The Atonement — The Ransom Paid

📖 The Atonement — The Ransom Paid Revealed as the Price of Redemption and the Release from Bondage Through the Blood of Jesus Christ

✍️ Atonement: AUTHOR

By Carl Timothy Wray

Carl Timothy Wray is a dedicated teacher of the Finished Work of Christ, committed to unveiling the full counsel of God through Scripture. With over 40 years of study, his writings focus on revealing the legal, relational, and eternal dimensions of redemption — bringing clarity to the Book of Revelation, the Atonement, and the unfolding plan of the ages. His work equips believers to understand not only what God has done, but how He thinks, how He works, and how all things are being restored in Christ.

The Atonement — The Ransom Paid reveals the biblical meaning of the atonement through the concept of ransom — the price paid by Jesus Christ to redeem humanity from sin, death, and bondage. This book explores key Scriptures such as Matthew 20:28, 1 Peter 1:18–19, and Hebrews 9:12 to uncover how the blood of Christ satisfied divine justice and secured eternal redemption. Readers will gain a deeper understanding of the atonement, redemption, and the finished work of Christ, seeing how God’s legal mind, sacrificial system, and redemptive purpose come together in one complete act of salvation.

🔥Atonement: INTRODUCTION

The Price That Heaven Determined Before Time

Before man ever fell…
before sin ever entered…
before death ever reigned…

There was already a price.

Not a price discovered in time —
but a price determined in eternity.

The Atonement was never God reacting to man’s failure.
It was God revealing His eternal mind, His unchanging righteousness, and His perfect way of restoration.

For if sin would enter…
then justice must answer.
If man would fall…
then mercy must respond.
And if creation would be subjected to corruption…
then a ransom must be paid.

This is the language of heaven:

Not suggestion… but requirement.
Not emotion… but order.
Not wishful thinking… but divine transaction.

The Scripture declares:

“The Son of man came… to give His life a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28

This one word — ransom — unlocks a dimension of the Atonement that many have heard, but few have truly understood.

For a ransom speaks of:

  • A price required
  • A payment made
  • A captivity addressed
  • A release secured

It tells us that man was not merely forgiven —
he was held.
Not merely weak —
but bound.
Not merely wandering —
but under a condition that required payment.

And if a ransom was required…

Then the question must be asked:

👉 Who demanded the price?
👉 What determined the cost?
👉 What was man held under?
👉 And what did the payment actually accomplish?

This book is not an emotional appeal —
it is a revelation of God’s legal and redemptive mind.

We will see that the ransom was not paid to satisfy man…
but to satisfy the righteousness of God.

We will uncover that the blood of Christ was not symbolic…
but transactional.

We will discover that the cross was not merely suffering…
but a divine exchange where justice and mercy met in perfection.

And most importantly…

We will see that the ransom did not simply make salvation possible —
it secured something eternal.

For when heaven sets a price…
it is not partial.
It is not temporary.
It is not uncertain.

It is complete.

And when the ransom was paid…

Something changed forever.

Chapter 1 — The Need for a Ransom

The Condition of Man — Sold Under Sin

The Scripture declares plainly:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

Man was not created in weakness. He was created in the image and likeness of God:

“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him…” — Genesis 1:27

He was crowned with glory and honor:

“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” — Psalm 8:5

But something changed.

Through sin, man fell from that place of glory into a condition of loss:

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men…” — Romans 5:12

Sin did not remain an outward act — it became an inward condition.

David saw this clearly:

“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” — Psalm 51:5

Man was no longer simply committing sin —
he was now formed under it.

And because of this, death entered:

“For the wages of sin is death…” — Romans 6:23

This is not just physical death — but separation from the life of God:

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God…” — Isaiah 59:2

So man stands:

  • Fallen
  • Separated
  • Under death

And most importantly…

👉 Not free.

More Than Sin — A State of Bondage

Jesus Himself reveals the true condition of man:

“Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” — John 8:34

Sin is not just behavior — it is bondage.

Paul confirms this:

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are…” — Romans 6:16

And again:

“For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.” — Romans 7:14

To be “sold” means:

  • Ownership has changed
  • Freedom is lost
  • Authority is transferred

Man is now under a dominion he cannot break.

Scripture describes this condition clearly:

“Who are taken captive by him at his will.” — 2 Timothy 2:26

And again:

“For of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.” — 2 Peter 2:19

This is the truth:

👉 Man is not just guilty —
👉 Man is captive

The Law Reveals the Need

The law of God does not create sin — it reveals it:

“By the law is the knowledge of sin.” — Romans 3:20

And the law declares a righteous standard:

“Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” — Galatians 3:10

This means:

  • The standard is perfect
  • The requirement is complete
  • The failure is total

James confirms this:

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” — James 2:10

So man stands:

  • Under sin
  • Under bondage
  • Under law
  • Under a curse

And the law does not offer escape — it demands justice.

The Debt That Cannot Be Paid by Man

Jesus reveals sin as more than failure — He reveals it as debt:

“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” — Matthew 6:12

This means something is owed.

