🔥 The Foundation of Christ — Hebrews 6 Explained as the Measuring Line of Truth That Aligns the Doctrine of Christ and Establishes the Path from Beginning to Perfection Through the Gospel Revealed in Paul the Apostle
✍️ The Foundation of Christ: AUTHOR
By Carl Timothy Wray
Carl Timothy Wray writes with a focus on the full counsel of God, unveiling the finished work of Christ from Genesis to Revelation. His teachings emphasize the foundation of truth, the revelation of Jesus Christ, and the progression from the elementary principles of Christ into the fullness of maturity in the Kingdom of God. Through clear structure and prophetic insight, he equips readers to move from beginning to perfection, aligning their understanding with the plumb line of God’s Word.
🔍
The Foundation of Christ — Hebrews 6: The Plumb Line Revealed explains the foundational principles of the doctrine of Christ found in Hebrews 6:1–2, including repentance from dead works, faith toward God, baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. This book presents Hebrews 6 as the measuring line of truth that aligns all doctrine and establishes the proper foundation for spiritual growth. Through the gospel revealed in Paul the Apostle, readers are guided to lay the foundation correctly and move beyond the beginning into maturity and perfection in Christ.

🔥 The Foundation of Christ: INTRODUCTION
There is a line that God has drawn — and everything built in His name must be measured by it.
It is not a line drawn by men, traditions, denominations, or systems of belief. It is a line established by God Himself, a measuring line of truth that determines whether what is being built will stand or fall.
Hebrews 6 reveals that line.
It does not present the end of the journey — it defines the beginning. It lays out the elementary principles of the doctrine of Christ, not as something to remain in, but as something that must be laid correctly before anything can be built upon it.
Many attempt to move into deeper revelation, higher understanding, and spiritual maturity without ever aligning to the foundation. The result is instability, confusion, and contradiction — not because the desire for growth is wrong, but because the foundation has never been measured against the plumb line.
The foundation of Christ is not optional. It is not adjustable. It cannot be redefined to fit personal understanding or religious systems. It is fixed, established, and revealed.
And if it is not laid correctly, nothing built upon it will endure.
This book returns to that foundation.
Not as religion has taught it, but as it is revealed in Hebrews 6 — as the measuring line of truth that aligns the doctrine of Christ and prepares the way for the believer to move beyond the beginning and go on unto perfection.
Through the gospel revealed in Paul the Apostle, we will see that the foundation is not the destination, but the starting point of a journey that leads into fullness.
The question is not whether the foundation exists.
The question is:
👉 Has it been laid correctly?
🔥 CHAPTER 1
THE CALL TO LEAVE THE BEGINNING
“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection…” — Hebrews 6:1
LEAVING THE BEGINNING IS A CALL TO MOVE FORWARD
Hebrews 6 does not begin by introducing something new — it begins by correcting position.
The instruction is not complicated:
👉 “Leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ…”
This is not a command to abandon the foundation. It is a call to stop remaining in a place that was never meant to be permanent.
The foundation of Christ is meant to be laid once — firmly, clearly, and correctly. As it is written, “other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11). The foundation is not in question — alignment to it is.
Many have encountered the principles of Christ, yet remain in cycles of:
- repentance without transformation
- learning without growth
- restarting without progression
The issue is not exposure — it is establishment.
THE FOUNDATION MUST BE LAID CORRECTLY
The call to leave the beginning reveals something deeper:
👉 A foundation that is continually relaid has never been properly set.
Hebrews does not say to ignore the foundation — it says not to keep laying it again.
When the foundation is not aligned with truth, everything built upon it becomes unstable. As the prophet declared, “judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet” (Isaiah 28:17). God measures what is built — and only what aligns with His line will stand.
This is why many remain in the same place year after year. They revisit the same teachings, rehear the same truths, and cycle through the same experiences — not because the truth is lacking, but because it has never been measured and set.
