THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES: How the Fourth Angel Reveals, Exposes, Purifies, and Brings the Sun Realm Under the Government of Jesus Christ
Carl Timothy Wray is a Bible teacher and author devoted to revealing Jesus Christ through the full counsel of God. His writings trace the purpose of God from Genesis to Revelation, emphasizing the finished work of Christ, the gospel of grace, the kingdom of God, the reconciliation of all things, and the progressive unveiling of Jesus Christ within His creation.
In THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES — REVELATION 16:8–9: The Fourth Angel and the Sun Realm, Carl Timothy Wray continues his Christ-centered study of the seven last plagues by examining the fourth angel and the bowl poured upon the sun. Rather than interpreting John’s vision merely as a prediction of physical catastrophe, this study searches the Scriptures to uncover the spiritual meaning of the sun, light, heat, fire, rulership, dominion, the old heavens, and the new heavens.
From the fourth day of creation, when God appointed the greater light to rule the day, to the Sun of Righteousness arising with healing in His wings, and finally to the New Jerusalem where the Lamb is the Light, Scripture reveals a magnificent testimony concerning divine light and government.
At the center of this book is a powerful truth: the same Sun can be experienced differently by two different worlds. What brings healing, glory, and life to the new creation exposes, scorches, and judges the corruption of the old Adamic order. Jesus Christ does not change. Truth does not change. Light does not change. But when Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
The purpose of the Fourth Bowl is therefore not endless destruction. It is revelation, exposure, purification, transformation, and the establishment of the government of Jesus Christ.
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES — REVELATION 16:8–9: The Fourth Angel and the Sun Realm by Carl Timothy Wray is a Christ-centered biblical study of the fourth bowl in the book of Revelation. This study examines the spiritual meaning of the sun, scorching heat, divine fire, rulership, authority, the old heavens, the new heavens, and the government of Jesus Christ. Following the revelation from Genesis to Revelation, the book explores the greater light appointed to rule in Genesis, the Lord God as a Sun, Jesus Christ as the Sun of Righteousness, the fervent heat that accompanies the passing of the old world, the woman clothed with the sun, and the New Jerusalem illuminated by the glory of God and the Lamb. The Seven Last Plagues reveals how the same divine Light that heals and gives life to the new creation exposes, judges, and purifies the corruptible Adamic world until all things are brought under the righteous government of Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION
WHEN TRUTH WALKS INTO THE ROOM
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:8–9
There are passages in the book of Revelation that appear terrifying when they are viewed only through the eyes of the natural mind. The fourth bowl is certainly one of them. John sees an angel pour out his bowl upon the sun, and power is given unto the sun to scorch men with fire. Men are scorched with great heat, and their response reveals the condition of the realm in which they dwell.
If we approach these words merely as predictions of physical events, we can easily miss the revelation of Jesus Christ contained within them.
The book of Revelation is exactly what its opening words declare it to be:
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Therefore, the question before us is not merely, What happens to the sun?
The greater question is:
What is Jesus Christ revealing through the sun?
To answer that question, we must return to the beginning.
On the fourth creative day, God placed lights in the firmament of heaven. The greater light was appointed to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. From the beginning, therefore, Scripture connects heavenly light with rulership, authority, government, and dominion.
The Bible continues developing this language throughout its pages.
The Lord God is called a Sun and shield.
The righteous ruler is compared to the light of the morning when the sun rises.
Jesus Christ is revealed as the Sun of Righteousness, arising with healing in His wings.
The woman of Revelation chapter 12 appears clothed with the sun.
And when Scripture reaches the New Jerusalem, the city has no need of the natural sun to illuminate it, for the glory of God enlightens it and the Lamb is the Light thereof.
There is therefore a revelation of the sun running from Genesis to Revelation.
But there is something even deeper.
The Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings, yet Revelation chapter 16 presents the sun producing scorching heat.
How can the sun heal in one passage and scorch in another?
The answer opens one of the central revelations of the Fourth Bowl:
ONE SUN — TWO WORLDS
The difference is not necessarily found in the Sun.
The difference is found in the realm upon which the Sun shines.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Truth does not become falsehood. Light does not become darkness. Love does not become hatred. The character and nature of God do not suddenly change when judgment appears.
Yet the appearing of the same Christ produces dramatically different experiences according to the condition of that which His appearing encounters.
To the new creation, He is healing.
To the lie, He is exposure.
To the incorruptible, He is life.
To the corruptible, His appearing is judgment.
To that which is born of God, His light is glory.
To that which belongs to the old Adamic world, that same light becomes unbearable heat because everything hidden is being brought into manifestation.
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
Truth does not have to hate the lie to destroy it.
Truth simply has to be revealed.
Light does not wrestle with darkness. When light appears, darkness loses its hiding place.
This is one of the great mysteries of divine judgment.
God’s judgments are not contrary to His nature. They proceed from His nature. The God who is Love is also Light. The God who is Light is also a consuming Fire. His fire exposes what is false, consumes what is corruptible, purifies what belongs to His purpose, and establishes that which cannot be shaken.
This brings the words of Peter into our study.
Peter speaks of heavens passing away, elements melting with fervent heat, and an old order being dissolved. But Peter does not end his revelation with dissolution. He looks through the fire and sees God’s destination:
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
The heat has a destination.
The fire has a purpose.
Something passes away because something greater is being revealed.
This is the spiritual environment in which we must understand the Fourth Bowl.
The Fourth Angel is not announcing the eternal triumph of fire, suffering, or destruction. The Fourth Angel participates in the revelation and judgment through which an old governmental order is exposed and brought beneath the authority of Jesus Christ.
The old heavens cannot remain forever.
The old lights cannot rule forever.
The old Adamic order cannot govern forever.
The elements of the old world cannot remain forever.
Another government has appeared.
Another Man has appeared.
Another creation has appeared.
The Sun of Righteousness has arisen.
As we follow this revelation from Genesis to Revelation, we will discover that the Fourth Bowl is much larger than a picture of men being scorched by extraordinary heat. It reveals the confrontation between divine Truth and everything constructed upon the lie. It reveals Christ bringing the governing realms of the old creation beneath the searching intensity of His light.
And beyond the heat stands God’s purpose.
Beyond the passing of the old heavens stand new heavens and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness.
Beyond the judgment of corrupted government stands the everlasting government of Jesus Christ.
And beyond every lesser light stands the glorious conclusion of John’s revelation:
The Lamb is the Light.

CHAPTER ONE
THE FOURTH DAY: GOD APPOINTED THE LIGHTS TO RULE
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES MUST BE UNDERSTOOD THROUGH THE LANGUAGE OF SCRIPTURE
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.”
— Revelation 16:8
The fourth angel directs our attention to the sun.
If we are going to understand this fourth manifestation of the seven last plagues, we must first understand the language God has already established throughout Scripture. We cannot begin in Revelation chapter 16, assign a natural meaning to the sun, and then build our interpretation around what we imagine might happen to the physical solar system.
The book of Revelation does not stand disconnected from the rest of the Bible.
Its symbols have roots.
Its images have histories.
Its language has already been introduced, developed, and demonstrated throughout the Scriptures.
Therefore, when the fourth angel pours his bowl upon the sun, we must ask a fundamental question:
What has God already revealed concerning the sun?
That question takes us all the way back to Genesis.
And remarkably, the fourth angel of Revelation chapter 16 directs our attention toward something God established on the fourth day of creation.
Before there was a fourth bowl, there was a fourth day.
Before John saw the angel pour his bowl upon the sun, Moses had already written concerning the creation and purpose of the sun.
And one of the first things God tells us about the heavenly lights is that they were appointed to rule.
That word opens the door to understanding the sun realm.
THE FOURTH DAY REVEALS THE PRINCIPLE OF GOVERNMENT
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.”
— Genesis 1:14–15
God placed the lights in the heavens.
He did not place them there without purpose.
They were appointed to divide, distinguish, mark, illuminate, and govern.
This becomes extremely important when we come to the seven last plagues, because Revelation repeatedly employs the language of heaven, earth, sea, sun, moon, stars, darkness, light, fire, water, rivers, mountains, cities, and kingdoms.
These things are natural realities, but the Holy Spirit uses them to communicate spiritual realities.
The natural creation becomes a vocabulary through which invisible things are made understandable.
The sun above us therefore becomes more than an enormous physical body giving heat and light to the earth. Within the prophetic language of Scripture, the sun provides a picture of light, authority, influence, rulership, and government.
It shines from above.
It gives light beneath.
It occupies the heavens.
The earth responds to its influence.
Already we can begin to see why the fourth angel pours his bowl upon the sun.
The fourth bowl of the seven last plagues is touching something associated with government.
THE GREATER LIGHT WAS APPOINTED TO RULE
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.”
— Genesis 1:16
There is our word:
RULE.
God made the greater light to rule.
This is not something we have imposed upon the symbol. It is contained in the first biblical description of the purpose of the heavenly lights.
The greater light rules the day.
The lesser light rules the night.
The stars occupy their places in the heavens.
From the beginning, therefore, God connects heavenly light with rulership.
This becomes one of our foundational keys for understanding the seven last plagues.
When the fourth bowl is poured upon the sun, we are not merely dealing with heat.
We are dealing with rulership.
We are dealing with authority.
We are dealing with government.
We are dealing with a governing light whose influence reaches the realm beneath it.
This principle appears repeatedly throughout Scripture. Kings, rulers, authorities, powers, and governing orders are represented through heavenly imagery because heaven is the realm from which rule proceeds.
The sun does not ask the earth for permission to shine.
It shines from its appointed position.
The earth receives its influence.
That is the picture.
Heaven governs. Earth responds.
And when God begins dealing with the sun realm in the seven last plagues, He is dealing with the governing influences of an order that cannot remain forever.
GOD SET THE LIGHTS IN THE HEAVENS TO GOVERN THE EARTH
“And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.”
— Genesis 1:17–18
Notice the order.
The lights are placed in heaven.
Their light falls upon the earth.
From their heavenly position they rule.
That pattern becomes tremendously important throughout the prophetic Scriptures.
Heaven represents more than geographical altitude. In spiritual symbolism, heaven speaks of a higher realm of government, authority, dominion, consciousness, and rule.
Earth represents the realm acted upon by that government.
This does not mean that every occurrence of the words heaven, earth, or sun carries exactly the same symbolic meaning. Context must always govern interpretation.
But Genesis gives us a foundational principle:
The heavenly lights rule.
That means when we arrive at Revelation 16 and find the fourth bowl of the seven last plagues being poured upon the sun, the Holy Spirit is drawing our attention to the realm of governing light.
Something about an old rulership is being brought under divine judgment.
Something that has exercised influence is being exposed.
Something that has governed the thoughts, ways, desires, actions, and understanding of men is being brought beneath the fiery revelation of Jesus Christ.
THE LORD GOD HIMSELF IS CALLED A SUN
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
— Psalm 84:11
Now the revelation grows.
Scripture does not reserve the imagery of the sun for corrupt rulers or fallen governments.
God Himself is called a Sun.
That means we must be careful.
We cannot teach that the sun automatically represents evil.
It does not.
The symbol speaks primarily of light and government, and the context reveals the nature of the government being manifested.
The Lord God is a Sun because He is the ultimate source of divine light, truth, life, authority, and government.
Everything righteous originates in Him.
Every true light proceeds from Him.
Every legitimate authority finds its source in Him.
Every righteous government ultimately expresses His nature.
This is important because the seven last plagues do not reveal a battle between two equal gods, two eternal powers, or two independent kingdoms struggling to determine who will finally win.
God has no equal.
Jesus Christ has no eternal rival.
The lie has no independent source of life.
Darkness possesses no power capable of overcoming Light.
The entire creation exists within the purpose of God.
Therefore, when the Fourth Bowl deals with the sun realm, God is not fighting desperately to regain control of something He has lost.
He is revealing His government by judging and removing that which cannot remain within His righteous order.
THE RIGHTEOUS RULER IS LIKE THE RISING SUN
“He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds.”
— 2 Samuel 23:3–4
Here again Scripture joins rulership and the sun.
The one who rules justly is compared to the light of the morning when the sun rises.
Why?
Because government exerts influence.
A ruler affects the realm over which he rules.
Good government brings order.
Righteous government produces peace.
True light gives direction.
But corrupt government produces bondage, confusion, oppression, darkness, and death.
This is why understanding the sun realm becomes so important to our study of the seven last plagues.
God is not merely interested in changing individual behavior while leaving the source of corrupt government untouched.
He deals with the root.
He deals with the source.
He deals with the principle that rules.
He deals with the realm from which influence proceeds.
The Fourth Bowl reaches into the realm of government itself.
THE SUN REALM EXISTS WITHIN MAN
“Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
— Luke 17:21
The revelation must become personal.
It is easy to read about rulers, governments, kingdoms, beasts, heavens, suns, and authorities and immediately look outside ourselves.
But the kingdom of God has an inward reality.
Therefore, the principles of government revealed throughout Scripture must also be understood within the constitution of man.
Something rules our thoughts.
Something governs our desires.
Something directs our decisions.
Something supplies the light by which we interpret God, ourselves, other people, and the world around us.
The question is not whether man lives beneath government.
The question is:
What is governing him?
The natural mind can govern.
Fear can govern.
Tradition can govern.
Religious mixture can govern.
The desires of the flesh can govern.
The wisdom of this world can govern.
Or the Spirit of God can govern.
The mind of Christ can govern.
Truth can govern.
Righteousness can govern.
Life can govern.
Jesus Christ can govern.
This is where the seven last plagues become more than prophetic events happening somewhere outside of us.
They reveal the mighty dealings of God through which every realm of the old Adamic creation is exposed, judged, purified, and ultimately brought under the government of Jesus Christ.
The Fourth Bowl reaches the sun realm—the governing realm.
TWO MEN PRODUCE TWO ORDERS OF GOVERNMENT
“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:47
Here we encounter the great biblical distinction that helps us understand the two worlds.
There is the first man.
There is the second Man.
There is Adam.
There is Christ.
The first man is of the earth, earthy.
The second Man is the Lord from heaven.
Each man represents an order.
Each man represents a world.
Each man manifests a nature.
Each man produces fruit according to his source.
The Adamic world possesses its own wisdom, reasoning, desires, ambitions, structures, authorities, and governing principles.
The new creation possesses another government entirely.
The government of the new creation proceeds from Jesus Christ.
This is why the judgment revealed in the seven last plagues is necessary.
Two orders cannot rule forever.
Two minds cannot occupy the throne forever.
Two governments cannot eternally determine the direction of creation.
The purpose of God is moving toward the day when everything is brought beneath the headship and government of Jesus Christ.
The old must decrease.
Christ must increase.
The corruptible must give way to the incorruptible.
The earthly must yield to the heavenly.
The government of Adam must surrender to the government of Christ.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ARISES WITH HEALING
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.”
— Malachi 4:2
Now we encounter something beautiful.
The Sun arises.
But He does not arise merely to scorch.
He arises with healing.
This passage keeps our interpretation of the seven last plagues centered in the nature and purpose of Jesus Christ.
The ultimate Sun is not the corruptible government of Adam.
The ultimate Sun is Christ.
He is the Sun of Righteousness.
He arises with healing.
He brings light.
He brings life.
He brings truth.
He brings righteousness.
He brings divine order.
He brings the government of God.
Yet here we encounter the mystery that will become central to this book.
Revelation 16 speaks of a sun associated with scorching.
Malachi speaks of the Sun of Righteousness associated with healing.
Is Scripture contradicting itself?
Absolutely not.
We are approaching a greater revelation.
ONE SUN CAN AFFECT TWO WORLDS DIFFERENTLY
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light…”
— John 3:19
The problem was not the Light.
The Light came into the world.
But the condition of the world determined how that Light was experienced.
This is one of the keys to understanding the seven last plagues.
The same revelation of Jesus Christ that becomes healing to the new creation becomes exposure to the old creation.
The same Truth that liberates the new man destroys the refuge of the lie.
The same Light that illuminates the sons of God uncovers everything hidden in darkness.
The same Fire that reveals the nature of God consumes the wood, hay, and stubble of the old order.
One Sun. Two worlds. Two experiences.
The Sun does not have to change.
The condition of the world upon which He shines determines the experience.
To the new creation, His appearing is glory.
To the old creation, His appearing is exposure.
To Truth, the Light is home.
To the lie, the Light is judgment.
And that gives us a simple way to express one of the deepest truths contained in the Fourth Bowl:
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
Truth does not have to become angry with the lie.
Truth simply reveals itself.
And when Truth stands fully revealed, the lie has nowhere left to hide.
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES ARE MOVING CREATION TOWARD CHRIST’S GOVERNMENT
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
There is the destination.
HE MUST REIGN.
The seven last plagues must be understood within that divine purpose.
Jesus Christ is reigning until every opposing authority, principle, power, enemy, and realm is brought beneath His feet.
The bowls are not random acts of divine frustration.
They are not meaningless explosions of wrath.
They belong to the revelation of a King whose government cannot fail.
The First Bowl deals with one realm.
The Second Bowl reaches another.
The Third Bowl reaches the rivers and fountains—the sources from which men drink.
And now the Fourth Bowl rises into the sun realm.
Government itself is being touched.
The ruling lights of the old creation are being brought under judgment.
The authorities of the Adamic world are being exposed beneath a greater Light.
Why?
Because He must reign.
Not merely in heaven.
Not merely in doctrine.
Not merely in some distant age.
His government progressively reaches every realm until all things are brought into divine order beneath Him.
THE FOURTH DAY POINTS US TOWARD THE FOURTH BOWL
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day…”
— Genesis 1:16
We began in Genesis because Genesis gives us the language we need to understand Revelation.
On the fourth day, God reveals the principle:
The greater light rules.
In the Fourth Bowl, God touches the sun.
That connection prepares us for everything that follows in our study of the seven last plagues.
We are going to follow the sun through Scripture.
We will see God called a Sun.
We will see righteous rulers compared with the rising sun.
We will behold the Sun of Righteousness arising with healing.
We will see the woman clothed with the sun.
We will watch the elements of the old world melt with fervent heat.
We will witness the old heavens passing away.
We will behold new heavens and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness.
And finally, we will stand with John before a city that has no need of the sun or moon to shine in it because:
“The glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
That is where the seven last plagues are taking us.
Not toward everlasting darkness.
Toward Light.
Not toward everlasting corruption.
Toward righteousness.
Not toward the eternal government of Adam.
Toward the government of Jesus Christ.
Not toward the victory of death.
Toward the reign of Life.
The Fourth Angel pours his bowl upon the sun because God is dealing with the realm of government.
And before this book is finished, we will see that the same Sun whose appearing exposes and scorches everything belonging to the lie is the Sun of Righteousness who arises with healing in His wings.
One Sun.
Two worlds.
One everlasting purpose.
And one Lord Jesus Christ who must reign until every enemy is beneath His feet.
CHAPTER TWO
THE LORD GOD IS A SUN
BEFORE WE UNDERSTAND THE SUN REALM, WE MUST UNDERSTAND THE TRUE SUN
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
— Psalm 84:11
Before we go any further into the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues, we must establish something that will govern everything we teach concerning the sun realm.
God Himself is called a Sun.
That single statement prevents us from making the mistake of assuming that every appearance of the sun in prophetic language represents something evil.
The sun is first a picture.
It speaks of light.
It speaks of glory.
It speaks of influence.
It speaks of authority.
It speaks of government.
It speaks of that which occupies a heavenly position and sheds its influence upon the realm beneath it.
The question, therefore, is never merely:
What does the sun symbolize?
The greater question is:
Whose light is shining? Whose government is ruling? What order is being manifested?
Psalm 84 does not present God as a dark and distant ruler. It declares:
“The LORD God is a sun.”
Then immediately the Psalmist connects that Sun with grace and glory.
This is tremendously important to our understanding of the seven last plagues.
Whatever interpretation we place upon God’s judgments must ultimately be reconciled with the God who gives grace and glory.
The judgments do not reveal another God.
The bowls do not reveal another nature.
The fire does not reveal another Father.
The plagues do not reveal another Jesus Christ.
The Lord God is still a Sun.
And the Sun is still shining.