But man cannot pay it.

The Psalmist declares:

“None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)” — Psalm 49:7–8

No man has the ability to:

  • Pay the price
  • Redeem himself
  • Free another

Why?

Because all are under the same condition:

“There is none righteous, no, not one.” — Romans 3:10

And again:

“All we like sheep have gone astray…” — Isaiah 53:6

So the conclusion is clear:

👉 The debt exists
👉 The bondage is real
👉 The price is required
👉 But man cannot pay it

The Universal Condition — All Under Sin

Scripture gathers all humanity under one conclusion:

“But the scripture hath concluded all under sin…” — Galatians 3:22

Jew and Gentile alike:

“What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin.” — Romans 3:9

And not just under sin — but under death:

“For as in Adam all die…” — 1 Corinthians 15:22

And under the power of darkness:

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness…” — Colossians 1:13

This reveals the full picture:

  • Sin governs
  • Death reigns
  • Darkness holds

👉 Humanity is not free.

Why a Ransom Is Required

Now the words of Jesus take on their full weight:

“The Son of man came… to give His life a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28

A ransom is only required when:

  • Someone is captive
  • A price is demanded
  • Release cannot happen without payment

Peter confirms the nature of this ransom:

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…” — 1 Peter 1:18

So the conclusion is undeniable:

👉 If man is captive — a ransom is required
👉 If the ransom is required — a price must be set
👉 If the price must be set — God Himself must determine it

Prophetic Voice — The Cry Beneath Creation

Listen to the cry beneath all creation:

“For the creature was made subject to vanity…
The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” — Romans 8:20–22

This is not just man’s cry —
this is creation’s cry.

A cry for:

  • Freedom
  • Restoration
  • Release

And heaven answers not with sympathy…

But with a decree.

👉 A ransom will be paid.

Not by man…
but by God Himself.

Call to Action — Seeing the Need Clearly

Before we can understand the power of the ransom…
we must see the depth of the need.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see sin as behavior… or bondage?
  • Do I see myself as struggling… or needing deliverance?
  • Do I understand that God’s answer is not partial… but complete?

For the truth is written:

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32

And again:

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36

Chapter 2 — Sin as Debt and Bondage

Sin as Debt — Something Owed to Justice

Jesus teaches us to pray:

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” — Matthew 6:12

Notice the language — debts.

Sin is not only rebellion…
it is something owed.

Luke records the same truth:

“Forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.” — Luke 11:4

This shows the connection:

👉 Sin = debt
👉 Debt = obligation
👉 Obligation = something must be paid

Paul confirms this condition:

“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.” — Romans 4:4

A debt does not disappear because we ignore it.
A debt remains until it is paid or forgiven by satisfaction.

And Scripture is clear:

“The wages of sin is death…” — Romans 6:23

Sin earns something.
It produces a legal outcome.

The Handwriting Against Us — The Record of Debt

Paul unveils something powerful:

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us…” — Colossians 2:14

There was a record.

A divine accounting.

A legal testimony that stood against man.

This “handwriting” speaks of:

  • Charges
  • Requirements
  • Violations of law

And it was not neutral — it was:

👉 “against us”
👉 “contrary to us”

The law did not defend man — it testified against him.

Because:

“By the law is the knowledge of sin.” — Romans 3:20

And again:

“That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” — Romans 3:19

This is courtroom language.

Man stands:

  • Charged
  • Accountable
  • Indebted

Bondage — Sin as a Master

Jesus declares the reality of sin’s power:

“Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” — John 8:34

This is not suggestion —
this is dominion.

Paul expands this truth:

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are…” — Romans 6:16

And again:

“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” — Romans 6:18

This reveals something critical:

👉 Everyone serves a master

Either:

  • Sin
  • Or righteousness

There is no neutral ground.

Peter confirms this:

“For of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.” — 2 Peter 2:19

So sin is not just something man does…

👉 It is something that rules him

Sold Under Sin — The Loss of Freedom

Paul makes the condition unmistakable:

“For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.” — Romans 7:14

To be “sold” means:

  • Ownership has transferred
  • Freedom has been lost
  • Authority has changed

Man is no longer his own.

He is under a system he cannot break.

This is why Scripture says:

“Know ye not… ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price…” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

If man must be “bought”…

Then he must have been owned.

Captivity — Held Under Power

The Word describes this condition as captivity:

“Who are taken captive by him at his will.” — 2 Timothy 2:26

And again:

“God… hath delivered us from the power of darkness…” — Colossians 1:13

This reveals:

  • There is a power
  • There is a dominion
  • There is a captivity

And man is under it.

Hebrews speaks of this bondage:

“Who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” — Hebrews 2:15

This is not temporary.

👉 “All their lifetime”

A continuous condition.

The Dominion of Death

Death is not just an event —
it is a reigning power:

“Death reigned from Adam to Moses…” — Romans 5:14

And again:

“By one man’s offence death reigned…” — Romans 5:17

This is kingship language.

Death is reigning.

Sin is ruling.

Man is under both.

