At first glance, this vision appears to describe rivers and fountains becoming blood, leading many readers to focus only upon outward events. Yet the Revelation of Jesus Christ continually calls us beyond the visible picture to discover the spiritual reality that the Holy Spirit is unveiling through the full counsel of God.
The progression of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES is deliberate. The first bowl is poured upon the earth. The second bowl is poured upon the sea. Now the third angel pours his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters. John is not merely changing locations; he is leading us deeper into the revelation. The Spirit now directs our attention toward the very sources from which influence, understanding, and life appear to flow throughout the Adamic world.
The vision immediately raises an important question. Why does John distinguish between the sea, the rivers, and the fountains? Why not simply say, “the waters”? Throughout the Scriptures, every detail is intentional. The sea, the rivers, and the fountains each reveal a different aspect of God’s unfolding testimony. Before we can understand why the rivers and fountains become blood, we must first understand what rivers and fountains represent throughout the Word of God.
The declaration of the angel is equally important. Heaven proclaims that God’s judgments are righteous because those who opposed His purpose “have shed the blood of saints and prophets.” The altar itself answers, “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” This is not the language of uncontrolled wrath. It is Heaven affirming that Jesus Christ is exposing every false source that has opposed the knowledge of God and the testimony of His prophets.
As we study THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, we must resist the temptation to isolate Revelation from the rest of Scripture. John did not invent these symbols on the Isle of Patmos. The rivers and fountains have been flowing through the pages of Scripture since the beginning. The Law introduced them. The Psalms celebrated them. The Prophets warned about them. Jesus fulfilled them. Revelation gathers them together into one glorious unveiling of Jesus Christ.
GOD IS THE FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATERS

Long before John received the vision of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the prophet Jeremiah established one of the great themes of the Bible. God identified Himself as the Fountain of Living Waters. From the very beginning, the issue was never merely about water. It was about the source from which life proceeds.
Jeremiah reveals two completely different fountains. One fountain is God Himself, overflowing with life, truth, and righteousness. The other consists of broken cisterns, constructed by human effort, incapable of sustaining life because they are separated from their true source.
This contrast becomes one of the master keys for understanding the third angel. If God is the Fountain of Living Waters, then every false source that claims to give life stands in opposition to Him. The third bowl therefore directs our attention toward the sources from which humanity drinks. It asks a searching question: From what fountain are men receiving their understanding, their wisdom, their traditions, and their spiritual life?
Throughout history, mankind has continually exchanged the living fountain for broken systems that promise life but cannot deliver it. The third angel reveals that Jesus Christ will ultimately expose every false fountain so that the true Fountain of Life alone remains.
BROKEN CISTERNS CANNOT GIVE LIFE

“As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness…”

Jeremiah develops the revelation even further. A fountain does not merely release water; it continually produces whatever is within it. In this passage, the fountain pours forth wickedness. The image is striking because it reveals that the source determines the nature of the flow.
Here the prophet shifts our attention from the existence of a fountain to the character of the fountain itself. A polluted source cannot produce pure water. A corrupt fountain cannot produce righteousness. Whatever fills the source eventually becomes the stream that reaches everyone downstream.
This principle helps us understand the progression of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The third angel is not merely confronting the visible streams of influence. He is revealing the condition of the fountains themselves. Jesus Christ is exposing the origin of every teaching, tradition, philosophy, and influence that has become separated from the life of God.

One source proceeds from God Himself, while the other proceeds from the wisdom, imagination, and systems of the Adamic world.
David declared, “With Thee is the fountain of life.” Life is not found in religion, philosophy, tradition, or human achievement. Life proceeds from God alone. Every true river begins with Him because He alone is the everlasting Fountain of Life.
Jesus Christ brought this revelation to its fullness. He did not merely promise information or religious knowledge. He promised living water. More than that, He declared that those who receive His life would themselves become wells from which rivers of living water would flow. The life of Christ is not stagnant. It flows. It refreshes. It restores. It continually reveals the Father.
This establishes one of the great contrasts within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. God has His river. The world has its rivers. God has His fountain. The Adamic world has its fountains. One produces life because its source is eternal. The other ultimately produces death because its source remains separated from the life of God.
The third angel therefore exposes a great spiritual conflict between two kingdoms. Humanity continually drinks from one fountain or the other. Every philosophy, every tradition, every teaching, every worldview, and every spiritual influence proceeds from a source. Jesus Christ is revealing that source so that His people may discern between the water that gives life and the waters that only appear to satisfy.
The purpose of the third bowl is not merely to expose false streams. It is to call God’s people back to the only Fountain that can truly satisfy every thirst. Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, Christ is not removing life from humanity; He is removing every substitute that has attempted to replace Himself.
THE THIRD ANGEL JUDGES THE SOURCES

Having traced the biblical testimony from the Fountain of Living Waters through the words of the prophets and into the ministry of Jesus Christ, we now return to the vision of the third angel with greater understanding. John is not introducing a new symbol; he is bringing the full counsel of God to its prophetic climax.
The rivers and fountains represent the channels and sources from which mankind continually receives its understanding of life. Throughout history, these streams have carried philosophies, traditions, religious systems, political powers, cultural influences, and human wisdom that promise fulfillment while remaining separated from the life of God. They have shaped civilizations, influenced generations, and often opposed the testimony of God’s prophets.
The declaration, “they became blood,” is therefore a revelation. What appeared to sustain life is uncovered as belonging to the realm of death. Jesus Christ exposes the true nature of every source that has stood against the knowledge of God. The fountains are not merely interrupted; they are revealed for what they have always been apart from the life of Christ.
This also explains the solemn declaration:
“They have shed the blood of saints and prophets.”
Throughout the ages, the true prophetic voice has continually challenged false sources. Whenever God raised up men and women to proclaim His living word, the systems built upon human wisdom resisted that testimony. The conflict was never merely between individuals; it was between two completely different sources of life.
Now Heaven answers.
The angel of the waters declares that God’s judgments are righteous. The altar itself responds, “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” Heaven recognizes that Jesus Christ is exposing the fountains that have nourished deception and replacing them with the everlasting River of Life.
This is why THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES reveal far more than outward judgments. They reveal the government of Jesus Christ establishing His Kingdom by removing every false source upon which the Adamic world has depended. The third angel does not merely judge the rivers of the earth; he judges the fountains from which they flow. When the false sources are removed, the River of Life alone remains to satisfy every thirst.
Thus, Chapter One establishes the foundation for everything that follows. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture has consistently revealed two fountains, two rivers, and two sources. One belongs to the old creation and ultimately produces death. The other proceeds from the throne of God and of the Lamb, bringing eternal life wherever it flows. The remaining chapters of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES will continue tracing this glorious testimony until we behold the pure River of Life flowing forever from the throne of God.
CHAPTER TWO
GOD: THE FOUNTAIN OF LIVING WATERS