GOD IS LIGHT
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
— 1 John 1:5
John does not merely say that God has light.
He says:
GOD IS LIGHT.
This brings us closer to the heart of the seven last plagues.
If God is Light, then His appearing necessarily exposes darkness.
If God is Truth, then His appearing necessarily exposes the lie.
If God is Life, then His appearing necessarily exposes death.
If God is righteousness, then His appearing necessarily exposes everything that has been established upon unrighteousness.
God does not have to temporarily become darkness in order to judge darkness.
He judges darkness by being Light.
He does not have to become a lie in order to judge falsehood.
He judges the lie by revealing Truth.
He does not have to become death in order to overcome death.
He overcomes death by manifesting Life.
This changes the way we understand judgment.
Judgment is not God abandoning His nature.
Judgment is God revealing His nature in the presence of everything contrary to it.
And because He is Light, nothing hidden can remain hidden forever.
LIGHT REVEALS WHAT DARKNESS HIDES
“But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.”
— Ephesians 5:13
There is the operation of divine Light:
IT MAKES MANIFEST.
That is judgment.
Something hidden becomes visible.
Something concealed becomes exposed.
Something mixed becomes separated.
Something falsely identified becomes properly identified.
The lie loses its covering.
This is precisely why the seven last plagues must be understood as part of the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is God’s Light entering every realm of creation and making manifest what has been hidden there.
When the Light enters the sea realm, things become visible.
When the Light enters the rivers and fountains, the sources are revealed.
When the Light reaches the sun realm, the governing powers are exposed.
Nothing remains concealed beneath the brightness of His appearing.
This is not because God hates His creation.
It is because God intends to deliver His creation from the lie.
You cannot deliver a man from something that remains hidden.
It must first be revealed.
It must be brought into the Light.
It must be identified for what it is.
Then the separation can take place.
That is why revelation and judgment are inseparable.
The Light reveals so that the Light may deliver.
THE SUN SHINES FROM A HIGHER REALM
“The heavens do rule.”
— Daniel 4:26
What a tremendous statement.
The heavens do rule.
This takes us directly back to Genesis.
God placed the sun, moon, and stars in the heavens and appointed them to rule.
Now Daniel declares the spiritual principle:
The heavens do rule.
Heaven represents the realm from which government proceeds.
Earth represents the realm upon which that government operates.
The sun therefore becomes a powerful biblical picture of governing authority because it occupies the heavens while its light reaches the earth.
This helps us understand why the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is poured upon the sun.
God is dealing with government.
He is dealing with authority.
He is dealing with influence.
He is dealing with that which has occupied a position of rulership over the minds, hearts, actions, and lives of men.
But we must never forget that above every lesser government stands the government of God.
Above every lesser sun stands the Lord who is a Sun.
Above every earthly throne stands the heavenly throne.
Above every temporary authority stands the One whose kingdom cannot be destroyed.
The heavens do rule.
THERE IS NO AUTHORITY OUTSIDE THE PURPOSE OF GOD
“For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”
— Romans 13:1
This does not mean that everything rulers do expresses the character of God.
Scripture plainly reveals corrupt rulers, oppressive kingdoms, beastly governments, and authorities that resist the purposes of God.
But none of them becomes an eternal rival to God.
None possesses independent sovereignty.
None can overthrow His purpose.
None can escape the boundaries of His ultimate government.
This matters enormously when we study the seven last plagues.
We are not watching God desperately attempting to regain control of His universe.
We are watching God bring creation through His ordained dealings until every false authority is exposed and every opposing rule is brought beneath the feet of Jesus Christ.
The old government exists for a season.
The old heavens remain for a season.
The Adamic order exercises its influence for a season.
But no temporary government possesses an everlasting throne.
Only Christ does.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
— John 8:12
Now the Sun becomes personal.
Light is not merely a doctrine.
Light is not merely information.
Light is not merely correct interpretation.
Light is revealed in a Person.
Jesus said:
“I am the light of the world.”
This is where every study of the seven last plagues must remain centered.
The bowls reveal Jesus Christ.
The judgments reveal Jesus Christ.
The fire reveals Jesus Christ.
The exposure reveals Jesus Christ.
The separation reveals Jesus Christ.
And the final victory reveals Jesus Christ.
He is the Light that enters the darkness of the Adamic world.
He is the Truth that enters the realm of the lie.
He is the Life that enters the realm of death.
He is the incorruptible One entering the corruptible world.
And His appearing changes everything.
THE TRUE LIGHT LIGHTS EVERY MAN
“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
— John 1:9
John calls Jesus Christ:
THE TRUE LIGHT.
If there is a true Light, there can also be lights that are temporary, partial, reflected, corrupted, or falsely exalted.
Men have followed many lights.
Religious lights.
Political lights.
Intellectual lights.
Cultural lights.
Institutional lights.
The light of human wisdom.
The light of tradition.
The light of the natural mind.
But there is only one True Light.
And the purpose of God is not complete until the True Light has reached every man.
That gives the seven last plagues a redemptive horizon.
The Light is moving into every realm.
The bowls progressively touch the earth, the sea, the rivers and fountains, the sun, the throne of the beast, the Euphrates, and finally the air.
Nothing is left untouched.
Why?
Because God’s purpose is comprehensive.
Jesus Christ does not intend to remain Light to one small corner of creation while darkness possesses everything else forever.
The True Light lights every man.
THE LIGHT OF CHRIST EXPOSES FALSE GOVERNMENT
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
— John 3:20
Here we begin to understand why Light can feel like heat.
The problem is not the Light.
The problem is what the Light encounters.
A lie can survive only while it remains hidden.
False authority can maintain itself only while its true nature remains concealed.
Religious mixture can continue only while men cannot distinguish Truth from error.
The natural mind can occupy the throne only while the mind of Christ remains veiled.
But when the Light appears, everything changes.
The seven last plagues reveal the increasing intensity of that manifestation.
The Light is getting into everything.
The hidden things are being uncovered.
The old order is losing its covering.
And when Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
The lie experiences Truth as judgment because Truth removes the environment in which the lie survives.
GOD’S FIRE AND GOD’S LIGHT PROCEED FROM THE SAME NATURE
“For our God is a consuming fire.”
— Hebrews 12:29
God is Light.
God is also a consuming Fire.
These are not two different Gods.
Neither are they two contradictory personalities within God.
His Light and His Fire proceed from the same divine nature.
Light reveals.
Fire consumes.
Light exposes.
Fire purifies.
Light makes manifest.
Fire tests what has been manifested.
Therefore, when the seven last plagues speak in the language of scorching heat and fire, we must interpret that imagery through the nature of God.
The fire is not outside of God.
The fire is not contrary to Love.
The fire belongs to the God who is Love.
And divine Love is determined to remove everything that holds creation in corruption, bondage, darkness, and death.
Love exposes the lie because the lie enslaves.
Love judges corruption because corruption destroys.
Love consumes death because death is an enemy.
Love removes false government because false government keeps men beneath a dominion God never intended to remain forever.
The consuming Fire serves the everlasting purpose of Love.
THE FIRE TESTS EVERY MAN’S WORK
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:13
Notice Paul’s language:
“Made manifest.”
Again we find revelation.
The fire reveals.
It does not randomly destroy without distinction.
It tests.
It manifests.
It distinguishes.
Paul continues by describing works that remain and works that are burned.
Yet even where a man’s work is burned, Paul says:
“he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
What a revelation of divine judgment!
The fire can destroy the work without destroying God’s purpose for the man.
The fire can consume what is false while salvation remains God’s destination.
That is a tremendously important principle for understanding the seven last plagues.
God knows the difference between the man and the lie governing the man.
He knows the difference between His creation and the corruption operating within it.
He knows the difference between the vessel and what has filled the vessel.
He knows what must remain.
And He knows what must burn.
THE SAME PRESENCE CAN BE LIGHT TO ONE AND DARKNESS TO ANOTHER
“And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these.”
— Exodus 14:20
Here is our principle again.
One presence. Two experiences.
The same divine presence stood between Egypt and Israel.
To one side there was darkness.
To the other there was light.
God did not need two pillars.
He did not need one God for Egypt and another God for Israel.
The distinction was produced by the relationship of the two realms to the same divine presence.
This is a beautiful Old Testament witness to what we are discovering concerning the seven last plagues.
The same Christ can be experienced as salvation and judgment.
The same Truth can liberate one realm and expose another.
The same Light can produce glory in the new creation and unbearable revelation in the old.
The same Sun can heal and scorch.
One Sun. Two worlds.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS DOES NOT CHANGE
“For I am the LORD, I change not…”
— Malachi 3:6
God does not change His character when judgment begins.
Jesus Christ does not cease being Savior when the bowls are poured out.
The Father does not stop being Love when fire appears.
The Sun of Righteousness does not become the sun of unrighteousness simply because the old world experiences His appearing as heat.
This truth must remain at the center of our understanding of the seven last plagues.
**The Sun does not change.
The realm being exposed changes.
The world being judged changes.
The government being removed changes.
But Jesus Christ remains the same.**
That is why Malachi can move directly from fiery judgment into the arising of the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings.
The same divine appearing that brings the old order to its end brings healing and liberty to those arising in the new.
EVERY FALSE LIGHT MUST GIVE WAY TO THE TRUE LIGHT
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
— John 3:30
Those words contain the principle of transition.
He must increase.
Everything else must decrease.
That is true individually.
It is true corporately.
It is true governmentally.
It is true universally.
Adam decreases.
Christ increases.
The natural mind decreases.
The mind of Christ increases.
Darkness decreases.
Light increases.
Corruption decreases.
Incorruption increases.
Death decreases.
Life increases.
The old heavens decrease.
The new heavens increase.
False government decreases.
The government of Jesus Christ increases.
This is the movement hidden within the seven last plagues.
The bowls are revealing the collapse of everything incapable of remaining beneath the unveiled government of Jesus Christ.
THE GOVERNMENT SHALL BE UPON HIS SHOULDER
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder…”
— Isaiah 9:6
There is the true government.
Not Adam.
Not Babylon.
Not the beast.
Not the natural mind.
Not religious tradition.
Not the kingdoms of men.
THE GOVERNMENT SHALL BE UPON HIS SHOULDER.
And Isaiah continues:
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7
That is where the seven last plagues are taking creation.
His government increases.
His peace increases.
His kingdom increases.
His Light increases.
The old governing order cannot remain forever because His government has no end.
When the Fourth Angel pours his bowl upon the sun, we are witnessing another stage in that great transition.
A governing realm is being touched.
A ruling light is being judged.
An old authority is being exposed.
But above everything stands the true Sun.
THE LORD GOD IS A SUN
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory…”
— Psalm 84:11
We end where we began.
The Lord God is a Sun.
And look again at what proceeds from Him:
Grace.
Glory.
That must govern our understanding of the Fourth Bowl.
The ultimate purpose of the seven last plagues is not to establish an everlasting kingdom of heat.
It is not to establish an everlasting kingdom of pain.
It is not to establish an everlasting kingdom of wrath.
It is to expose and remove everything that opposes the righteous government of Jesus Christ.
The Sun is shining.
The Light is revealing.
The Fire is purifying.
The lie is losing its hiding place.
The old government is losing its throne.
And the kingdom of Jesus Christ is increasing.
Soon we will look directly at one of the most beautiful declarations concerning this Sun:
“The Sun of righteousness [shall] arise with healing in his wings.”
There we will discover even more clearly how the seven last plagues can contain scorching heat while the very same divine Sun carries healing.
The answer is not found in two competing suns.
It is found in one Sun shining upon two worlds.
And when the True Light shines in its fullness, every false light must eventually disappear before the glory of Jesus Christ.
CHAPTER THREE
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ARISES
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES MUST REVEAL THE SAME JESUS CHRIST
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
What a magnificent picture of Jesus Christ.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ARISES.
He does not arise with unrighteousness.
He does not arise with darkness.
He does not arise having abandoned the nature of His Father.
He arises as the Sun of Righteousness.
And Malachi declares that there is healing in His wings.
This passage gives us one of the most important keys for understanding the seven last plagues. Whatever we see taking place in Revelation chapter 16 must ultimately be reconciled with the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The fourth angel pours his bowl upon the sun.
Men are scorched with great heat.
But Malachi tells us that the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing.
Are these two completely different revelations?
Or are we being shown what happens when the same divine appearing encounters two different conditions?
The answer becomes clearer when we read Malachi’s prophecy in its context.
Remarkably, Malachi places burning and healing side by side.
THE SAME DAY THAT BURNS ALSO BRINGS HEALING
“For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble…”
— Malachi 4:1
Before Malachi speaks about healing, he speaks about burning.
That is important.
The prophet does not separate these realities by hundreds of chapters.
He places them next to each other.
First:
“The day cometh, that shall burn as an oven.”
Then:
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.”
Burning.
Then healing.
Fire.
Then restoration.
Judgment.
Then deliverance.
And all of it belongs to the appearing of the same divine Day.
This gives us a powerful pattern for understanding the seven last plagues.
The presence of fire does not mean that God’s redemptive purpose has disappeared.
The presence of heat does not mean that Love has ceased.
The presence of judgment does not mean that Jesus Christ has changed.
The Day that burns is also the Day in which the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing.
One appearing can produce two experiences.
THE FIRE REVEALS THE NATURE OF WHAT IT TOUCHES
“And all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble…”
— Malachi 4:1
Notice what the fire encounters.
Stubble.
The nature of the material matters.
Fire does not produce the stubble.
Fire reveals what the stubble is capable of enduring.
This principle appears throughout Scripture.
Gold encounters fire and is refined.
Wood, hay, and stubble encounter fire and are consumed.
The fire is the same.
The material is different.
This is tremendously important for understanding the seven last plagues.
We have often imagined judgment as though God’s primary action is against people.
But Scripture continually directs our attention deeper—to the works, nature, corruption, lies, false governments, false identities, and Adamic structures operating within the creation.
God knows the difference between His creation and the corruption from which His creation must be delivered.
The divine fire exposes that difference.
It reveals what belongs to Christ.
It reveals what belongs to Adam.
It reveals what can remain.
It reveals what must pass away.
ONE SUN — TWO WORLDS
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
Here we arrive at the heart of the revelation.
ONE SUN — TWO WORLDS.
The same Sun that arises in the Day that burns as an oven also arises with healing in His wings.
The Sun has not changed.
The condition of that upon which He shines is different.
This is the distinction between the two men.
The first man is Adam.
The second Man is Christ.
The first is earthy.
The second is heavenly.
The first is corruptible.
The second is incorruptible.
The first belongs to an old world.
The second is the beginning and Head of a new creation.
When the Sun of Righteousness arises, these two worlds do not experience His appearing in precisely the same manner.
To the new creation, His appearing is healing.
To the old creation, His appearing becomes exposure.
To the incorruptible seed, the Light is glory.
To the corruptible order, the Light reveals everything that cannot remain.
This is one of the great mysteries contained within the seven last plagues.
The Sun is not the problem.
The condition of the world upon which He shines determines the experience.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME IN HEALING AND JUDGMENT
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
— Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ does not possess one character when He saves and another character when He judges.
He is the same Jesus Christ.
Yesterday.
Today.
Forever.
This means our understanding of the seven last plagues cannot require Jesus Christ to become something contrary to what the Father has revealed Him to be.
When He heals, He is Christ.
When He exposes, He is Christ.
When He delivers, He is Christ.
When He judges, He is Christ.
When He purifies, He is Christ.
When His fire consumes corruption, He is Christ.
The purpose remains rooted in the same divine nature.
This is why judgment can never be properly understood apart from Jesus Christ.
He is not merely present at the end of the process.
He is the revelation within the process.
LIGHT DOES NOT HAVE TO FIGHT DARKNESS
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
— John 1:5
There is something beautifully simple about light.
Light does not have to negotiate with darkness.
Light does not have to debate darkness.
Light does not have to become darkness in order to defeat darkness.
Light shines.
And when light shines, darkness loses the environment in which it existed.
This is what Jesus Christ does.
He appears.
He reveals.
He shines.
And His appearing exposes everything that belongs to darkness.
This is why the seven last plagues can be understood as manifestations of divine Light entering realms that have been governed by darkness and mixture.
The judgment is contained in the appearing.
Truth arrives.
The lie is exposed.
Light arrives.
Darkness is uncovered.
Christ appears.
Adam can no longer hide.
WHEN TRUTH WALKS INTO THE ROOM
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
— John 3:20
Here is the principle in plain language:
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
The lie does not suffer because Truth has become hateful.
The lie suffers because its existence depends upon concealment.
Falsehood needs darkness.
Mixture needs confusion.
Deception needs ignorance.
False government needs people who cannot see clearly.
But Jesus Christ is Truth.
When Truth enters the room, the lie loses its covering.
That is judgment.
And this gives us a different way to understand the scorching heat of the seven last plagues.
What if the intensity of the heat reveals the intensity of divine Truth confronting a world built upon falsehood?
What if the problem is not that the Sun has become evil?
What if the problem is that the lie can no longer tolerate the brightness of the Sun?
THE WORD OF GOD ENTERS THE HIDDEN PLACES
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
— Hebrews 4:12
God’s judgment goes deeper than outward behavior.
The Word enters the hidden places.
It divides.
It discerns.
It reveals thoughts.
It exposes intentions.
It distinguishes between things that previously appeared inseparable.
This is the work of divine Light.
And the seven last plagues progressively reveal this penetrating work of God.
The bowls reach deeper and deeper into the realms of the old creation.
Nothing remains untouched.
The earth.
The sea.
The rivers and fountains.
The sun.
The throne.
The great river.
The air.
Every realm comes beneath divine examination.
The Word enters.
The Light shines.
The Truth reveals.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS BRINGS EVERYTHING INTO THE LIGHT
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
— Hebrews 4:13
ALL THINGS ARE NAKED AND OPENED.
That is the ultimate consequence of divine Light.
Nothing can remain permanently concealed.
No lie can hide forever.
No false identity can hide forever.
No corrupt government can hide forever.
No religious mixture can hide forever.
No work of Adam can hide forever.
No darkness can preserve itself forever against the appearing of Jesus Christ.
That is why the seven last plagues are inevitable within the purpose of God.
If God intends to become all in all, then everything contrary to His nature must eventually be brought into the Light.
And once it is revealed, it must be dealt with.
THE SAME FIRE THAT CONSUMES STUBBLE PURIFIES GOLD
“But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire…”
— Malachi 3:2
Notice again the language:
“When he appeareth.”
The fire is connected with His appearing.
Malachi does not merely describe destruction.
He describes a refiner’s fire.
A refiner does not place gold into the furnace because he hates the gold.
He places it there because he values the gold.
The purpose of the heat is to separate what belongs from what does not belong.
The fire removes impurity.
The gold remains.
This is one of the clearest pictures we can carry into our understanding of the seven last plagues.
The judgment of God is not evidence that He has abandoned His creation.
It is evidence that He refuses to abandon His creation to corruption.
He will not leave the gold forever mixed with the impurity.
He will not leave Truth forever mixed with the lie.
He will not leave Christ forever mixed with Adam.
He will not leave life forever mixed with death.
The Refiner sits over the process until His purpose is accomplished.
HE SHALL PURIFY
“And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi…”
— Malachi 3:3
There is the purpose.
HE SHALL PURIFY.
The fire has an objective.
The heat has an objective.
Judgment has an objective.
Purification.
This language belongs directly in our study of the seven last plagues because it keeps us from stopping at the pain of the process.
If we stop at the heat, we miss the Refiner.
If we stop at the fire, we miss the purification.
If we stop at the judgment, we miss the purpose.
If we stop at the plague, we miss Jesus Christ.
The Refiner knows exactly what He is doing.
He knows how long the process requires.
He knows what must be removed.
And He knows what He intends to reveal when the work is finished.
OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE
“For our God is a consuming fire.”
— Hebrews 12:29
God does not merely send fire.
God is a consuming Fire.
That means His fire must be interpreted through His character.
And what is His character?
God is Love.
God is Light.
God is Spirit.
God is Life.
God is Truth.
The consuming Fire cannot contradict the Love.
The Light cannot contradict the Life.
The judgment cannot contradict the eternal purpose.