Paul summarizes it:

“For the wages of sin is death…” — Romans 6:23

This is the system:

  • Sin produces death
  • Death holds man
  • Man cannot escape

The Conclusion — Man Cannot Free Himself

The Psalmist already declared it:

“None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him.” — Psalm 49:7

And again:

“The redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever.” — Psalm 49:8

No man has:

  • The ability
  • The righteousness
  • The price

To free himself.

Isaiah confirms:

“All we like sheep have gone astray…” — Isaiah 53:6

And Paul seals it:

“There is none righteous, no, not one.” — Romans 3:10

So the truth stands:

👉 Man is in debt
👉 Man is in bondage
👉 Man is in captivity
👉 Man is under death

And he cannot deliver himself.

Prophetic Voice — The Weight of the Chains

Hear it clearly:

This is not a wounded man needing encouragement…
this is a bound man needing deliverance.

Not a man needing improvement…
but a man needing release.

For sin is not just a mistake —
it is a master.

Debt is not just symbolic —
it is recorded.

Bondage is not just emotional —
it is real.

And the chains of death are not imagined —
they are enforced.

So heaven does not offer advice…

Heaven prepares a price.

Call to Action — Seeing the Depth

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see sin as something I manage… or something that once ruled me?
  • Do I understand that I was not just struggling… but bound?
  • Do I see that freedom requires more than effort — it requires payment?

For the Word declares:

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free…” — Galatians 5:1

And again:

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36

Chapter 3 — The Law’s Demand for Payment

The Law Reveals God’s Righteous Standard

The law is not man’s idea —
it is the expression of God’s nature.

“Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” — Romans 7:12

The law reflects:

  • God’s holiness
  • God’s justice
  • God’s righteousness

It is not corrupt…
it is perfect.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul…” — Psalm 19:7

And it does not bend.

It does not adjust.
It does not lower its standard.

It declares what is right — because God is right.

The Law Demands Obedience — Not Effort

The law does not reward effort —
it requires perfection.

“Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” — Galatians 3:10

Not some things…
not most things…

👉 all things

James confirms this:

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” — James 2:10

This reveals the nature of divine justice:

  • It is complete
  • It is absolute
  • It is not partial

The law does not grade on a curve.

It declares:

👉 Perfect obedience — or guilt

The Law Establishes Guilt — Not Freedom

The law was never given to free man —
it was given to reveal his condition.

“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” — Romans 3:20

And again:

“That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” — Romans 3:19

The law speaks — and when it does:

👉 Every excuse is silenced
👉 Every defense collapses
👉 Every man stands guilty

Because the law does not justify…

👉 It exposes.

The Curse of the Law — The Penalty for Sin

Where there is law…
there is consequence.

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse…” — Galatians 3:10

The curse is not emotional —
it is judicial.

It is the result of failing to meet the standard.

Moses declared it long before:

“Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them.” — Deuteronomy 27:26

This curse includes:

  • Death
  • Separation
  • Judgment

Because:

“The wages of sin is death…” — Romans 6:23

Sin earns something.

And the law enforces it.

Justice Must Be Satisfied — Not Ignored

God is not only loving —
He is just.

“Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” — Genesis 18:25

And again:

“Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne…” — Psalm 89:14

God does not overlook sin.

He does not sweep it aside.

He does not pretend it never happened.

Because to do so would violate His own nature.

Paul makes this clear:

“To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” — Romans 3:26

God must remain:

👉 Just — in dealing with sin
👉 Justifier — in saving man

Both must be true.

The Law Requires Payment — Not Apology

The law does not accept apology as payment.

It requires satisfaction.

“Without shedding of blood is no remission.” — Hebrews 9:22

This is a divine principle:

  • Sin brings death
  • Death requires life
  • Life must be given

Because:

“The life of the flesh is in the blood… it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” — Leviticus 17:11

So the law declares:

👉 Sin must be answered
👉 Justice must be satisfied
👉 Blood must be given

The Problem — Man Cannot Meet the Demand

Here is the crisis:

The law demands perfection…
but man cannot provide it.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23

And again:

“There is none righteous, no, not one.” — Romans 3:10

Even man’s best efforts fall short:

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…” — Isaiah 64:6

So man stands:

  • Under law
  • Under curse
  • Under guilt
  • Without ability to satisfy the requirement

Why the Ransom Becomes Necessary

Now we see clearly:

👉 The law demands payment
👉 Justice requires satisfaction
👉 Blood is required
👉 Man cannot provide it

Therefore…

👉 A ransom is not optional —
👉 It is necessary

This is why Christ came:

“The Son of man came… to give His life a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28

And again:

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…” — Galatians 3:13

The ransom answers:

  • The law’s demand
  • The curse’s requirement
  • The justice of God

Prophetic Voice — The Unbending Standard

Hear this clearly:

God did not lower His standard to save man.

He fulfilled it.

He did not weaken His law…

He satisfied it.

He did not ignore sin…

He judged it.

And He did not bypass justice…

He met it in full.

For the throne of God stands upon:

“Justice and judgment…” — Psalm 89:14

And nothing enters that throne…

Without righteousness.