Until the foundation is aligned with the plumb line, growth cannot begin.
MISALIGNED FOUNDATIONS PRODUCE CYCLES
When the foundation is not established correctly, the result is repetition without advancement.
Repentance becomes routine instead of transformative.
Faith becomes effort instead of rest, even though “we which have believed do enter into rest” (Hebrews 4:3).
Doctrine becomes information instead of life.
What was meant to establish the believer becomes something they continually revisit, because it has never been truly received.
But when the foundation is laid according to truth, everything changes.
ALIGNMENT WITH THE PLUMB LINE PRODUCES GROWTH
When the foundation is set in alignment with Christ, the structure begins to rise.
Understanding builds upon itself.
Clarity replaces confusion.
Movement replaces stagnation.
As it is written, “rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith” (Colossians 2:7), the believer is not called to remain at the root, but to be built up from it.
The foundation is not the destination — it is the beginning of something that must grow.
GO ON UNTO PERFECTION
The command is clear:
👉 “Let us go on unto perfection.”
This is not a call to strive — it is a call to move forward upon what has already been established.
The foundation prepares the way, but it is not the end of the journey.
God’s intention has always been maturity. As it is written, “till we all come… unto a perfect man” (Ephesians 4:13), the goal is not perpetual beginning, but full development.
THE DECISION BEFORE YOU
The question is not whether the foundation exists.
The question is:
👉 Has it been laid correctly?
Have you been established…
or have you been circling the same ground?
The call of Hebrews 6 still stands:
👉 Leave the beginning.
👉 Go on unto perfection.
Lay the foundation once.
Lay it in alignment with the truth.
And from that place…
👉 build.
🔥 CHAPTER 2
REPENTANCE FROM DEAD WORKS — THE FIRST STONE OF THE FOUNDATION
“…not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works…” — Hebrews 6:1
REPENTANCE IS THE FIRST TURNING
The foundation of Christ begins with a turning.
Not a turning of behavior alone…
but a turning of source.
👉 “Repentance from dead works.”
This is the first stone laid in the foundation, and everything that follows depends on whether this turning has truly taken place.
Repentance is not merely sorrow, regret, or a desire to change. It is a shift in direction — a turning away from one way of living into another.
But Hebrews does not say simply “repentance.”
It says:
👉 Repentance from dead works.
WHAT ARE DEAD WORKS?
Dead works are not just sinful actions.
They include anything that originates from man and not from the life of God.
Even what appears righteous can be dead if it does not proceed from Christ. As it is written, “they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God” (Romans 10:3).
Dead works are:
- self-effort attempting to produce life
- religious activity without divine reality
- outward obedience without inward transformation
They are called “dead” because they do not carry life. They do not originate from the Spirit, and therefore they cannot produce what only God can give.
This is why it is written that the blood of Christ purges the conscience “from dead works to serve the living God” (Hebrews 9:14).
THE ROOT OF DEAD WORKS IS SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS
At the core of dead works is the belief that life can be produced through effort.
It is the attempt to:
- earn what God gives freely
- establish what God has already finished
- build what God has already laid
But the gospel reveals something entirely different.
👉 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ” (Galatians 2:16).
Dead works do not bring a man closer to God — they keep him from resting in what God has already done.
TRUE REPENTANCE IS A TURNING FROM SELF TO CHRIST
Repentance from dead works is not simply turning away from sin — it is turning away from self as the source.
It is the recognition that:
- life does not come from effort
- righteousness does not come from performance
- acceptance does not come from works
It is the turning of the heart toward God as the only source of life.
As it is written, “by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works” (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Repentance is the doorway into that reality.
WITHOUT THIS TURNING, THE FOUNDATION CANNOT STAND
If repentance from dead works is not truly established, everything built upon it will be unstable.
Faith will become effort.
Obedience will become burden.
Doctrine will become information.
Because the source has never changed.
This is why many remain in cycles — they attempt to build on a foundation that has never been cleared.