These are not competing attributes struggling against each other within God.
They are the harmonious revelation of who He is.
His Love burns against everything destroying His creation.
His Light exposes everything hiding within darkness.
His Truth consumes the lie.
His Life swallows up death.
This is the God revealed within the seven last plagues.
THE SUN SHINES UPON BOTH REALMS
“That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good…”
— Matthew 5:45
The sun rises upon both.
The difference is not that one world receives a sun while the other receives nothing.
The same light reaches both.
This natural picture helps us understand the spiritual reality.
The Sun of Righteousness shines.
His Truth reaches creation.
His revelation enters every realm.
His government extends toward everything.
But the condition of each realm determines what His appearing uncovers.
Where there is Truth, Light confirms Truth.
Where there is deception, Light exposes deception.
Where there is life, Light reveals life.
Where there is death, Light exposes death.
Where there is righteousness, Light manifests righteousness.
Where there is corruption, Light brings corruption into judgment.
One Sun. Two worlds.
THE OLD WORLD EXPERIENCES THE LIGHT AS JUDGMENT
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world…”
— John 3:19
Look carefully at John’s words.
He does not say:
“This is the condemnation, that darkness came.”
He says:
“Light is come.”
That is extraordinary.
The judgment occurs because Light has arrived.
The coming of Light reveals the condition of the world.
This is exactly the tone we need when interpreting the seven last plagues.
The Fourth Bowl does not require us to imagine God manufacturing evil in order to torment mankind.
Light itself becomes judgment to a realm dependent upon darkness.
Truth itself becomes judgment to a realm built upon the lie.
Christ Himself becomes judgment to an order founded in Adam.
The Sun arises.
And suddenly everything is visible.
THE NEW CREATION EXPERIENCES THE LIGHT AS HEALING
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
Now look at the other world.
The same arising produces healing.
The Sun does not merely expose.
He restores.
He does not merely reveal disease.
He heals.
He does not merely expose bondage.
He liberates.
He does not merely reveal darkness.
He fills the creation with Light.
The purpose of the seven last plagues therefore cannot be understood merely by examining what is passing away.
We must also behold what is arising.
An old order is passing.
A new order is appearing.
An old man is being exposed.
A new Man is being manifested.
An old government is being judged.
The government of Jesus Christ is increasing.
An old world experiences the Sun as heat.
The new creation experiences the same Sun as healing.
THE HEAT HAS A DESTINATION
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
Peter looked beyond the fervent heat.
He saw something on the other side.
NEW HEAVENS.
A NEW EARTH.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
That is the destination.
The old elements do not melt merely so God can celebrate their destruction.
The old heavens do not pass away without purpose.
The fire is accomplishing a transition.
This is why the seven last plagues must always be interpreted within the eternal purpose of God.
The heat serves the transition.
The judgment serves the purpose.
The exposure serves the deliverance.
The passing away of the old prepares the manifestation of the new.
And what characterizes the new world?
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
No wonder the One arising over that world is called:
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS ARISING OVER A NEW CREATION
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
There are the two worlds again.
Old things.
New things.
Passing away.
Becoming new.
Adam.
Christ.
Corruption.
Incorruption.
Darkness.
Light.
Death.
Life.
This transition is already working within God’s people, and ultimately the purpose reaches creation itself.
The revelation contained in the seven last plagues belongs to this movement from old to new.
God is not preserving the Adamic order forever.
He is bringing forth a new creation in Jesus Christ.
And over that new creation rises the Sun of Righteousness.
THE GOVERNMENT OF CHRIST IS A GOVERNMENT OF LIGHT
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7
Notice what increases:
His government.
And notice what accompanies it:
Peace.
The government of Jesus Christ is not merely replacing one tyranny with another.
It is an entirely different order.
It proceeds from another Man.
Another nature.
Another Spirit.
Another wisdom.
Another source.
This is why the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues must eventually bring the sun realm under the government of Jesus Christ.
Every governing light must be measured against the True Light.
Every throne must be measured against His throne.
Every authority must be brought beneath His authority.
Every government must eventually yield to His government.
For:
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.”
THE SUN THAT SCORCHES IS THE SUN THAT HEALS
“And power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.”
— Revelation 16:8
Now we can begin approaching Revelation 16 with different eyes.
We have seen Malachi’s burning oven.
We have seen his refining fire.
We have seen purification.
We have seen the Sun of Righteousness.
We have seen healing.
We have seen Light exposing darkness.
We have seen Truth revealing the lie.
We have seen the old world passing away.
And we have seen new heavens and a new earth wherein dwells righteousness.
Therefore, when the seven last plagues bring us to the Fourth Angel and the scorching sun, we do not need to invent another God.
We do not need another Christ.
We do not need another Sun.
We need to understand the two worlds encountering the revelation of the same divine Light.
The Sun that scorches is the Sun that heals.
The difference is found in what His appearing encounters.
The lie calls Truth torment because Truth ends its hiding place.
Darkness experiences Light as judgment because Light ends darkness.
Corruption experiences incorruption as judgment because corruption cannot inherit incorruption.
Death experiences Life as an enemy because Life has come to swallow death up in victory.
But the Sun remains righteous.
The Sun remains Light.
The Sun remains Truth.
The Sun remains Love.
And the Sun arises with healing in His wings.
This is the revelation we must carry forward as we continue our journey through the seven last plagues.
The Fourth Angel is not introducing us to a different Jesus.
He is revealing what happens when the unveiled government, Truth, Light, and righteousness of Jesus Christ shine with such intensity that the old world can no longer remain what it was.
One Sun.
Two worlds.
Fire to the stubble.
Purification to the gold.
Exposure to the lie.
Healing to the new creation.
And through it all, the glorious Sun of Righteousness is arising.
CHAPTER FOUR
ONE SUN — TWO WORLDS
TWO MEN STAND AT THE CENTER OF THE BIBLICAL STORY
“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:47
There are many nations in the earth.
There are many cultures.
There are many religions.
There are many denominations.
There are many philosophies.
There are billions of individual people.
Yet when the apostle Paul opens the mystery of God’s purpose, he continually brings us back to two men.
The first man is Adam.
The second Man is Jesus Christ.
The first man is of the earth, earthy.
The second Man is the Lord from heaven.
This distinction becomes essential to our understanding of the seven last plagues, because the judgments of God cannot be properly understood until we understand what God is judging and what God is establishing.
God is not confused about the two men.
He knows what belongs to Adam.
He knows what belongs to Christ.
He knows what proceeds from the corruptible seed.
He knows what proceeds from the incorruptible seed.
He knows the old creation.
He knows the new creation.
And through the revelation of Jesus Christ, He brings the distinction into the Light.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reveals what happens when the Sun shines with divine intensity upon the governing realm of the old world.
The Sun has not changed.
But there are two worlds standing beneath His appearing.
AS IS THE EARTHY, SUCH ARE THEY ALSO THAT ARE EARTHY
“As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:48
Paul gives us two orders.
THE EARTHY.
THE HEAVENLY.
These are more than geographical locations.
They speak of two sources, two natures, two identities, two states of being, and two orders of government.
Adam is earthy.
Christ is heavenly.
Adam sees from beneath.
Christ reveals from above.
Adam is governed by the natural mind.
Christ manifests the mind of the Spirit.
Adam belongs to corruption.
Christ belongs to incorruption.
Adam is mortal.
Christ is Life.
The judgments revealed in the seven last plagues progressively expose everything belonging to the earthy order.
The earth is touched.
The sea is touched.
The rivers and fountains are touched.
The sun is touched.
The throne of the beast is touched.
Nothing belonging to the old government can remain permanently hidden.
Why?
Because another Man has appeared.
The Lord from heaven has come.
THE FIRST MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul…”
— 1 Corinthians 15:45
Adam is a living soul.
There is nothing mysterious about Paul’s language.
He is identifying the order of the first man.
The Adamic man lives from the soulical, natural, earthly realm.
His understanding is limited by what belongs to that order.
His wisdom is earthly.
His reasoning is earthly.
His desires are earthly.
His government is earthly.
Even when Adam becomes religious, he remains incapable of producing the spiritual reality of Christ from his own nature.
Religion cannot transform Adam into Christ.
Rules cannot transform Adam into Christ.
Ceremonies cannot transform Adam into Christ.
Education cannot transform Adam into Christ.
Improved behavior cannot transform Adam into Christ.
The answer to the first man is not the endless repair of Adam.
The answer is another Man.
This is why the seven last plagues reach so deeply.
God is not merely trimming branches.
He is exposing the old root and revealing another source of Life.
THE LAST ADAM WAS MADE A LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT
“The last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:45
Here is the second order.
Adam receives life.
Christ gives life.
The first man is a living soul.
The Last Adam is a life-giving Spirit.
This is the great difference between the two worlds.
The old creation lives within the limitations of the first man.
The new creation receives its life from the Second Man.
One order is passing.
The other is increasing.
One belongs to corruption.
The other belongs to incorruption.
One terminates in death.
The other manifests eternal Life.
Therefore, the seven last plagues cannot ultimately be about the victory of death.
They belong to the administration of the One who gives life.
Even divine judgment must finally serve the purpose of Life.
Even the fire must serve Life.
Even the heat must serve Life.
Even the exposure must serve Life.
Because the One administering the purpose is the life-giving Spirit.
TWO WORLDS ARE PRESENT WITHIN THE PURPOSE OF GOD
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:22
There they are again.
IN ADAM.
IN CHRIST.
Two corporate men.
Two worlds.
Two conditions.
Two realms of experience.
Paul does not merely contrast a group of particularly bad people with a group of particularly good people.
His distinction goes much deeper.
He identifies the realm of death as Adam.
He identifies the realm of Life as Christ.
This protects our interpretation of the seven last plagues from becoming an accusation against individuals.
Our message is not:
“Look at those terrible people over there whom God intends to scorch.”
Our message is:
Behold what God is doing to the Adamic order from which creation must be delivered.
That changes everything.
The judgment is against the realm of death.
The purpose is Life.
The judgment exposes the lie.
The purpose is Truth.
The judgment removes corruption.
The purpose is incorruption.
The judgment brings the old government down.
The purpose is the government of Jesus Christ.
THE CORRUPTIBLE CANNOT INHERIT INCORRUPTION
“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:50
God is not going to establish His eternal kingdom by enthroning corruption.
Corruption cannot inherit incorruption.
Death cannot inherit Life.
The lie cannot inherit Truth.
Darkness cannot inherit Light.
Adam cannot become the governmental head of the new creation.
Something must change.
Something must pass away.
Something must be swallowed up.
This is the environment in which the seven last plagues operate.
The judgments of God reveal the incompatibility between the corruptible order and the incorruptible kingdom.
The Sun shines.
The heat increases.
And everything incapable of remaining beneath the government of divine righteousness is exposed for what it is.
The problem is not the Sun.
The problem is corruption cannot inherit incorruption.
THE TWO SEEDS PRODUCE TWO KINDS OF FRUIT
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
— 1 Peter 1:23
Peter takes us deeper still.
There is corruptible seed.
There is incorruptible seed.
A seed produces according to its nature.
Corruptible seed cannot produce incorruption.
The lie cannot produce Truth.
Adam cannot produce Christ.
The natural mind cannot manufacture the mind of Christ.
This becomes tremendously important when we examine the seven last plagues.
God’s judgments expose the fruit because they are ultimately exposing the source from which the fruit proceeds.
The Lord does not merely say, “Improve the fruit.”
He reveals the seed.
He reveals the root.
He reveals the source.
And once the source is exposed, the distinction between the two worlds becomes increasingly clear.
THE NATURAL MAN CANNOT RECEIVE THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him…”
— 1 Corinthians 2:14
Why does Truth sometimes feel painful?
Because Truth confronts an order incapable of understanding it by natural ability.
The natural mind interprets according to the natural realm.
It sees outwardly.
It reasons according to appearances.
It measures spiritual reality through earthly understanding.
Then the Light of divine revelation appears.
Suddenly everything the natural mind has built is challenged.
This helps us understand the heat associated with the seven last plagues.
When divine Truth shines upon a deeply established lie, the experience can be intense.
The natural man resists what he cannot control.
The carnal mind resists the government of the Spirit.
The old order resists the appearing of the new.
But resistance cannot stop the sunrise.
The Sun keeps rising.
THE CARNAL MIND CANNOT GOVERN THE KINGDOM
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
— Romans 8:7
Notice Paul’s language:
“Neither indeed can be.”
This is not merely a behavior problem.
It is a nature problem.
The carnal mind cannot be polished until it becomes the mind of Christ.
God provides another mind.
Paul declares:
“But we have the mind of Christ.”
There is the new government.
The mind of Christ must take the throne.
This is where the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues becomes intensely personal.
There is a sun realm within man.
There is something that governs our understanding.
Something interprets what we see.
Something tells us what is true.
Something directs our desires.
Something determines our responses.
When Christ shines into that governing realm, the natural mind is exposed.
The old ruler cannot remain on the throne forever.
THE OLD MAN AND THE NEW MAN CANNOT SHARE THE THRONE
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts…”
— Ephesians 4:22
Paul calls him:
THE OLD MAN.
Then he says:
“And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
— Ephesians 4:24
Again we find the two worlds.
Old man.
New man.
Corruption.
Righteousness.
Deceit.
Truth.
The language could hardly be clearer.
And notice that the new man is created in righteousness.
That connects directly with the Sun of Righteousness.
The Sun arises over a world possessing His nature.
The Light shines upon that which is born of His Life.
But when that same Light encounters the deceitful corruption of the old man, the experience becomes exposure and judgment.
This is one reason the seven last plagues are necessary.
The old man cannot share the throne eternally with the new man.
Christ will not forever share His government with Adam.
THE SAME CLOUD WAS LIGHT AND DARKNESS
“And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these…”
— Exodus 14:20
God gave us this principle long before Revelation was written.
One cloud.
Two camps.
One divine presence.
Two experiences.
To Egypt:
darkness.
To Israel:
light.
The cloud did not have to become two different clouds.
The divine presence did not have to possess two contradictory natures.
The distinction existed in the relationship of the two realms to the same presence.
That is a beautiful picture of One Sun — Two Worlds.
It also gives us a biblical foundation for understanding the seven last plagues.
The same God whose judgments fell upon Egypt was bringing Israel out of bondage.
The judgment of one order became the deliverance of another.
The plagues were not disconnected from salvation.
They were part of the deliverance.
THE SAME WATERS THAT DELIVERED ISRAEL JUDGED EGYPT
“And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground…”
— Exodus 14:22
Israel entered the sea and found a highway.
Egypt entered the same sea and found judgment.
One sea. Two experiences.
To one realm, deliverance.
To another realm, destruction of the power holding God’s people in bondage.
This pattern matters when interpreting the seven last plagues.
God’s judgment and God’s salvation are not always two unrelated works.
Often they are two sides of the same divine action.
When God judges the power that enslaves, He delivers the one enslaved by that power.
When He destroys the lie, He liberates the one deceived by the lie.
When He removes false government, He releases those held beneath its dominion.
When He exposes darkness, He opens the way for men to walk in Light.
THE CROSS ITSELF REVEALS ONE EVENT WITH TWO RESULTS
“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
— Colossians 2:15
At the cross, Jesus Christ accomplished salvation.
But that same cross also became judgment upon an old order.
Principalities and powers were spoiled.
An old dominion was defeated.
Sin was dealt with.
Death received its sentence.
The prince of this world was judged.
One event.
Salvation and judgment.
Deliverance and overthrow.
Life and the defeat of death.
This pattern prepares us to understand the seven last plagues.
God’s judgment is not the opposite of His salvation.
His judgment upon the power that enslaves can become the very means by which His creation is delivered from bondage.
THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD CREATES A CRISIS FOR DARKNESS
“And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world…”
— John 9:39
Jesus came as Savior.
Yet Jesus also said:
“For judgment I am come.”
There is no contradiction.
His very presence produces judgment because He reveals what is true.
Jesus does not need to accuse the blind man.
He gives sight.
And once sight appears, blindness is revealed.
Jesus does not need to become darkness to judge darkness.
He shines.
This is the operation we are tracing through the seven last plagues.
Christ appears.
Truth appears.
Light appears.
And the old world discovers that it cannot remain concealed.
THE FIRE DOES NOT TREAT GOLD AND STUBBLE THE SAME
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire…”
— 1 Corinthians 3:13
One fire.
Different materials.
Gold encounters the fire.
Stubble encounters the fire.
The fire does not change.
The material determines what the fire reveals.
Gold is refined.
Stubble is consumed.
This is perhaps one of the clearest pictures of One Sun — Two Worlds.
The same divine intensity that purifies what belongs to God consumes that which cannot remain.
This is why the seven last plagues must never be interpreted without understanding the purpose of divine fire.
The fire knows what to burn.
The Refiner knows what to preserve.
The Judge knows what belongs to the old creation.
The Father knows what belongs to His eternal purpose.
THE LIE EXPERIENCES TRUTH AS TORMENT
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world…”
— John 3:19
Again John brings us directly to the issue.
Light came.
That was enough to create judgment.
Why?
Because darkness had something to hide.
This is where our simple statement carries tremendous spiritual truth:
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
Truth does not need to abuse the lie.
Truth does not need to falsely accuse the lie.
Truth does not even need to argue with the lie.
Truth simply needs to stand revealed.
The lie cannot survive forever in the unveiled presence of Truth.
That is why the intensity of the seven last plagues increases.
The revelation is reaching deeper.
The coverings are coming off.
The hiding places are disappearing.
The old world is being brought face-to-face with the Truth.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS SHINES UPON BOTH WORLDS
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
Now we return to our Sun.
The Sun is righteous.
The Sun is Christ.
The Sun carries healing.
Yet the Day of His appearing also burns as an oven.
How?
One Sun — Two Worlds.
The new creation encounters Him as healing.
The old creation encounters Him as exposure.
The incorruptible encounters Him as glory.
The corruptible discovers it cannot inherit His kingdom.
Truth rejoices in the Light.
The lie discovers there is nowhere left to hide.
The Sun has not changed.
Jesus Christ has not changed.
God’s eternal purpose has not changed.
What changes is the world beneath His shining.
THE OLD WORLD IS PASSING AWAY
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
— 1 John 2:17
John does not say the old world will be preserved forever.
It passes away.
Its desires pass.
Its arrangements pass.
Its false glory passes.
Its government passes.
Its darkness passes.
Its lie passes.
That is precisely what the seven last plagues reveal.
They expose a world that has no eternal future.
The old order may resist.
It may blaspheme.
It may cling to its throne.
It may fight against the Light.
But it cannot stop the purpose of God.
The world passes away.
THE NEW CREATION ABIDES
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
God’s answer to the old world is the new creation.
His answer to Adam is Christ.
His answer to corruption is incorruption.
His answer to darkness is Light.
His answer to death is Life.
His answer to the lie is Truth.
His answer to false government is the kingdom of His Son.
This is why the seven last plagues cannot be understood merely as a story about what God destroys.
They must also be understood as a revelation of what God establishes.
The old passes.
The new appears.
Adam decreases.
Christ increases.
Darkness retreats.
Light fills the realm.
THE OLD HEAVENS MUST GIVE WAY TO THE NEW
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
Peter understood the transition.
He saw fervent heat.
He saw elements melting.
He saw heavens passing.
But he kept looking.
And beyond the heat he saw:
NEW HEAVENS.
A NEW EARTH.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
That is the destination of the seven last plagues.
The fire is not the destination.
The heat is not the destination.
The passing away is not the destination.
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE DESTINATION.
And what rises over that new world?
The Sun of Righteousness.
THE FIRST MAN DOES NOT HAVE THE FINAL WORD
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
Adam does not have the final word.
Death does not have the final word.
The beast does not have the final word.
Babylon does not have the final word.
The lie does not have the final word.
Darkness does not have the final word.
JESUS CHRIST HAS THE FINAL WORD.
He must reign.
This is the great governmental purpose unfolding through the seven last plagues.
Every realm is being brought beneath His feet.
Every false government is being exposed.
Every enemy is being subjected.
Every hiding place of the lie is being invaded by Light.
Until ultimately there remains no rival throne.