Call to Action — Understanding God’s Way

Ask yourself:

  • Do I understand that God’s salvation does not ignore justice?
  • Do I see that the cross was not mercy alone, but justice satisfied?
  • Do I recognize that God did not compromise — He fulfilled?

For the Scripture declares:

“Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” — Romans 10:4

And again:

“Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.” — Romans 3:31

Chapter 4 — The Price Determined by God

Not Man’s Price — But God’s Determination

When a ransom is required, the price is not set by the captive.

It is set by the one whose justice must be satisfied.

Scripture makes this clear:

“None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)” — Psalm 49:7–8

Man cannot determine the price.

Man cannot negotiate the cost.

Man cannot offer anything sufficient.

Why?

Because the issue is not what man is willing to give…

👉 It is what God requires.

The Worth of the Soul — Beyond Natural Value

The value of what was lost determines the value of what must be paid.

Jesus reveals this truth:

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” — Matthew 16:26

The soul is beyond:

  • Wealth
  • Possession
  • Natural value

It cannot be purchased with earthly means.

Peter confirms this:

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…” — 1 Peter 1:18

Silver cannot buy it.
Gold cannot redeem it.

Because the problem is not natural…

👉 It is spiritual and eternal.

The Precious Blood — The Price Revealed

If silver and gold cannot redeem…

Then what can?

Peter answers:

“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” — 1 Peter 1:19

The price is:

👉 Blood
👉 Not just any blood
👉 But precious blood

Why blood?

Because:

“The life of the flesh is in the blood… it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” — Leviticus 17:11

Blood carries life.

And life must answer death.

A Life for a Life — The Divine Principle

From the beginning, God established a principle:

“He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.” — Exodus 21:12

And again:

“Thou shalt give life for life.” — Exodus 21:23

This is divine justice:

👉 Life answers for life

Sin brought death:

“By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…” — Romans 5:12

So the answer must be:

👉 A life given
👉 To answer death

But not just any life.

The Requirement — A Perfect and Spotless Offering

The law did not accept anything defective.

“Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year…” — Exodus 12:5

And again:

“It shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein.” — Leviticus 22:21

This reveals:

  • The offering must be perfect
  • The sacrifice must be spotless
  • The life given must be pure

Why?

Because God is holy:

“Be ye holy; for I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16

So the price must match the nature of God.

Christ — The Only Acceptable Price

Now the Scripture unveils the answer:

“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” — John 1:29

Christ is:

  • The Lamb
  • Without blemish
  • Without sin

“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth.” — 1 Peter 2:22

And again:

“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin…” — 2 Corinthians 5:21

Only one life met the requirement:

👉 Sinless
👉 Perfect
👉 Acceptable before God

Determined Before Time — Not After the Fall

This price was not chosen in reaction.

It was determined before the foundation of the world:

“Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world…” — 1 Peter 1:20

And again:

“The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” — Revelation 13:8

This means:

  • God knew the cost
  • God set the price
  • God prepared the payment

Before man ever fell.

The Cost of Redemption — Fully Known by God

God did not begin redemption without knowing the price.

Jesus Himself said:

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost…” — Luke 14:28

God counted the cost.

And the cost was:

👉 The life of His Son

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” — John 3:16

Not part of Him.

Not something external.

👉 His Son.

Prophetic Voice — Heaven Sets the Price

Hear this clearly:

Man did not determine redemption.

God did.

Man did not offer the price.

God provided it.

Man did not initiate salvation.

God established it.

For when heaven looked at the condition of man…

Heaven did not lower the standard.

Heaven revealed the cost.

And the cost was not silver.

Not gold.

Not effort.

👉 The cost was blood.

Precious blood.

Divine blood.

The life of the Lamb.

Call to Action — Seeing the Value of the Price

Ask yourself:

  • Do I understand that my redemption was not cheap?
  • Do I see that God did not accept substitutes — He required perfection?
  • Do I recognize the value of the blood that was given?

For the Scripture declares:

“Ye are bought with a price…” — 1 Corinthians 6:20

And again:

“Feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.” — Acts 20:28

Chapter 5 — The Lamb as the Ransom

Behold the Lamb — God’s Answer Revealed

The moment Jesus appears, heaven announces Him:

“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” — John 1:29

This is not a title given casually.

This is identification.

👉 He is not just a teacher
👉 He is not just a prophet
👉 He is the Lamb

The Lamb is:

  • The sacrifice
  • The offering
  • The ransom

God does not send a message…

👉 He sends a Lamb.

The Lamb Foreseen — From the Beginning

The Lamb was not introduced in the New Testament.

He was revealed from the beginning.

When Abraham was tested, Isaac asked:

“Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” — Genesis 22:7

And Abraham answered prophetically:

“My son, God will provide Himself a lamb…” — Genesis 22:8

Not just provide a lamb…

👉 God will provide Himself.

This points directly to Christ.