Dead works must be removed before life can be established.
WHEN DEAD WORKS ARE LEFT BEHIND, LIFE BEGINS
When repentance from dead works is real, something shifts.
The striving begins to fall away.
The need to prove, earn, and establish is replaced by rest.
The believer begins to stand in what has already been accomplished.
As it is written, “for he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works” (Hebrews 4:10).
This is not inactivity — it is alignment.
From this place, works are no longer dead, because they proceed from life.
THE FIRST STONE MUST BE LAID CORRECTLY
Repentance from dead works is not something to revisit endlessly — it is something to establish firmly.
It is the first stone in the foundation, and if it is not laid correctly, everything else will be affected.
But when it is set:
👉 The foundation becomes stable
👉 The heart becomes aligned
👉 The path forward becomes clear
THE CALL REMAINS
Turn from what cannot produce life.
Turn from what God has already finished.
Turn from self as the source.
And turn fully toward the living God.
Lay this first stone correctly…
and prepare to build upon it.
🔥 CHAPTER 3
FAITH TOWARD GOD — THE TURNING OF THE HEART
“…and of faith toward God…” — Hebrews 6:1
FAITH IS THE RESPONSE TO REPENTANCE
Once repentance from dead works has taken place, something must replace it.
You do not turn away from one source without turning toward another.
👉 This is where faith comes in.
Hebrews does not say simply “faith.”
It says:
👉 Faith toward God.
This is not generic belief, mental agreement, or religious confidence. It is a directed trust — a turning of the heart toward God as the only source of life.
If repentance removes reliance on self, then faith establishes reliance on God.
FAITH IS NOT EFFORT — IT IS TRUST
Many misunderstand faith as something they must produce.
They attempt to:
- generate belief
- maintain confidence
- hold onto something through effort
But Scripture reveals something entirely different.
👉 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
Faith is not striving to make something happen — it is resting in what God has already established.
This is why it is written, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness” (Romans 4:3).
Faith does not create righteousness.
👉 It receives it.
FAITH TOWARD GOD IS A SHIFT IN SOURCE
Faith toward God is not just believing that God exists.
It is trusting that:
- God is the source
- God is the provider
- God is the one who establishes
It is the transfer of confidence from self to Him.
As it is written, “for by grace are ye saved through faith… not of yourselves” (Ephesians 2:8).
Faith does not originate in man — it is the response to what God has revealed.
FAITH ENTERS INTO REST
When faith is properly established, it produces something many never experience:
👉 Rest.
Not inactivity — but freedom from striving.
As it is written, “we which have believed do enter into rest” (Hebrews 4:3).
This is the evidence that faith has shifted from effort to trust.
Where faith is still striving, the foundation is not yet aligned.
But where faith rests in what God has finished, the heart begins to stabilize.
FAITH AND THE FINISHED WORK
Faith toward God is inseparable from the finished work of Christ.
Because what God calls you to trust is not something still in process — it is something already accomplished.
👉 “It is finished” (John 19:30).
Faith does not attempt to complete what Christ has done.
It receives it.
This is why it is written, “to him that worketh not, but believeth… his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5).
Faith stands where effort ceases.
MISALIGNED FAITH PRODUCES STRIVING
If faith is not directed toward God as the source, it becomes distorted.
It turns into:
- self-confidence
- emotional belief
- performance-based assurance
And instead of producing rest, it produces pressure.
This is why many say they have faith, yet live in anxiety, uncertainty, and striving.
The issue is not the concept of faith — it is the direction of it.
👉 Faith must be toward God, not toward self.
THE SECOND STONE MUST BE SET
Repentance removes the wrong foundation.
Faith establishes the right one.
Together, they form the beginning of alignment.
When faith toward God is properly laid:
- the heart is anchored
- the mind is stabilized
- the life begins to build correctly
THE CALL TO TRUST
Turn fully.
Not just away from dead works…
but toward the living God.