As we continue our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the Holy Spirit takes us back to one of the greatest prophetic revelations in the Old Testament. Long before John stood upon the Isle of Patmos, Jeremiah revealed the foundation upon which the third angel would later build his vision. God declared, “I am the Fountain of Living Waters.”
This declaration establishes the central theme of this entire book. Before we can understand why the third angel pours his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters, we must first understand that God Himself is the only true Fountain of Life. Every other source is measured against Him.
Jeremiah does not merely expose sin; he reveals the tragedy of exchanging the living God for broken substitutes. Humanity continually searches for life in religion, philosophy, politics, education, wealth, power, and human wisdom. Yet none of these fountains possess life within themselves because they have become separated from the One who alone is Life.
The third angel therefore reveals that Jesus Christ is judging every false source that has replaced the living God within the hearts of mankind. THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES are not merely exposing corruption; they are restoring humanity to the only Fountain that can truly satisfy every thirst.
THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE FLOWS FROM GOD

David confirms the same revelation declared by Jeremiah. The Fountain of Life is not found within creation; it proceeds from the Creator Himself. Every river that truly gives life originates in God.
The Psalmist presents a beautiful picture of God’s Kingdom. Those who dwell in His presence do not merely receive blessings; they continually drink from His river. The river flows because the Fountain never ceases. God’s life is eternal, inexhaustible, and continually overflowing toward His creation.
This truth becomes one of the great contrasts throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The Adamic world continually seeks satisfaction from temporary streams that eventually fail. God’s Kingdom offers an everlasting river that never runs dry because its source is God Himself.
Whenever mankind abandons the Fountain of Life, every other source eventually produces disappointment, confusion, and spiritual poverty. The problem is never the thirst of humanity. The problem is the fountain from which humanity chooses to drink.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE FOUNTAIN REVEALED
PASSAGE

“Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Everything the prophets anticipated finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. He is not introducing a new revelation; He is revealing Himself as the fulfillment of the Fountain of Living Waters proclaimed throughout the Scriptures.
The woman at the well came searching for natural water, but Jesus redirected her attention to a far greater reality. He offered life that could never be exhausted because its source was not earthly but heavenly.
Notice the progression. Jeremiah spoke of the Fountain of Living Waters. David rejoiced in the Fountain of Life. Jesus now declares that His own life becomes a well springing up within those who believe.
The Kingdom of God does not merely supply water from without; it transforms the believer into a vessel through whom God’s life continually flows. This prepares us to understand why the third angel exposes every false fountain. Christ desires His people to drink only from Him.
RIVERS OF LIVING WATER
PASSAGE
John 7:37–39
“If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me… out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

The revelation continues to grow. Jesus not only satisfies thirst; He creates rivers within His people. Those who receive His Spirit become channels through which the life of God reaches others.
This stands in complete contrast to the rivers described by the third angel in THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. One river proceeds from the Spirit of Christ. The other proceeds from the wisdom and influence of the Adamic world.
Every river reveals its source. Living water can only proceed from the Living God. False waters proceed from false fountains. The third angel therefore uncovers the origin of every stream flowing throughout the earth.
John understood this pattern because he had traced it through the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, and the teachings of Jesus before recording the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
THE THIRD ANGEL CALLS US BACK TO THE TRUE FOUNTAIN

The purpose of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES is not to destroy life but to remove every false substitute for life. Jesus Christ exposes the fountains that have sustained the Adamic order so that humanity may once again drink freely from the River of Life.
Every false source must ultimately give way before the glory of the true Fountain. Every polluted stream must yield to the everlasting river that proceeds from the throne of God and of the Lamb. This is why Heaven proclaims, “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” Christ is restoring creation to its only true source of life.

The Lord describes two great evils. First, His people forsook Him, the only everlasting source of life. Second, they attempted to replace Him with broken cisterns of their own making. These cisterns promised refreshment, yet they could never satisfy because they possessed no life within themselves.
This principle forms one of the great foundations for understanding the third angel in THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Before the rivers become polluted, the source has already been abandoned. Every false stream begins with a false fountain. Every corrupted flow begins when humanity exchanges God’s life for the inventions of the natural mind.
The third angel therefore reveals far more than judgment. Jesus Christ exposes the emptiness of every substitute that has attempted to replace the living God. Every broken cistern eventually fails because only God Himself possesses eternal life.
A FOUNTAIN THAT POURS OUT WICKEDNESS

Jeremiah now advances the revelation another step. A fountain continually releases whatever fills it. If the source is pure, life flows outward. If the source has become corrupted, corruption continually spreads wherever its waters travel.
This simple illustration reveals why THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES focus upon rivers and fountains. God is not merely judging outward actions; He is exposing the source from which those actions continually proceed.
The prophet does not describe occasional acts of wickedness. He describes a fountain whose very nature is to pour forth corruption. The stream merely reveals the character of the source.
This same principle applies throughout Scripture. Every doctrine proceeds from a source. Every tradition proceeds from a source. Every philosophy, every culture, every government, and every religious system flows from a fountain that continually shapes the minds and hearts of those who drink from it.
The third angel therefore directs the revelation toward the origin of these influences. Christ is uncovering the fountains before He addresses the rivers that flow from them.
FALSE SOURCES PRODUCE FALSE PROPHECY

