Carl Timothy Wray is the founder of The Finished Work of Christ and Zion University. For over forty years he has devoted himself to the study of Scripture, tracing the revelation of Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation. Through hundreds of books, teachings, videos, and free PDF resources, Carl focuses on the Finished Work of Christ, the Kingdom of God, the Book of Revelation, the Throne of God, the Plan of the Ages, and God’s eternal purpose to gather all things into Christ. His ministry emphasizes the full counsel of God, the revelation of sonship, and the progressive unveiling of divine truth throughout the ages.
The Book of Revelation — The Seven Heads and Seven Mountains Revealed examines one of the most mysterious symbols in the entire Book of Revelation. What are the seven heads? What are the seven mountains? Are they kingdoms, governments, authorities, spiritual systems, or something deeper? This book traces the biblical meaning of seven, heads, and mountains from Genesis to Revelation, revealing the contrast between the fullness of beast authority and the fullness of Kingdom authority. Through the Law, the Prophets, Daniel, the Gospels, the Apostles, and Revelation, readers will discover how Scripture consistently uses heads to reveal authority, mountains to reveal kingdoms, and seven to reveal fullness, maturity, and completed administration.

INTRODUCTION
Few symbols in the Book of Revelation have generated more speculation than the seven heads and seven mountains of Revelation 17.
For centuries, interpreters have searched history books, governments, empires, political systems, and world events attempting to identify these mysterious symbols. Yet one of the greatest keys to understanding Revelation is learning that Revelation rarely defines its symbols in isolation. Instead, Revelation gathers symbols that have already been established throughout the Scriptures and brings them to maturity.
The seven heads and seven mountains do not suddenly appear in Revelation. Their roots stretch back to Genesis.
Before there was a beast with seven heads, there was a serpent introducing another wisdom into God’s creation.
Before there were seven mountains, there was the Mountain of God.
Before Babylon reached maturity, Babel appeared as a seed.
Before the beast reached fullness, another authority began working among men.
This book approaches the seven heads and seven mountains through the full counsel of God. Rather than beginning with newspaper headlines or political speculation, we will begin where the Spirit began: Genesis.
We will discover that Scripture consistently uses heads to reveal authority, mountains to reveal kingdoms, and the number seven to reveal fullness, maturity, and completed administration.
On one side stands the Lamb.
On the other side stands the beast.
On one side stands Zion.
On the other side stands Babylon.
On one side stands the fullness of divine authority.
On the other side stands the fullness of carnal authority.
As we move from Genesis to Revelation, we will discover that the conflict between the Lamb and the beast, between Zion and Babylon, between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of men, has been unfolding throughout the entire biblical narrative.
The seven heads reveal the fullness of beast authority.
The seven mountains reveal the fullness of beast kingdom.
The Lamb reveals the fullness of divine authority.
The Mountain of the Lord reveals the fullness of divine kingdom.
This is not merely a study of symbols.
It is a study of two governments, two kingdoms, two minds, and two destinies.
And in the end, only one Kingdom remains standing.

CHAPTER 1
WHY SEVEN?
THE NUMBER OF FULLNESS
Before we can understand the seven heads and seven mountains of Revelation, we must first understand why the Holy Spirit chose the number seven.
Throughout Scripture, the number seven consistently speaks of completion, maturity, fullness, and finished administration.
The first appearance of seven is found at the very beginning of the Bible.
Genesis 2:2-3
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.”
The first mention of seven is not judgment.
The first mention of seven is not wrath.
The first mention of seven is not destruction.
The first mention of seven is completion.
God finished His work.
God entered His rest.
God established a pattern that would echo throughout the entire Bible.
Seven speaks of a work brought to maturity.
Seven speaks of a purpose brought to completion.
Seven speaks of an administration reaching its fullness.
THE KINGDOM SIDE OF SEVEN
As we move through Scripture, we find seven repeatedly connected to the fullness of God’s purpose.
Leviticus 23
Seven Feasts.
Passover.
Unleavened Bread.
Firstfruits.
Pentecost.
Trumpets.
Atonement.
Tabernacles.
Seven feasts revealing one complete redemptive plan.
Isaiah 11:2
“And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”
The Spirit is revealed in sevenfold fullness.
Not seven different spirits.
One Spirit in complete administration.
Zechariah 4:10
“These seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”
Seven eyes.
Complete vision.
Perfect understanding.
Full administration.
Revelation 5:6
“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne… stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes.”
Notice the Lamb.
Seven horns.
Seven eyes.
The Lamb possesses the fullness of authority and the fullness of understanding.
Seven horns speak of complete power.
Seven eyes speak of complete vision.
Everything about the Lamb reveals fullness.
THE BEAST SIDE OF SEVEN
Then suddenly Revelation presents another seven.
Revelation 12:3
“And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns.”
Revelation 13:1
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns.”
Revelation 17:3
“I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.”
Now seven appears again.
Why?
Because seven itself is not evil.
Seven speaks of fullness.
The question is:
Fullness of what?
The Lamb reveals the fullness of Christ.
The beast reveals the fullness of the carnal mind.
The Lamb reveals the fullness of divine government.
The beast reveals the fullness of beast government.
The Lamb reveals the fullness of the Kingdom.
The beast reveals the fullness of Babylon.
TWO FULLNESSES MOVING TOWARD MANIFESTATION
From Genesis to Revelation, two administrations are developing.
One is moving toward Zion.
One is moving toward Babylon.
One is moving toward the mind of Christ.
One is moving toward the fullness of the beast.
One is producing overcomers.
Revelation 3:21
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.”
The other is producing subjects of Babylon.
One is producing the Bride.
One is producing the harlot.
One is producing the Manchild.
Revelation 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.”
One is producing the mature sons of God.
Romans 8:19
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
The other is producing the mature expression of Adam.
The conflict of Revelation is not merely the conflict between good people and bad people.
It is the conflict between two fullnesses.
The fullness of Christ.
And the fullness of the beast.
THE KEY TO THE SEVEN HEADS AND SEVEN MOUNTAINS
When we arrive at Revelation 17, we must remember what we have learned.
Seven speaks of fullness.
Heads speak of authority.
Mountains speak of kingdoms.
Therefore:
The seven heads reveal the fullness of beast authority.
The seven mountains reveal the fullness of beast kingdom.
But before we can understand those seven heads and seven mountains, we must first understand the language of heads and mountains throughout the rest of Scripture.
That is where our journey begins.
CHAPTER 2
HEADS, MOUNTAINS, AND KINGDOM LANGUAGE
SCRIPTURE INTERPRETS SCRIPTURE
One of the greatest mistakes made in studying the Book of Revelation is attempting to interpret symbols without first allowing Scripture to establish their meaning.
The Book of Revelation was not written to create new symbols.
The Book of Revelation gathers symbols that have already been established throughout the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, the Gospels, and the Apostles.
The Spirit of God interprets His own language.
Before we define the seven heads and seven mountains of Revelation 17, we must first establish what heads represent and what mountains represent throughout the Scriptures.
HEADS SPEAK OF AUTHORITY
Throughout the Bible, the head consistently speaks of authority, government, leadership, and source.
1 Corinthians 11:3
“But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ.”
Notice that Christ is called the Head.
Why?
Because He governs.
He directs.
He leads.
He administers.
The head is the seat of authority.
The head determines direction.
The head governs the body.
Ephesians 1:22
“And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.”
Christ is the Head because Christ is the Government.
Christ is the Head because Christ is the Authority.
Christ is the Head because Christ is the Administrator of the Kingdom of God.
Colossians 1:18
“And he is the head of the body, the church.”
Again, the language remains consistent.
Headship always speaks of authority.
Headship always speaks of government.
Headship always speaks of administration.
Therefore, when Revelation speaks of seven heads, we already possess the key.
The heads represent authority.
The heads represent government.
The heads represent rulership.
The question is not whether heads speak of authority.
The question is:
Whose authority?
Whose government?
Whose administration?
CHRIST: THE TRUE HEAD
The Kingdom of God has only one Head.
Ephesians 4:15
“Christ is the head.”
Colossians 2:10
“Which is the head of all principality and power.”
The Kingdom does not have seven heads.
The Kingdom has one Head.
Christ.
One throne.
One government.
One Kingdom.
One mind.
Philippians 2:5
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
The mature Kingdom is governed by one mind.
The mind of Christ.
The mature beast is governed by seven heads.
The mature Kingdom is governed by one Head.
MOUNTAINS SPEAK OF KINGDOMS
Just as heads speak of authority, mountains consistently speak of kingdoms, governments, dominions, and realms of authority.
The first great mountain appears before the fall.
Ezekiel 28:14
“Thou wast upon the holy mountain of God.”
The first mountain is God’s mountain.
The first kingdom is God’s kingdom.
The first government is God’s government.
The mountain represents the realm where God’s authority is established.
THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD
Throughout Scripture, the Mountain of the Lord becomes a picture of divine government.
Isaiah 2:2
“The mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains.”
Notice the contrast.
Many mountains.
One Mountain above all mountains.
Many governments.
One Kingdom above all kingdoms.
Many authorities.