Trust what He has finished.
Rest in what He has established.
Let faith take its proper place as the anchor of your heart.
Lay this second stone correctly…
and continue building upon the foundation.
🔥 CHAPTER 4
THE DOCTRINE OF BAPTISMS — TRANSFORMATION AND IDENTIFICATION
“…of the doctrine of baptisms…” — Hebrews 6:2
BAPTISMS SPEAK OF TRANSITION
The foundation of Christ does not stop at turning and trusting.
It moves into transformation.
Hebrews calls it:
👉 “the doctrine of baptisms”
Not singular — but plural.
This immediately tells us that baptism is not limited to one outward act. It speaks of a broader reality — a pattern of transition, movement, and identification.
Baptism is where what has been believed begins to take form.
It is the crossing point between one state and another.
BAPTISM IS IDENTIFICATION
At its core, baptism speaks of identification.
It is the act of being joined to something — or someone — in such a way that what belongs to them now defines you.
This is why it is written, “know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” (Romans 6:3).
Baptism is not merely symbolic — it reveals a union.
To be baptized into Christ is to be identified with:
- His death
- His burial
- and His resurrection
As the Scripture continues, “therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up… even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
MORE THAN WATER — A SPIRITUAL REALITY
While water baptism is an outward expression, the doctrine of baptisms goes far beyond it.
It includes the work of the Spirit.
As it is written, “for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body” (1 Corinthians 12:13).
This is not an external ritual — it is an internal reality.
It is the Spirit of God placing the believer into Christ, and Christ into the believer.
This is why the transformation is not temporary — it is foundational.
PUTTING ON CHRIST
Baptism is not just about leaving something behind — it is about taking on something new.
👉 “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27).
This is the language of identity.
What was once defined by:
- the flesh
- the old man
- the former life
is now defined by Christ Himself.
Baptism marks the end of one identity and the beginning of another.
MISUNDERSTANDING BAPTISMS LIMITS TRANSFORMATION
When the doctrine of baptisms is reduced to a single act, its power is diminished.
It becomes:
- a moment instead of a reality
- a ritual instead of a transformation
- an event instead of a foundation
But Scripture presents it as something far greater.
Baptism is not just something you did.
👉 It is something that defines who you are.
Without this understanding, many remain in conflict between what they believe and how they live — because their identity has never been firmly established.
FROM DEATH INTO LIFE
Baptism marks a clear transition:
👉 From death into life.
As it is written, “if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection” (Romans 6:5).
This is not a future promise alone — it is a present reality that begins now.
The old man is not being improved.
👉 He is being left behind.
And the new life is not being earned.
👉 It is being received.
THE THIRD STONE MUST BE SET
Repentance turns you away from dead works.
Faith anchors you in God.
Baptism establishes your identity in Christ.
This is the progression of the foundation.
When the doctrine of baptisms is properly understood:
- confusion about identity begins to disappear
- the struggle between old and new begins to resolve
- the believer begins to walk in what has already been established
THE CALL TO IDENTIFY
Do not reduce baptism to something external.
Recognize what it declares:
👉 You have been brought into Christ.
👉 You have been joined to His life.
👉 You have been raised to walk in something new.
Let this truth define you.
Lay this third stone correctly…
and continue building upon the foundation.
🔥 CHAPTER 5
LAYING ON OF HANDS — TRANSMISSION AND ORDER
“…and of laying on of hands…” — Hebrews 6:2
GOD ESTABLISHES THROUGH CONNECTION
The foundation of Christ is not built in isolation.
It is established through alignment, connection, and order.
This is why the next principle is:
👉 Laying on of hands
This is not a random act or a religious formality. It is a pattern revealed throughout Scripture that speaks of how God transmits, recognizes, and establishes what He is doing in the earth.
The Kingdom is not built independently — it is built through divine order.
LAYING ON OF HANDS SPEAKS OF IMPARTATION
One of the primary purposes of the laying on of hands is impartation.