The Passover Lamb — The Pattern Established

In Egypt, God established a pattern:

“Your lamb shall be without blemish… and the whole assembly… shall kill it in the evening.” — Exodus 12:5–6

And the instruction was:

“And they shall take of the blood… and strike it on the two side posts…” — Exodus 12:7

The result?

“When I see the blood, I will pass over you…” — Exodus 12:13

This reveals:

  • The Lamb must die
  • The blood must be applied
  • Judgment must be satisfied

Paul makes the connection clear:

“For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us.” — 1 Corinthians 5:7

The Lamb Must Be Without Blemish

The requirement for the Lamb was perfection:

“Your lamb shall be without blemish…” — Exodus 12:5

Because the sacrifice must be acceptable to God.

Christ fulfills this perfectly:

“Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth.” — 1 Peter 2:22

And again:

“A lamb without blemish and without spot.” — 1 Peter 1:19

He is:

  • Sinless
  • Pure
  • Acceptable

👉 The only life that meets the requirement

The Lamb Bears the Sin of Many

Isaiah saw this long before the cross:

“He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter…” — Isaiah 53:7

And again:

“The LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:6

This is the mystery:

👉 The Lamb is not just slain
👉 The Lamb carries sin

Peter confirms:

“Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree…” — 1 Peter 2:24

The Lamb becomes the place where:

  • Sin is laid
  • Judgment is executed
  • Justice is satisfied

The Lamb Slain — The Act of Sacrifice

The Lamb must not only exist —
He must be slain.

John sees this in Revelation:

“A Lamb as it had been slain…” — Revelation 5:6

This is the center of heaven’s vision.

And again:

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain…” — Revelation 5:12

The worth of Christ is revealed in His sacrifice.

Because:

👉 Without the shedding of blood… there is no remission

“Without shedding of blood is no remission.” — Hebrews 9:22

The Lamb as the Ransom

Now we see clearly:

👉 The Lamb is the price
👉 The Lamb is the offering
👉 The Lamb is the ransom

Jesus said:

“The Son of man came… to give His life a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28

And again:

“I lay down My life for the sheep.” — John 10:15

The ransom is not money…

👉 The ransom is His life

The Lamb Given by God

This was not man’s doing —
this was God’s provision.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…” — John 3:16

And again:

“He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all…” — Romans 8:32

God did not require something He would not supply.

👉 He provided the Lamb Himself

Prophetic Voice — The Lamb at the Center

See it clearly:

From Genesis to Revelation…

👉 The Lamb stands at the center.

Before sin — He was foreordained
In time — He was revealed
On the cross — He was slain
In heaven — He is enthroned

Everything leads to Him.

Everything flows through Him.

Everything is answered in Him.

For when God determined the price…

He did not look outside Himself.

👉 He gave Himself.

Call to Action — Beholding the Lamb

The cry of heaven is still the same:

“Behold the Lamb of God…” — John 1:29

Not just believe…

👉 Behold.

See Him as:

  • The sacrifice
  • The ransom
  • The answer to sin

For Scripture declares:

“Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood…” — Revelation 1:5

Chapter 6 — The Blood as the Payment

The Life Is in the Blood — God’s Foundation

From the beginning, God established a principle that governs the entire Atonement:

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood… for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” — Leviticus 17:11

This is not a ritual statement…

👉 It is a divine law.

The blood represents:

  • Life
  • Identity
  • The very essence of a being

So when blood is given…

👉 Life is given.

And when life is given…

👉 A price is being paid.

Without Blood — No Remission

Scripture declares an unbreakable truth:

“Without shedding of blood is no remission.” — Hebrews 9:22

No remission means:

  • No forgiveness
  • No release
  • No removal of sin

This means:

👉 Sin cannot be removed by words
👉 Sin cannot be removed by effort
👉 Sin cannot be removed by intention

It requires:

👉 Blood.

Because sin brought death:

“The wages of sin is death…” — Romans 6:23

So the answer must be:

👉 Life given through blood.

The Blood Required by the Law

Under the law, everything pointed to this reality:

“Almost all things are by the law purged with blood…” — Hebrews 9:22

Day after day, sacrifices were offered:

“And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices…” — Hebrews 10:11

Why?

Because blood was required.

But those sacrifices had a limitation:

“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.” — Hebrews 10:4

They pointed to something…

👉 But they could not complete it.

The Blood of Christ — A Better Offering

Now Scripture reveals the difference:

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.” — Hebrews 9:12

This is the shift:

  • Not animal blood
  • Not repeated sacrifices
  • Not temporary covering

👉 But His own blood

And what did it obtain?

👉 Eternal redemption

The Blood Speaks — A Living Testimony

The blood of Christ is not silent.

It speaks:

“The blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” — Hebrews 12:24

Abel’s blood cried for judgment:

“The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto Me from the ground.” — Genesis 4:10

But Christ’s blood speaks:

  • Mercy
  • Redemption
  • Release

It answers justice — not by denying it…

👉 But by satisfying it.

The Blood as Payment — The Divine Transaction

The Scripture reveals something powerful:

“Ye are bought with a price…” — 1 Corinthians 6:20

And again:

“Feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.” — Acts 20:28

The blood is not just cleansing…

👉 It is currency.