THE LAST ENEMY SHALL BE DESTROYED
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
There is God’s destination.
Not the everlasting preservation of death.
The destruction of death.
If death itself is destined for destruction, then the seven last plagues cannot terminate in the everlasting victory of death.
They must belong to the process by which the government of Life triumphs.
Jesus Christ is the life-giving Spirit.
His kingdom is the kingdom of Life.
His Light exposes death.
His fire judges death.
His reign continues until death itself is abolished.
The Sun shines until every shadow disappears.
GOD SHALL BE ALL IN ALL
“And when all things shall be subdued unto him…that God may be all in all.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:28
Here is the horizon toward which everything moves.
GOD ALL IN ALL.
This is why we must understand the two worlds.
They are not two eternal kingdoms existing side by side forever.
Adam is not Christ’s eternal rival.
The corruptible world does not possess an everlasting throne opposite the incorruptible world.
One world is passing.
One kingdom has no end.
One man is earthy.
The Second Man is Lord from heaven.
One order terminates in death.
The other swallows death up in victory.
Therefore, when the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is poured upon the sun and great heat begins to manifest, we know something deeper is happening than physical scorching.
The government of the old world is being confronted by the government of another Man.
The earthy is encountering the heavenly.
The corruptible is encountering the incorruptible.
The lie is encountering Truth.
Darkness is encountering Light.
Adam is encountering Christ.
And the outcome has already been declared:
HE MUST REIGN.
The same Sun shines upon both worlds.
To the old creation, His appearing exposes everything that must pass away.
To the new creation, He arises with healing in His wings.
One Sun.
Two worlds.
One world passing away.
One kingdom increasing without end.
And when God’s purpose reaches its fullness, there will not be two competing governments standing forever.
There will be one glorious reality:
GOD ALL IN ALL.
CHAPTER FIVE
WHEN TRUTH WALKS INTO THE ROOM
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES REVEAL WHAT HAPPENS WHEN LIGHT ENTERS DARKNESS
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world…”
— John 3:19
Jesus did not say:
“This is the condemnation, that darkness came into the world.”
He said:
“Light is come.”
That changes everything.
The judgment was produced by the appearing of Light.
The Light did not need to become darkness.
The Light did not need to imitate the methods of darkness.
The Light did not need to enter into a struggle to determine which power was greater.
The Light simply appeared.
And when the Light appeared, the darkness was exposed.
This is one of the clearest ways to understand the seven last plagues.
The judgments of God reveal what happens when Jesus Christ enters realms that have been operating beneath falsehood, mixture, corruption, and darkness.
The Light comes.
The truth is revealed.
The hidden things are uncovered.
And the old world discovers that it cannot remain concealed forever.
We could say it in the simplest possible way:
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE TRUTH
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life…”
— John 14:6
Truth is not merely a collection of accurate statements.
Truth is revealed in a Person.
Jesus Christ said:
“I am the truth.”
That means when Truth walks into the room, Jesus Christ has walked into the room.
When the Light enters, Christ has entered.
When the lie is exposed, it is because Christ has been revealed.
When corruption is uncovered, it is because the incorruptible One has appeared.
When false government is brought into judgment, it is because the true King has manifested His authority.
This keeps the seven last plagues Christ-centered.
The bowls are not independent events separated from the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The judgments reveal Him.
The exposure reveals Him.
The purification reveals Him.
The separation reveals Him.
The victory reveals Him.
Jesus Christ is not standing outside the process waiting for judgment to finish.
He is the Truth being revealed through the process.
TRUTH DOES NOT NEED THE LIE TO AGREE WITH IT
“For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:8
The lie may resist Truth.
The lie may criticize Truth.
The lie may blaspheme Truth.
The lie may attempt to hide from Truth.
But the lie cannot change Truth.
Truth remains Truth.
This is why the seven last plagues do not reveal a contest between equal powers.
The lie has no eternal future.
Darkness has no eternal throne.
Corruption has no everlasting kingdom.
Death has no final victory.
Truth does not need permission from falsehood to remain true.
Jesus Christ does not need approval from Adam in order to reign.
The kingdom of God does not depend upon the consent of the old order in order to increase.
Truth stands.
LIGHT MAKES MANIFEST
“But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.”
— Ephesians 5:13
Here is one of the great definitions of divine judgment.
LIGHT MAKES MANIFEST.
That which was hidden becomes visible.
That which was mixed becomes distinguishable.
That which was concealed beneath religious language, human wisdom, tradition, fear, or deception is brought into the open.
This is what the revelation of Jesus Christ does.
And this is what the seven last plagues progressively accomplish.
The first bowl reveals.
The second bowl reveals.
The third bowl reveals.
The fourth bowl reveals.
Each bowl reaches another realm.
Each manifestation uncovers another dimension of the old world.
God is bringing everything into the Light.
Why?
Because deliverance requires revelation.
A man cannot be delivered from a lie he still believes is Truth.
A man cannot leave bondage he still believes is freedom.
A man cannot come out of darkness while calling darkness light.
Therefore, the Light must reveal.
THE LIE DEPENDS UPON DARKNESS
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
— John 3:20
Darkness gives the lie a hiding place.
Confusion gives mixture a hiding place.
Ignorance gives false government a hiding place.
Fear gives religious control a hiding place.
The natural mind gives earthly reasoning a hiding place.
But Light removes the covering.
This is why the appearing of Jesus Christ can be experienced as judgment.
The problem is not that Jesus Christ becomes evil.
The problem is that His Light destroys the environment necessary for the lie to survive.
This gives us a powerful way to understand the scorching imagery within the seven last plagues.
The heat reveals the intensity of divine Truth confronting an order that has existed beneath false coverings.
The lie is being brought into an atmosphere where it cannot survive.
THERE IS NOTHING COVERED THAT SHALL NOT BE REVEALED
“For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.”
— Luke 12:2
Jesus declares the destiny of everything hidden.
IT SHALL BE REVEALED.
That is not a threat against God’s creation.
It is a promise that darkness will not rule forever.
Every false covering eventually comes off.
Every lie is eventually identified.
Every hidden work is eventually brought into manifestation.
Every false throne is eventually exposed.
Every realm of Adam eventually encounters the Light of Christ.
This is exactly what we are seeing throughout the seven last plagues.
The bowls leave nowhere untouched.
The entire old order is being brought into the open.
THE WORD DISCERNS THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTS OF THE HEART
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
— Hebrews 4:12
The Word does not stop at outward appearance.
It penetrates.
It divides.
It discerns.
It reveals motives.
It separates what has been mixed.
This is why the judgment of God cannot be reduced merely to external punishment.
God goes after the source.
He reveals the root.
He uncovers the governing principle.
He exposes the thought behind the action.
He reveals the nature behind the work.
This is where the seven last plagues become an inward revelation as well as a corporate one.
The Light reaches the places within man where Adam has governed unnoticed.
The Sun shines upon the inner government.
The natural mind is exposed.
The false source is revealed.
And the Word distinguishes between what belongs to Adam and what belongs to Christ.
ALL THINGS ARE NAKED AND OPENED BEFORE HIM
“Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
— Hebrews 4:13
Nothing is hidden from God.
The revelation is not for His benefit.
God does not pour out the seven last plagues because He needs to discover what is happening.
He already knows.
The revelation is for creation.
That which God already sees must be brought into manifestation.
The lie must be seen as the lie.
Darkness must be recognized as darkness.
Death must be recognized as death.
The beast must be revealed for what it is.
Babylon must be revealed for what she is.
The old government must be exposed.
Then creation can be delivered from what has deceived it.
TRUTH SEPARATES WHAT MIXTURE JOINED TOGETHER
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32
Notice the order.
KNOW THE TRUTH.
Then:
THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.
Revelation precedes liberty.
This is a central principle in the seven last plagues.
God reveals before He delivers.
He exposes before He separates.
He uncovers before He purifies.
Why?
Because mixture survives by making two things appear to be one.
Truth separates them.
Truth says:
This belongs to Adam.
This belongs to Christ.
This is corruptible.
This is incorruptible.
This is the lie.
This is Truth.
And once the distinction becomes clear, freedom becomes possible.
JESUS CHRIST CAME TO BEAR WITNESS UNTO THE TRUTH
“To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.”
— John 18:37
Jesus Christ came into the world carrying Truth.
He did not come merely to establish another religion.
He came to reveal the Father.
He came to reveal Life.
He came to reveal the kingdom.
He came to reveal what man was in Adam.
He came to reveal what God had purposed in Christ.
He came to bear witness unto the Truth.
That same purpose continues through the seven last plagues.
Every bowl bears witness to Truth by exposing something false.
Every judgment reveals something that cannot remain.
Every plague brings creation closer to the complete manifestation of what God has purposed in Jesus Christ.
THE LIGHT SHINES INTO THE DARKNESS
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
— John 1:5
Darkness cannot overcome Light.
That is the great assurance behind the seven last plagues.
The darkness may resist.
The darkness may blaspheme.
The darkness may rage.
But it cannot stop the Light from shining.
The lie may become angry when exposed.
The old world may resist when its government is challenged.
The flesh may react when the throne beneath it begins to shake.
But none of those reactions change the outcome.
The Light shines.
MEN LOVED DARKNESS RATHER THAN LIGHT
“And men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”
— John 3:19
This verse explains why Truth can produce such a strong reaction.
Men become accustomed to the realm in which they live.
A lie believed long enough can feel normal.
Bondage experienced long enough can feel safe.
Religious mixture practiced long enough can feel holy.
The natural mind operating long enough can feel like spiritual understanding.
Then Light appears.
Suddenly the old definitions are challenged.
The old security is shaken.
The old government is exposed.
This helps us understand the resistance encountered in the seven last plagues.
The heat increases because the old order is being pressed by a revelation it cannot absorb without changing.
BLASPHEMY REVEALS WHAT THE HEAT HAS UNCOVERED
“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God…”
— Revelation 16:9
The heat reveals something.
It brings the inner condition outward.
What was hidden within begins to manifest openly.
That is what judgment does.
The heat does not create the condition.
It exposes the condition.
Fire reveals what the material is made of.
Pressure reveals what is inside the vessel.
Light reveals what darkness concealed.
This is one reason the scorching imagery of the seven last plagues is so significant.
The divine dealing brings the old nature into manifestation so that it can no longer pretend to be something else.
THE FIRE SHALL TRY EVERY MAN’S WORK
“The fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:13
The fire asks one question:
What sort is it?
Not:
Who has the best reputation?
Who belongs to the right organization?
Who possesses the strongest religious title?
Who appears spiritual?
The fire reveals what sort it is.
Does it belong to the old creation or the new?
Does it proceed from Adam or Christ?
Does it arise from corruptible seed or incorruptible seed?
Does it agree with Truth or depend upon the lie?
This is the separating work hidden within the seven last plagues.
GOD JUDGES THE SECRETS OF MEN BY JESUS CHRIST
“In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”
— Romans 2:16
Notice Paul’s language:
BY JESUS CHRIST.
Jesus Christ is the standard.
Jesus Christ is the Light.
Jesus Christ is the Truth.
Everything is measured against Him.
Judgment is therefore revelation by comparison with Christ.
That which agrees with Christ is revealed.
That which contradicts His nature is exposed.
That which belongs to His Life remains.
That which belongs to the old world must pass away.
This is how the seven last plagues remain completely Christ-centered.
TRUTH DESTROYS THE REFUGE OF LIES
“Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies…”
— Isaiah 28:17
What a powerful expression:
THE REFUGE OF LIES.
A lie becomes a refuge when men build security upon it.
They live inside it.
They defend it.
They protect it.
They fear leaving it.
But God’s judgment sweeps away the refuge.
Why?
Because God does not intend for His creation to live forever inside a lie.
This is the redemptive heart of the seven last plagues.
God judges the refuge because He intends to free the people hiding within it.
He exposes the structure because He intends to bring His creation into Truth.
THE STRONGHOLDS ARE CAST DOWN
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds…”
— 2 Corinthians 10:4
Paul immediately explains what those strongholds involve:
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God…”
— 2 Corinthians 10:5
There is the battle.
Knowledge.
Thought.
Imagination.
Government within the mind.
Something has exalted itself against the knowledge of God.
That false exaltation becomes a governing light.
It functions as a sun within the old world.
But when Truth appears, that high thing must come down.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reaches directly toward that governmental realm.
THE SUN REALM IS A REALM OF INFLUENCE
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day…”
— Genesis 1:16
The sun rules by shining.
That is a picture of influence.
A governing thought shines over the rest of a man’s consciousness.
A ruling doctrine influences everything beneath it.
A false understanding of God can affect every part of a believer’s life.
A revelation of Jesus Christ can transform everything beneath it.
The sun realm therefore represents the higher governing influences that give direction to the realm below.
And in the seven last plagues, God touches the sun.
Truth is entering the governing realm.
FALSE LIGHT CAN APPEAR TO BE TRUE LIGHT
“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
— 2 Corinthians 11:14
Not everything called light is divine Light.
This is why revelation is necessary.
Falsehood does not always present itself as obvious darkness.
Sometimes the lie dresses itself in light.
It uses spiritual language.
It quotes Scripture.
It borrows religious authority.
It appeals to tradition.
It claims divine approval.
That makes the work of the seven last plagues even more necessary.
The Light of Christ does not merely expose obvious darkness.
It exposes counterfeit light.
It reveals false suns.
It uncovers governing influences that claimed heavenly authority but were rooted in the old Adamic world.
CHRIST IS THE TRUE LIGHT
“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
— John 1:9
There is the answer to every counterfeit.
THE TRUE LIGHT.
Jesus Christ does not merely defeat falsehood by argument.
He reveals Himself.
When the True Light appears, every false light is measured against Him.
When the true Sun rises, every lesser governing light is exposed.
When the true government appears, every false government is revealed.
This is the movement of the seven last plagues.
THE LIE HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof…”
— 1 John 2:17
The lie is temporary.
The old world is temporary.
The darkness is temporary.
The corruption is temporary.
The false government is temporary.
This is why the judgment of God is inevitable.
God will not permit a temporary lie to occupy an eternal throne.
The Light will eventually reach every hiding place.
Truth will eventually expose every falsehood.
The old world will eventually pass.
The new creation will remain.
JESUS CHRIST CAME TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
— 1 John 3:8
Notice again:
THE SON OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED.
Manifestation destroys the works of darkness.
Christ appears.
The lie collapses.
Truth comes.
Deception loses its foundation.
Light shines.
Darkness retreats.
This is what the seven last plagues reveal on a grand scale.
The Son of God is manifested until everything contrary to His Life is exposed and removed.
WHEN TRUTH WALKS INTO THE ROOM, THE LIE MUST MOVE
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
— John 17:17
Truth sanctifies.
Truth separates.
Truth purifies.
Truth delivers.
Truth governs.
That is why our understanding of the Fourth Bowl cannot stop at scorching.
The heat is part of a greater work.
Truth is entering the room.
And once Truth enters, the lie must surrender its territory.
The lie may resist.
It may rage.
It may blaspheme.
It may cling to its old throne.
But it cannot remain forever.
The seven last plagues reveal the progressive invasion of every realm by divine Truth.
Earth.
Sea.
Rivers and fountains.
Sun.
Throne.
River.
Air.
Every realm is touched.
Every hiding place is entered.
Every false covering is removed.
Why?
Because Jesus Christ is Truth.
And Truth has come to reign.
THE GOVERNMENT OF TRUTH SHALL HAVE NO END
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7
Truth is not merely visiting.
Truth is taking government.
Jesus Christ is not merely exposing the old order.
He is establishing another order.
The Sun of Righteousness is arising.
The true Light is shining.
The government of Christ is increasing.
This is the direction of the seven last plagues.
The judgments remove what cannot remain under His government.
The Light exposes what cannot remain in His kingdom.
The fire tests what cannot abide His nature.
And His government continues to increase.
THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32
This is where the chapter must end.
Not with exposure alone.
Not with judgment alone.
Not with scorching alone.
WITH FREEDOM.
God reveals the lie because He intends to free His creation from the lie.
He reveals darkness because He intends to bring creation into Light.
He exposes false government because He intends to establish righteous government.
He judges corruption because He intends to reveal incorruption.
He exposes Adam because He intends to manifest Christ.
This is the purpose we must see within the seven last plagues.
The Fourth Angel brings the bowl toward the sun realm.
The governing lights are being touched.
The old authorities are being exposed.
The lie is losing its refuge.
And Truth is walking into the room.
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
But for the one being delivered from that lie, it can become the beginning of a very good day.
Because Jesus did not merely say:
“You shall know the Truth.”
He finished the revelation:
“AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE.”
CHAPTER SIX
THE FOURTH ANGEL POURED HIS BOWL UPON THE SUN
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES NOW REACH THE GOVERNING REALM
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.”
— Revelation 16:8
Now we arrive directly at the Fourth Bowl.
The first three bowls of the seven last plagues have already revealed a progressive dealing of God with different realms.
The earth has been touched.
The sea has been touched.
The rivers and fountains have been touched.
And now the fourth angel raises the bowl toward the sun.
This is significant.
The movement is upward.
The judgment now reaches the realm of governing light.
From Genesis onward, the sun is associated with rulership, authority, influence, and government. The greater light was appointed to rule the day. The heavens rule. Righteous rulers are compared to the rising sun. God Himself is called a Sun.
Therefore, when the fourth angel pours his bowl upon the sun, we are entering the realm of government.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is touching the ruling influences of the old world.
THE SUN IS MORE THAN A BALL OF FIRE
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day…”
— Genesis 1:16
If we read Revelation 16 only through natural reasoning, we might imagine an astronomical catastrophe involving the physical sun.
But Revelation has already taught us to read symbolically.
The sun carries biblical meaning.
The sun shines from heaven.
The sun gives light.
The sun influences everything beneath it.
The sun rules.
This is why the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues must be understood spiritually.
The question is not merely:
What happens to the physical sun?
The greater question is:
What ruling order is being brought under judgment?
The bowl is poured upon the sun because God is dealing with the realm that governs.
GOVERNMENT ALWAYS PRODUCES AN EFFECT BELOW IT
“And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule…”
— Genesis 1:17–18
The heavenly lights rule from above.
The earth receives their influence below.
This is a picture of government.
Whatever occupies the higher governing realm affects the realm beneath it.
A righteous government can produce order.
A corrupt government can produce bondage.
A true revelation of God can produce life.
A false revelation of God can produce fear, confusion, condemnation, and death.
A governing thought can shape an entire life.
A governing doctrine can shape an entire religious system.
A governing spirit can influence an entire people.
This is why the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is so powerful.
God is not merely dealing with the fruit.
He is reaching into the realm that has been producing the fruit.
He is touching the sun.
THE SUN REALM SPEAKS OF RULING INFLUENCE
“The heavens do rule.”
— Daniel 4:26
Government does not merely exist in political institutions.
Government operates everywhere.
Thought governs action.
Belief governs behavior.
Vision governs direction.
Desire governs pursuit.
Fear governs decisions.
Truth governs freedom.
The mind of Christ governs the new creation.
The natural mind governs the old man.
The sun realm therefore speaks of the higher governing influences that direct the world beneath them.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reaches into those governing influences and brings them beneath the judgment of God.
THE OLD WORLD HAS ITS OWN RULING LIGHTS
“The first man is of the earth, earthy…”
— 1 Corinthians 15:47
Adam has a world.
And that world has government.
The natural mind governs.
Human wisdom governs.
Tradition governs.
Fear governs.
Religious mixture governs.
Pride governs.
Self-preservation governs.
Desire governs.
The lust of the flesh governs.
The lust of the eyes governs.
The pride of life governs.
These things function as ruling lights within the old creation.
They shape how men think.
They shape how men see God.
They shape how men see themselves.
They shape how men respond to one another.
And as the seven last plagues unfold, those governing lights are progressively exposed.
THE BOWL IS POURED UPON THE SOURCE OF GOVERNING HEAT
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
Notice that the bowl is not first poured upon the men.
It is poured upon the sun.
The judgment reaches the governing source before the effect appears below.
That is a powerful principle.
God goes after the root.
God goes after the source.
God goes after the government.
God goes after the ruling influence.