One supreme authority.
The Mountain of the Lord is not merely a geographical location.
It represents God’s government ruling above every other government.
It represents God’s Kingdom ruling above every other kingdom.
DANIEL’S MOUNTAIN
The prophet Daniel gives one of the clearest interpretations of mountain language in the entire Bible.
Daniel 2:34-35
“The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
The stone represents Christ.
The mountain represents the Kingdom.
The Kingdom begins as a stone.
The Kingdom becomes a mountain.
The Kingdom fills the earth.
Mountain language is kingdom language.
Government language.
Dominion language.
Authority language.
THE LANGUAGE OF REVELATION 17
Now Revelation begins making sense.
Revelation 17:9
“The seven heads are seven mountains.”
The Spirit combines two symbols.
Heads.
Mountains.
Authority.
Kingdom.
Government.
Dominion.
The seven heads reveal authority.
The seven mountains reveal kingdoms.
The seven heads reveal who governs.
The seven mountains reveal what is governed.
The seven heads reveal the rulers.
The seven mountains reveal the realms of rulership.
THE GREAT CONTRAST
The Kingdom of God possesses:
One Head.
One Throne.
One Kingdom.
One Mountain.
Hebrews 12:22
“Ye are come unto mount Sion.”
The beast possesses:
Seven Heads.
Seven Mountains.
Fullness of counterfeit authority.
Fullness of counterfeit kingdom.
This is why Revelation is not merely a prophecy of future events.
It is the unveiling of two governments.
The Government of Christ.
And the government of the beast.
The Government of Zion.
And the government of Babylon.
The Government of the Lamb.
And the government of Adam.
In the chapters ahead, we will trace both governments from Genesis to Revelation and discover how the fullness of beast authority ultimately collapses before the Mountain of the Lord that fills the whole earth.
CHAPTER 3
THE MOUNTAIN OF GOD IN THE BEGINNING
BEFORE THERE WAS A BEAST, THERE WAS A KINGDOM
Before there was Babylon, there was Eden.
Before there was a beast, there was a Lamb.
Before there were seven heads, there was one Head.
Before there were seven mountains, there was the Mountain of God.
One of the greatest mistakes made when studying Revelation is beginning with the beast instead of beginning with God.
The beast is not the original.
The beast is the counterfeit.
The Kingdom came first.
Truth came first.
Life came first.
Christ came first.
To understand the seven heads and seven mountains of Revelation, we must first understand the government that existed before the fall.
GOD WAS THE FIRST HEAD
Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
The Bible begins with divine government.
The Bible begins with divine authority.
The Bible begins with divine headship.
Everything flowed from Him.
Everything was sustained by Him.
Everything existed for Him.
Romans 11:36
“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things.”
God was the original Head.
God was the original Authority.
God was the original Government.
Every authority that appears later in Scripture is measured against this original Headship.
EDEN: THE FIRST KINGDOM
Most people think of Eden merely as a garden.
Scripture reveals something much greater.
Ezekiel 28:13-14
“Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God…
Thou wast upon the holy mountain of God.”
Notice that Eden is connected to a mountain.
This is our first great clue.
The first mountain in Scripture is not Babylon.
The first mountain is God’s mountain.
The first kingdom is God’s kingdom.
The first government is God’s government.
The first dominion is God’s dominion.
Before the beast had mountains, God had a mountain.
Before Babylon had kingdoms, God had a kingdom.
Before man attempted self-government, God governed all things.
THE GOVERNMENT OF LIFE
The Kingdom established in Eden was not governed by fear.
It was governed by life.
Genesis 2:9
“The tree of life also in the midst of the garden.”
Notice what stands at the center.
Not the beast.
Not Babylon.
Not confusion.
Life.
The Kingdom of God is always centered in life.
Romans 8:2
“The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.”
The same law that governed Eden ultimately finds its fulfillment in Christ.
The Kingdom of God is the administration of life.
The beast system is the administration of death.
The Kingdom governs through life.
The beast governs through fear.
The Kingdom governs through truth.
The beast governs through deception.
MAN’S ORIGINAL DOMINION
Genesis 1:26
“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion.”
Notice God’s intention.
Man was never created to be ruled by the beast.
Man was never created to be subject to Babylon.
Man was never created for confusion.
Man was created for dominion.
Man was created for sonship.
Man was created to express the government of God in the earth.
The original commission was Kingdom commission.
The original calling was Kingdom calling.
The original mandate was Kingdom mandate.
THE IMAGE BEFORE THE FALL
Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in his own image.”
The Kingdom begins with image.
The beast begins with distortion.
The Kingdom begins with likeness.
The beast begins with corruption.
The Kingdom begins with union.
The beast begins with separation.
Everything that appears later in Revelation can be traced back to this original purpose.
God is restoring what was lost.
God is recovering what was corrupted.
God is bringing creation back into harmony with His original design.
THE MYSTERY OF ONE HEAD
The Kingdom begins with one Head.
One authority.
One government.
One will.
One purpose.
Ephesians 1:10
“That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ.”
This is God’s eternal purpose.
Not many heads.
One Head.
Not many governments.
One Kingdom.
Not many competing authorities.
One Lord.
Ephesians 4:5
“One Lord, one faith, one baptism.”
The Kingdom is always moving toward unity.
The beast is always moving toward fragmentation.
The Kingdom is always moving toward Christ.
The beast is always moving toward self.
THE SEED OF THE MANCHILD
Even in Eden, God was looking beyond Adam.
He was looking toward Christ.
Romans 8:29
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.”
The image lost in Adam would be restored in Christ.
The dominion lost in Adam would be restored in Christ.
The authority lost in Adam would be restored in Christ.
The government lost in Adam would be restored in Christ.
This is why Revelation eventually reveals:
Revelation 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.”
The story that began in Eden reaches maturity in Revelation.
The dominion mandate is restored.
The Kingdom mandate is restored.
The government of God is restored.
The image is restored.
The sons arise.
THE FOUNDATION OF THE WHOLE BOOK
Before we encounter the beast…
Before we encounter Babylon…
Before we encounter seven heads…
Before we encounter seven mountains…
We must first see the Mountain of God.
We must first see the Kingdom.
We must first see the original government.
We must first see the original Head.
The Kingdom came first.
The beast came later.
The Lamb came first.
The beast came later.
Truth came first.
The lie came later.
Life came first.
Death came later.
As we move into the next chapter, we will witness the birth of another authority, another wisdom, and another government as the serpent introduces a rival headship into God’s creation.
CHAPTER 4
THE BIRTH OF ANOTHER HEAD
THE BOOK OF REVELATION DOES NOT BEGIN WITH THE BEAST
One of the great keys to understanding the Book of Revelation is recognizing that the beast did not suddenly appear in Revelation 13.
The Book of Revelation unveils the mature form of something that began in Genesis.
The beast reaches fullness in Revelation.
The seed of the beast appears in the garden.
The seven heads of Revelation are not introduced in Revelation.
They are unveiled in Revelation.
The Book of Revelation reveals the full-grown tree.
Genesis reveals the seed.
To understand the seven heads and seven mountains of the Book of Revelation, we must return to the moment another authority entered God’s creation.
THE SERPENT INTRODUCES ANOTHER WISDOM
Genesis 3:1
“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.”
Notice what appears.
A voice.
A wisdom.
A government.
A source.
The serpent does not begin by attacking man physically.
The serpent attacks headship.
The serpent attacks authority.
The serpent attacks the government of God.
The first battle in Scripture is not over territory.
The first battle is over whose voice will rule.
Whose wisdom will govern.
Whose authority will be obeyed.
The conflict of the Book of Revelation is already beginning.
HATH GOD SAID?
Genesis 3:1
“Yea, hath God said?”
The first attack against God’s Kingdom was an attack against God’s Word.
The serpent challenges the authority of divine government.
The serpent challenges the authority of divine headship.
The serpent introduces another source.
Another authority.
Another government.
Another kingdom.
This is the beginning of beast authority.
This is the birth of another head.
TWO TREES, TWO GOVERNMENTS
Genesis 2:9
“The tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”
The Book of Revelation cannot be understood apart from the two trees.
The entire Bible unfolds between these two trees.
The Tree of Life represents divine government.
The Tree of Knowledge represents independent government.
The Tree of Life represents the mind of Christ.
The Tree of Knowledge represents the carnal mind.
The Tree of Life produces sons.
The Tree of Knowledge produces beasts.
The Book of Revelation reveals the final harvest of both trees.
THE CARNAL MIND IS BORN
Romans 8:7
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God.”
The beast is not merely a political system.
The beast is not merely a religious system.
The beast is first a mind.
A way of thinking.
A way of ruling.
A way of governing apart from God.
Before the beast appears externally, it appears internally.
Before Babylon becomes a city, Babylon becomes a mindset.
Before the seven heads appear in Revelation, another headship begins operating within humanity.
THE RISE OF SELF-GOVERNMENT
Genesis 3:5
“Ye shall be as gods.”
This is the great temptation.
Self-government.
Independence.
Autonomy.
The right to define good and evil apart from God.
The right to rule apart from God.
The right to govern apart from God.