It is the means by which something given by God is shared, transferred, or activated in another.
As it is written, “then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost” (Acts 8:17).
Again, “neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery” (1 Timothy 4:14).
This reveals that God uses this principle to establish what He has already purposed.
The hands do not create the gift — they confirm and release what God has given.
RECOGNITION OF WHAT GOD HAS CALLED
The laying on of hands is also a recognition of calling.
It is not man deciding what another will become — it is man recognizing what God has already spoken.
As it is written, “as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul… and when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away” (Acts 13:2–3).
This is not human promotion — it is divine confirmation.
The laying on of hands aligns the visible with what God has already established in the unseen.
ORDER IN THE BODY
This principle also establishes order within the body.
The Kingdom is not without structure. It is not random or disordered.
God places, aligns, and connects.
As it is written, “now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him” (1 Corinthians 12:18).
The laying on of hands is one of the ways that alignment becomes visible.
It connects:
- individuals to purpose
- gifts to function
- calling to expression
Without this, many remain disconnected — having potential, but lacking alignment.
MISUNDERSTANDING THIS PRINCIPLE CREATES ISOLATION
When the laying on of hands is misunderstood or ignored, people attempt to walk alone.
They separate themselves from:
- order
- connection
- recognition
And in doing so, they limit what God intended to establish through relationship.
This does not mean dependence on man — it means alignment within what God is building.
The foundation of Christ includes not only personal transformation, but also placement within the body.
GOD WORKS THROUGH ORDER, NOT CHAOS
The laying on of hands reveals that God does not operate through confusion or disorder.
He establishes through:
- alignment
- confirmation
- connection
As it is written, “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33).
Where this principle is in place, there is clarity.
Where it is absent, there is fragmentation.
THE FOURTH STONE MUST BE SET
Repentance turns from dead works.
Faith anchors the heart toward God.
Baptism establishes identity in Christ.
Laying on of hands establishes connection, order, and function.
This is not optional — it is foundational.
When this principle is properly laid:
- the believer is no longer isolated
- purpose begins to take form
- function begins to emerge
THE CALL TO ALIGNMENT
Recognize how God establishes.
Do not resist order.
Do not reject alignment.
Do not isolate what God has called to be connected.
Let what God has placed in you be:
- confirmed
- aligned
- established
Lay this fourth stone correctly…
and continue building upon the foundation.
🔥 CHAPTER 6
RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD — LIFE BEYOND DEATH
“…and of resurrection of the dead…” — Hebrews 6:2
RESURRECTION IS THE VICTORY OF LIFE
The foundation of Christ now brings us to one of the most powerful realities in the gospel:
👉 Resurrection of the dead
This is not a secondary doctrine — it is central to everything God has accomplished in Christ.
If there is no resurrection, there is no victory.
As it is written, “if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:17).
But Christ is risen.
And because He lives, resurrection is no longer a question — it is a reality.
MORE THAN A FUTURE EVENT
Many understand resurrection only as something that will happen at the end.
But Scripture reveals that it begins now.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me… shall never die” (John 11:25–26).
This is not only future hope — it is present truth.
Resurrection is not just an event to come.
👉 It is a life to be entered.
FROM DEATH INTO LIFE
The resurrection of the dead reveals a clear transition:
👉 From death into life.
As it is written, “even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ” (Ephesians 2:5).
This is not a gradual improvement of death.
It is the introduction of life where death once ruled.
The believer is not waiting to receive life.
👉 He has been brought into it.
THE POWER THAT RAISED CHRIST IS AT WORK
Resurrection is not merely something Christ experienced — it is something He shares.
As it is written, “that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection” (Philippians 3:10).
And again, “if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you… he shall also quicken your mortal bodies” (Romans 8:11).
The same power that raised Christ is now at work in those who are in Him.
This is not symbolic — it is transformational.