This is how the seven last plagues reveal the wisdom of divine judgment.
The Lord does not merely address outward symptoms forever.
He brings the hidden source into the Light.
POWER WAS GIVEN UNTO THE SUN
“And power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.”
— Revelation 16:8
The text says power was given.
That means the sun is not operating independently.
Nothing in this vision is outside the sovereignty of God.
The heat itself is permitted within the divine purpose.
This does not mean that every oppressive action of the old order reflects God’s character.
It means that God is sovereign over the process through which the old order is exposed.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues brings the governing realm into a condition where its true nature becomes unmistakable.
What has been hidden begins to manifest.
The pressure increases.
The heat rises.
And the old government reveals itself.
HEAT REVEALS WHAT IS WITHIN
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
Heat has a revealing quality.
Under heat, hidden things come to the surface.
Under pressure, inner conditions manifest outwardly.
Fire reveals what material is made of.
This is why the scorching imagery of the seven last plagues should not be understood merely as meaningless suffering.
The heat reveals.
The heat exposes.
The heat makes manifest.
The old order can no longer maintain its disguise.
The governing nature becomes visible.
THE FIRE DOES NOT CREATE THE CONDITION
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire…”
— 1 Corinthians 3:13
The fire reveals what is already there.
It does not create the wood.
It does not create the stubble.
It does not create the gold.
It reveals what each thing is.
So it is with the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues.
The heat does not create the lie.
The heat exposes the lie.
The heat does not create the corruptible nature.
The heat reveals it.
The heat does not create false government.
The heat brings false government into manifestation.
BLASPHEMY REVEALS THE INNER CONDITION
“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God…”
— Revelation 16:9
The response matters.
Blasphemy rises under the heat.
Why?
Because pressure reveals the inward condition.
The old man does not naturally surrender his throne.
The carnal mind is not subject to God.
The lie does not celebrate when Truth exposes it.
Darkness does not rejoice when Light removes its hiding place.
This is what the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reveals.
The heat produces manifestation.
The inner resistance comes outward.
And once it is revealed, it can be dealt with.
THE FLESH RESISTS WHAT THE SPIRIT REVEALS
“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh…”
— Galatians 5:17
There is conflict between the two realms.
The flesh resists the Spirit.
The natural resists the spiritual.
The earthy resists the heavenly.
Adam resists Christ.
The old government resists the new government.
This does not mean the conflict will continue forever.
It means the transition involves exposure.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues brings that resistance into the Light.
THE SUN OF THE OLD WORLD CANNOT RULE FOREVER
“The world passeth away, and the lust thereof…”
— 1 John 2:17
The old world is temporary.
Its governing lights are temporary.
Its authorities are temporary.
Its fears are temporary.
Its traditions are temporary.
Its false wisdom is temporary.
Its darkness is temporary.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is another witness that the old government has an expiration date.
The sun realm of Adam cannot occupy the heavens forever.
THE OLD HEAVENS MUST PASS AWAY
“The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Here Peter gives us language that sounds remarkably close to the Fourth Bowl.
Heaven.
Heat.
Dissolution.
Passing away.
But Peter does not leave us with destruction alone.
The fervent heat serves a transition.
The elements of the old world are passing.
The old heavens are being dissolved.
And this helps us understand the seven last plagues.
The heat is not the destination.
The heat belongs to the passing of one order and the appearing of another.
THE ELEMENTS OF THE OLD WORLD ARE BEING DISSOLVED
“The elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
The old world has elements.
Principles.
Structures.
Systems.
Governments.
Ways of thinking.
Ways of seeing.
Ways of ruling.
Those elements cannot remain eternally.
The fire of divine revelation reaches them.
The heat exposes their temporary nature.
And what cannot stand in the new creation begins to dissolve.
This is part of the mystery of the seven last plagues.
The bowls are dismantling an old order.
THE HEAT HAS A PURPOSE
“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be…”
— 2 Peter 3:11
Peter does not merely announce dissolution.
He asks what kind of people we should become in light of that dissolution.
That means the judgment carries a moral and spiritual purpose.
If the old world is passing, do not build your identity in it.
If the old heavens are dissolving, do not make them your eternal home.
If the old government is being judged, do not cling to its throne.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues calls us out of false security.
WE LOOK FOR NEW HEAVENS
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
There is Peter’s destination.
NEW HEAVENS.
NEW EARTH.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
This is the purpose toward which the seven last plagues are moving.
The old sun realm is judged because another government is arising.
The old ruling lights lose their authority because the Sun of Righteousness is appearing.
The old heavens pass because new heavens are being established.
THE FOURTH BOWL TOUCHES CORPORATE GOVERNMENT
“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together…”
— Psalm 2:2
The Fourth Bowl has a corporate dimension.
Governments.
Institutions.
Religious systems.
Cultural authorities.
Structures of influence.
These can function as suns over people.
They establish values.
They define acceptable thought.
They shape behavior.
They tell people what to fear.
They tell people what to believe.
They claim authority.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reveals that no corporate government can remain outside the judgment of Jesus Christ.
Every ruling light must eventually be measured against Him.
THE FOURTH BOWL TOUCHES INDIVIDUAL GOVERNMENT
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”
— Proverbs 23:7
The sun realm also exists within the individual.
What governs your thinking?
What rules your inner world?
What gives light to your decisions?
What tells you who God is?
What tells you who you are?
What tells you what is possible?
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reaches inward.
The government of the natural mind must be exposed.
The throne of fear must be challenged.
The authority of the lie must be removed.
The mind of Christ must become the ruling light.
THE MIND OF CHRIST IS A NEW GOVERNMENT
“But we have the mind of Christ.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:16
There is the new sun realm within man.
The mind of Christ governs from another source.
It sees differently.
It judges differently.
It understands differently.
It loves differently.
It responds differently.
It is heavenly because it proceeds from the heavenly Man.
This is what the seven last plagues are ultimately making room for.
The old government is exposed so the new government can stand.
THE GOVERNMENT SHALL BE UPON HIS SHOULDER
“And the government shall be upon his shoulder…”
— Isaiah 9:6
The Fourth Bowl is governmental.
The sun is governmental.
The kingdom is governmental.
The issue is ultimately:
Who rules?
Adam?
Or Christ?
The natural mind?
Or the mind of Christ?
The old world?
Or the kingdom of God?
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues declares that the old government will not retain eternal dominion.
OF THE INCREASE OF HIS GOVERNMENT THERE SHALL BE NO END
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7
Christ’s government increases.
That means every rival government decreases.
Every false light fades.
Every corrupt throne loses authority.
Every lie loses influence.
Every old sun eventually sets.
This is where the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is carrying us.
The old governmental order is being subjected to the increasing government of Jesus Christ.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE TRUE GOVERNING LIGHT
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
The answer to false government is not anarchy.
The answer is righteous government.
The answer is Jesus Christ.
The Sun of Righteousness rises.
His Light governs.
His Truth governs.
His Love governs.
His Life governs.
His righteousness governs.
This is the government being established through the seven last plagues.
THE FOURTH BOWL EXPOSES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO SUN REALMS
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
There is an old governing realm.
And there is a new governing realm.
One belongs to Adam.
One belongs to Christ.
One is temporary.
One is everlasting.
One produces oppression.
One produces peace.
One operates through darkness and mixture.
One operates through Truth and Light.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues brings the distinction into manifestation.
THE HEAT REVEALS THE OLD GOVERNMENT FOR WHAT IT IS
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
When the governing realm comes under judgment, its nature becomes visible.
False government becomes oppressive.
Fear intensifies.
Control intensifies.
Resistance intensifies.
The old order reveals what has been living inside it.
But revelation is not the end.
Exposure prepares the way for removal.
GOD DOES NOT EXPOSE WITHOUT PURPOSE
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32
God exposes false government to deliver creation from false government.
He reveals the lie to free men from the lie.
He exposes darkness to bring men into Light.
He judges Adamic rulership to establish the rulership of Christ.
This is the redemptive purpose within the seven last plagues.
THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD SHALL BECOME HIS
“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”
— Revelation 11:15
There is the destination of the sun realm.
Government passes into the hands of Christ.
The old rulers do not possess eternal dominion.
The old sun does not shine forever.
Another King reigns.
Another government fills the heavens.
Another Light rules the world.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues participates in that transition.
THE LAMB SHALL OVERCOME THEM
“For he is Lord of lords, and King of kings…”
— Revelation 17:14
The final authority belongs to the Lamb.
Not Babylon.
Not the beast.
Not Adam.
Not death.
Not corruption.
Not the lie.
THE LAMB.
This is why we can read the Fourth Bowl without fear.
We know where the story is going.
The Sun of Righteousness rises.
The old government is exposed.
The false lights lose authority.
And Jesus Christ reigns.
THE FOURTH ANGEL REVEALS THE JUDGMENT OF GOVERNMENT
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
This is the central revelation of the chapter.
The Fourth Bowl is not merely about heat.
It is about government under judgment.
It is about ruling light being exposed.
It is about influence being tested.
It is about the sun realm coming beneath the authority of Jesus Christ.
The seven last plagues progressively reveal the collapse of the old order and the establishment of the new.
The Fourth Angel reaches the governing realm.
The bowl touches the sun.
The heat reveals what has been hidden.
The old government manifests its nature.
And beneath the judgment another government is already rising.
JESUS CHRIST SHALL REIGN
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
This is the final word over the Fourth Bowl.
HE MUST REIGN.
The heat cannot stop His reign.
The blasphemy cannot stop His reign.
The resistance cannot stop His reign.
The old heavens cannot stop His reign.
The false sun cannot stop His reign.
The lie cannot stop His reign.
The seven last plagues belong to the unfolding purpose through which every realm is brought under His authority.
Earth.
Sea.
Rivers.
Fountains.
Sun.
Throne.
River.
Air.
Every realm.
Every government.
Every authority.
Every hiding place.
Until all things are brought beneath Jesus Christ.
The Fourth Angel pours his bowl upon the sun because the government of the old world cannot remain untouched.
The ruling realm must encounter Truth.
The old light must encounter the True Light.
The old throne must encounter the everlasting King.
And when that encounter reaches its fullness, the sun realm will no longer belong to Adam.
It will stand under the righteous government of Jesus Christ.
The seven last plagues are revealing the transfer of government from the old creation to the kingdom of God.
And the Fourth Bowl declares:
The sun realm is not exempt.
It, too, must come under the government of Jesus Christ.
CHAPTER SEVEN
SCORCHED WITH GREAT HEAT
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES REVEAL THE INTENSITY OF DIVINE TRUTH
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
The language is intense.
GREAT HEAT.
The fourth angel has poured his bowl upon the sun, and now the effect of that judgment is being felt.
But if we have followed the revelation carefully from Genesis to this point, we already know that we are dealing with more than natural temperature.
The sun speaks of rulership.
The sun speaks of governing influence.
The sun speaks of authority.
The sun speaks of light shining from a higher realm into the realm beneath it.
Therefore, when the seven last plagues bring us to great heat, we must ask:
What does divine heat reveal?
What happens when Truth becomes intense?
What happens when Light reaches a realm that has survived by darkness?
What happens when the government of Jesus Christ begins pressing upon an order governed by Adam?
The answer is simple.
Everything hidden begins to come out.
GREAT HEAT MAKES THE HIDDEN CONDITION VISIBLE
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
Heat has a revealing nature.
Place something under sufficient heat and its condition begins to manifest.
What appeared stable may begin to break down.
What was hidden beneath the surface may emerge.
What seemed strong may reveal weakness.
What seemed pure may reveal mixture.
This is one of the reasons the seven last plagues contain such powerful images of heat, fire, blood, darkness, and shaking.
God is bringing an old world into manifestation.
The covering is coming off.
The disguise is disappearing.
The true condition is becoming visible.
The great heat does not invent the corruption.
It reveals the corruption.
THE FIRE SHALL TRY EVERY MAN’S WORK
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:13
Paul says the fire reveals what sort it is.
That phrase is important.
Fire distinguishes.
It does not treat every substance alike.
Gold reacts one way.
Wood reacts another way.
Precious stones endure.
Stubble disappears.
The same fire touches all of them.
But the nature of the material determines what the fire reveals.
This helps us understand the great heat of the seven last plagues.
The issue is not merely that fire is present.
The issue is:
What is the fire touching?
What belongs to Christ?
What belongs to Adam?
What is incorruptible?
What is corruptible?
What is Truth?
What is the lie?
The fire makes the distinction visible.
THE FIRE DOES NOT CREATE THE STUBBLE
“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:15
The fire did not create the work.
The work already existed.
The fire revealed its nature.
And Paul gives us something even greater:
The work can burn while the man himself is saved.
That distinction is essential.
God knows the difference between the person and the corruption from which the person must be delivered.
God knows the difference between His creation and the works of the old creation.
God knows the difference between the vessel and the mixture inside the vessel.
Therefore, the seven last plagues need not be interpreted as God losing His purpose for mankind.
They reveal God dealing with everything in mankind that cannot inherit His kingdom.
The fire burns the stubble.
The purpose of God remains.
OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE
“For our God is a consuming fire.”
— Hebrews 12:29
This is not merely something God does.
It is something Scripture says God is.
God is Light.
God is Love.
God is Spirit.
And God is a consuming Fire.
These are not competing descriptions.
They belong to one divine nature.
The God who loves consumes everything that destroys the object of His love.
The God who is Light burns through darkness.
The God who is Truth consumes the lie.
The God who is Life judges death.
This is why the seven last plagues can contain fire without becoming contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Fire is working toward the same purpose as the Love.
THE REFINER’S FIRE HAS A PURPOSE
“But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire…”
— Malachi 3:2
Notice the words:
“WHEN HE APPEARETH.”
The fire is connected to His appearing.
The Refiner does not hate the silver.
The Refiner values the silver.
He applies heat because something precious is mixed with something that does not belong.
This gives us one of the clearest pictures of divine judgment within the seven last plagues.
The heat is separating.
The heat is exposing.
The heat is purifying.
The heat is revealing what belongs and what does not belong.
The Refiner knows exactly what He is after.
HE SHALL SIT AS A REFINER
“And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver…”
— Malachi 3:3
The Refiner sits.
That speaks of control.
He is not panicking.
He is not experimenting.
He is not losing command of the process.
He sits over the fire until the purification is complete.
That is a beautiful picture of the sovereignty of God in the seven last plagues.
The heat may feel severe.
The process may expose painful things.
The old nature may resist.
But the Refiner remains seated.
He knows the end from the beginning.
HE SHALL PURIFY
“And he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver…”
— Malachi 3:3
Here is the destination of the fire:
PURIFICATION.
We must never stop at the heat.
We must ask where the heat is going.
If we stop at the scorching, we miss the purpose.
If we stop at the fire, we miss the Refiner.
If we stop at judgment, we miss purification.
The seven last plagues reveal God bringing an old world through judgments that expose and remove everything incapable of remaining beneath the government of Jesus Christ.
THE SAME FIRE CAN CONSUME AND PURIFY
“The trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire…”
— 1 Peter 1:7
Fire does two things depending upon what it touches.
It consumes what cannot endure.
It purifies what can.
This is the mystery of One Sun — Two Worlds expressed through fire.
The fire is one.
The materials differ.
The Light is one.
The realms differ.
The Sun is one.
The worlds differ.
The same appearing of Christ can become purification to the new creation and scorching exposure to the old.
THE WORD OF GOD IS LIKE FIRE
“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD…”
— Jeremiah 23:29
Now we see another dimension.
God’s Word is fire.
Truth itself carries heat.
Revelation itself carries intensity.
When the Word enters a false structure, the structure comes under pressure.
When Truth enters a lie, the lie begins to collapse.
When revelation enters mixture, mixture begins to separate.
This helps us understand the spiritual heat within the seven last plagues.
The heat is not necessarily something separate from revelation.
Truth itself can burn.
TRUTH BURNS THROUGH THE LIE
“Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.”
— Psalm 119:140
The Word is pure.
And purity is uncomfortable to mixture.
Truth is clear.
And clarity is uncomfortable to confusion.
Light is bright.
And brightness is uncomfortable to darkness.
This is why the lie can experience Truth as scorching.
The problem is not that Truth has become cruel.
The problem is that the lie cannot remain intact under the intensity of pure Light.
This is the heart of the fourth bowl of the seven last plagues.
WHEN TRUTH WALKS INTO THE ROOM, THE LIE STARTS SWEATING
“For whatsoever doth make manifest is light.”
— Ephesians 5:13
We can say it plainly.
When Truth walks into the room, the lie starts sweating.
The temperature did not change because Truth became evil.
The heat comes from exposure.
The lie is losing its covering.
The hidden thing is becoming visible.
The false government is being measured.
The old thought is being challenged.
The corruptible order is being confronted by incorruptible Truth.
That is great heat.
THE HEAT REACHES THE GOVERNING REALM
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
The heat is connected with the sun realm.
This is important.
The judgment is not merely exposing isolated actions.
It reaches government.
It reaches the source of influence.
It reaches the ruling light.
It reaches the thing that has been directing the realm beneath it.
In the individual, this can speak of the natural mind.
In religious systems, it can speak of ruling doctrines, authorities, and traditions.
In corporate humanity, it can speak of governments and institutions exercising influence over the lives of men.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues reaches the realm from which the heat flows.
CORRUPT GOVERNMENT BECOMES SCORCHING GOVERNMENT
“The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor…”
— Proverbs 28:16
False government eventually reveals its nature.
When corrupt authority feels threatened, control increases.
Fear increases.
Pressure increases.
Demands increase.
Oppression increases.
The old government attempts to preserve itself.
This helps us understand another side of the scorching sun.
The judgment of God can expose a corrupt government by allowing its oppressive character to become unmistakable.
What was hidden beneath religious language or institutional respectability becomes visible.
The sun begins to scorch.
PHARAOH INCREASED THE HEAT WHEN DELIVERANCE CAME NEAR
“Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein…”
— Exodus 5:9
What happened when Moses announced deliverance?
Pharaoh increased the burden.
The taskmasters became harsher.
The pressure increased.
The old government felt its authority being challenged.
And its response was more oppression.
That is a powerful pattern for understanding the seven last plagues.
When God begins delivering a people from an old order, that old order may become more severe before its power is finally broken.
The heat increases.
But the increase in heat does not mean Pharaoh is winning.
It can mean deliverance is getting closer.
THE TASKMASTER’S WHIP IS A SCORCHING SUN
“And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works…”
— Exodus 5:13
The old government rules through pressure.
It demands.
It threatens.
It burdens.
It controls.
This principle can manifest in many realms.
Religious government can scorch.
Political government can scorch.
Social government can scorch.
The natural mind can scorch a man inwardly through fear, condemnation, anxiety, and relentless accusation.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues exposes every form of government that rules contrary to the nature of Jesus Christ.
JESUS DOES NOT RULE LIKE THE TASKMASTER
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28
Now look at the contrast.
Pharaoh says:
More bricks.
Jesus says:
Come unto Me, and I will give you rest.
Pharaoh increases burdens.
Jesus removes burdens.
Pharaoh governs through fear.
Jesus governs through Truth.
Pharaoh enslaves.
Jesus liberates.
This is why the scorching sun realm must come under judgment in the seven last plagues.
A different government is being established.
MY YOKE IS EASY
“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
— Matthew 11:30
Jesus has a yoke.
That means Jesus has government.
He has authority.
He has Lordship.
But His government expresses His nature.
His yoke is easy.
His burden is light.
His rule brings Life.
His rule brings peace.
This is the government toward which the seven last plagues are moving creation.
The scorching government of Adam must give way to the righteous government of Christ.
BLASPHEMY IS THE REACTION OF THE OLD NATURE UNDER EXPOSURE
“And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God…”
— Revelation 16:9
The old nature does not immediately rejoice when its government is challenged.
It resists.
It complains.
It blames.
It becomes angry.
It blasphemes.
The heat exposes what was inside.
This is not evidence that God’s judgment has failed.
It is evidence that the hidden resistance has come into manifestation.
And what is manifested can now be dealt with.
THE CARNAL MIND IS ENMITY AGAINST GOD
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God…”
— Romans 8:7
The blasphemy of Revelation 16 should not surprise us.