The Book of Revelation ultimately reveals where this path leads.
It leads to Babylon.
It leads to the beast.
It leads to seven heads.
It leads to seven mountains.
It leads to the fullness of carnal government.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION REVEALS TWO MATURITIES
As we move through the Book of Revelation, two things are reaching maturity.
Revelation 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child.”
A mature son appears.
A mature overcomer appears.
A mature Kingdom appears.
At the same time:
Revelation 13:1
“A beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads.”
A mature beast appears.
A mature Babylon appears.
A mature carnal government appears.
The Book of Revelation is revealing two harvests.
One harvest comes from the Tree of Life.
One harvest comes from the Tree of Knowledge.
One harvest produces overcomers.
One harvest produces the beast.
One harvest produces Zion.
One harvest produces Babylon.
THE MYSTERY OF THE SEVEN HEADS
The seven heads of the beast are not merely seven rulers.
They are the fullness of another government.
The fullness of another wisdom.
The fullness of another authority.
The fullness of another kingdom.
The number seven reveals maturity.
The heads reveal authority.
The Book of Revelation reveals the mature expression of authority operating apart from the government of God.
This is why the beast possesses seven heads.
The beast has reached fullness.
The beast has reached maturity.
The beast has become a complete administration.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION IS THE CLASH OF TWO HEADS
At its core, the Book of Revelation reveals a conflict between two headships.
Colossians 1:18
“And he is the head of the body.”
Christ is the true Head.
Christ is the true Government.
Christ is the true Authority.
Standing in opposition is the beast.
The beast seeks worship.
The beast seeks obedience.
The beast seeks authority.
The beast seeks dominion.
The Book of Revelation unveils the final conflict between these two governments.
The Government of Christ.
And the government of the beast.
The Headship of the Lamb.
And the headship of Babylon.
The Mountain of Zion.
And the seven mountains of the beast.
THE ROAD TO BABEL
The moment man accepts another wisdom, another government begins to grow.
The seed planted in Genesis 3 will eventually become Babel.
The seed planted in Genesis 3 will eventually become Babylon.
The seed planted in Genesis 3 will eventually mature into the seven heads and seven mountains of the Book of Revelation.
In our next chapter, we will follow that seed to Babel and discover the first great beast mountain revealed in Scripture.
CHAPTER 5
BABEL: THE FIRST BEAST MOUNTAIN
THE BOOK OF REVELATION BEGINS TO TAKE SHAPE
As we continue our journey through the Book of Revelation, we arrive at one of the most important turning points in the entire Bible.
The seed planted in Genesis 3 now begins to grow.
The independent spirit introduced by the serpent begins to organize itself.
Another authority begins to establish itself.
Another kingdom begins to rise.
Another mountain begins to form.
If Genesis 3 reveals the birth of another head, Genesis 11 reveals the birth of another mountain.
The Book of Revelation will eventually call this system Babylon.
But before Babylon becomes a great city, it first appears as Babel.
Before Babylon reaches maturity, Babel appears as a seed.
The Book of Revelation reveals the harvest.
Genesis reveals the planting.
LET US BUILD
Genesis 11:4
“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name.”
Notice the language.
Not:
“Let us glorify God.”
Not:
“Let us seek the Kingdom.”
Not:
“Let us establish Zion.”
Instead:
“Let us make us a name.”
The spirit of Babel is self-exaltation.
The spirit of Babel is self-government.
The spirit of Babel is independence from God.
This is the same spirit introduced in Genesis 3.
The serpent said:
Genesis 3:5
“Ye shall be as gods.”
Now mankind acts upon that suggestion.
The seed has begun to grow.
THE FIRST BEAST MOUNTAIN
The tower of Babel is more than a building.
It is a mountain in seed form.
It is man’s attempt to establish a kingdom apart from God.
It is man’s attempt to ascend without submission.
It is man’s attempt to reach heaven through his own wisdom.
The Book of Revelation ultimately reveals the mature form of this mountain.
Revelation 17:5
“BABYLON THE GREAT.”
Babylon did not begin in Revelation.
Babylon began in Genesis.
The seven mountains of Revelation are simply the mature expression of what began at Babel.
THE KINGDOM OF GOD VS THE KINGDOM OF MAN
Throughout the Book of Revelation, two cities stand in contrast.
Revelation 17
Babylon.
Revelation 21
New Jerusalem.
One city ascends from below.
One city descends from above.
One is built by man.
One is built by God.
One exalts self.
One glorifies Christ.
One is founded upon independence.
One is founded upon union.
The conflict between Babylon and New Jerusalem began at Babel.
The Book of Revelation simply brings the conflict to its conclusion.
ONE LANGUAGE, ONE PURPOSE, ONE REBELLION
Genesis 11:6
“The people is one, and they have all one language.”
Unity by itself is not necessarily Kingdom.
Agreement by itself is not necessarily truth.
The people at Babel were united.
But they were united around the wrong head.
They were united around the wrong kingdom.
They were united around the wrong mountain.
The Book of Revelation reveals this same principle.
Babylon possesses unity.
The beast possesses unity.
The kings of the earth possess unity.
But their unity is built around rebellion rather than submission.
THE COUNTERFEIT KINGDOM
Babel is the first great counterfeit kingdom.
It imitates what belongs to God.
It seeks a mountain.
It seeks authority.
It seeks dominion.
It seeks influence.
It seeks heaven.
But it seeks these things apart from God.
This pattern continues throughout Scripture.
Egypt.
Assyria.
Babylon.
Persia.
Greece.
Rome.
Each becomes another expression of beast government.
Each becomes another expression of Babel.
Each becomes another expression of the spirit revealed in Genesis 11.
The Book of Revelation gathers them all together and reveals their mature form.
THE MOUNTAIN OF BABYLON
The prophet Jeremiah saw Babylon as a mountain.
Jeremiah 51:25
“Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain.”
Notice the language.
Mountain.
Government.
Kingdom.
Authority.
Dominion.
The Spirit is teaching us how to interpret Revelation long before we arrive there.
Babylon is a mountain.
Zion is a mountain.
The issue is not whether a mountain exists.
The issue is which mountain governs.
The issue is whose authority rules.
The issue is whose kingdom reigns.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION REVEALS MATURE BABYLON
When we arrive at Revelation 17, Babylon is no longer a seed.
Babylon has reached maturity.
The beast has reached maturity.
The seven heads have reached maturity.
The seven mountains have reached maturity.
Revelation 17:9
“The seven heads are seven mountains.”
What began as Babel has become Babylon.
What began as a tower has become a kingdom.
What began as rebellion has become a complete administration.
The Book of Revelation is showing us the full-grown tree.
THE STONE AND THE TOWER
There are only two building projects in Scripture.
Man’s tower.
God’s stone.
Genesis 11
Man builds upward.
Daniel 2:34-35
“A stone was cut out without hands.”
The tower of Babel rises from earth toward heaven.
The stone comes from heaven toward earth.
The tower is built by man.
The stone is established by God.
The tower becomes Babylon.
The stone becomes a mountain.
Daniel 2:35
“The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
This mountain is the Kingdom of God.
This mountain is Zion.
This mountain is Christ’s government.
This mountain ultimately swallows every beast mountain.
THE BATTLE OF TWO MOUNTAINS
The Book of Revelation is not merely the story of seven mountains.
It is the story of two mountains.
The Mountain of Babylon.
And the Mountain of the Lord.
The Mountain of Self.
And the Mountain of Christ.
The Mountain of the Beast.
And the Mountain of the Lamb.
Every chapter of the Book of Revelation moves toward this final confrontation.
The kingdoms of men.
Against the Kingdom of God.
Babylon.
Against Zion.
The beast.
Against the Lamb.
In our next chapter, we will trace the language of mountains throughout Scripture and discover how God consistently uses mountains to reveal kingdoms, governments, and realms of authority from Genesis to Revelation.
CHAPTER 6
MOUNTAINS THROUGHOUT THE SCRIPTURES
THE LANGUAGE OF MOUNTAINS IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION
As we continue our journey through the Book of Revelation, we must now allow Scripture to establish the meaning of mountains.
When Revelation speaks of seven mountains, it is not introducing a new symbol.
It is gathering together a symbol that has already been revealed throughout the Bible.
The Book of Revelation expects its readers to understand mountain language.
From Genesis to Revelation, mountains consistently represent kingdoms, governments, authority, dominion, and places where heaven and earth meet.
To understand the seven mountains of Revelation, we must first understand the mountains that came before them.
MORIAH: THE MOUNTAIN OF PROVISION
Genesis 22:2
“Get thee into the land of Moriah.”
The first great mountain after Eden is Moriah.
It is here that Abraham offers Isaac.
It is here that God reveals Himself as Provider.
Genesis 22:14
“In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”
Notice what the mountain becomes.
A place of revelation.
A place of vision.
A place of divine encounter.
A place where heaven unveils its purpose.
Every true Kingdom mountain reveals Christ.
Every beast mountain reveals self.
SINAI: THE MOUNTAIN OF GOVERNMENT
Exodus 19:20
“And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai.”
At Sinai, God establishes a covenant people.