One of the clearest examples of polluted fountains appears in the ministry of the false prophets. Jeremiah reveals that their messages did not originate in the mouth of the Lord. They flowed from their own hearts.
The source determined the message.
This is an important key for understanding THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The issue is not merely whether words are spoken. The issue is where those words originate. The third angel exposes the fountain before exposing the stream.
Throughout history, many voices have claimed divine authority while speaking from human imagination. The outward appearance often resembles truth, yet the source remains earthly rather than heavenly.
Jesus Christ therefore judges the fountain. Once the source is exposed, every river flowing from that source is likewise revealed.
THE NATURAL MIND CANNOT PRODUCE LIVING WATER
PASSAGE
Isaiah 55:8–9
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah reminds us that the life of God cannot originate within the natural mind. Human reasoning, no matter how sincere, cannot produce the River of Life.
This is why THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES continually expose the limitations of the Adamic order. The natural man may construct impressive systems of knowledge, religion, philosophy, and tradition, yet none of these become the Fountain of Living Waters.
The wisdom that proceeds from above produces life because it proceeds from God. The wisdom that proceeds merely from man ultimately returns to the limitations of the old creation.
The third angel therefore reveals a conflict between two completely different sources of understanding. One flows from heaven. The other flows from earth. One gives life. The other continually leaves mankind thirsting for something greater.
JESUS CHRIST EXPOSES EVERY BROKEN CISTERN

Broken cisterns can never become the Fountain of Life. Polluted fountains cannot produce living water. False prophecy cannot produce the revelation of Jesus Christ. Every substitute eventually reveals its own emptiness.
This is why Heaven proclaims, “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” Christ is not removing life from humanity; He is removing the false sources that have prevented humanity from drinking freely from the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters.
As THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES continue to unfold, the Holy Spirit progressively uncovers every source of mixture until only one river remains—the pure River of Life proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. Every false fountain will ultimately give way before the glory of Jesus Christ, for He alone is the everlasting source of truth, righteousness, and eternal life.

THE RIVERS OF FALSE PROPHECY

This is one of the master keys to understanding the third angel. The issue is not merely the words being spoken. The issue is the source from which those words proceed.
False prophecy has always offered humanity a substitute for the revelation of Jesus Christ. It often appears religious, sincere, and convincing, yet it does not originate from the living Fountain of God. Every polluted stream begins with a polluted source.
Within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the third angel pours his bowl upon the rivers and fountains because Jesus Christ is exposing the origin of every message, every philosophy, and every influence that has drawn mankind away from the knowledge of God.
THEY SPEAK FROM THEIR OWN SPIRIT
PASSAGE
Ezekiel 13:2–3
“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy… Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!”
TEACHING
Ezekiel confirms exactly what Jeremiah declared. The false prophets followed their own spirit rather than the Spirit of God. Their messages flowed from themselves instead of from the throne of heaven.
Throughout the Scriptures, every true prophet speaks as the Spirit gives utterance. The source is always God. False prophecy reverses that order. The source becomes the natural mind, human reasoning, personal ambition, or religious tradition.
This distinction becomes increasingly important throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The third bowl reveals that Christ is not simply correcting isolated errors. He is exposing the fountains from which those errors continually flow.
Whenever the source is corrupted, the river will eventually carry corruption into every area it touches. False prophecy therefore becomes one of the polluted rivers through which the Adamic world continually drinks.
THE PEOPLE LOVED TO HAVE IT SO
PASSAGE
Jeremiah 5:30–31
“A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; The prophets prophesy falsely… and My people love to have it so…”
TEACHING
Jeremiah reveals another solemn truth. False rivers continue flowing because people willingly drink from them. A polluted fountain has little influence until someone chooses to receive its waters.
This passage reminds us that deception often becomes attractive because it agrees with the desires of the natural heart. Human nature continually seeks messages that require little transformation while promising peace, security, and religious satisfaction.
The third angel therefore reveals something deeper than false teachers. He exposes an entire system of false sources, false rivers, and willing drinkers. THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES uncover the relationship between corrupted fountains and those who continually draw their life from them.
The Lord does not expose these systems to condemn humanity. He exposes them so His people may return to the Fountain of Living Waters.
MYSTERY BABYLON’S CUP
PASSAGE
Revelation 17:1–2, 4
“…the great whore… with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication… having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.”
TEACHING
John now gathers together the prophetic testimony. Mystery Babylon does not merely possess a cup; she gives the nations something to drink. Her influence flows outward like a river, intoxicating kings, nations, and peoples.
The cup represents more than a single doctrine. It symbolizes an entire system of influence flowing from a corrupted fountain. Religion mixed with human wisdom, political power, worldly ambition, and spiritual deception produces a stream that appears attractive but ultimately leads away from the revelation of Jesus Christ.
This imagery beautifully complements the third angel in THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Revelation 17 shows the nations drinking from Babylon’s cup. Revelation 16 reveals Christ judging the rivers and fountains from which that cup is continually filled.
The false river and the false cup belong to the same system. One reveals the source; the other reveals the influence.
THE THIRD ANGEL EXPOSES EVERY FALSE SOURCE