It is the payment that:

  • Satisfies the law
  • Answers justice
  • Secures redemption

Peter confirms this:

“Redeemed… with the precious blood of Christ…” — 1 Peter 1:18–19

The word redeemed means:

👉 Bought back
👉 Purchased
👉 Paid for

The Blood Cleanses the Conscience

The power of the blood is not only legal —
it is inward.

“How much more shall the blood of Christ… purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” — Hebrews 9:14

The blood does not only:

  • Satisfy God

It also:

  • Cleanse man

It reaches:

  • The heart
  • The conscience
  • The inner man

The Blood Brings Us Near

Because of the blood, something changes in relationship:

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” — Ephesians 2:13

Distance is removed.

Separation is answered.

Access is opened.

All through:

👉 The blood.

The Blood Secures Forgiveness and Redemption

Scripture ties it together clearly:

“In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins…” — Ephesians 1:7

And again:

“In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” — Colossians 1:14

This shows:

👉 Redemption = through His blood
👉 Forgiveness = through His blood

There is no redemption apart from it.

Prophetic Voice — The Currency of Heaven

Hear this clearly:

Heaven does not trade in silver.
Heaven does not trade in gold.

Heaven trades in life.

And that life is carried in the blood.

So when Christ shed His blood…

He was not only suffering…

👉 He was paying.

Paying the price that justice required.
Paying the debt that man could not pay.
Paying in full — with no remainder.

For when the blood was offered…

Nothing was left unpaid.

Call to Action — Seeing the Power of the Blood

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see the blood as symbolic… or as payment?
  • Do I understand that my redemption was purchased?
  • Do I recognize the power of the blood to cleanse, redeem, and restore?

For the Word declares:

“Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood…” — Revelation 1:5

And again:

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb…” — Revelation 12:11

Chapter 7 — The Cross as the Transaction

The Cross — Not Just Suffering, But Fulfillment

The cross is often seen as a place of pain.

But in the mind of God…

👉 It is a place of fulfillment.

Jesus Himself declared:

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law… I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” — Matthew 5:17

Everything the law required…

👉 The cross fulfilled.

Every demand of justice…
Every requirement of righteousness…
Every consequence of sin…

👉 Met at the cross.

The Handwriting Against Us — Nailed to the Cross

Paul reveals what happened legally:

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us… and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross.” — Colossians 2:14

This is courtroom language.

There was:

  • A record
  • A charge
  • A legal testimony against man

But at the cross:

👉 It was removed
👉 It was canceled
👉 It was nailed

Not postponed…

👉 Finished.

Sin Judged in the Flesh

The cross was not only about forgiveness…

👉 It was about judgment.

“God sending His own Son… and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.” — Romans 8:3

Notice carefully:

👉 Sin was condemned

Not ignored.
Not excused.

👉 Judged.

And where was it judged?

👉 In the flesh of Christ.

The Substitution — The Exchange of the Cross

The cross reveals a divine exchange:

“He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…” — Isaiah 53:5

And again:

“The LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:6

Paul says it plainly:

“For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin…” — 2 Corinthians 5:21

This is substitution:

  • He takes our place
  • He bears our sin
  • He carries our judgment

So that:

👉 We may receive what He is

The Curse Removed — Christ Made a Curse

The law placed man under a curse.

But at the cross:

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…” — Galatians 3:13

This means:

👉 The curse did not disappear
👉 It was transferred

From us…

👉 To Him.

And in that transfer:

👉 It was dealt with fully.

It Is Finished — The Completion of the Transaction

At the cross, Jesus declares:

“It is finished.” — John 19:30

This is not a cry of defeat.

👉 It is a declaration of completion.

What was finished?

  • The payment
  • The judgment
  • The requirement of the law

Nothing left undone.

Nothing left unpaid.

👉 Fully satisfied.

The Veil Torn — Access Opened

When the work was completed…

Something happened:

“And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom…” — Matthew 27:51

And Hebrews explains:

“Having therefore… boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus… through the veil, that is to say, His flesh.” — Hebrews 10:19–20

The cross did not only remove sin…

👉 It opened access.

Principalities Defeated — The Victory of the Cross

The cross was also a place of victory:

“Having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” — Colossians 2:15

This means:

  • Powers were defeated
  • Authority was broken
  • Dominion was overturned

The cross is not weakness…

👉 It is triumph.

Reconciliation Begun at the Cross

The cross also begins reconciliation:

“And, having made peace through the blood of His cross…” — Colossians 1:20

Peace is not a feeling…

👉 It is a result of a completed work.

The cross brings:

  • Peace with God
  • End of enmity
  • Beginning of restoration

Prophetic Voice — The Place Where Everything Met

See it clearly:

At the cross…

  • Justice met mercy
  • Sin met judgment
  • Death met life
  • Man met God

Everything converged in one place.

Not scattered.
Not incomplete.

👉 One moment.
👉 One act.
👉 One finished work.