THE OLD MAN DOES NOT SURVIVE RESURRECTION
Resurrection is not the improvement of the old life.
It is the end of it.
As it is written, “our old man is crucified with him” (Romans 6:6).
What is raised is not what was before.
👉 It is something new.
This is why resurrection cannot be understood apart from death.
What dies is left behind.
What is raised is of God.
MISUNDERSTANDING RESURRECTION LIMITS LIFE
When resurrection is only seen as future, its present power is missed.
People continue to:
- live as though death still has authority
- struggle as though life has not yet come
- wait for what has already begun
But Scripture declares, “God… hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6).
This is not just a promise.
👉 It is a position.
RESURRECTION ESTABLISHES A NEW REALITY
The resurrection of the dead establishes that death is no longer the final authority.
As it is written, “Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him” (Romans 6:9).
And if death has no dominion over Him…
👉 it has no dominion over those who are in Him.
This is the shift the foundation reveals.
Life is not something being pursued.
👉 It is something that has already been established.
THE FIFTH STONE MUST BE SET
Repentance turns from dead works.
Faith anchors the heart toward God.
Baptism establishes identity in Christ.
Laying on of hands establishes order and connection.
Resurrection establishes life beyond death.
This is the progression of the foundation.
When resurrection is properly laid:
- fear begins to lose its hold
- death loses its authority
- life becomes the governing reality
THE CALL TO LIVE IN RESURRECTION
Do not wait for what has already begun.
Do not live as though death still rules.
Recognize what God has established:
👉 You have been brought into life.
👉 You have been raised with Christ.
👉 You are no longer defined by what was.
Lay this fifth stone correctly…
and continue building upon the foundation.
🔥 CHAPTER 7
ETERNAL JUDGMENT — THE ESTABLISHMENT OF GOD’S ORDER
“…and of eternal judgment.” — Hebrews 6:2
JUDGMENT IS THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TRUTH
The foundation of Christ now brings us to its final stone:
👉 Eternal judgment
This is one of the most misunderstood principles in the doctrine of Christ.
Many hear “judgment” and think only of punishment, fear, and condemnation. But Scripture reveals something far deeper.
Judgment is the establishing of what is true.
It is the setting of all things into their proper place according to the mind of God.
As it is written, “the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son” (John 5:22).
Judgment is not random. It is not uncontrolled.
👉 It is administered through Christ.
JUDGMENT FLOWS FROM CHRIST
Because judgment is given to Christ, it must be understood through Him.
Jesus said, “he that heareth my word, and believeth… is passed from death unto life, and shall not come into condemnation” (John 5:24).
This reveals something critical:
Judgment is not merely future — it is already active wherever truth is revealed.
When truth is received:
- life is established
- alignment takes place
- order is restored
Judgment is not only about what is removed.
👉 It is about what is established.
ETERNAL JUDGMENT IS NOT TEMPORARY
Hebrews calls it:
👉 Eternal judgment
This means it is not a moment — it is a reality that proceeds from God’s eternal nature.
What God establishes does not change.
As it is written, “for we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
This is not merely an event to fear — it is a revelation of what is true in Christ.
Everything is brought into the light of Him.
JUDGMENT REMOVES WHAT DOES NOT ALIGN
When the plumb line is set, anything that does not align with it is exposed.
This is the function of judgment.
As it is written, “every man’s work shall be made manifest… the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is” (1 Corinthians 3:13).
This is not destruction for its own sake.
👉 It is purification.
It reveals:
- what is of God
- what is not
- what remains
- and what must be removed
MISUNDERSTANDING JUDGMENT PRODUCES FEAR
When judgment is separated from Christ, it becomes something to fear.
People begin to:
- dread God
- avoid truth
- resist exposure
But when judgment is understood through Christ, it produces something entirely different:
👉 clarity
👉 alignment
👉 transformation
Because judgment is not against life.
👉 It is for it.
JUDGMENT AND RIGHTEOUSNESS WORK TOGETHER
Judgment is not separate from righteousness — it establishes it.