The third angel now stands before us with greater clarity than ever before. Having traced the testimony of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Revelation, we begin to understand that Christ is exposing every source that has opposed the truth throughout the ages.
The rivers of false prophecy have continually carried mixture into the hearts of men. False fountains have sustained religious systems built upon the wisdom of the natural mind rather than the revelation of Jesus Christ. The third bowl uncovers these sources and reveals their true condition before the throne of God.
The declaration that they are given blood to drink reveals the outcome of the very system they embraced. The streams that promised life are shown to belong to death. The fountains that claimed to reveal God are exposed as polluted sources incapable of producing the life that flows only from Christ.
This is why Heaven responds with one voice: “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” The judgments revealed in THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES are righteous because Jesus Christ is removing every false fountain that has hidden the knowledge of God from humanity. He is preparing creation to drink freely from the everlasting River of Life that proceeds from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Chapter by chapter, the revelation grows clearer. The third angel is not merely judging outward manifestations. He is uncovering the hidden sources from which the Adamic world has continually drawn its life, so that every false river may ultimately give way to the eternal flow of God’s living water.
CHAPTER FIVE
MYSTERY BABYLON’S CUP AND THE RIVERS OF INFLUENCE

As we continue our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the Holy Spirit now brings together two remarkable visions from the Book of Revelation. The third angel pours his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters, while John later beholds Mystery Babylon sitting upon many waters with a cup in her hand that intoxicates the nations.
These visions are not disconnected. They reveal different aspects of the same spiritual reality.
The waters represent influence. The cup represents what those influences continually offer to mankind. Throughout Scripture, drinking signifies receiving, believing, embracing, and living from a particular source. Every person eventually drinks from the fountain they trust.
Mystery Babylon has become a counterfeit fountain. She continually offers humanity a mixture of truth and error, religion and carnality, outward form and inward corruption. Her influence spreads like rivers flowing through every area of human life.
This is why THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES reveal Jesus Christ judging the rivers and fountains. Before the influence can cease, the source must first be exposed.
THE GOLDEN CUP OF MIXTURE
PASSAGE
Revelation 17:4
“…having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication.”
TEACHING
John carefully describes the cup as golden. Outwardly it appears beautiful, valuable, and desirable. Yet what fills the cup is completely different from what its appearance suggests.
This is one of the great warnings throughout Scripture. Deception rarely presents itself as obvious evil. More often it appears attractive, respectable, and even religious. The outside shines with gold while the contents produce spiritual corruption.
The cup therefore represents more than false doctrine alone. It represents every system that promises life while remaining separated from Jesus Christ. Whenever religion replaces revelation, tradition replaces truth, or human wisdom replaces the Spirit of God, another cup has been lifted before the nations.
The third angel in THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES reveals the end of that deception. Christ exposes not only the cup but the fountains continually filling it.
THE NATIONS DRINK FROM HER WATERS
PASSAGE
Isaiah 55:1–3
“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters… Incline your ear, and come unto Me: hear, and your soul shall live.”
Revelation 17:15
“The waters which thou sawest… are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”
TEACHING
God has always invited humanity to drink freely from His living waters. Isaiah extends that invitation to everyone who thirsts. The invitation is not to religion but to life.
Mystery Babylon presents an opposing invitation. Instead of drawing people to the Fountain of Life, she gathers nations around polluted waters. John explains that the waters associated with Babylon encompass peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. Her influence extends throughout the entire Adamic order.
This helps us understand why THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES are directed toward rivers and fountains. Rivers carry influence throughout nations. Fountains continually replenish those rivers. Christ therefore judges the entire system from its source to its outflow.
Every civilization, every culture, every religious movement, and every philosophy ultimately drinks from one fountain or the other. There is no neutral source.
THE CUP REVEALS THE FOUNTAIN
PASSAGE
Matthew 15:18–19
“Those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart…”
TEACHING
Jesus revealed a principle that reaches far beyond human speech. Whatever comes forth reveals what already exists within the source.
The same principle applies to Babylon’s cup. The cup simply manifests what already fills the fountain. The outward influence cannot be separated from its inward origin.
This truth becomes one of the great revelations within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Christ is not merely correcting outward behavior. He is revealing the hidden fountains that continually produce the streams flowing throughout the earth.
Every river eventually reveals its source.
Every cup eventually reveals what filled it.
Every system ultimately manifests the spirit from which it proceeds.
The third angel therefore uncovers the origin before addressing the manifestation.
JESUS CHRIST REMOVES THE FALSE SOURCES

Returning once again to the vision of the third angel, we now understand why Heaven proclaims God’s judgments to be true and righteous. Jesus Christ is not reacting to isolated acts of evil. He is removing the very fountains that have sustained deception throughout the generations.
Mystery Babylon’s cup has intoxicated the nations because polluted fountains have continually supplied polluted rivers. The third bowl interrupts that entire system. Christ exposes the source before it can continue nourishing the old creation.
This explains why THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES consistently move deeper with each bowl. The revelation progresses from outward manifestations toward the hidden sources that sustain them. The government of Christ reaches beneath appearances and addresses the origin of every false influence.
As these fountains are judged, another river begins to stand above every competing stream—the River of Life proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. Every false cup will ultimately be emptied. Every polluted fountain will ultimately cease. Every river of mixture will finally give way before the pure waters of God’s eternal Kingdom.
The third angel therefore announces far more than judgment. He announces the triumph of Jesus Christ over every false source of influence. The polluted rivers of the Adamic world cannot continue forever, for the day has come when the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters shall alone refresh creation. Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, this glorious purpose remains unchanged: Christ is removing every counterfeit so that all creation may drink freely from Him alone.
CHAPTER SIX
THEY HAVE SHED THE BLOOD OF SAINTS AND PROPHETS

“And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, because Thou hast judged thus. For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and Thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.”