God gives law.
God establishes administration.
God reveals His authority.
God governs from the mountain.
Sinai teaches us that mountains are governmental places.
Mountains are places of divine administration.
Mountains are places where heaven governs earth.
This principle becomes critical when we arrive at the seven mountains of the Book of Revelation.
CARMEL: THE MOUNTAIN OF CONFRONTATION
1 Kings 18:21
“How long halt ye between two opinions?”
Mount Carmel becomes a place of conflict.
The God of heaven confronts the gods of men.
Truth confronts deception.
The Kingdom confronts Babylon.
Fire falls from heaven.
False authority is exposed.
The Book of Revelation contains the same conflict.
The Lamb confronts the beast.
The Spirit confronts Babylon.
The Kingdom confronts the kingdoms of men.
ZION: THE MOUNTAIN OF THE KING
Among all the mountains of Scripture, Zion stands above them all.
Psalm 2:6
“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.”
Notice the language.
King.
Government.
Authority.
Kingdom.
Zion is not merely a location.
Zion is a Kingdom mountain.
Zion reveals God’s government.
Zion reveals God’s authority.
Zion reveals God’s dominion.
This is why the prophets continually point us toward Zion.
THE MOUNTAIN ABOVE ALL MOUNTAINS
Isaiah 2:2
“The mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains.”
This is one of the most important mountain passages in the entire Bible.
Notice what Isaiah sees.
Many mountains.
One mountain above them all.
Many kingdoms.
One Kingdom above them all.
Many authorities.
One Authority above them all.
Many governments.
One Government above them all.
The Book of Revelation ultimately reveals the fulfillment of this prophecy.
The Mountain of the Lord rises above every beast mountain.
The Kingdom of God triumphs over every kingdom of man.
ALL NATIONS FLOWING TO THE MOUNTAIN
Isaiah 2:3
“And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD.”
This is not the language of Babylon.
This is not the language of the beast.
This is not the language of coercion.
The nations flow toward the mountain because truth draws them.
Light draws them.
Life draws them.
The Kingdom draws them.
The Book of Revelation ends with the nations walking in the light of New Jerusalem.
The mountain ultimately fulfills its purpose.
DANIEL’S GREAT MOUNTAIN
Daniel 2:34-35
“A stone was cut out without hands.”
Daniel sees the kingdoms of men.
Gold.
Silver.
Brass.
Iron.
Iron mixed with clay.
Then heaven intervenes.
Daniel 2:35
“The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
This is one of the clearest interpretations of mountain language in Scripture.
The stone is Christ.
The mountain is the Kingdom.
The Kingdom grows until it fills the whole earth.
The mountain consumes every lesser mountain.
The government of Christ replaces every beast government.
The authority of Christ replaces every beast authority.
The Book of Revelation is the unfolding of this victory.
MOUNT ZION IN THE NEW COVENANT
Hebrews 12:22
“But ye are come unto mount Sion.”
Notice the language.
Not:
“You shall someday come.”
But:
“Ye are come.”
The Kingdom is not merely future.
The Kingdom is present.
The mountain is present.
The government is present.
The authority is present.
The saints are already being gathered to Zion.
The overcomers are already being prepared in Zion.
The elect are already being taught in Zion.
The Book of Revelation continually points toward this mountain.
THE FINAL MOUNTAIN
The Book of Revelation closes with New Jerusalem.
Revelation 21:10
“And shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem.”
The mountain and the city have become one.
The Kingdom has reached maturity.
The government has reached maturity.
The authority has reached maturity.
The Bride has reached maturity.
The overcomers have reached maturity.
The purpose of God has reached maturity.
Everything that began in Eden now reaches fulfillment.
TWO MOUNTAINS STAND BEFORE US
As we prepare to move forward, we can now clearly see the contrast.
The Beast Side
Babel.
Babylon.
Seven Mountains.
Kingdoms of Men.
Government of Self.
Authority of the Beast.
The Kingdom Side
Eden.
Moriah.
Sinai.
Carmel.
Zion.
The Mountain of the Lord.
New Jerusalem.
Government of Christ.
Authority of the Lamb.
The Book of Revelation is not merely the unveiling of seven mountains.
The Book of Revelation is the unveiling of two mountains.
One mountain is passing away.
One mountain fills the earth.
One mountain belongs to Babylon.
One mountain belongs to Zion.
One mountain exalts man.
One mountain exalts Christ.
In the next chapter, we will examine Daniel’s vision in greater detail and discover how the stone cut without hands becomes the mountain that ultimately swallows every kingdom of man.
CHAPTER 7
DANIEL’S STONE AND THE KINGDOM MOUNTAIN
THE BOOK OF REVELATION STANDS UPON DANIEL
One of the greatest keys to understanding the Book of Revelation is understanding the Book of Daniel.
Daniel and Revelation are inseparable.
Daniel plants the seed.
Revelation reveals the harvest.
Daniel sees kingdoms in their development.
The Book of Revelation reveals those same kingdoms in their maturity.
Daniel sees the rise of beast government.
The Book of Revelation reveals the fullness of beast government.
Daniel sees the stone.
The Book of Revelation reveals the Kingdom mountain.
To understand the seven heads and seven mountains of Revelation, we must first understand Daniel’s vision.
THE IMAGE OF HUMAN GOVERNMENT
Daniel 2:31-33
“Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image.”
Nebuchadnezzar sees a massive image.
Head of gold.
Breast of silver.
Belly of brass.
Legs of iron.
Feet of iron and clay.
This image represents the kingdoms of men.
Human government.
Human authority.
Human administration.
The same spirit that appeared in Babel now appears in successive kingdoms.
Different empires.
Same spirit.
Different rulers.
Same beast principle.
Different administrations.
Same rebellion.
The Book of Revelation later gathers these beast systems together into one mature beast.
THE HEAD OF GOLD
Daniel 2:38
“Thou art this head of gold.”
Notice the language.
Head.
Authority.
Government.
Dominion.
The image itself begins with a head.
Daniel is already introducing the language that the Book of Revelation will later expand.
Authority flows from the head.
Government flows from the head.
Direction flows from the head.
The beast of Revelation possesses seven heads because it represents the fullness of counterfeit authority.
THE LIMITATION OF HUMAN GOVERNMENT
Every kingdom in Daniel eventually passes away.
Babylon falls.
Persia falls.
Greece falls.
Rome falls.
Every kingdom built by man reaches its limit.
Psalm 146:3
“Put not your trust in princes.”
Why?
Because every kingdom of man is temporary.
Every beast kingdom is temporary.
Every mountain built by man eventually collapses.
The Book of Revelation reveals the same truth.
Babylon falls.
The beast falls.
The false prophet falls.
Every counterfeit government eventually comes to an end.
THE STONE CUT WITHOUT HANDS
Then Daniel sees something extraordinary.
Daniel 2:34
“A stone was cut out without hands.”
Notice the contrast.
The image is built by men.
The stone is not.
The image comes from earth.
The stone comes from heaven.
The image represents human government.
The stone represents divine government.
The image represents beast authority.
The stone represents Kingdom authority.
The image represents Babylon.
The stone represents Christ.
THE STONE STRIKES THE IMAGE
Daniel 2:34-35
“Which smote the image upon his feet.”
The Kingdom of God does not join the image.
The Kingdom of God does not improve the image.
The Kingdom of God does not reform the image.
The stone strikes the image.
The Kingdom replaces the kingdoms of men.
The authority of Christ replaces beast authority.
The government of God replaces human government.
This is one of the central themes of the Book of Revelation.
THE IMAGE BECOMES CHAFF
Daniel 2:35
“Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together.”
Notice the final outcome.
The image does not survive.
The image is not repaired.
The image is not upgraded.
The image is removed.
The kingdoms of men are temporary.
The Kingdom of God is eternal.
Hebrews 12:27
“Those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”
The Book of Revelation reveals the shaking of every beast kingdom.
Only the Kingdom remains.
THE STONE BECOMES A MOUNTAIN
Now we arrive at one of the most important mountain passages in the entire Bible.
Daniel 2:35
“And the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
This mountain is the Kingdom of God.
This mountain is Zion.
This mountain is Christ’s government.
This mountain is divine authority filling creation.
Notice the progression.
Stone.
Mountain.
Earth filled.
The Kingdom grows.
The Kingdom expands.
The Kingdom matures.
The Kingdom fills the earth.
The Book of Revelation is the unveiling of this process.
THE KINGDOM THAT SHALL NEVER BE DESTROYED
Daniel 2:44
“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed.”
Every beast kingdom passes away.
Every beast mountain falls.
Every counterfeit authority collapses.
But God’s Kingdom endures forever.
This is the hope of the Book of Revelation.
Not the triumph of the beast.
The triumph of the Lamb.
Not the victory of Babylon.
The victory of Zion.
Not the reign of darkness.
The reign of Christ.
DANIEL’S BEASTS AND REVELATION’S BEAST
Daniel receives another vision.
Daniel 7:3
“And four great beasts came up from the sea.”
Notice the similarity.
Revelation 13:1
“A beast rise up out of the sea.”