The cross is not a symbol…

👉 It is the center of all things.

Call to Action — Standing in the Finished Work

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see the cross as finished… or ongoing?
  • Do I understand that nothing was left undone?
  • Do I stand in what Christ completed… or strive to add to it?

For the Scripture declares:

“For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” — Hebrews 10:14

And again:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…” — Romans 8:1

Chapter 8 — The Release from Captivity

From Payment to Release — The Purpose of the Ransom

A ransom is never paid just to be paid.

It is paid for a purpose:

👉 Release.

Jesus declared His mission:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me… to preach deliverance to the captives… to set at liberty them that are bruised.” — Luke 4:18

And again:

“The Son of man came… to give His life a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28

This reveals the connection:

  • Ransom → Deliverance
  • Payment → Release
  • Price → Freedom

If the ransom is real…

👉 Then the release must follow.

Delivered from the Power of Darkness

Scripture declares a completed act:

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.” — Colossians 1:13

Notice:

👉 “hath delivered” — already done

This is not future.

This is not partial.

👉 This is completed deliverance.

And what were we delivered from?

👉 The power of darkness

Not just influence…

👉 Power.

Freedom from the Dominion of Sin

Paul declares:

“For sin shall not have dominion over you…” — Romans 6:14

Why?

Because something changed.

“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” — Romans 6:18

Freedom here means:

  • No longer ruled
  • No longer owned
  • No longer bound

The ransom broke the authority of sin.

Delivered from the Fear of Death

Hebrews reveals another chain:

“Who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” — Hebrews 2:15

Fear of death is bondage.

But Christ dealt with it:

“That through death He might destroy him that had the power of death…” — Hebrews 2:14

This means:

  • Death’s power is broken
  • Fear’s grip is removed
  • Bondage is ended

The Opening of the Prison

Isaiah prophesied this work:

“To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison…” — Isaiah 42:7

And again:

“To say to the prisoners, Go forth…” — Isaiah 49:9

This is not symbolic language.

👉 This is release.

Jesus fulfills it:

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36

Chains Broken — Not Managed

Scripture does not teach management of bondage…

👉 It teaches freedom from it.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free…” — Galatians 5:1

Not:

  • Gradually improving
  • Slowly escaping

But:

👉 Made free

And again:

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17

From Servants to Sons

The ransom changes identity:

“Thou art no more a servant, but a son…” — Galatians 4:7

And again:

“Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts…” — Galatians 4:6

This means:

  • Not slaves
  • Not captives
  • Not bound

👉 Sons.

Translated into a New Kingdom

The ransom does more than release…

👉 It transfers.

“Hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.” — Colossians 1:13

Translation means:

  • Moved from one realm to another
  • Removed from one authority to another

From:

  • Darkness → Light
  • Bondage → Freedom
  • Death → Life

Victory Over the Enemy

The enemy’s power is broken:

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7

And again:

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb…” — Revelation 12:11

The blood that paid the ransom…

👉 Secured the victory.

Prophetic Voice — The Sound of Freedom

Hear it clearly:

The ransom was not paid to leave man in chains.

It was not paid to give partial freedom.

It was not paid to offer possibility.

👉 It was paid to secure release.

Chains broken.
Prisons opened.
Captives freed.

For when heaven pays a price…

👉 It does not fail.

Call to Action — Walking in Freedom

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see myself as free… or still bound?
  • Do I understand that Christ has already secured my release?
  • Am I walking in liberty… or still thinking like a captive?

For the Scripture declares:

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36

And again:

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” — 2 Corinthians 3:17

Chapter 9 — Redemption Through the Ransom

Redemption Defined — Bought Back by a Price

The Scripture declares:

“In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins…” — Ephesians 1:7

And again:

“In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” — Colossians 1:14

The word redemption means:

👉 To buy back
👉 To purchase
👉 To release by payment

This connects directly to the ransom:

  • The ransom is the price
  • Redemption is the result

If a ransom is paid…

👉 Redemption must follow.

Purchased — No Longer Our Own

Paul states clearly:

“Ye are bought with a price…” — 1 Corinthians 6:20

And again:

“Ye are not your own.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19

This reveals something powerful:

👉 Redemption is not independence
👉 Redemption is new ownership

Before:

  • Owned by sin
  • Under bondage
  • Subject to death

Now:

👉 Purchased by God.

Redeemed from the Curse of the Law

The law placed man under a curse.

But redemption answers it:

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law…” — Galatians 3:13

This means:

  • The curse no longer holds authority
  • The law no longer condemns
  • The judgment has been answered

Not avoided…

👉 Fulfilled.

Redeemed from Vain Living

Peter reveals another dimension:

“Redeemed… from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers.” — 1 Peter 1:18

This means:

  • Not just legal freedom
  • Not just release from sin

👉 But deliverance from empty living

Redemption touches:

  • Life
  • Purpose
  • Direction

Redeemed unto God — A New Belonging

Revelation declares:

“Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood…” — Revelation 5:9

Notice:

👉 Not just redeemed from something
👉 But redeemed unto God

This is relational.