As we continue our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the Holy Spirit now explains why the rivers and fountains become blood. The third angel does not leave the vision unexplained. Heaven itself interprets the judgment.
The declaration is both profound and revealing. The angel of the waters proclaims that God’s judgments are righteous because “they have shed the blood of saints and prophets.” This immediately directs our attention away from natural rivers and toward the spiritual conflict that has unfolded throughout the history of God’s people.
From Genesis onward, there has been continual opposition to the voice of God. Whenever the Lord raised up prophets to reveal His purpose, false systems resisted their testimony. The conflict has always centered upon the revelation of God’s truth confronting the traditions, imaginations, and wisdom of the natural man.
Within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the blood therefore represents far more than physical death. It reveals the continual rejection of God’s living Word by systems that preferred darkness to light.
THE PROPHETS SPOKE FROM THE LORD

2 Peter 1:20–21
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not… by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

True prophecy has always proceeded from one source—the Spirit of God.
The prophets did not invent their message. They did not speak from religious tradition, political influence, or human philosophy. Their words flowed from the living Fountain of God.
This stands in complete contrast to the polluted fountains we have already examined throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. False prophecy originates within the natural mind. True prophecy originates in the Spirit of God.
The difference is not merely one of doctrine. It is a difference of source.
The third angel therefore judges the fountains because Christ is exposing the origin of every voice that claims authority. Every river eventually reveals the fountain from which it proceeds.
THE WORLD RESISTED THE PROPHETIC VOICE

Matthew 23:29–37
“…that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth… O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee…”
TEACHING
Jesus Himself revealed the long history of opposition to God’s messengers. The prophets were not rejected because they lacked sincerity. They were rejected because their message challenged the established fountains from which the people continually drank.
Whenever God revealed greater light, the existing systems resisted that revelation.
This pattern stretches throughout the Scriptures. Abel, the prophets, John the Baptist, the apostles, and ultimately Jesus Christ Himself all encountered resistance from religious systems that had become more devoted to preserving their own fountains than returning to the Fountain of Life.
The issue was never simply persecution.
The issue was revelation confronting tradition.
Within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, Christ now judges those sources that have continually opposed the voice of God.
THEY HAVE GIVEN DEATH TO OTHERS
PASSAGE
Jeremiah 23:32
“Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams… and cause My people to err by their lies…”
TEACHING
False fountains do not merely deceive those who create them. They continually influence others who drink from their waters.
Jeremiah declares that false prophecy caused God’s people to wander. This reveals the tremendous responsibility carried by every source of spiritual influence.
The third angel therefore exposes more than individual error. THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES reveal entire rivers of influence flowing through generations, cultures, institutions, and religious traditions.
When the angel declares, “Thou hast given them blood to drink,” the vision reveals a solemn principle. Those who continually distributed death through corrupted fountains ultimately find themselves drinking from the very nature of the source they embraced.
The judgment reveals the character of the fountain.
Death cannot produce life.
Only Christ can.
TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS ARE THY JUDGMENTS

The chapter concludes with one of the most beautiful affirmations found within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The altar itself responds in agreement with Heaven.
The judgments of God are declared to be true and righteous because they expose falsehood and establish truth. Christ is not acting from vengeance. He is acting from righteousness. He is removing everything that has prevented humanity from drinking freely from the Fountain of Living Waters.
Throughout Scripture, God’s purpose has never changed. He continually exposes darkness so that light may prevail. He uncovers false fountains so that His people may return to the everlasting River of Life.
The third angel therefore reveals the justice of God’s government. Every polluted source that has opposed the revelation of Jesus Christ is brought into the light. Every false river is exposed. Every fountain is measured by the truth that proceeds from the throne of God.
As THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES continue to unfold, Heaven repeatedly bears witness to the righteousness of Christ’s work. The judgments are not arbitrary acts of destruction. They are the glorious revelation of Jesus Christ removing every source of deception until His Kingdom alone remains.
The testimony of the angel and the testimony of the altar become one united witness: “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” When the false fountains disappear and the River of Life alone remains, all creation will know that every judgment of God has served His eternal purpose of revealing His Son and restoring all things to the life that flows from Him.
CHAPTER SEVEN
THE ANGEL OF THE WATERS

“And the third angel poured out his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, because Thou hast judged thus.”

As we continue our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, one remarkable statement immediately captures our attention. John does not simply say that he heard another angel speaking. He specifically identifies “the angel of the waters.”
The Holy Spirit wastes no words. Every detail within the Revelation of Jesus Christ has purpose. If the Spirit identifies this messenger as the angel of the waters, then the waters themselves must occupy a central place within the revelation.
Throughout this study we have discovered that rivers and fountains represent far more than natural streams. They reveal sources, influences, teachings, philosophies, traditions, and spiritual currents flowing throughout the Adamic world. Now John introduces the heavenly witness connected with those waters.
The angel stands as a witness before God, declaring that the judgments poured upon the rivers and fountains are completely righteous. Heaven itself bears testimony that Jesus Christ is judging the sources from which mankind has continually drawn its understanding apart from the life of God.
This becomes another beautiful testimony within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Heaven is not confused concerning God’s purpose. Heaven recognizes that Christ is exposing every false fountain in preparation for the manifestation of His everlasting Kingdom.
THE WATERS HAVE A TESTIMONY
PASSAGE
Jeremiah 2:13
“For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters…”
TEACHING
Jeremiah reminds us that every fountain carries a testimony. God identifies Himself as the Fountain of Living Waters because all life proceeds from Him.
If God is the true Fountain, every competing fountain becomes a witness concerning another source.
The third angel therefore reveals that THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES are uncovering competing testimonies. One testimony proceeds from the Spirit of God. The other proceeds from the wisdom of the natural man.
Throughout history these two testimonies have flowed side by side. One continually calls mankind toward life. The other continually offers substitutes that promise satisfaction while leaving the soul empty.
The angel of the waters stands within Heaven declaring that Christ is perfectly righteous in exposing the difference between these two fountains.
THE ANGEL DECLARES GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS

Notice that the angel begins with God’s righteousness before speaking of judgment.
This order is significant.
Within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, judgment does not originate from anger detached from God’s character. Judgment proceeds from righteousness. Because God is righteous, everything He reveals is righteous. Because He is truth, everything exposed by His light is true.
The angel declares that Christ has judged rightly because the false fountains continually opposed the testimony of God’s saints and prophets. The issue has always been the source of revelation.
Throughout the generations, God continually raised up witnesses who proclaimed His living Word. Opposing those witnesses were systems that preferred the traditions and wisdom of the natural mind.
The third bowl therefore reveals Christ bringing every source into the light of His truth.
HEAVEN AGREES WITH THE JUDGMENT
PASSAGE
Revelation 16:7
“And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Thy judgments.”
TEACHING
The agreement between the angel and the altar is one of the most beautiful scenes within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Heaven speaks with one voice.
There is no disagreement concerning God’s purpose.
The angel declares His righteousness.
The altar confirms His righteousness.
Everything within Heaven bears witness that Jesus Christ is accomplishing the perfect will of the Father.
This testimony reminds us that the bowls reveal the government of God. Christ is not reacting to circumstances. He is fulfilling His eternal purpose by exposing every false fountain and establishing His Kingdom upon everlasting truth.
Whenever Heaven speaks, it points creation back to the righteousness of God.
THE ANGEL OF THE WATERS POINTS US TO THE RIVER OF LIFE

Revelation 22:1
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”

The ministry of the angel of the waters reaches its fulfillment at the close of Revelation. After the polluted rivers have been exposed and the false fountains judged, John beholds another river.
This river is pure.
Its source is the throne of God.
Its waters never become polluted because its Fountain is eternal.
Here the entire testimony of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES comes into focus. The purpose of exposing false rivers is not merely to reveal corruption. The purpose is to prepare creation for the everlasting River of Life.
Every polluted fountain must ultimately disappear before the pure waters that flow from the throne of God.
Every false source must yield to Jesus Christ.
Every river of mixture must give way before the river of truth.
The angel of the waters therefore serves as Heaven’s witness that God’s work is righteous from beginning to end. The third angel pours out the bowl upon the rivers and fountains so that the whole creation may ultimately drink from one source alone—the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters revealed in Jesus Christ.
As THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES continue to unfold, we see ever more clearly that Christ is removing every competing source of life until the River proceeding from the throne of God fills all things. The testimony of the angel, the testimony of the altar, and the testimony of the River of Life all proclaim the same glorious truth: Jesus Christ alone is the everlasting Fountain from whom eternal life forever flows.
CHAPTER EIGHT
THE RIVERS BECOME BLOOD
PASSAGE
Revelation 16:4
“And the third angel poured out his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.”

As we continue our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, we now arrive at the central declaration of the third bowl. John simply states, “They became blood.” The Holy Spirit gives no lengthy explanation at this point because the full counsel of God has already established the meaning through the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The rivers once appeared to give life.
The fountains appeared to satisfy the thirst of mankind.
The streams seemed to nourish the nations.
Yet when the bowl of God’s revelation is poured upon them, their true condition is uncovered. What appeared to be life is revealed to belong to death.
This is the ministry of Jesus Christ throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. He does not create corruption by pouring out the bowl. He reveals what has always existed beneath the outward appearance. The light of Christ exposes the true nature of every source.
THE BOWL REVEALS THE TRUE CONDITION
PASSAGE
Hebrews 4:12–13
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight…”
TEACHING
The Word of God has always revealed the true condition of the heart. Nothing remains hidden before the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
The third bowl functions in exactly this manner. The revelation of Jesus Christ exposes what has been concealed beneath outward appearances. False fountains may appear beautiful. Polluted rivers may appear refreshing. Religious systems may appear successful. Yet the Word of God discerns the source from which they proceed.
Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, every bowl uncovers another layer of reality. Christ is not producing darkness; He is revealing it. He is not creating death; He is exposing every source that has remained separated from His life.
Only when truth shines upon the fountain can its waters be properly discerned.
THE LIFE OF THE FLESH IS IN THE BLOOD
PASSAGE
Leviticus 17:11
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood…”
TEACHING
The Scriptures consistently associate blood with life. Yet they also reveal that the life of the flesh belongs to the natural order.
Within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the rivers becoming blood reveal that these sources belong to the Adamic order rather than the life that proceeds from God. What humanity believed to be spiritual life is shown to be sustained by the life of the flesh.
This becomes one of the great contrasts throughout Scripture.
There is the life of the flesh.
There is the life of the Spirit.
There is the wisdom that is earthly.
There is the wisdom that descends from above.
The third angel exposes this distinction by uncovering the true character of every fountain.
Christ reveals that no stream originating within the old creation can become the everlasting River of Life.
THE FALSE RIVERS CANNOT PRODUCE ETERNAL LIFE

Jesus settles the matter completely.
Life proceeds from the Spirit.
The flesh cannot produce eternal life regardless of how impressive its outward appearance may become.
This is precisely what the third bowl demonstrates throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Every river flowing from the wisdom of the natural man ultimately belongs to the realm of the flesh. It may educate, inspire, organize, entertain, or even appear religious, yet it cannot communicate the life that flows only from Jesus Christ.
The third angel therefore reveals the great separation between the rivers of the Adamic world and the River of Life proceeding from the throne of God.
Only Christ gives living water.
Everything else eventually reveals its inability to satisfy the deepest thirst of the human heart.