Paul has already told us the nature of the carnal mind.
It is enmity against God.
So when the Sun of Truth shines upon that realm, what was inward begins to become outward.
The judgment of the seven last plagues exposes the enmity so that the government of the carnal mind can be brought to its end.
THE NATURAL MAN CANNOT KEEP THE THRONE
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
— Romans 8:6
There are two governments.
One produces death.
One produces Life and peace.
The natural mind cannot eternally govern God’s creation.
The government of death must give way to the government of Life.
This is why the sun realm comes beneath the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues.
The ruling mind is being addressed.
THE FIRE BURNS THE BONDS
“And these three men…fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.”
— Daniel 3:23
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego entered the fire bound.
But when the king looked again:
“I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire…”
— Daniel 3:25
Brother, there is a picture.
The fire did not destroy the men.
The fire destroyed what bound the men.
That is judgment in a redemptive light.
The fire can burn the ropes without burning God’s purpose.
The heat can destroy bondage while preserving the vessel.
That belongs in our understanding of the seven last plagues.
THERE IS ANOTHER MAN IN THE FIRE
“And the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
— Daniel 3:25
They were not alone in the fire.
Another Man was present.
And that is exactly where Jesus Christ must remain in our understanding of judgment.
He is not absent from the furnace.
He is present in it.
The seven last plagues are the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Even in the heat, we must look for the Son.
THE FIRE CAN BECOME THE PLACE OF DELIVERANCE
“Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.”
— Daniel 3:26
They came out free.
The furnace intended for their destruction became the place where their bonds disappeared.
What a revelation.
This is why we refuse to interpret the seven last plagues through condemnation alone.
God can use the very fire that exposes bondage to become the place where bondage is broken.
FERVENT HEAT ACCOMPANIES THE PASSING OF AN OLD WORLD
“The elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Peter uses the same kind of language.
FERVENT HEAT.
But again, the heat belongs to transition.
Something is being dissolved.
Something is passing away.
The old elements cannot remain.
The old arrangements cannot remain.
The old government cannot remain.
The heat of the seven last plagues participates in the passing of the old world.
THE HEAVENS BEING ON FIRE SHALL BE DISSOLVED
“The heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.”
— 2 Peter 3:12
Now Peter takes the fire into the heavens.
That brings us right back to the sun realm.
The governing order itself is being dissolved.
The old heaven does not possess eternal authority.
The old lights do not hold eternal government.
The fire reaches the heavens because the government of the old world must pass.
NEVERTHELESS
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth…”
— 2 Peter 3:13
There is one of the greatest words in Peter’s prophecy:
NEVERTHELESS.
The heavens are burning.
Nevertheless.
The elements are melting.
Nevertheless.
The old world is passing.
Nevertheless.
There is something beyond the heat.
New heavens.
A new earth.
Righteousness.
That is the direction of the seven last plagues.
THE PURPOSE OF THE HEAT IS NOT THE HEAT
“Wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
Righteousness is the destination.
The heat serves the transition.
The fire serves the purification.
The judgment serves the revelation.
The exposure serves the deliverance.
God is not building an eternal furnace.
He is establishing a world wherein righteousness dwells.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ARISES BEYOND THE HEAT
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
There He is again.
After burning.
After fire.
After judgment.
Healing.
The Sun who exposes the lie also heals the creation delivered from the lie.
This is the glory hidden within the seven last plagues.
The judgment has a redemptive destination.
GREAT HEAT CANNOT CHANGE THE NATURE OF GOD
“For I am the LORD, I change not…”
— Malachi 3:6
God does not become another God when the temperature rises.
Christ does not cease to be Savior.
Love does not cease to be Love.
Truth does not cease to be Truth.
The heat reveals the seriousness of what God is removing.
But the nature of God remains unchanged.
THE FIRE SERVES LOVE
“God is love.”
— 1 John 4:8
If God is Love and God is also a consuming Fire, then His fire must ultimately operate within the purpose of Love.
Love does not preserve the lie forever.
Love does not preserve bondage forever.
Love does not preserve corruption forever.
Love does not preserve death forever.
Love acts.
Love judges what destroys.
Love removes what enslaves.
Love purifies.
This is the tone of the seven last plagues.
THE SUN REALM MUST BE PURIFIED
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
The Fourth Bowl reaches government because government must be purified.
The ruling influences must be measured by Christ.
The ruling thoughts must be measured by Christ.
The ruling doctrines must be measured by Christ.
The ruling institutions must be measured by Christ.
The ruling spirits must be measured by Christ.
Everything occupying a sun position must come beneath the True Sun.
FALSE GOVERNMENT CANNOT SURVIVE THE FULL LIGHT OF CHRIST
“The darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.”
— 1 John 2:8
That is the final answer to scorching government.
THE TRUE LIGHT NOW SHINES.
The old sun cannot dominate forever.
The old heavens cannot rule forever.
The old mind cannot reign forever.
The old order cannot remain forever.
The true Light is shining.
GREAT HEAT IS THE CRISIS OF AN OLD WORLD
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
The heat is a crisis.
But it is the crisis of an order whose time is running out.
The lie is under pressure.
Darkness is under exposure.
False government is under judgment.
The old man is losing his throne.
The elements of the old world are melting.
And the seven last plagues are carrying the whole creation toward the government of another Man.
THE FIRE SHALL NOT HAVE THE FINAL WORD
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
Death will not remain.
Therefore, the fire cannot be God’s final destination.
The final word is Life.
The final word is Christ.
The final word is reconciliation.
The final word is righteous government.
The final word is God all in all.
THE HEAT IS WORKING TOWARD A NEW HEAVEN
“We look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
This is where we must leave the great heat.
Not staring eternally into the furnace.
Looking beyond it.
The old heavens are passing.
The old elements are melting.
The old government is being exposed.
The old sun realm is being judged.
But beyond the fervent heat stands the promise of God.
NEW HEAVENS.
A NEW EARTH.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
The seven last plagues do not terminate in scorching.
They participate in the removal of everything that cannot remain beneath the government of Jesus Christ.
The great heat makes the hidden condition visible.
The fire reveals what sort it is.
The Refiner separates the precious from the corruptible.
The bonds burn.
The old elements melt.
The old heavens pass.
And the Sun of Righteousness continues to arise.
When Truth walks into the room, the lie starts sweating.
But when the fire finishes its work, Truth is still standing.
Christ is still standing.
Life is still standing.
Righteousness is still standing.
And the government of Jesus Christ is still increasing.
That is the purpose hidden within the great heat of the seven last plagues.
CHAPTER EIGHT
THE ELEMENTS MELT WITH FERVENT HEAT
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES REVEAL AN OLD WORLD PASSING AWAY
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Peter saw something passing.
He saw heavens passing.
He saw elements melting.
He saw fervent heat.
He saw an old order being dissolved.
And that language belongs right in the middle of our study of the seven last plagues.
The Fourth Bowl brings us to the sun realm.
The sun speaks of rulership.
The heavens speak of government.
The great heat reveals an old order under divine pressure.
And now Peter gives us the vocabulary of transition.
Something is passing away.
That is the key.
The fire is not merely present to produce pain.
The heat belongs to the passing of an old world.
THE HEAVENS SHALL PASS AWAY
“The heavens shall pass away with a great noise…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Peter does not say the heavens shall remain forever in their present order.
They pass away.
This is important because the seven last plagues reveal realms that have been governed by an old order.
Old heavens.
Old lights.
Old governments.
Old structures.
Old influences.
Old authorities.
The Fourth Bowl reaches the sun because the governing order itself must come under judgment.
The old heavens cannot remain eternally above the earth.
Something new is being established.
THE ELEMENTS SHALL MELT
“And the elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
The word elements speaks to the basic principles and structures that make up an order.
The old world has elements.
It has governing principles.
It has systems of thought.
It has traditions.
It has patterns.
It has structures.
It has governments.
It has ways of seeing.
It has ways of ruling.
Those elements appear solid while the old world remains intact.
But under the heat of divine Truth, they begin to melt.
This is what the seven last plagues are revealing.
The old order is losing its solidity.
What looked permanent is revealed to be temporary.
What looked unshakable begins to dissolve.
THE HEAT REVEALS WHAT CAN AND CANNOT REMAIN
“Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.”
— Hebrews 12:26
The shaking reaches heaven.
That is government.
That is rulership.
That is the realm of influence.
The purpose of the shaking is not meaningless destruction.
The writer continues:
“That those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”
— Hebrews 12:27
There is the purpose.
SOMETHING REMAINS.
That is how we must understand the seven last plagues.
The shaking reveals what is temporary.
The fire reveals what is corruptible.
The heat reveals what belongs to the old world.
And what cannot remain is removed.
GOD IS REMOVING WHAT CAN BE SHAKEN
“And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken…”
— Hebrews 12:27
God removes what cannot remain in His eternal order.
That does not mean His purpose is failing.
It means His purpose is being clarified.
The old world cannot be made eternal simply because men are comfortable in it.
The old heavens cannot remain simply because men are accustomed to their light.
The old government cannot remain simply because it has ruled for a long time.
The seven last plagues reveal God shaking every realm until only that which agrees with His eternal purpose remains.
WE RECEIVE A KINGDOM WHICH CANNOT BE MOVED
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved…”
— Hebrews 12:28
There is the contrast.
One order can be shaken.
Another cannot.
One world passes.
Another remains.
One government dissolves.
Another increases without end.
One kingdom belongs to Adam.
Another belongs to Jesus Christ.
This is the movement hidden within the seven last plagues.
The old is shaken because the unshakable kingdom is being revealed.
THE FIRE AND THE KINGDOM BELONG TO THE SAME PURPOSE
“For our God is a consuming fire.”
— Hebrews 12:29
Notice where this verse appears.
It comes immediately after the revelation of the unshakable kingdom.
That is important.
The consuming Fire is not disconnected from the kingdom.
The Fire serves the kingdom.
The Fire removes what cannot remain.
The Fire exposes what is temporary.
The Fire purifies what belongs.
The Fire brings the distinction into manifestation.
This is why the seven last plagues can contain judgment while still moving toward righteous government.
PETER SAW FERVENT HEAT
“The elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Peter’s phrase sounds almost like an echo of Revelation 16.
GREAT HEAT.
FERVENT HEAT.
The Fourth Bowl reveals men scorched with great heat.
Peter reveals elements melting with fervent heat.
Both passages direct our attention to an old order under intense divine dealing.
The heat is transitional.
Something is being brought to an end.
Something is losing its form.
Something that once governed is being dissolved.
THE OLD WORLD HAS A GOVERNING STRUCTURE
“Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world…”
— Ephesians 2:2
Paul speaks of the course of this world.
The old world has a course.
It has a direction.
It has a flow.
It has influences.
It has governing principles.
People are carried by them.
They think according to them.
They act according to them.
They accept them as normal.
But the revelation of Jesus Christ interrupts the course of the old world.
That is why the seven last plagues reach government.
God is not merely correcting isolated behavior.
He is bringing an entire course under judgment.
THE RUDIMENTS OF THE WORLD CANNOT GOVERN FOREVER
“Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world…”
— Colossians 2:20
Paul speaks of the rudiments, or basic elements, of the world.
Again we find the language of foundational principles.
These elements govern people while they remain beneath the old order.
But in Christ there is a death to that world.
Something new has appeared.
This gives Peter’s language even greater force.
The elements melt because they belong to an order that has no eternal future in Jesus Christ.
WE WERE ONCE IN BONDAGE UNDER THE ELEMENTS OF THE WORLD
“Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.”
— Galatians 4:3
Paul connects the elements with bondage.
That is critical.
The old elements are not neutral.
They can become governing principles that hold men beneath an immature and earthly order.
The seven last plagues reveal God’s dealings with those elements.
The heat melts what held men.
The fire dissolves what appeared permanent.
The old government loses its hold.
GOD DOES NOT MELT THE ELEMENTS TO LEAVE CREATION EMPTY
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth…”
— 2 Peter 3:13
This is the great balance.
Old heavens pass.
But there are new heavens.
Old elements melt.
But there is a new order.
Old earth is judged.
But there is a new earth.
God does not strip creation and leave nothing.
He replaces the corruptible order with the righteous order of Jesus Christ.
That is the movement of the seven last plagues.
NEVERTHELESS
“Nevertheless we…”
— 2 Peter 3:13
That word carries enormous weight.
Peter has just spoken about fire.
Heat.
Dissolution.
Passing away.
And then:
NEVERTHELESS.
Peter refuses to end in destruction.
He looks beyond the fire.
He looks beyond the melting.
He looks beyond the collapse of the old order.
And what does he see?
NEW HEAVENS.
A NEW EARTH.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
That is the tone we must preserve in the seven last plagues.
THE NEW HEAVENS ARE A NEW GOVERNMENT
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth…”
— Isaiah 65:17
If the heavens speak of rulership, then new heavens speak of new government.
A new ruling order.
A new source of light.
A new authority.
A new realm of influence.
A new administration.
The old sun realm loses dominion.
The Sun of Righteousness arises.
The new heavens are governed by another Man.
THE SECOND MAN IS THE LORD FROM HEAVEN
“The second man is the Lord from heaven.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:47
The new heavens belong to the heavenly Man.
Jesus Christ is not merely repairing Adam’s world.
He is Head of a new creation.
He brings another government.
Another mind.
Another Spirit.
Another nature.
Another order.
This is why the seven last plagues cannot be separated from the revelation of the Second Man.
The old elements melt because Christ has appeared.
OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY
“Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
Paul uses the same language of passing.
Old things pass.
New things appear.
This happens personally.
It happens corporately.
It happens governmentally.
It happens within the purpose of God for creation.
The seven last plagues belong to that great movement from old to new.
THE OLD HEAVEN IS A REALM OF OLD GOVERNMENT
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away…”
— Revelation 21:1
John agrees with Peter.
The first heaven passes.
The first earth passes.
A new heaven appears.
A new earth appears.
The book of Revelation itself carries us beyond the seven last plagues into the result of the transition.
The old government is not eternal.
The new government is.
THE OLD LIGHTS LOSE THEIR PLACE
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it…”
— Revelation 21:23
The old lights are no longer needed.
Why?
Because a greater Light has appeared.
This is where the Fourth Bowl ultimately points us.
The bowl is poured upon the sun.
The old sun realm comes under judgment.
And at the end of Revelation, the city has no need of lesser light.
THE GLORY OF GOD LIGHTENS THE CITY
“For the glory of God did lighten it…”
— Revelation 21:23
The new heaven is not dark.
The new earth is not without light.
The old lights pass because a greater glory fills the realm.
The seven last plagues are not leading to darkness.
They are leading to a world filled with the glory of God.
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT
“And the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
There is the final Sun.
Jesus Christ.
The Lamb.
The Light.
The government of God.
The true source of illumination.
The old heavens pass because the Lamb fills the new.
The old sun loses authority because the true Light has appeared.
THERE SHALL BE NO NIGHT THERE
“And there shall be no night there…”
— Revelation 22:5
Darkness does not get the final word.
Night does not get the final word.
Judgment does not get the final word.
Heat does not get the final word.
Light does.
The seven last plagues move creation through judgment toward a world where darkness has lost its place.
THEY NEED NO LIGHT OF THE SUN
“And they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light…”
— Revelation 22:5
Genesis begins with a created sun appointed to rule.
Revelation ends with God Himself giving Light.
What a journey.
From created government to divine government.
From lesser light to ultimate Light.
From temporary suns to the everlasting presence of God.
This is the great arc behind the seven last plagues.
THEY SHALL REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER
“And they shall reign for ever and ever.”
— Revelation 22:5
There is government again.
The Bible begins with lights appointed to rule.
It ends with a people reigning in the Light of God.
The entire revelation has been governmental from beginning to end.
The Fourth Bowl touches government.
The old elements melt.
The old heavens pass.
The new heavens appear.
And a new people reign beneath the Light of the Lamb.
THE OLD SUN REALM IS NOT GOD’S FINAL GOVERNMENT
“The first heaven and the first earth were passed away…”
— Revelation 21:1
The Fourth Bowl teaches us not to mistake a temporary governing order for an eternal one.
The old realm may look strong.
The old lights may appear permanent.
The old institutions may seem immovable.
The old mind may appear deeply entrenched.
But everything belonging to the first world has an appointed end.
The seven last plagues reveal that end progressively.
FERVENT HEAT IS THE LANGUAGE OF TRANSITION
“The elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
We must say this clearly.
The heat is not the destination.
The melting is not the destination.
The passing away is not the destination.
They are the language of transition.
An old government is losing its form.
A new government is being revealed.
An old world is passing.
A new world is appearing.
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE DESTINATION
“New heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
There is Peter’s final word.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Not eternal confusion.
Not eternal mixture.
Not eternal darkness.
Not eternal Adam.
Not eternal death.
Righteousness.
That is where the seven last plagues are taking us.
The Sun of Righteousness arises over a world wherein righteousness dwells.
THE OLD MAN IS PART OF THE PASSING ORDER
“Seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds…”
— Colossians 3:9
The transition is inward as well.
The old man is put off.
The old mind is displaced.
The old government loses authority.
The old identity passes.
The same principle operating in the heavens operates within man.
The seven last plagues reveal both the corporate and inward dealings of God.
THE NEW MAN IS RENEWED IN KNOWLEDGE
“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.”
— Colossians 3:10
The new world has a new mind.
A new knowledge.
A new image.
A new government.
The new heavens are not merely external arrangements.
They are the spiritual government of Christ coming into manifestation within a people.
CHRIST MUST FILL ALL THINGS
“That he might fill all things.”
— Ephesians 4:10
Here is the larger purpose.
Christ fills all things.
That leaves no eternal territory for the lie.
No eternal realm for darkness.
No eternal government for Adam.
The seven last plagues are part of the revelation through which everything contrary to Christ is exposed and removed so that Christ may fill all things.
ALL THINGS ARE GATHERED TOGETHER IN CHRIST
“That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ…”
— Ephesians 1:10
There is the destination of the ages.
ALL THINGS IN CHRIST.
This is greater than destruction.
This is government.
This is reconciliation.
This is divine order.
This is fullness.
The old elements melt because they cannot participate in this final unity outside of Christ.
EVERY RULE AND EVERY AUTHORITY MUST COME TO AN END
“Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God… when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:24
There is our sun realm again.
Rule.
Authority.
Power.
Every government contrary to the final purpose of God must be put down.
That is exactly why the seven last plagues reach the sun.
The governing realm cannot remain untouched.
HE MUST REIGN
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
The old elements melt because Christ must reign.
The old heavens pass because Christ must reign.
The old government loses its throne because Christ must reign.
The lie loses its refuge because Christ must reign.
Death itself must be destroyed because Christ must reign.
The seven last plagues belong to the unstoppable increase of that government.
THE LAST ENEMY IS DEATH
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
If death is destroyed, then the old world truly has no eternal future.
Its greatest power is removed.
Its final enemy is defeated.
Life remains.
Christ remains.
The kingdom remains.
GOD SHALL BE ALL IN ALL
“That God may be all in all.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:28
There is the final horizon.
Not two eternal worlds.
Not two eternal governments.
Not two eternal heavens.
Not two eternal suns.
GOD ALL IN ALL.
The old elements melt.
The old heavens pass.
The old government is dissolved.
Why?
Because God’s eternal purpose is moving toward fullness.
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES ARE NOT THE END OF THE STORY
“Nevertheless we… look for new heavens and a new earth…”
— 2 Peter 3:13
This must remain clear.
The seven last plagues are not God’s final picture of creation.
They are part of the transition.
Beyond the bowls stands the new heaven.
Beyond the heat stands righteousness.
Beyond the old sun stands the Lamb.
Beyond the old government stands the kingdom of God.
THE ELEMENTS MELT BECAUSE TRUTH HAS WALKED INTO THE ROOM
“The elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
When Truth appears, false structures begin to lose their form.
When Light shines, darkness begins to disappear.
When Christ is revealed, Adam’s government begins to pass.
When the Sun of Righteousness arises, the old heavens cannot remain unchanged.
This is the fervent heat.
Truth has entered the old world.