Daniel sees beast kingdoms in seed form.
The Book of Revelation reveals beast government in maturity.
Daniel sees fragments.
John sees fullness.
Daniel sees development.
John sees completion.
Daniel sees beast kingdoms rising.
John sees beast authority reaching seven-headed maturity.
THE SAINTS RECEIVE THE KINGDOM
The vision does not end with beasts.
The vision ends with saints.
Daniel 7:18
“The saints of the most High shall take the kingdom.”
Notice what Daniel sees.
The Kingdom is transferred.
Authority is transferred.
Government is transferred.
Dominion is transferred.
The saints inherit the Kingdom.
This harmonizes beautifully with the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 3:21
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.”
Revelation 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.”
Romans 8:19
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
The beast reaches maturity.
The sons reach maturity.
The beast reaches fullness.
The overcomers reach fullness.
The beast produces seven heads.
The Kingdom produces mature sons.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION’S GREAT CONTRAST
Daniel gives us the framework.
The Book of Revelation gives us the unveiling.
Daniel shows:
The Image.
The Stone.
The Mountain.
The Beasts.
The Saints.
The Kingdom.
The Book of Revelation reveals the final outcome.
The beast falls.
Babylon falls.
The kingdoms of men fall.
The Lamb reigns.
The saints inherit.
The Mountain fills the earth.
The Kingdom of God stands forever.
In the next chapter, we will examine one of the most remarkable contrasts in all Scripture: the Seven Spirits of God and the Seven Heads of the Beast, revealing two fullnesses moving toward manifestation in the Book of Revelation.
CHAPTER 8
THE SEVEN SPIRITS AND THE SEVEN HEADS
TWO FULLNESSES MOVING TOWARD MANIFESTATION
As we arrive at this point in our journey through the Book of Revelation, we begin to see something extraordinary.
The Book of Revelation is not merely revealing a beast.
The Book of Revelation is revealing two fullnesses.
One fullness belongs to the Lamb.
One fullness belongs to the beast.
One fullness belongs to the Kingdom.
One fullness belongs to Babylon.
One fullness belongs to Christ.
One fullness belongs to Adam.
Throughout the Book of Revelation, these two fullnesses move toward manifestation until both stand fully revealed.
The Lamb reaches maturity.
The beast reaches maturity.
The Bride reaches maturity.
The harlot reaches maturity.
The overcomers reach maturity.
The beast system reaches maturity.
The number seven becomes one of the primary ways the Spirit reveals this mystery.
THE SEVEN SPIRITS BEFORE THE THRONE
The first great seven we encounter in the Book of Revelation belongs to God.
Revelation 1:4
“Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne.”
Notice where these seven Spirits are found.
Before the throne.
Not before the beast.
Not before Babylon.
Before the throne.
The context immediately tells us what spirit is speaking.
The throne is the center.
The Lamb is the center.
The Kingdom is the center.
The seven Spirits reveal the fullness of divine administration.
THE SEVENFOLD SPIRIT OF CHRIST
The Book of Revelation is building upon Isaiah.
Isaiah 11:2
“And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”
The Spirit is revealed in fullness.
Wisdom.
Understanding.
Counsel.
Might.
Knowledge.
Fear of the Lord.
Government.
The Kingdom does not lack wisdom.
The Kingdom possesses fullness.
The Kingdom does not lack understanding.
The Kingdom possesses fullness.
The number seven reveals complete administration.
THE SEVEN EYES OF THE LORD
Zechariah 4:10
“These seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”
Again we encounter seven.
Not seven limitations.
Seven fullnesses.
Seven eyes.
Complete vision.
Perfect understanding.
Nothing escapes His sight.
Nothing escapes His government.
Nothing escapes His authority.
The Kingdom sees completely.
The Kingdom governs completely.
The Kingdom administers completely.
THE LAMB’S SEVEN HORNS AND SEVEN EYES
Revelation 5:6
“A Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes.”
This is one of the most powerful Kingdom passages in the entire Book of Revelation.
Notice what belongs to the Lamb.
Seven horns.
Seven eyes.
Horns represent authority.
Eyes represent vision.
The Lamb possesses complete authority.
The Lamb possesses complete vision.
The Lamb lacks nothing.
The Lamb is not waiting for authority.
The Lamb possesses authority.
Matthew 28:18
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
The seven horns testify of complete authority.
The seven eyes testify of complete understanding.
Everything about the Lamb reveals fullness.
THE SEVEN CHURCHES
Revelation 1:20
“The seven churches.”
The churches are seven.
The candlesticks are seven.
The stars are seven.
Why?
Because God is revealing complete administration.
The Book of Revelation is not merely speaking to seven local assemblies.
The Book of Revelation is unveiling the complete church age.
The complete work of God among His people.
The complete administration of Christ within His body.
Again, seven speaks of fullness.
THE OVERCOMERS AND THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST
The Book of Revelation continually moves toward maturity.
Revelation 2:7
“To him that overcometh.”
Revelation 2:11
“He that overcometh.”
Revelation 2:17
“To him that overcometh.”
Revelation 3:21
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.”
The Kingdom is producing overcomers.
The Kingdom is producing mature sons.
The Kingdom is producing firstfruits.
The Kingdom is producing a people who bear the image of Christ.
Romans 8:29
“To be conformed to the image of his Son.”
This is Kingdom fullness.
This is seven operating on the Kingdom side.
THEN APPEARS ANOTHER SEVEN
Suddenly the Book of Revelation presents another seven.
Revelation 12:3
“A great red dragon, having seven heads.”
Revelation 13:1
“A beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads.”
Revelation 17:3
“A scarlet coloured beast… having seven heads.”
The same number appears.
But the context changes.
The throne is no longer the center.
The Lamb is no longer the center.
The beast is now the center.
The context tells us everything.
Seven still means fullness.
Seven still means maturity.
Seven still means complete administration.
But now it reveals the fullness of another government.
THE FULLNESS OF THE BEAST
The seven heads do not reveal weakness.
They reveal maturity.
The seven heads reveal complete beast authority.
Complete beast government.
Complete beast administration.
The beast possesses its own wisdom.
Its own authority.
Its own kingdom.
Its own government.
Its own administration.
The Book of Revelation is revealing the mature expression of the carnal mind.
Romans 8:7
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God.”
The seven heads reveal the fullness of that mind operating through kingdoms, governments, systems, and administrations.
THE GREAT CONTRAST
The Seven Spirits reveal the fullness of Christ.
The Seven Heads reveal the fullness of the beast.
The Seven Eyes reveal complete divine vision.
The Seven Heads reveal complete beast authority.
The Seven Horns reveal complete Kingdom power.
The Seven Heads reveal complete carnal government.
The Seven Churches reveal the fullness of God’s work in His people.
The Seven Mountains reveal the fullness of beast kingdom.
One seven proceeds from the throne.
One seven proceeds from Babylon.
One seven serves the Lamb.
One seven serves the beast.
One seven produces overcomers.
One seven produces subjects.
One seven produces Zion.
One seven produces Babylon.
TWO MATURITIES STANDING FACE TO FACE
The Book of Revelation is moving toward a final unveiling.
The mature Christ.
The mature beast.
The mature Bride.
The mature harlot.
The mature sons.
The mature system of Babylon.
Revelation 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child.”
The Kingdom reaches maturity.
Revelation 13:1
“Having seven heads.”
The beast reaches maturity.
The Book of Revelation is not merely unveiling events.
The Book of Revelation is unveiling two harvests.
Two governments.
Two kingdoms.
Two fullnesses.
And only one will remain standing.
In the next chapter we will examine the beast from the sea and the beast from the earth and discover how worldly administration and religious administration unite together to form the complete beast system revealed in the Book of Revelation.
CHAPTER 9
THE BEAST FROM THE SEA AND THE BEAST FROM THE EARTH
THE BOOK OF REVELATION REVEALS TWO ADMINISTRATIONS
As we continue through the Book of Revelation, we arrive at one of the most important revelations concerning the seven heads and seven mountains.
Most readers focus upon the beast.
Few recognize that the Book of Revelation reveals two distinct manifestations of beast authority.
Revelation 13:1
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns.”
Then:
Revelation 13:11
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth.”
Two beasts.
Two manifestations.
Two administrations.
Yet both belong to the same beast system.
One governs the world.
One governs religion.
One rules through external authority.
One rules through spiritual deception.
Together they form the complete administration of the carnal mind.
THE BEAST FROM THE SEA
Revelation 13:1
“A beast rise up out of the sea.”
Throughout the Book of Revelation, the sea often speaks of peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.
Revelation 17:15
“The waters which thou sawest… are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”
The sea beast emerges from among the nations.
This beast represents worldly administration.
Political power.
Economic power.
Military power.
Governmental authority.
Kingdoms of men operating apart from the government of God.
This beast governs externally.
It governs through laws.
It governs through systems.
It governs through structures.
It governs through authority.
This beast is the mature expression of Babel’s dream.
The dream of ruling the earth apart from God.
THE SEVEN HEADS OF WORLDLY GOVERNMENT
Revelation 13:1
“Having seven heads.”