Throughout this study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, we have traced the biblical thread from the Fountain of Living Waters in Jeremiah to the River of Life in Revelation. We have seen false fountains, broken cisterns, polluted rivers, Babylon’s intoxicating cup, and the continual conflict between the wisdom of heaven and the wisdom of the natural man.
Now the third bowl gathers every one of those themes into one glorious revelation.
Jesus Christ uncovers the source.
He reveals the fountain.
He exposes the river.
He judges righteously because His purpose is truth.
The rivers become blood because they never possessed the life of God. They merely reflected the life of the old creation. When the light of Christ shines upon them, their true condition can no longer remain hidden.
This is why Heaven rejoices throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. God’s judgments are not arbitrary acts of destruction. They are the righteous unveiling of Jesus Christ, removing every false confidence until humanity discovers that eternal life has always flowed from one Fountain alone.
The third angel therefore prepares the way for the ultimate victory of God’s Kingdom. As every polluted river is exposed, the pure River of Life shines with even greater glory, inviting all who thirst to drink freely from the throne of God and of the Lamb. When every false source has passed away, only Jesus Christ will remain as the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters, and all creation will know that His judgments have been true and righteous from the very beginning.
CHAPTER NINE
THE RIVER OF LIFE VERSUS THE RIVERS OF DEATH
PASSAGE
Revelation 22:1–2
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it… was there the tree of life… and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
TEACHING
As we continue our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the Holy Spirit now brings us to the glorious conclusion toward which the entire Book of Revelation has been moving. After exposing the polluted rivers and corrupted fountains of the Adamic world, John beholds another river altogether. This river is pure. It is clear as crystal. Most importantly, it proceeds directly from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
This is the great contrast revealed throughout Scripture.
The rivers judged by the third angel originate in the fallen order of man.
The River of Life originates in the throne of God.
One fountain continually produces death because it is separated from the life of God. The other continually produces life because God Himself is its eternal source.
Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, Jesus Christ is revealing this contrast so clearly that every believer may discern the difference between the waters that merely promise life and the River that truly gives life.
PASSAGE
Genesis 2:10
“And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.”
TEACHING
The testimony of the River of Life did not begin in Revelation. It began in Genesis. From the very beginning of God’s revelation, a river flowed out from His presence to bring life, fruitfulness, and blessing.
This establishes one of the most beautiful themes within THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The Bible begins with a river flowing from God, and it ends with a river flowing from God. The purpose has never changed. God’s desire has always been to fill His creation with His own life.
The tragedy entered when humanity chose another source. Instead of continually drinking from the life that proceeded from God, mankind began constructing broken cisterns and polluted fountains of its own making.
The third angel announces the beginning of the end for those false sources.
PASSAGE
Ezekiel 47:1, 9
“Behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house… And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live.”
TEACHING
Ezekiel was given a magnificent vision of waters flowing from the house of God. Unlike the polluted rivers judged in THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, these waters brought healing wherever they flowed.
Everything touched by this river received life.
Everything nourished by this river flourished.
Everything connected to its source was restored.
Ezekiel’s vision prepares us for John’s final vision in Revelation. Both prophets reveal that life always proceeds from God Himself.
This allows us to understand why the third angel pours his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of the Adamic world. Christ is removing every competing source so that the life proceeding from His throne may be clearly seen.
PASSAGE
John 7:37–39
“…If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink… out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
TEACHING
Jesus Christ now becomes the fulfillment of every river revealed throughout the Scriptures.
The River of Life is no longer merely a prophetic picture.
It is revealed in the Person of Jesus Christ.
Those who receive His Spirit become vessels through whom the life of God continually flows into the world.
This stands in complete contrast to the rivers exposed throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. One set of rivers continually spreads mixture, deception, and spiritual death. The other continually reveals Christ, truth, righteousness, and eternal life.
Every believer must therefore ask a simple question:
From which river am I drinking?
The answer to that question ultimately determines the character of the life flowing from within us.
PASSAGE
Revelation 16:4–7
“And the third angel poured out his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters…”
TEACHING
The third angel is now seen in its fullest biblical context. His ministry is not centered merely upon exposing corruption. His ministry prepares creation for the everlasting River of Life.
The rivers become blood because they cannot communicate the life of God.
The Fountain of Living Waters remains because His life can never fail.
Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, every bowl progressively removes another aspect of the old creation until only Christ remains as the source of everlasting life.
This is why Heaven continually proclaims, “True and righteous are Thy judgments.” The judgments are true because they remove every counterfeit. They are righteous because they restore humanity to its only true Fountain.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Holy Spirit has revealed only two great rivers.
One proceeds from the wisdom of the Adamic world.
The other proceeds from the throne of God.
One ultimately leads to death.
The other continually ministers life.
As the third angel pours out his bowl, Jesus Christ reveals the difference between these two rivers with unmistakable clarity. Every polluted stream must eventually give way before the pure River of Life flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
This is the glorious hope proclaimed throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Christ is not merely exposing the rivers of death. He is preparing all creation to drink forever from the River of Life. When every false fountain has disappeared and every polluted stream has ceased, the whole creation will rejoice in the everlasting waters that flow from God alone, and His Kingdom shall fill the earth with righteousness, peace, and eternal life.
CHAPTER TEN
JESUS CHRIST DRIES UP EVERY FALSE SOURCE
PASSAGE
Revelation 16:4–7
“And the third angel poured out his bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood… And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord… For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and Thou hast given them blood to drink… And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Thy judgments.”
TEACHING
As we arrive at the climax of our study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, the purpose of the third angel now stands before us with remarkable clarity. Throughout this journey, we have traced the biblical testimony concerning rivers, fountains, wells, streams, and the River of Life from Genesis to Revelation. Every passage has pointed us toward one central truth: Jesus Christ alone is the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters.
The third angel does not merely expose polluted rivers. He reveals the fountains from which they continually flow. The bowl is poured upon the sources because Christ is removing every influence that has sustained the Adamic world apart from the life of God.
This is why Heaven repeatedly declares God’s judgments to be righteous. Every false source must ultimately give way before the revelation of Jesus Christ.
PASSAGE
Isaiah 55:10–11
“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven… and watereth the earth… So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void…”