This is positional.

This is identity.

From Slaves to Servants of Righteousness

Paul explains the transfer:

“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” — Romans 6:18

And again:

“Know ye not… that to whom ye yield yourselves servants… his servants ye are…” — Romans 6:16

This reveals:

👉 Everyone serves something

Redemption changes:

  • Master
  • Authority
  • Dominion

The Seal of Ownership — The Spirit Given

Redemption is confirmed by the Spirit:

“After that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise.” — Ephesians 1:13

And again:

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” — Romans 8:16

This seal declares:

👉 You belong to God

Not by effort…

👉 By purchase.

Redeemed for an Inheritance

Redemption is not the end —
it is the beginning.

“Which is the earnest of our inheritance…” — Ephesians 1:14

And again:

“If children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…” — Romans 8:17

Redemption brings:

  • Inheritance
  • Identity
  • Future fulfillment

The Cost Defines the Value

The value of redemption is seen in the price:

“Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…
But with the precious blood of Christ…” — 1 Peter 1:18–19

This means:

👉 Your value is defined by the price paid

Not by:

  • Your past
  • Your failure
  • Your condition

But by:

👉 The blood of Christ.

Prophetic Voice — Bought by Heaven

Hear it clearly:

You were not rescued randomly…

👉 You were purchased intentionally.

Not cheaply…

👉 But with the highest price heaven could give.

Not temporarily…

👉 But eternally secured.

For when God redeems…

👉 He takes ownership.

And what He owns…

👉 He keeps.

Call to Action — Living as the Redeemed

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see myself as my own… or God’s possession?
  • Do I understand that I’ve been purchased?
  • Am I living as redeemed… or still thinking like I belong to another?

For the Scripture declares:

“Ye are a chosen generation… a peculiar people…” — 1 Peter 2:9

And again:

“Know ye not… your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… and ye are not your own?” — 1 Corinthians 6:19

Chapter 10 — The Ransom and the Restoration of All Things

The Ransom Is Greater Than the Individual

Most see the ransom as personal.

And it is.

But it is not only personal…

👉 It is universal in scope.

Scripture declares:

“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” — John 1:29

Not just a few…

👉 The world.

And again:

“For God so loved the world…” — John 3:16

The love that gave the ransom was not limited.

👉 It was expansive.

Through the Cross — Reconciling All Things

Paul reveals the scope clearly:

“And, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself… whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” — Colossians 1:20

Notice:

👉 All things

Not some things.

Not a portion.

👉 All things.

And how?

👉 Through the blood of His cross.

From Adam to Christ — The Reach of Redemption

The Scripture draws a parallel:

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” — 1 Corinthians 15:22

Adam’s fall affected all.

So Christ’s work must answer all.

Paul continues:

“As by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” — Romans 5:18

This shows:

  • The fall was universal
  • The answer is sufficient

Creation Itself Awaits Restoration

The work of the ransom extends beyond man:

“The creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption…” — Romans 8:21

And again:

“The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” — Romans 8:22

Creation is:

  • Waiting
  • Groaning
  • Expecting

Why?

👉 Because the ransom affects it.

The Restoration of All Things

Peter speaks of what is coming:

“Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things…” — Acts 3:21

Restitution means:

👉 Restoration
👉 Return
👉 Recovery

Not partial…

👉 All things.

God’s Eternal Purpose — All in All

The end of the plan is revealed:

“Then cometh the end… that God may be all in all.” — 1 Corinthians 15:24, 28

This is the goal:

👉 God filling all things
👉 God restoring all things
👉 God bringing all into His purpose

Nothing outside His plan.

Nothing beyond His reach.

The Ransom as the Foundation of Restoration

The restoration of all things is not separate from the ransom…

👉 It is built upon it.

Because:

  • The ransom pays the price
  • The cross executes the work
  • The blood secures redemption

So that:

👉 Restoration can unfold

Every Enemy Subdued

Scripture declares:

“For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet.” — 1 Corinthians 15:25

And the last enemy?

“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” — 1 Corinthians 15:26

This means:

  • Sin dealt with
  • Death defeated
  • All opposition removed

The Victory of the Lamb

Revelation shows the outcome:

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain…” — Revelation 5:12

And again:

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ…” — Revelation 11:15

The Lamb who was slain…

👉 Reigns.

The ransom paid…

👉 Produces dominion.

Prophetic Voice — The Fullness of the Plan

Hear it clearly:

The ransom was never small.

It was never limited.

It was never uncertain.

It was the foundation of a plan…

👉 That reaches to all things.

From the fall of man…
to the restoration of creation…
to the fullness of God…

Everything is moving toward one end:

👉 God all in all.

Call to Action — Seeing the Bigger Picture

Ask yourself:

  • Do I see redemption as personal only… or part of a greater plan?
  • Do I understand that God’s purpose reaches beyond me?
  • Am I aligning with what God is restoring in Christ?

For the Scripture declares:

“Having made known unto us the mystery of His will… that in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ…” — Ephesians 1:9–10
