  1. Hi: We love your writings and we study every day for the past few months and really enjoy and love the way you write and explain things. Today we are a little confused about something you wrote here. You said this……”Death was not part of God’s original design. Death was not part of God’s eternal purpose.” You have stated so many times that everything was in His plans before the foundation of the world, so we aren’t sure what this means here. Are we missing something? God bless and we continue to study your writings every day – have never heard such amazing things even though we have been out of the church system for
over 50 years. We would appreciate your comments on this when you have time. Thank you.
    Faye & John.

    1. Faye and John,

Thank you for your question and for taking the time to write. I appreciate the way you are studying these things and not just passing over a statement, but searching it out.

You have brought up a very important point. When we consider that Christ is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, we understand that redemption was never an afterthought. The cross was not God’s emergency plan after Adam sinned. Christ was always at the center of God’s eternal purpose.

When I say that death was not part of God’s original design, I am not saying that God was unaware of death or that redemption was outside of His plan. God knew the end from the beginning. He already had purposed Christ before the foundation of the world.

The key is understanding the difference between what God purposed as the final outcome and what God allowed creation to pass through.

Romans 8 tells us that creation was subjected to vanity, but it was subjected in hope. The condition of corruption, suffering, and death was not the final purpose of God. It was the condition in which the glory and victory of Christ would be revealed.

If death was God’s ultimate purpose, Scripture would not call death “the last enemy” to be destroyed. Christ did not come to preserve death; He came to destroy death and bring forth life and immortality.

So the greater revelation is this: God did not create death as the destination for His creation. God purposed Christ, and in Christ He purposed the victory over death. The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world because the Son was always the answer, always the center, and always the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.

Thank you both for your kind words concerning the writings. It is a blessing to know that you have been studying and receiving from them. Continue searching these things out, because the more we see Christ, the more the Scriptures open to us.

      God bless you both,

      Carl Timothy Wray