TEACHING
Isaiah reveals another beautiful picture of God’s government. His Word flows like rain from heaven. Wherever it is received, it produces life, fruitfulness, and fulfillment.
This stands in complete contrast to the polluted rivers exposed throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. The Word proceeding from God always accomplishes His purpose because it carries His own life within it.
Human systems continually attempt to imitate that life through religious traditions, philosophies, institutions, and earthly wisdom. Yet every substitute ultimately proves incapable of producing what only the living Word can accomplish.
The third angel therefore reveals the triumph of God’s Word over every competing source.
PASSAGE
John 15:1–5
“I am the true vine… He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.”
TEACHING
Jesus now declares Himself to be the true source of all spiritual life.
Not merely a source.
The true source.
Every branch receives its life from the vine. Once separated from Christ, fruitfulness disappears because the source has been abandoned.
The same principle governs the revelation of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. Every polluted river ultimately traces back to a source separated from Christ. Every living river proceeds from union with Him.
The third angel therefore reveals more than judgment. He calls God’s people back into abiding fellowship with the One from whom all life continually flows.
PASSAGE
Colossians 2:6–10
“…rooted and built up in Him… Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit… For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him.”
TEACHING
Paul warns believers against drawing life from the philosophies and traditions of men. These systems may appear wise, yet they cannot produce the fullness found only in Jesus Christ.
How beautifully this harmonizes with the third bowl.
Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, Christ exposes every fountain that competes with His sufficiency. Religious tradition cannot replace Him. Human wisdom cannot replace Him. Political power cannot replace Him. Intellectual achievement cannot replace Him.
Our completeness is found in Christ alone because He alone is the Fountain of Living Waters.
Every competing source eventually proves itself to be a broken cistern.
PASSAGE
Revelation 22:1–2
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
TEACHING
The Revelation of Jesus Christ ends where God’s eternal purpose has always been leading.
After every false fountain has been exposed…
After every polluted river has been judged…
After every broken cistern has failed…
John beholds one final river.
It is pure.
It is clear.
It proceeds from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
This river never becomes polluted because its source is eternal. It never ceases because God Himself is its Fountain. It never fails because Jesus Christ is its life.
Here the entire testimony of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES reaches its glorious fulfillment. The bowls are not merely revelations of judgment. They are revelations of restoration. Christ removes every false source so that all creation may freely drink from the everlasting River of Life.
The third angel therefore announces one of the greatest victories in all of Scripture. Jesus Christ uncovers every false fountain until His own life alone remains. Every polluted stream passes away before the crystal-clear waters proceeding from the throne of God.
From Genesis to Revelation, there has always been one true Fountain.
One true River.
One true Source.
That Source is Jesus Christ.
As THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES reveal His righteous government, every counterfeit is brought into the light, every polluted fountain is exposed, and every false river loses its influence before the glory of the Son of God. The purpose of the third angel is therefore fulfilled—not merely in exposing death, but in revealing everlasting life.
The final testimony of this book is the testimony of the whole Bible: God Himself is the Fountain of Living Waters, Jesus Christ is the River of Life, and the Holy Spirit continually invites every thirsty heart to drink freely from the everlasting waters that flow from the throne of God forever.
CONCLUSION
FROM POLLUTED FOUNTAINS TO THE RIVER OF LIFE
The journey through THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES has revealed far more than a series of prophetic judgments. It has unveiled the progressive revelation of Jesus Christ as He exposes every false source of life and establishes Himself as the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters. The third angel does not merely pour his bowl upon natural rivers and springs. He reveals the spiritual sources from which the Adamic world has continually drawn its understanding, its traditions, its philosophies, and its religious systems.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Holy Spirit has woven together one continuous testimony. A river flowed from Eden to water the garden. David declared that with God is the Fountain of Life. Jeremiah warned God’s people not to forsake the Fountain of Living Waters for broken cisterns. The prophets exposed fountains that poured forth wickedness and false visions. Jesus Christ stood and cried, “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me and drink.” Finally, John beheld the pure River of Life proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
The third angel gathers all of these prophetic threads into one glorious revelation.
Throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, we have discovered that every river reveals its source. Every fountain produces after its own nature. Every stream carries the life of the fountain from which it proceeds. This is why Jesus Christ pours His bowl upon the rivers and fountains of waters. He is revealing the true nature of every source that has stood in competition with the life of God.
The declaration, “They became blood,” is not merely a picture of devastation. It is the unveiling of reality. What appeared to offer life is revealed to belong to the old Adamic order. The rivers that promised satisfaction are exposed as incapable of imparting eternal life because they do not proceed from the throne of God.
Heaven therefore answers with one united voice:
“True and righteous are Thy judgments.”
The angel of the waters declares God’s righteousness.
The altar confirms God’s righteousness.
The entire testimony of heaven bears witness that Jesus Christ judges in truth because His purpose is not destruction but restoration. He removes every counterfeit fountain so that creation may once again drink freely from the everlasting River of Life.
This is the great hope revealed throughout THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES. God has never abandoned His eternal purpose. From the beginning, He has desired that all life should flow from Himself. Every false fountain is temporary. Every polluted river will one day cease. Every broken cistern will ultimately fail. But the River of Life proceeding from the throne of God will never cease to flow.
The third angel therefore announces the triumph of Jesus Christ over every false source of influence. Human wisdom must yield to the wisdom of God. Religious tradition must yield to the revelation of Christ. The philosophies of this world must yield to the truth that proceeds from the throne of heaven. Every competing fountain must bow before the One who alone is the Fountain of Living Waters.
As we conclude this study of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES, may we continually examine the source from which we drink. May every teaching, every tradition, every influence, and every belief be measured by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Let us forsake every broken cistern and every polluted fountain that cannot satisfy the soul, and let us draw near to the One who forever declares:
“If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.”
The final vision of Scripture is not one of death but of life. It is not a polluted river, but a crystal-clear river proceeding from the throne of God. It is not the triumph of Babylon, but the triumph of the Lamb. It is not the reign of false fountains, but the everlasting reign of Jesus Christ.
May we forever drink from that River.
May we forever abide in that Fountain.
May we forever proclaim that Jesus Christ alone is the everlasting Fountain of Living Waters, and may the glorious revelation of THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES continually lead every thirsty heart to Him, until the knowledge of the Lord fills the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen.