And the old world is melting under the revelation.
NEW HEAVENS ARE RISING
“Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth…”
— Isaiah 65:17
God is not merely tearing down.
He is creating.
He is establishing.
He is revealing.
He is bringing forth a new order.
This is the hope contained within the seven last plagues.
The old heavens pass because new heavens are rising.
A WORLD WHEREIN DWELLS RIGHTEOUSNESS
“Wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
That phrase is the heartbeat of this chapter.
The fervent heat is not God’s eternal destination.
Righteousness is.
The old world melts.
The old elements dissolve.
The old government passes.
And God’s purpose emerges clearer than ever.
A new heaven.
A new earth.
A new government.
A new creation.
A world wherein righteousness dwells.
That is where the seven last plagues are taking us.
And over that new world rises the Sun of Righteousness, while the Lamb Himself becomes its everlasting Light.
CHAPTER NINE
THE WOMAN IN THE WILDERNESS
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES ARE MINISTERED FROM A HIGHER REALM
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
By the time we arrive at the ministry represented in the seven last plagues, the man-child has already been born.
The birth has taken place.
The man-child has been caught up unto God and to His throne.
The overcomers have entered a higher realm of government.
The priesthood of the throne has been established.
And the woman has moved into another phase of God’s purpose.
She is no longer standing only in the travail that produced the man-child.
She has gone into the wilderness.
This distinction is essential to our understanding of the seven last plagues.
The judgments ministered through the bowls are not simply events happening independently somewhere in the world.
They proceed from a heavenly realm.
They proceed through a priesthood.
They proceed through those who have been caught up into the government of God.
And one of the primary realms being ministered to is the realm of the woman in the wilderness.
THE MAN-CHILD HAS ALREADY BEEN BORN
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron…”
— Revelation 12:5
The man-child is not waiting to be born during the Fourth Bowl.
He has already been brought forth.
This is important because the sequence of Revelation reveals different administrations.
First there is the woman.
Then there is travail.
Then there is birth.
Then the man-child is caught up unto God and His throne.
Then the woman enters the wilderness.
Therefore, when the seven last plagues are ministered, we must understand them in the light of a priesthood that has already entered the throne realm.
The man-child represents the overcomers.
The mature sons.
The priesthood that has moved beyond the wilderness realm into governmental ministry.
They are no longer merely being ministered to.
They are becoming ministers of God’s judgments.
THE MAN-CHILD IS CAUGHT UP TO THE THRONE
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
The throne speaks of government.
The throne speaks of authority.
The throne speaks of administration.
The throne speaks of a higher order of ministry.
The man-child does not remain in the same realm from which he was born.
He is caught up.
That means there is a transition in ministry.
The one who was brought forth from the woman now ministers from a higher realm back toward the realm from which he came.
This becomes a major key for understanding the seven last plagues.
The bowls come out of the temple.
They proceed from the heavenly order of God.
They are administered from above.
And they are directed into the realms below for purification, correction, exposure, and preparation.
THE WOMAN HAS GONE INTO THE WILDERNESS
“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God…”
— Revelation 12:6
The woman has not disappeared from God’s purpose.
She has entered the wilderness.
And notice carefully:
God prepared the place.
The wilderness is not evidence that God has abandoned her.
It is part of her preparation.
It is a realm where she is preserved.
A realm where she is fed.
A realm where she is dealt with.
A realm where mixture can be exposed.
A realm where the old governmental influences can be broken.
A realm where she can be prepared for what lies ahead.
This is where the seven last plagues begin to take on tremendous meaning.
The bowls are not merely destroying an outside world.
They are ministering judgment into realms where God’s own people still need purification.
GOD’S PEOPLE CAN STILL BE IN A REALM OF MIXTURE
“Come out of her, my people…”
— Revelation 18:4
God says:
“MY PEOPLE.”
Yet He tells them to come out.
That means God’s people can still be located within a realm God is judging.
They belong to Him.
But everything around them does not yet reflect Him.
They are His people.
But mixture remains.
They are His people.
But Babylonian influences remain.
They are His people.
But governing lights from the old heavens can still affect them.
This is why the seven last plagues are ministry.
They reveal what remains so God’s people can be delivered from it.
JUDGMENT BEGINS AT THE HOUSE OF GOD
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God…”
— 1 Peter 4:17
Divine judgment is not first a weapon directed at somebody else.
It begins among God’s people.
Why?
Because judgment reveals.
Judgment purifies.
Judgment separates.
Judgment prepares.
The woman in the wilderness must be ministered to.
She has brought forth the man-child, but that does not mean every dimension of mixture within her has already been removed.
The overcomers have gone ahead.
Now they minister back.
This is part of the work represented in the seven last plagues.
THE OVERCOMERS MINISTER FROM THE THRONE REALM
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne…”
— Revelation 3:21
The overcomers are brought into governmental ministry.
They sit with Christ in His throne.
They participate in His administration.
They minister out of His nature.
They minister out of His Light.
They minister out of His Truth.
They minister out of His judgment.
This does not mean they minister condemnation.
They minister revelation.
They minister the Light that exposes the lie.
They minister the fire that purifies.
They minister the judgments that break old governmental powers.
And that brings us directly back to the seven last plagues.
THE SEVEN ANGELS COME OUT OF THE TEMPLE
“And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues…”
— Revelation 15:6
The bowls come from the temple realm.
They do not originate in Adam.
They do not originate in Babylon.
They do not originate in the beast.
They proceed from God’s sanctuary.
They are heavenly judgments.
They are priestly judgments.
They are governmental judgments.
They are the ministry of divine Truth being poured into the realms below.
The seven last plagues therefore belong to a heavenly administration.
THE BOWLS ARE MINISTRY TO THE REALMS BELOW
“Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.”
— Revelation 16:1
The command comes from the temple.
The bowls move outward.
The administration moves from heaven toward earth.
This is the same governmental pattern established from Genesis.
Heaven rules.
Earth receives.
But now the heavenly realm is no longer governed by the old lights.
A new priesthood is ministering.
A new government has appeared.
And the woman in the wilderness becomes one of the realms receiving that ministry.
THE WOMAN MUST BE FED IN THE WILDERNESS
“That they should feed her there…”
— Revelation 12:6
The woman does not enter the wilderness to starve.
She enters to be fed.
That feeding is spiritual.
It is revelation.
It is Truth.
It is the Word of God.
It is ministry appropriate to her condition.
And sometimes the Word that feeds also judges.
Sometimes Truth comforts.
Sometimes Truth exposes.
Sometimes Truth heals.
Sometimes Truth burns away a lie.
The same ministry can nourish the new while exposing the old.
That is precisely the principle we have been seeing throughout the seven last plagues.
THE WOMAN IS NO LONGER IN THE SAME REALM AS THE MAN-CHILD
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
The distinction in realms matters.
The man-child is at the throne.
The woman is in the wilderness.
One has entered governmental fullness.
The other is still being prepared.
One ministers.
The other receives ministry.
One has been caught up.
The other is being nourished in a place prepared by God.
This does not make the woman rejected.
It reveals divine order.
There are firstfruits.
There are those who go before.
There are those who mature first and then minister to those coming behind.
This is the order we must preserve in the seven last plagues.
THE FIRSTFRUITS MINISTER TO THE REST OF THE HARVEST
“These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.”
— Revelation 14:4
Firstfruits are not the whole harvest.
They are the beginning.
They ripen first.
They are gathered first.
And what God does in the firstfruits becomes a promise of what He intends for the whole harvest.
The man-child priesthood is a firstfruits company.
They enter the throne realm first.
Then they minister outward.
Their calling is not to escape creation.
Their calling is to serve creation.
Their maturity becomes ministry.
THE OVERCOMERS DO NOT LEAVE THE WOMAN BEHIND FOREVER
“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
— Revelation 5:10
Kings and priests are ministers.
Priests serve.
Kings govern.
The overcomer company does not receive authority merely for personal exaltation.
They receive authority for ministry.
The woman needs ministry.
The church realm needs ministry.
The nations need ministry.
Creation needs ministry.
The seven last plagues reveal one dimension of that priestly governmental ministry.
THE FOURTH BOWL MINISTERS TO THE SUN REALM
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
Now we can locate the Fourth Bowl within this larger administration.
The priesthood ministers to the sun realm.
That means the governing lights within the wilderness realm are being dealt with.
The authorities.
The doctrines.
The traditions.
The governing minds.
The spiritual influences.
The religious suns that have ruled over God’s people.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues brings those governing lights under divine judgment.
THE WOMAN MUST BE FREED FROM FALSE GOVERNING LIGHTS
“If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”
— Matthew 6:23
Not every light governing God’s people is the Light of Christ.
A false light can appear spiritual.
A tradition can appear holy.
A religious authority can appear unquestionable.
A doctrine can become a governing sun over a people.
But the woman must be prepared.
The false lights must be exposed.
This is part of the ministry of the seven last plagues.
The overcomers minister Truth into those governing realms.
THE SUN REALM OF RELIGION CAN SCORCH
“And power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.”
— Revelation 16:8
Religious government can become scorching government.
When authority is rooted in fear, control, condemnation, law, and mixture, people feel the heat.
They are burdened.
They are threatened.
They are controlled.
They are told not to question.
They are made afraid to leave.
They are scorched beneath governing lights that claim divine authority but do not express the nature of Christ.
The Fourth Bowl exposes this.
THE JUDGMENT EXPOSES THE GOVERNING SYSTEM
“For whatsoever doth make manifest is light.”
— Ephesians 5:13
The bowl reveals.
The heat manifests.
What seemed holy is tested.
What seemed authoritative is measured.
What seemed heavenly is exposed.
This is not because God is against His people.
It is because He is preparing His people.
The seven last plagues uncover what must be removed from the woman’s realm.
THE WOMAN IS BEING PREPARED FOR SOMETHING GREATER
“Let us be glad and rejoice… for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”
— Revelation 19:7
There is a preparation.
The bride makes herself ready.
That readiness does not happen independently of divine dealing.
Everything contrary to the Lamb must be exposed.
Everything belonging to Babylon must be removed.
Every false covering must fall.
Every governing light that contradicts Jesus Christ must be judged.
The woman in the wilderness is moving toward bridal preparation.
The ministry of the seven last plagues contributes to that preparation.
THE WOMAN MUST COME OUT OF BABYLONIAN MIXTURE
“Come out of her, my people…”
— Revelation 18:4
This is not spoken to strangers.
It is spoken to God’s people.
There is a coming out.
A separation.
A purification.
A transition.
The woman cannot remain forever in mixture and become the bride in fullness.
Something must happen.
Truth must be ministered.
Judgment must reveal.
The lie must lose its covering.
Babylon must lose its hold.
THE OVERCOMERS MINISTER DELIVERANCE, NOT ACCUSATION
“God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself… and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:19
The priesthood of Christ does not minister condemnation.
It ministers reconciliation.
That must govern our understanding of the seven last plagues.
The bowls are not a ministry of personal accusation against Joe, Peter, or Mike.
They reveal realms.
They expose systems.
They judge states of being.
They uncover false governments.
They liberate people from what has held them.
The ministry comes from Christ.
Therefore, it must express Christ.
THE PRIESTHOOD CARRIES THE FIRE OF GOD
“Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire.”
— Psalm 104:4
God’s ministers can be described as flaming fire.
Why?
Because Truth burns.
Revelation burns.
Purity burns.
The Word burns.
The ministry of the overcomers carries the fire of God into realms of mixture.
But this is the fire of purification.
The fire of Truth.
The fire of reconciliation.
The fire that destroys bondage.
THE FIRE PREPARES RATHER THAN ABANDONS
“He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver…”
— Malachi 3:3
The Refiner stays with the process.
He does not abandon the silver in the furnace.
He watches.
He purifies.
He completes His work.
That is how the man-child ministry must be understood.
The priesthood ministers the judgments of God because God’s people are valuable.
The woman is being prepared.
She is not being discarded.
THE WOMAN IS PRESERVED IN THE WILDERNESS
“Where she hath a place prepared of God…”
— Revelation 12:6
Even while judgment is operating, preservation is operating.
God has a place for her.
God feeds her.
God keeps her.
God works in her.
The wilderness is not her final identity.
It is a place of transition.
And the seven last plagues participate in that transition by judging the realms that must no longer govern her.
THE WOMAN MUST LEARN ANOTHER GOVERNMENT
“For the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
— Isaiah 2:3
A new government ministers to her.
Not the government of Babylon.
Not the government of the beast.
Not the government of the natural mind.
The government of Zion.
The Word of the Lord.
The Truth of Jesus Christ.
The man-child ministry comes from the throne realm carrying that higher order.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS MINISTERS HEALING TO HER
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
Here again we see One Sun — Two Worlds.
The false sun realm is judged.
The true Sun ministers healing.
The same revelation that exposes false government brings healing to those being delivered from it.
This is what the woman needs in the wilderness.
Not merely exposure.
Healing.
Not merely judgment.
Restoration.
Not merely the removal of false government.
The establishment of Christ’s government.
THE PRIESTHOOD MINISTERS CHRIST, NOT ITSELF
“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord…”
— 2 Corinthians 4:5
The overcomers are not the final Light.
Christ is.
The priesthood does not establish its own sun realm.
It ministers the Sun of Righteousness.
It does not create another religious hierarchy.
It ministers Jesus Christ.
It does not replace one Babylon with another Babylon.
It serves the transition from Babylon into the government of the Lamb.
That is the spirit of the seven last plagues.
THE WOMAN IS BEING BROUGHT FROM PENTECOST TOWARD FULLNESS
“Till we all come… unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:13
The woman represents a genuine people of God.
She has light.
She has glory.
She has received the Spirit.
She has brought forth something out of her own womb.
But she is not yet at the end of God’s purpose.
There is fullness ahead.
There is maturation ahead.
There is bridal preparation ahead.
There is a higher order of government ahead.
The seven last plagues minister into that transition.
THE FIRSTFRUITS GO FIRST SO THEY CAN SERVE THE REST
“These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.”
— Revelation 14:4
Firstfruits are not evidence that God has forgotten the rest.
They are evidence that harvest has begun.
The man-child goes first.
The overcomers enter the throne first.
The priesthood matures first.
Then ministry flows outward.
The woman benefits from what has first been established in the sons.
THE THRONE MINISTERS TO THE WILDERNESS
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
This is the relationship we must see.
THRONE → WILDERNESS.
Government ministers to preparation.
Maturity ministers to immaturity.
Fullness ministers to that which is still in part.
The firstfruits minister to the harvest.
The sons minister to the woman.
And the bowls are part of that ministry.
THE FOURTH BOWL BREAKS FALSE SUN GOVERNMENT OVER THE WOMAN
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
The sun realm that governs the woman must be purified.
Every false light must be revealed.
Every oppressive authority must be exposed.
Every governing doctrine born of the natural mind must come under judgment.
Every religious sun that scorches instead of heals must be measured against the Sun of Righteousness.
This is the work of the Fourth Bowl in the seven last plagues.
THE HEAT REVEALS WHAT MUST BE REMOVED
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
The heat makes the old government visible.
That which was hidden beneath respectable forms becomes manifest.
The pressure exposes the ruler.
The false sun reveals its nature.
This is necessary if the woman is to be freed.
THE WOMAN CANNOT BECOME THE BRIDE UNDER THE OLD SUN
“His wife hath made herself ready.”
— Revelation 19:7
Preparation requires a change of government.
The woman cannot remain beneath Babylonian light and fully manifest the bride.
She must come under the Light of the Lamb.
She must be washed.
Purified.
Separated.
Prepared.
The ministry of the seven last plagues helps accomplish that work.
THE BRIDE IS CLOTHED DIFFERENTLY
“And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white…”
— Revelation 19:8
The final clothing is purity.
Righteousness.
Cleanliness.
No mixture.
The woman who has passed through wilderness preparation emerges ready for another manifestation.
The judgments did not destroy God’s purpose for her.
They prepared her.
THE WILDERNESS IS NOT THE FINAL DESTINATION
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
— Revelation 21:2
Preparation has a destination.
Bride.
City.
Government.
Glory.
The woman is not destined to remain forever in the wilderness.
She is moving toward fullness.
That is why the ministry from the throne matters.
THE LAMB BECOMES THE GOVERNING LIGHT OF THE BRIDE
“And the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
At the end, the bride does not live beneath false suns.
She lives in the Light of the Lamb.
The government is Christ.
The illumination is Christ.
The authority is Christ.
The Life is Christ.
This is the destination toward which the seven last plagues are moving her.
THE MAN-CHILD MINISTRY PREPARES THE WOMAN FOR THE LAMB
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
The man-child was born first.
The man-child was caught up first.
The overcomers enter governmental ministry first.
But their calling does not end at the throne.
From the throne comes ministry.
From the temple come the bowls.
From the higher realm comes Truth.
And that Truth ministers to the wilderness realm of the woman.
The sons do not abandon her.
They serve her preparation.
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES ARE PRIESTLY MINISTRY
“And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues…”
— Revelation 15:6
This is where Chapter Nine must land.
The seven last plagues are not merely disasters.
They are ministry from the temple.
They proceed from the heavenly priesthood.
They reveal Jesus Christ.
They expose mixture.
They judge false government.
They purify the church realm.
They prepare the woman.
And through that ministry the woman is progressively brought out from beneath the governing lights of the old world and under the pure government of Jesus Christ.
The man-child has already been born.
The overcomers have already entered the throne realm.
The woman has already entered the wilderness.
Now the ministry flows back toward her.
The throne ministers to the wilderness.
The mature minister to those being matured.
The firstfruits minister to the harvest.
The priesthood ministers the bowls.
And the Fourth Bowl reaches the sun realm because the woman cannot be fully prepared for the Lamb while she remains beneath governing lights that belong to the old heavens.
The false sun must be exposed.
The scorching government must be judged.
The old authority must lose its hold.
And the Sun of Righteousness must arise over her with healing in His wings.
This is not the abandonment of the woman.
It is her preparation.
This is not condemnation.
It is purification.
This is not the end of her story.
It is the ministry that prepares her for fullness.
And ultimately, for the glorious day when the Lamb Himself becomes her everlasting Light.
CHAPTER TEN
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES ARE MOVING CREATION TOWARD A FINAL GOVERNMENT
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
This is where the entire revelation of the sun realm finally arrives.
Genesis began with lights appointed to rule.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues brought judgment upon the sun.
Peter showed us old heavens passing away and elements melting with fervent heat.
The woman entered the wilderness beneath the ministry of a higher priesthood.
The old governing lights were exposed.
And now John sees a city where the old order of illumination is no longer needed.
Why?
Because the Lamb is the Light thereof.
This is not the abolition of government.
It is the perfection of government.
This is not the removal of all light.
It is the manifestation of the True Light.
This is not the end of rulership.
It is the establishment of righteous rulership in Jesus Christ.
The seven last plagues are not God’s final picture.
They are part of the transition toward this glorious order.
GENESIS BEGAN WITH A LIGHT APPOINTED TO RULE
“And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day…”
— Genesis 1:16
The Bible begins with government.
The greater light rules.
The lesser light rules.
The stars occupy the heavens.
Light governs the realm beneath.
This was the first great pattern we established for understanding the seven last plagues.
The sun realm is governmental.
But the created sun was only a picture.
It pointed toward something greater.
Every natural symbol eventually leads us toward spiritual reality.
And the highest reality is Jesus Christ.
THE CREATED SUN WAS NEVER THE FINAL LIGHT
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield…”
— Psalm 84:11
The natural sun could never be the ultimate source.
God Himself is a Sun.
The physical creation points toward the Creator.
The visible points toward the invisible.
The natural points toward the spiritual.
The lesser points toward the greater.
This is why the seven last plagues can bring judgment upon a sun realm without attacking the eternal Light of God.
The old sun is not the True Sun.
The old government is not the final government.
The old heaven is not the eternal heaven.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE TRUE LIGHT
“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
— John 1:9
John calls Jesus Christ:
THE TRUE LIGHT.
Not one light among many.
Not one government among many.
Not one authority among many.
The True Light.
Every lesser light must eventually be measured against Him.
Every ruling sun must eventually be measured against Him.
Every government must eventually be brought beneath Him.