As it is written, “judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet” (Isaiah 28:17).
The plumb line measures.
The judgment establishes.
The righteousness remains.
This is the order of God.
THE SIXTH STONE COMPLETES THE FOUNDATION
Repentance turns from dead works.
Faith anchors the heart toward God.
Baptism establishes identity in Christ.
Laying on of hands establishes order and connection.
Resurrection establishes life beyond death.
Eternal judgment establishes divine order.
This completes the foundation.
It is now:
- measured
- aligned
- established
And ready to support what is built upon it.
THE CALL TO ALIGN WITH TRUTH
Do not fear judgment — understand it.
Do not resist the light — receive it.
Let everything be measured by Christ.
Let everything be brought into alignment with what God has established.
Because only what aligns with Him will remain.
Lay this final stone correctly…
and prepare to build.
🔥 CHAPTER 8
THE FOUNDATION LAID — NOW WE BUILD
“And this will we do, if God permit.” — Hebrews 6:3
THE FOUNDATION IS COMPLETE — THE JOURNEY BEGINS
With these six principles, the foundation of Christ is fully laid.
It is:
- established
- measured
- aligned
Nothing has been left out.
Nothing needs to be added.
The foundation is complete.
But Hebrews does not end with the foundation — it points beyond it.
👉 “And this will we do…”
This is a statement of movement.
The foundation is not where we remain.
👉 It is where we begin.
FROM FOUNDATION TO BUILDING
A foundation without a structure is incomplete.
It serves its purpose only when something is built upon it.
This is why it is written, “as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation… but let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon” (1 Corinthians 3:10).
The responsibility now shifts.
The foundation has been laid — now comes the building.
But the warning is clear:
👉 Build carefully.
Because everything that follows must align with what has already been established.
WHAT IS BUILT WILL BE TESTED
Not everything that is built upon the foundation will remain.
As it is written, “if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man’s work shall be made manifest” (1 Corinthians 3:12–13).
The foundation does not guarantee the quality of what is built.
It provides the standard by which it is measured.
Everything will be tested.
Everything will be revealed.
Only what aligns with the truth of Christ will endure.
PERFECTION IS THE GOAL
The call given at the beginning now comes back into view:
👉 “Let us go on unto perfection.”
Perfection is not instant — it is the result of building correctly upon the foundation.
It is maturity.
It is fullness.
It is the development of what has already been established.
As it is written, “till we all come… unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).
This is where the journey leads.
THE FOUNDATION MUST NOT BE REPLACED
As growth begins, there is a danger:
Attempting to move forward without remaining aligned to the foundation.
But the foundation cannot be replaced.
👉 “Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11).
Growth does not move away from the foundation.
👉 It builds upon it.
The deeper the structure, the more critical the alignment.
GOD GIVES THE INCREASE
Building does not depend on man alone.
As it is written, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6).
The foundation is laid.
The structure is built.
But the life comes from God.
This removes striving.
It establishes dependence.
And it keeps everything aligned with the source.
THE JOURNEY INTO FULLNESS
The foundation leads into something greater.
It opens the way for:
- understanding to deepen
- revelation to unfold
- life to be manifested
As it is written, “Christ in you, the hope of glory: whom we preach… that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus” (Colossians 1:27–28).
This is the goal.
Not perpetual beginning…
👉 but full development.
THE CALL TO BUILD
The foundation has been laid.
Now comes the call:
👉 Build.
Build in alignment with truth.
Build upon what God has established.
Build with what will endure.
Do not remain at the beginning.
Do not circle what has already been laid.
Move forward.
Grow.
Develop.
Become established in what God has prepared.
THE FINAL WORD OF THE FOUNDATION
The foundation of Christ is not the end of the message.
It is the beginning of the journey.
It prepares the way.
It aligns the heart.
It establishes the truth.
Now…
👉 go on unto perfection.