The sea beast possesses seven heads because worldly government has reached maturity.
The number seven reveals fullness.
The heads reveal authority.
The Book of Revelation is revealing the fullness of beast authority operating through worldly systems.
The kingdoms of men have reached maturity.
The governments of men have reached maturity.
The administrations of men have reached maturity.
The beast is no longer a seed.
The beast is fully grown.
THE BEAST FROM THE EARTH
Revelation 13:11
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth.”
This second beast is different.
The first beast rules nations.
The second beast influences worship.
The first beast governs externally.
The second beast governs internally.
The first beast controls economies.
The second beast controls beliefs.
The first beast seeks obedience.
The second beast seeks worship.
The first beast represents worldly administration.
The second beast represents religious administration.
A RELIGIOUS BEAST
Revelation 13:11
“And he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”
Notice the deception.
He appears lamb-like.
But speaks dragon language.
He appears spiritual.
But serves another kingdom.
He appears religious.
But serves the beast.
This is one of the great warnings of the Book of Revelation.
Not everything that appears spiritual originates from the Lamb.
Not everything that appears religious originates from Christ.
The earth beast is a counterfeit ministry.
A counterfeit authority.
A counterfeit religious system.
THE FALSE PROPHET
Later the Book of Revelation identifies this second beast.
Revelation 19:20
“The false prophet.”
This beast functions religiously.
It promotes the first beast.
It glorifies the first beast.
It directs men toward the first beast.
It works signs.
It works wonders.
It performs miracles.
Yet its purpose is not to reveal Christ.
Its purpose is to strengthen beast authority.
TWO BEASTS, ONE SYSTEM
Many readers treat the two beasts as unrelated.
The Book of Revelation reveals otherwise.
The sea beast and the earth beast work together.
The political system and the religious system work together.
Worldly administration and religious administration work together.
Civil power and spiritual deception work together.
The kingdoms of men and the wisdom of Babylon work together.
Together they create the complete beast system.
Together they reveal the fullness of beast government.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION’S GREAT CONTRAST
Now the contrast becomes clear.
Kingdom Side
One Head — Christ.
Ephesians 1:22
“Gave him to be the head over all things.”
One Kingdom.
Daniel 2:35
“A great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
One Government.
Isaiah 9:6
“The government shall be upon his shoulder.”
One Spirit.
Revelation 1:4
“The seven Spirits which are before his throne.”
One Throne.
Revelation 4:2
“A throne was set in heaven.”
Beast Side
Seven Heads.
Seven Mountains.
Worldly Administration.
Religious Administration.
The Beast.
The False Prophet.
Babylon.
The Harlot.
The Dragon.
Everything fragmented.
Everything counterfeit.
Everything operating apart from the government of God.
BABYLON RIDES BOTH BEASTS
The Book of Revelation eventually gathers all these threads together.
Revelation 17:3
“A woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, having seven heads.”
Now the mystery is becoming visible.
The woman represents religious corruption.
The beast represents worldly authority.
The harlot rides the beast.
Religion and government unite.
Spiritual deception and worldly power unite.
The earth beast and the sea beast unite.
The complete administration of Babylon appears.
What began in Babel now reaches maturity.
THE FULLNESS OF BABYLON
The Book of Revelation is not merely revealing a beast.
It is revealing the fullness of Babylon.
The fullness of carnal government.
The fullness of religious corruption.
The fullness of human authority apart from God.
The fullness of the serpent’s wisdom.
The fullness of the Tree of Knowledge.
Everything that began in Genesis is now reaching maturity.
THE MANCHILD AND THE BEAST
While the beast reaches maturity, something else is reaching maturity.
Revelation 12:5
“And she brought forth a man child.”
The beast matures.
The sons mature.
Babylon matures.
Zion matures.
The false prophet matures.
The overcomers mature.
The harlot matures.
The Bride matures.
The Book of Revelation reveals both harvests standing side by side.
The fullness of Christ.
The fullness of the beast.
The fullness of the Kingdom.
The fullness of Babylon.
In our next chapter, we will bring together everything we have learned and examine Revelation 17 directly, where the seven heads and seven mountains are finally explained by the Spirit Himself.
CHAPTER 10
THE SEVEN HEADS AND SEVEN MOUNTAINS EXPLAINED
THE BOOK OF REVELATION FINALLY INTERPRETS THE SYMBOL
For nine chapters we have traced the language of seven, heads, and mountains from Genesis to Revelation.
We have followed the trail from Eden to Babel.
From Babel to Babylon.
From Daniel’s beasts to John’s beast.
From the Mountain of God to the mountains of men.
Now we arrive at the passage that has inspired centuries of discussion.
Revelation 17:9
“And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.”
Notice something extraordinary.
The Spirit does not leave the symbol unexplained.
The Spirit interprets the symbol.
The seven heads are seven mountains.
Authority is connected to kingdom.
Government is connected to dominion.
Headship is connected to realm.
The rulers are connected to the kingdoms they govern.
HERE IS THE MIND WHICH HATH WISDOM
Revelation 17:9
“And here is the mind which hath wisdom.”
The Book of Revelation is not merely giving information.
The Book of Revelation is demanding spiritual understanding.
The issue is not intellectual knowledge.
The issue is wisdom.
The issue is discernment.
The issue is seeing through the eyes of the Spirit.
Why?
Because the seven heads and seven mountains are revealing more than political systems.
They are revealing a mature mind.
A mature government.
A mature kingdom.
A mature administration.
The Spirit is unveiling the full-grown system of Babylon.
THE FULLNESS OF BEAST AUTHORITY
Throughout this book we have established:
Seven = Fullness.
Heads = Authority.
Mountains = Kingdoms.
Now the pieces come together.
Seven Heads
Fullness of authority.
Complete government.
Mature administration.
Seven Mountains
Fullness of kingdom.
Complete dominion.
Mature realm of influence.
The beast has reached maturity.
Babylon has reached maturity.
The serpent’s wisdom has reached maturity.
The Tree of Knowledge has reached maturity.
Everything planted in Genesis now stands fully grown in Revelation.
THE WOMAN RIDING THE BEAST
Revelation 17:3
“A woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.”
The woman is not riding the Lamb.
The woman is riding the beast.
The woman is united with beast authority.
The woman is united with beast government.
The woman is united with beast kingdom.
This is the mature union of religious administration and worldly administration.
The same two administrations we saw in Revelation 13.
The beast from the sea.
The beast from the earth.
Worldly government.
Religious government.
Now united together.
THE MATURE FORM OF BABEL
Genesis 11:4
“Let us make us a name.”
Babel began with self-exaltation.
Babylon ends with self-exaltation.
Babel began with human government.
Babylon ends with human government.
Babel began with another head.
Babylon ends with seven heads.
Babel began with another mountain.
Babylon ends with seven mountains.
The Book of Revelation is showing us the harvest of Genesis 11.
What began as a tower becomes a kingdom.
What began as a seed becomes a system.
What began as rebellion becomes a complete administration.
THE GREAT COUNTERFEIT
The seven heads are a counterfeit of divine authority.
The seven mountains are a counterfeit of divine kingdom.
The beast seeks what belongs to Christ.
The beast seeks authority.
The beast seeks worship.
The beast seeks dominion.
The beast seeks government.
Yet everything the beast seeks already belongs to the Lamb.
Matthew 28:18
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
Ephesians 1:22
“And hath put all things under his feet.”
The beast imitates.
The Lamb originates.
The beast counterfeits.
The Lamb fulfills.
The beast promises.
The Lamb delivers.
THE SEVEN HEADS AND THE CARNAL MIND
Romans 8:7
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God.”
The seven heads reveal more than kingdoms.
They reveal the mature expression of the carnal mind.
The mind that began in Eden.
The mind that built Babel.
The mind that produced Babylon.
The mind that opposes the government of God.
The seven heads reveal the fullness of that mind operating through governments, kingdoms, systems, and administrations.
THE GREAT CONTRAST OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION
The Book of Revelation continually presents two governments.
The Lamb
One Head.
One Throne.
One Kingdom.
One Government.
The Beast
Seven Heads.
Seven Mountains.
Counterfeit Authority.
Counterfeit Kingdom.
One proceeds from heaven.
One proceeds from the earth.
One proceeds from the Spirit.
One proceeds from the flesh.
One produces overcomers.
One produces subjects.
One produces Zion.
One produces Babylon.
THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD STANDS ABOVE THEM ALL
The seven mountains appear impressive.
The seven heads appear powerful.
Babylon appears invincible.
Yet the prophets saw beyond Babylon.
Isaiah 2:2
“The mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains.”
Notice the language.
Not beside them.
Not beneath them.
Above them.
The Mountain of the Lord rises above every beast mountain.
The Kingdom of God rises above every kingdom of man.
The government of Christ rises above every counterfeit government.
THE STONE SWALLOWS THE MOUNTAINS
Daniel saw the final outcome.
Daniel 2:35
“The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
The Kingdom of God does not coexist with beast government forever.
The Kingdom consumes it.
The stone becomes a mountain.
The mountain fills the earth.
The government of Christ expands.
The authority of Christ expands.
The dominion of Christ expands.
The Book of Revelation is not the story of the beast’s victory.
The Book of Revelation is the story of the Lamb’s victory.
THE REVELATION OF THE SEVEN HEADS AND SEVEN MOUNTAINS
The seven heads reveal the fullness of beast authority.
The seven mountains reveal the fullness of beast kingdom.
The woman reveals the fullness of religious corruption.
Babylon reveals the fullness of human government apart from God.
But standing opposite the beast is the Lamb.
Standing opposite Babylon is Zion.
Standing opposite the seven mountains is the Mountain of the Lord.
Standing opposite the seven heads is Christ, the Head of all things.
The conflict is now fully visible.
The beast stands revealed.
Babylon stands revealed.
The seven heads stand revealed.
The seven mountains stand revealed.
And soon the Lamb will stand forth in victory.
In the next chapter we will ascend Zion itself and behold the Mountain of the Lord established above every mountain, every kingdom, every authority, and every government revealed throughout the Book of Revelation.
CHAPTER 11
ZION: THE MOUNTAIN ABOVE EVERY MOUNTAIN
THE BOOK OF REVELATION’S FINAL CONTRAST
Throughout the Book of Revelation, two mountains stand before us.
One mountain belongs to Babylon.
One mountain belongs to Zion.
One mountain belongs to the beast.
One mountain belongs to the Lamb.
One mountain is built by man.
One mountain is established by God.
The seven mountains of Revelation 17 reveal the fullness of beast kingdom.
The Mountain of the Lord reveals the fullness of divine kingdom.
Now the Book of Revelation brings us face to face with Zion.
THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD
Isaiah 2:2
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains.”
Notice the language carefully.
The prophet does not say there will be no other mountains.
The prophet sees many mountains.
Many governments.
Many kingdoms.
Many authorities.
Yet one mountain rises above them all.
The Mountain of the Lord.
The Kingdom of God.
The Government of Christ.
The Authority of the Lamb.
The Book of Revelation ultimately reveals this mountain swallowing every lesser mountain.
THE KING UPON ZION
Psalm 2:6
“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.”
Long before John saw the Lamb in Revelation, David saw the King upon Zion.
Long before Babylon appeared in Revelation 17, Zion appeared in the Psalms.
Long before the beast claimed authority, Christ possessed authority.
The Kingdom came first.
The Lamb came first.
The Throne came first.
The beast is only a counterfeit of what already belongs to Christ.
THE HEAD OF ZION
The beast possesses seven heads.
The Kingdom possesses one Head.
Colossians 1:18
“And he is the head of the body.”
Ephesians 1:22
“And hath put all things under his feet.”
The Kingdom is not divided.
The Kingdom is not fragmented.
The Kingdom is not governed by competing authorities.
The Kingdom has one Head.
Christ.
One Throne.
One Government.
One Kingdom.
One Mind.
Philippians 2:5
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
The mature Kingdom is governed by one mind.
The mind of Christ.
THE OVERCOMERS OF ZION
The Book of Revelation continually points toward an overcoming people.
Revelation 2:7
“To him that overcometh.”
Revelation 3:21
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.”
The beast system produces subjects.
The Kingdom produces overcomers.
Babylon produces dependence.
Zion produces maturity.
The beast system produces servants of self.
The Kingdom produces sons of God.
Romans 8:19
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”
This is the purpose of Zion.
This is the purpose of the Kingdom.
This is the purpose of the age.
The production of mature sons.
THE MANCHILD UPON MOUNT ZION
The Book of Revelation reveals the mature fruit of Zion.
Revelation 14:1
“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand.”
Notice the contrast.
Revelation 13 reveals the beast.
Revelation 14 reveals the Lamb.
Revelation 13 reveals beast authority.
Revelation 14 reveals Kingdom authority.
Revelation 13 reveals the mark of the beast.
Revelation 14 reveals the Father’s name in the forehead.
The Book of Revelation continually contrasts two mountains.
Babylon.
And Zion.
THE GOVERNMENT UPON HIS SHOULDER
Isaiah 9:6
“And the government shall be upon his shoulder.”
The Book of Revelation is not primarily revealing the rise of Antichrist.
The Book of Revelation is revealing the increase of Christ.
The beast receives temporary authority.
Christ possesses eternal authority.
Babylon rises for a season.
Zion stands forever.
The kingdoms of men appear for a moment.
The Kingdom of God remains forever.
THE SAINTS RECEIVE THE KINGDOM
Daniel saw this long before John.
Daniel 7:18
“The saints of the most High shall take the kingdom.”
Daniel 7:27
“And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints.”
The beast does not receive the final kingdom.
Babylon does not receive the final kingdom.
The saints receive the Kingdom.
The overcomers receive the Kingdom.
The sons receive the Kingdom.
The Manchild receives the Kingdom.
The Lamb shares His Kingdom with His overcoming people.
THE MOUNTAIN THAT FILLS THE EARTH
Daniel also saw Zion’s final victory.
Daniel 2:35
“The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
Notice what fills the earth.
Not Babylon.
Not the beast.
Not the seven mountains.
The Mountain of the Lord.
The Kingdom of God.
The Government of Christ.
The Authority of the Lamb.
The Book of Revelation ends exactly where Daniel said it would.
The mountain fills the earth.
YE ARE COME UNTO MOUNT ZION
Hebrews 12:22
“But ye are come unto mount Sion.”
Notice the present reality.
Not merely future.
Not merely prophetic.
Not merely symbolic.
The saints are already being gathered.
The overcomers are already being prepared.
The sons are already being formed.
The Kingdom is already growing.
The mountain is already rising.
The Book of Revelation reveals what is being formed now and what will ultimately be manifested in fullness.
THE SEVEN MOUNTAINS CANNOT STAND
The seven mountains of Revelation 17 appear mighty.
Babylon appears powerful.
The beast appears unstoppable.
Yet Isaiah already saw the outcome.
Isaiah 40:4
“Every mountain and hill shall be made low.”
Every beast mountain falls.
Every kingdom of man falls.
Every authority that opposes Christ falls.
Every system built apart from God falls.
Only one mountain remains.
THE MOUNTAIN ABOVE EVERY MOUNTAIN
The Book of Revelation ultimately reveals one great truth:
The seven mountains are temporary.
Zion is eternal.
The seven heads are temporary.
Christ is eternal.
Babylon is temporary.
The Kingdom is eternal.
The beast is temporary.
The Lamb is eternal.
The conflict has never truly been between seven mountains and one mountain.
The conflict has always been between two governments.
The government of man.
And the government of God.
The government of self.
And the government of Christ.
The government of Babylon.
And the government of Zion.
In the next chapter, we will witness the final triumph of the Lamb as the kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, fulfilling the great purpose revealed throughout the Book of Revelation.
CHAPTER 12
THE LAMB TRIUMPHS OVER THE BEAST
THE BOOK OF REVELATION IS A BOOK OF VICTORY
Many approach the Book of Revelation expecting to find the triumph of darkness.
Many approach the Book of Revelation expecting to find the victory of the beast.
Many approach the Book of Revelation expecting to find the success of Babylon.
Yet the Book of Revelation was never given to reveal the triumph of the beast.
The Book of Revelation was given to reveal:
Revelation 1:1
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Not the revelation of the beast.
Not the revelation of Babylon.
Not the revelation of darkness.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ.
The Book of Revelation begins with Christ.
The Book of Revelation ends with Christ.
And the Book of Revelation reveals Christ victorious.
THE KINGDOMS BECOME HIS KINGDOM
One of the greatest declarations in the entire Book of Revelation is found in Revelation 11.
Revelation 11:15
“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”
Notice the language.
Not:
“The kingdoms escaped.”
Not:
“The kingdoms disappeared.”
Not:
“The kingdoms won.”
The kingdoms become His Kingdom.
The governments of men are swallowed by the government of Christ.
The authority of Babylon is swallowed by the authority of the Lamb.
The seven mountains are swallowed by the Mountain of the Lord.
The Book of Revelation reveals the triumph of divine government.
THE LAMB STANDS IN THE MIDST
Throughout the Book of Revelation, the Lamb remains central.
Revelation 5:6
“A Lamb as it had been slain.”
The beast appears.
The dragon appears.
Babylon appears.
Yet the Lamb remains standing.
The beast receives temporary authority.
The Lamb possesses eternal authority.
The beast rises.
The beast falls.
The Lamb remains.
The kingdoms rise.
The kingdoms fall.
The Lamb remains.
Babylon rises.
Babylon falls.
The Lamb remains.
THE BEAST’S AUTHORITY IS TEMPORARY
Revelation 13:5
“Power was given unto him.”
Notice something important.
The beast does not possess inherent authority.
Authority is given.
Authority is limited.
Authority is temporary.
The beast is never sovereign.
The beast is never ultimate.
The beast never sits upon the eternal throne.
Revelation 4:2
“A throne was set in heaven.”
The throne existed before the beast.
The throne remains after the beast.
The throne governs throughout the Book of Revelation.
God is not reacting to history.
God is directing history.
The beast moves within limits established by the throne.
The Lamb governs the entire process.
BABYLON FALLS
Revelation 18:2
“Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen.”
The system that began at Babel finally collapses.
The tower falls.
The mountain falls.
The kingdom falls.
The authority falls.
The rebellion falls.
Everything built apart from God ultimately collapses.
Psalm 127:1
“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”
Babylon is the greatest example of this principle in all Scripture.
Babylon builds.
Babylon rises.
Babylon prospers.
Babylon boasts.
Then Babylon falls.
THE MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB
As Babylon falls, another reality appears.
Revelation 19:7
“The marriage of the Lamb is come.”
Notice the contrast.
The harlot falls.
The Bride appears.
Babylon falls.
New Jerusalem appears.
The beast falls.
The Lamb reigns.
One system reaches judgment.
One people reach maturity.
The Book of Revelation reveals both harvests.
THE RIDER UPON THE WHITE HORSE
Revelation 19:11
“And behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True.”
The Book of Revelation ends exactly where it began.
With Christ.
Not the beast.
Not Babylon.
Not darkness.
Christ.
The rider is not struggling.
The rider is not threatened.
The rider is not uncertain.
The rider is victorious.
Revelation 19:16
“KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
The beast claimed authority.
Christ possesses authority.
The beast claimed kingdoms.
Christ inherits kingdoms.
The beast claimed worship.
Christ receives worship.
THE OVERCOMERS REIGN WITH HIM
The victory of the Lamb becomes the victory of His overcoming people.
Revelation 3:21
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.”
Revelation 5:10
“And we shall reign on the earth.”
Revelation 12:5
“Who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron.”
The Book of Revelation is not merely the story of Christ’s victory.
It is the story of Christ sharing His victory with His people.
The Lamb triumphs.
The overcomers triumph.
The Kingdom triumphs.
Zion triumphs.
The purpose of God triumphs.
THE STONE HAS BECOME A MOUNTAIN
Daniel’s prophecy now stands fulfilled.
Daniel 2:35
“The stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
The image falls.
The mountain remains.
The beast falls.
The mountain remains.
Babylon falls.
The mountain remains.
The kingdoms of men fall.
The mountain remains.
The Kingdom of God fills the earth.
The authority of Christ fills the earth.
The government of the Lamb fills the earth.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION’S GREAT VICTORY
The Book of Revelation is not ultimately about seven heads.
The Book of Revelation is not ultimately about seven mountains.
The Book of Revelation is not ultimately about Babylon.
The Book of Revelation is about the victory of the Lamb.
The unveiling of Christ.
The triumph of divine government.
The establishment of Zion.
The manifestation of the sons of God.
The inheritance of the Kingdom.
The fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.
THE FINAL WORD OF THE LAMB
When all is said and done:
The seven heads fall.
The seven mountains fall.
The beast falls.
Babylon falls.
The dragon falls.
The false prophet falls.
But the Lamb remains.
Revelation 17:14
“The Lamb shall overcome them.”
Not might overcome.
Not could overcome.
Not hopes to overcome.
“The Lamb shall overcome them.”
And because the Lamb overcomes:
The Kingdom stands.
The Mountain stands.
Zion stands.
The overcomers stand.
And the government of God continues to increase forever and ever.
In our final chapter, we will ascend beyond Babylon, beyond the beast, beyond the seven heads and seven mountains, and behold God’s ultimate purpose revealed: that He might gather together all things in Christ and become all in all.
CHAPTER 13
GOD ALL IN ALL
THE BOOK OF REVELATION’S FINAL DESTINATION
As we come to the end of this journey through the Book of Revelation, we must remember where the journey began.
It began with a question concerning seven heads.
It continued through seven mountains.
It led us through Eden.
It carried us through Babel.
It revealed Babylon.
It unveiled the beast.
It revealed Zion.
It revealed the Lamb.
Yet beyond all these symbols stands a greater purpose.
The Book of Revelation is not merely revealing the defeat of the beast.
The Book of Revelation is revealing the accomplishment of God’s eternal purpose.
The beast is not the center.
Babylon is not the center.
The seven heads are not the center.
The seven mountains are not the center.
Christ is the center.
GOD’S PURPOSE BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD
Before there was a serpent…
Before there was Babel…
Before there was Babylon…
Before there was a beast…
There was a purpose.
Ephesians 1:4
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.”
God’s purpose did not begin in Genesis 3.
God’s purpose existed before Genesis 3.
God’s purpose existed before the fall.
God’s purpose existed before sin.
God’s purpose existed before rebellion.
The Book of Revelation is the unveiling of a purpose that was settled before the foundation of the world.
THE GATHERING OF ALL THINGS
Paul gives us one of the greatest statements in all Scripture.
Ephesians 1:10
“That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ.”
Notice the language.
All things.
Not some things.
Not a few things.
All things.
The Book of Revelation is moving toward this gathering.
The kingdoms are gathered.
The nations are gathered.
The saints are gathered.
Creation is gathered.
Everything moves toward Christ.
Everything moves toward the throne.
Everything moves toward the Kingdom.
THE FAILURE OF THE BEAST
The beast promised government.
The Lamb possesses government.
The beast promised authority.
The Lamb possesses authority.
The beast promised dominion.
The Lamb possesses dominion.
The beast promised a kingdom.
The Lamb possesses the Kingdom.
The seven heads could never accomplish what only Christ could accomplish.
The seven mountains could never accomplish what only Zion could accomplish.
Babylon could never accomplish what only New Jerusalem could accomplish.
THE INCREASE OF HIS GOVERNMENT
Isaiah 9:7
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.”
This is the true story of the Book of Revelation.
Not the increase of the beast.
The increase of Christ.
Not the expansion of Babylon.
The expansion of Zion.
Not the triumph of darkness.
The triumph of light.
Every chapter of the Book of Revelation reveals the increase of divine government.
The seals.
The trumpets.
The vials.
The judgments.
The victories.
All reveal the administration of Christ moving creation toward its appointed destiny.
THE NEW JERUSALEM
The Book of Revelation concludes with a city.
Revelation 21:2
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.”
Notice the contrast.
Babylon ascends from below.
New Jerusalem descends from above.
Babylon is built by man.
New Jerusalem is built by God.
Babylon is the fullness of the beast.
New Jerusalem is the fullness of Christ.
Babylon reveals fallen government.
New Jerusalem reveals divine government.
Babylon reveals separation.
New Jerusalem reveals union.
THE TABERNACLE OF GOD
Revelation 21:3
“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men.”
The purpose has never been escape.
The purpose has always been union.
The purpose has never been abandonment.
The purpose has always been habitation.
The purpose has never been distance.
The purpose has always been intimacy.
God dwelling with man.
Man dwelling with God.
Heaven and earth reconciled.
The Kingdom fully manifested.
THE DESTRUCTION OF DEATH
Revelation 21:4
“There shall be no more death.”
Death entered in Genesis.
Death exits in Revelation.
The serpent introduced death.
The Lamb destroys death.
The beast operates through death.
The Kingdom operates through life.
The Book of Revelation closes the great circle that began in Genesis.
Life triumphs.
Light triumphs.
Truth triumphs.
Christ triumphs.
THE RIVER OF LIFE
Revelation 22:1
“A pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
Notice where the river comes from.
The throne.
The same throne that governed Genesis.
The same throne that governed Daniel.
The same throne that governed Revelation.
The throne was never threatened.
The throne was never shaken.
The throne was never challenged.
God was never reacting to history.
God was directing history.
The river flows because the throne remains.
ONE HEAD OVER ALL THINGS
At the beginning of this book we contrasted:
One Head.
And seven heads.
Now the story reaches its conclusion.
Ephesians 1:22
“And gave him to be the head over all things.”
The seven heads fall.
Christ remains.
The seven mountains fall.
Zion remains.
Babylon falls.
New Jerusalem remains.
The beast falls.
The Lamb remains.
Every rival authority eventually bows before the one true Head.
GOD ALL IN ALL
Paul gives us the final vision.
1 Corinthians 15:28
“That God may be all in all.”
This is the destination.
This is the purpose.
This is the goal.
This is the reason for the Book of Revelation.
Not merely the exposure of the beast.
Not merely the judgment of Babylon.
Not merely the unveiling of the seven heads and seven mountains.
But the revelation of Christ filling all things.
The revelation of divine government filling all things.
The revelation of God’s Kingdom filling all things.
The revelation of God becoming all in all.
THE FINAL TESTIMONY
The seven heads reveal the fullness of beast authority.
The seven mountains reveal the fullness of beast kingdom.
The Lamb reveals the fullness of divine authority.
Zion reveals the fullness of divine kingdom.
The beast reaches maturity.
The Kingdom reaches maturity.
Babylon reaches maturity.
The Bride reaches maturity.
And in the end:
Revelation 17:14
“The Lamb shall overcome them.”
The Book of Revelation ends exactly where it began.
With Jesus Christ.
The Alpha.
The Omega.
The Beginning.
The Ending.
The First.
The Last.
The Head over all things.
The King above all kings.
The Lord above all lords.
And the Mountain of His Kingdom shall fill the whole earth forever.
Amen.