The seven last plagues reveal that process of exposure.
THE LIGHT OF CHRIST IS THE LIGHT OF LIFE
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
— John 1:4
The Light is not merely illumination.
It is Life.
That tells us what kind of government Jesus Christ brings.
His government gives Life.
His government heals.
His government frees.
His government restores.
His government reconciles.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues judges every sun realm that produces the opposite.
THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS ARISES
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
The true Sun does not arise merely with authority.
He arises with healing.
That one verse tells us the nature of Christ’s government.
Righteousness.
Healing.
Life.
Restoration.
This is the government toward which the seven last plagues are moving the creation.
THE OLD SUN REALM MUST COME UNDER JUDGMENT
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
The bowl reaches the sun because the old government cannot remain untouched.
Every ruling principle of Adam must be exposed.
Every false light must be revealed.
Every oppressive authority must be judged.
Every governing thought contrary to Christ must be brought down.
The seven last plagues reach the sun realm because Jesus Christ will not eternally share government with the old creation.
THE OLD HEAVENS PASS AWAY
“The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Peter saw the dissolution of the old.
That is not the destruction of God’s eternal purpose.
It is the removal of what cannot remain.
The old elements melt.
The old heavens pass.
The old government loses its place.
The seven last plagues belong to that transition.
NEW HEAVENS APPEAR
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
There is the answer to the old heavens.
NEW HEAVENS.
There is the answer to the old earth.
A NEW EARTH.
There is the answer to corruption.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
This is the destination of the seven last plagues.
Not emptiness.
Not chaos.
Not darkness.
New heavens.
New earth.
Righteousness.
THE NEW HEAVENS HAVE A NEW GOVERNMENT
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7
A new heaven means a new ruling order.
That order belongs to Christ.
His government increases.
His peace increases.
His authority increases.
His kingdom fills the realm.
The old sun decreases.
The True Sun increases.
The old order passes.
The new order remains.
THE MAN-CHILD HAS ENTERED THE THRONE REALM
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
The throne is part of the new government.
The man-child has already entered it.
The overcomers participate in the administration of Christ.
They minister from the heavenly realm.
They do not become the Light independently.
They serve the Light.
They do not establish their own kingdom.
They serve the kingdom of the Lamb.
The bowls of the seven last plagues proceed from this higher administration.
THE THRONE MINISTERS BACK TO THE WOMAN
“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God…”
— Revelation 12:6
The woman is still being prepared.
The throne ministers back into her realm.
Truth comes.
Judgment comes.
Purification comes.
False governing lights are exposed.
The old sun realm loses its hold.
This is part of how the seven last plagues serve bridal preparation.
THE WOMAN IS BEING PREPARED FOR THE LAMB
“For the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”
— Revelation 19:7
The wilderness is not the end.
Preparation is moving toward marriage.
The woman is being brought toward bridal fullness.
The old government must be removed because the bride belongs to the Lamb.
She cannot remain under Babylonian suns.
She cannot remain governed by mixture.
She must come fully under the Light of Christ.
THE BRIDE IS CLOTHED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS
“And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white…”
— Revelation 19:8
The old coverings are gone.
The false coverings are gone.
The scorched realm is being replaced by purity.
The bride is clothed differently.
Righteousness becomes her garment.
This is the fruit of the judgments administered through the seven last plagues.
THE NEW JERUSALEM DESCENDS FROM THE NEW HEAVENS
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven…”
— Revelation 21:2
The new government descends.
The heavenly order reaches the earth.
The city comes from God.
It does not rise from Babylon.
It does not come from Adam.
It does not come from the beast.
It comes from God.
This is the government the old sun realm could never produce.
THE CITY IS PREPARED AS A BRIDE
“Prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
— Revelation 21:2
The woman in preparation becomes the bride in glory.
The wilderness work has a destination.
The judgments have a destination.
The purification has a destination.
The seven last plagues are not the conclusion.
The bride is.
GOD DWELLS WITH MEN
“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them…”
— Revelation 21:3
This is the true destination of divine judgment.
God with men.
Not God eternally separated from men.
Not God eternally tormenting men.
God dwelling with men.
This is the larger redemptive horizon of the seven last plagues.
GOD WIPES AWAY THE TEARS
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes…”
— Revelation 21:4
The great heat does not have the final word.
The tears are wiped away.
The pain does not have the final word.
The sorrow does not have the final word.
The plague does not have the final word.
God does.
DEATH LOSES ITS PLACE
“And there shall be no more death…”
— Revelation 21:4
Death is not preserved forever.
Death is removed.
That agrees with Paul’s declaration:
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
The seven last plagues must therefore serve a purpose greater than death.
They serve the triumph of Life.
THE OLD ORDER PASSES
“For the former things are passed away.”
— Revelation 21:4
There it is again.
Passing away.
The old heavens pass.
The old elements pass.
The old government passes.
The old pain passes.
The old death passes.
The former things pass.
This is the movement we have seen throughout the seven last plagues.
BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.”
— Revelation 21:5
This is God’s answer to the old world.
Not:
“Behold, I destroy everything and leave nothing.”
But:
“I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.”
That is the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The old is judged.
The new is made manifest.
The seven last plagues participate in that transformation.
THE CITY HAS NO NEED OF THE OLD SUN
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it…”
— Revelation 21:23
The lesser lights have fulfilled their purpose.
The old forms of government are no longer needed.
The city has another Light.
The Fourth Bowl judged the old sun realm.
Now John sees the realm that replaces it.
THE GLORY OF GOD LIGHTS THE CITY
“For the glory of God did lighten it…”
— Revelation 21:23
The glory becomes the atmosphere.
The entire realm is illuminated by God.
No mixture.
No counterfeit light.
No false sun.
No corrupted government.
The city lives in divine Light.
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT THEREOF
“And the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
Here is the climax of the sun revelation.
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT.
The crucified One.
The risen One.
The reigning One.
The Savior.
The King.
The Priest.
The Light.
This is the government that survives every judgment of the seven last plagues.
THE LAMB DOES NOT SCORCH THE CITY
“And the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
Notice the contrast.
The city lives in His Light.
The Light does not destroy the city.
It fills the city.
It illuminates the city.
It becomes the environment of the city.
This is One Sun — Two Worlds brought to completion.
The old world experiences His appearing as judgment.
The new world lives in His Light.
THE NATIONS WALK IN THE LIGHT
“And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it…”
— Revelation 21:24
The Light reaches the nations.
The purpose expands.
The bride becomes ministry.
The city becomes illumination.
The government of Christ becomes blessing to the earth.
This is the final answer to scorching government.
The nations do not flee the Light.
They walk in it.
KINGS BRING THEIR GLORY INTO THE CITY
“And the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.”
— Revelation 21:24
Even rulership is reconciled.
Kings come into the Light.
Authority is no longer independent.
Government is brought beneath the Lamb.
The sun realm finds its true purpose.
Not domination.
Not oppression.
Not fear.
Service beneath Jesus Christ.
THE GATES NEVER SHUT
“And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day…”
— Revelation 21:25
The city is open.
There is no fear of invasion by darkness.
There is no need to close the gates.
The government is secure.
The Light is complete.
The old night has lost its authority.
THERE SHALL BE NO NIGHT THERE
“For there shall be no night there.”
— Revelation 21:25
Night is gone.
Darkness is gone.
The hiding place of the lie is gone.
The seven last plagues have revealed, judged, exposed, and purified the old order.
Now the final realm is Light.
THE RIVER OF LIFE FLOWS FROM THE THRONE
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
— Revelation 22:1
Now government and Life become one picture.
The throne is government.
And from the throne flows Life.
This is how Christ rules.
His government produces Life.
The old sun realm scorched.
The new throne sends forth a River of Life.
This brings us back to the earlier bowls of the seven last plagues.
The rivers and fountains were judged.
Now the true River appears.
THE TREE OF LIFE HEALS THE NATIONS
“And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
— Revelation 22:2
There is healing again.
Malachi began with:
Healing in His wings.
Revelation ends with:
Healing of the nations.
That is not accidental.
The Sun of Righteousness has brought His purpose to fullness.
The seven last plagues served the transition.
Healing remains.
THERE SHALL BE NO MORE CURSE
“And there shall be no more curse…”
— Revelation 22:3
The curse is not eternal.
The old world is not eternal.
The old government is not eternal.
The seven last plagues are not eternal.
The throne remains.
The Lamb remains.
Life remains.
THE THRONE OF GOD AND OF THE LAMB SHALL BE IN IT
“But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it…”
— Revelation 22:3
Government remains.
But now the government is pure.
No false throne.
No beastly throne.
No Babylonian throne.
No Adamic throne.
The throne of God and the Lamb.
This is the final sun realm.
HIS SERVANTS SHALL SERVE HIM
“And his servants shall serve him.”
— Revelation 22:3
Priesthood reaches its true expression.
Service.
The overcomers do not become tyrants.
The sons serve.
The priesthood serves.
Government expresses the nature of the Lamb.
This is the kind of government the seven last plagues are preparing creation to receive.
THEY SHALL SEE HIS FACE
“And they shall see his face…”
— Revelation 22:4
No veil.
No mixture.
No false image of God.
No corrupted representation.
Face-to-face revelation.
Truth has fully entered the room.
And the lie is gone.
HIS NAME SHALL BE IN THEIR FOREHEADS
“And his name shall be in their foreheads.”
— Revelation 22:4
The mind is governed by Christ.
The identity is Christ.
The authority is Christ.
The nature is Christ.
The forehead once marked by false government now carries His name.
That is complete inward government.
THEY NEED NO LIGHT OF THE SUN
“And they need no candle, neither light of the sun…”
— Revelation 22:5
The journey that began in Genesis is complete.
The created sun was appointed to rule.
But the created picture gives way to spiritual fullness.
No lesser sun is required.
The Lord Himself gives Light.
THE LORD GOD GIVETH THEM LIGHT
“For the Lord God giveth them light…”
— Revelation 22:5
The Lord God is a Sun.
Now that revelation stands unveiled.
God Himself is the Light of the realm.
The seven last plagues have cleared the heavens of every false governing light.
THEY SHALL REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER
“And they shall reign for ever and ever.”
— Revelation 22:5
The Bible ends where Genesis began.
RULE.
Genesis:
The greater light was made to rule.
Revelation:
They reign in the Light of God.
But now government has reached maturity.
The ruling people have been formed in the nature of the Lamb.
The throne sends forth Life.
The nations receive healing.
The city shines with glory.
The old government is gone.
THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES SERVE THE GOVERNMENT OF THE LAMB
“For he must reign…”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
This is why the sun realm had to be judged.
Christ must reign.
The old mind must yield.
The old authorities must yield.
The old religious government must yield.
The old heavens must yield.
The old suns must yield.
Every realm must yield.
The seven last plagues participate in that universal subjection.
EVERY RULE AND AUTHORITY MUST BE PUT DOWN
“When he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:24
Every rival government ends.
Not because God hates government.
Because He is establishing true government.
Every false sun disappears before the True Light.
THE LAST ENEMY IS DESTROYED
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
Death does not survive the Light.
The final government is the government of Life.
The seven last plagues cannot terminate in death because Christ continues to reign until death itself is destroyed.
GOD BECOMES ALL IN ALL
“That God may be all in all.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:28
This is the final horizon.
The old heavens have passed.
The old elements have melted.
The old sun realm has been judged.
The woman has been prepared.
The bride has appeared.
The city has descended.
The Lamb has become the Light.
The nations walk in that Light.
The throne sends forth Life.
Death is destroyed.
And God becomes all in all.
This is where the seven last plagues are taking us.
FROM THE GREATER LIGHT TO THE LAMB
“The greater light to rule the day…”
— Genesis 1:16
The revelation began with a created picture.
A greater light.
A realm beneath it.
A government.
A rule.
But Scripture never intended for us to stop with the picture.
The picture pointed toward Christ.
From Genesis to Revelation, the sun has carried the testimony of rulership, light, glory, authority, influence, and government.
The Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues judges the corrupted sun realm.
Peter sees the old heavens pass.
The man-child enters the throne.
The woman is prepared in the wilderness.
The bride emerges.
The city descends.
And finally:
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT.
This is the fulfillment of the sun realm.
THE LAMB IS THE FINAL GOVERNING LIGHT
“The Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
No false light survives Him.
No lie outshines Him.
No darkness overcomes Him.
No government rivals Him forever.
No death defeats Him.
No old world stops His purpose.
The seven last plagues reveal the judgment necessary to remove what cannot remain beneath His government.
But the judgments are not the final revelation.
THE LAMB IS.
The heat is not final.
The Light is.
The old heavens are not final.
The new heavens are.
The wilderness is not final.
The bride is.
The old government is not final.
The throne of God and the Lamb is.
Death is not final.
Life is.
Adam is not final.
Christ is.
And when every false sun has lost its place, every lesser light has fulfilled its purpose, and every opposing government has been brought beneath His feet, creation will stand in the unveiled glory of the One toward whom the whole revelation has always been moving:
JESUS CHRIST — THE LAMB, THE KING, THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THE EVERLASTING LIGHT.
CONCLUSION
THE SUN REALM UNDER THE GOVERNMENT OF JESUS CHRIST
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
The Fourth Bowl has carried us much farther than a surface reading of Revelation 16:8–9 would ever suggest.
We began with the sun.
We ended with the Lamb.
We began with a bowl poured upon a governing light.
We ended with the revelation of the True Light.
We began with scorching heat.
We ended with healing, righteousness, Life, and government.
And through it all, the seven last plagues have revealed something greater than destruction.
They have revealed transition.
An old world is passing.
A new world is appearing.
An old government is being exposed.
A new government is being established.
An old sun realm is being judged.
The Sun of Righteousness is arising.
THE FOURTH BOWL IS GOVERNMENTAL
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
The sun was never a random detail in John’s vision.
From the beginning of Scripture, the greater light was appointed to rule.
The heavens speak of government.
The lights of the heavens speak of ruling influence.
Therefore, when the Fourth Bowl of the seven last plagues is poured upon the sun, God is dealing with government.
He is dealing with authority.
He is dealing with rulership.
He is dealing with the governing influences of an old creation.
The judgment reaches higher than outward behavior.
It reaches the realm that has been producing the behavior.
It reaches the source of influence.
It reaches the throne behind the action.
That is why the Fourth Bowl is so important.
God is not merely trimming fruit.
He is dealing with the governing root.
THE SUN HAS NOT CHANGED
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…”
— Malachi 4:2
At the center of this entire study stands one great revelation:
ONE SUN — TWO WORLDS.
The Sun of Righteousness has not changed.
Jesus Christ has not changed.
Truth has not changed.
Light has not changed.
Love has not changed.
Yet the same appearing produces two different experiences because it encounters two different orders.
To the new creation, the Sun arises with healing.
To the old Adamic world, the same Light becomes exposure.
To Truth, Light is glory.
To the lie, Light is judgment.
To the incorruptible, the Sun is Life.
To corruption, the Sun reveals everything that must pass away.
The problem is not the Sun.
The problem is the condition of the world upon which He shines.
WHEN TRUTH WALKS INTO THE ROOM
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world…”
— John 3:19
The judgment is revealed in the coming of Light.
Truth does not have to become hateful in order to destroy the lie.
Truth simply has to appear.
Light does not have to become darkness in order to overcome darkness.
Light simply shines.
This is one of the simplest ways to understand the seven last plagues.
Jesus Christ is being revealed.
And when Christ is revealed, everything contrary to Him comes into manifestation.
The lie loses its covering.
Mixture loses its hiding place.
False government loses its legitimacy.
The old order is exposed.
That is judgment.
When Truth walks into the room, it is not a good day for the lie.
But it is a very good day for the one being delivered from the lie.
THE HEAT HAS A PURPOSE
“And men were scorched with great heat…”
— Revelation 16:9
The heat is intense.
But the heat is not meaningless.
Fire reveals.
Fire tests.
Fire separates.
Fire purifies.
Fire consumes what cannot remain.
The seven last plagues reveal the old world being brought beneath the intensity of divine Truth.
The heat makes the hidden condition visible.
The scorching exposes false government.
The old ruling order begins to reveal what has been living within it.
And once the condition is exposed, it can be dealt with.
THE FIRE BURNS THE BONDS
“I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire…”
— Daniel 3:25
This is one of the great pictures of divine judgment.
The fire did not destroy the men.
The fire destroyed what bound them.
That is the heart of redemptive judgment.
God knows the difference between the person and the bondage.
He knows the difference between His creation and the corruption operating within it.
He knows the difference between the vessel and what has enslaved the vessel.
The fire can burn the bonds.
The judgment can expose the lie.
The heat can destroy false government.
And the person can come forth free.
That is the spirit in which we must understand the seven last plagues.
THE OLD HEAVENS ARE PASSING
“The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat…”
— 2 Peter 3:10
Peter saw the same transition.
Old heavens.
Elements.
Fervent heat.
Dissolution.
Passing away.
But Peter did not end his revelation there.
He looked through the heat.
He looked through the fire.
He looked through the passing of the old world.
And he saw something greater.
NEVERTHELESS
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
— 2 Peter 3:13
This is one of the greatest words in the whole revelation.
NEVERTHELESS.
The old heavens pass.
Nevertheless.
The elements melt.
Nevertheless.
The fire burns.
Nevertheless.
The old government is judged.
Nevertheless.
There are new heavens.
There is a new earth.
There is righteousness.
The heat is not the destination.
Righteousness is the destination.
That is where the seven last plagues are carrying the creation.
THE MAN-CHILD HAS ALREADY ENTERED THE THRONE REALM
“And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
— Revelation 12:5
The ministry of the bowls must be understood from the proper order.
The man-child has already been born.
The overcomers have already entered the throne realm.
The priesthood has already moved into governmental ministry.
The woman has already gone into the wilderness.
Now ministry flows from the higher realm back toward the woman.
The throne ministers to the wilderness.
The mature minister to those being matured.
The firstfruits minister to the harvest.
The priesthood ministers the bowls.
This is not abandonment.
It is preparation.
THE WOMAN IS BEING PREPARED
“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God…”
— Revelation 12:6
God prepared the wilderness.
The woman is preserved there.
Fed there.
Dealt with there.
Purified there.
Prepared there.
The seven last plagues minister into that realm.
They expose false governing lights.
They reveal religious mixture.
They judge oppressive authority.
They bring Babylonian influences into the Light.
They prepare the woman for another manifestation.
The woman is not being discarded.
She is being made ready.
THE PRIESTHOOD MINISTERS RECONCILIATION
“And hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:19
The overcomers do not minister accusation.
They minister Christ.
They do not minister condemnation.
They minister reconciliation.
They do not point at individuals and declare them hopeless.
They reveal the realms that hold people.
They expose the lie.
They judge false government.
They minister Truth.
This is how the seven last plagues must be understood.
The bowls are priestly ministry.
They proceed from the temple.
They come from the heavenly administration of God.
They serve purification and preparation.
FALSE SUNS MUST LOSE THEIR AUTHORITY
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
Every false sun must be exposed.
Every governing doctrine rooted in the natural mind must be tested.
Every religious authority that rules through fear must be brought into the Light.
Every institutional power that claims divine authority while manifesting another nature must be judged.
Every inward ruling thought contrary to Christ must lose its throne.
The Fourth Bowl reaches the sun realm because Jesus Christ intends to govern the whole man and the whole creation.
THE GOVERNMENT OF CHRIST IS DIFFERENT
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7
The answer to false government is not no government.
The answer is Christ’s government.
His government produces peace.
His government produces Life.
His government produces healing.
His government produces righteousness.
His government expresses the nature of the Lamb.
That is the kingdom toward which the seven last plagues are moving creation.
THE WOMAN IS MOVING TOWARD BRIDAL FULLNESS
“For the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.”
— Revelation 19:7
The wilderness is transitional.
The preparation has a destination.
The woman is moving toward the bride.
Mixture must be removed.
False government must be judged.
The old suns must lose their authority.
The Lamb must become the governing Light.
The seven last plagues participate in that preparation.
THE BRIDE IS CLOTHED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS
“And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white…”
— Revelation 19:8
The final clothing is purity.
No mixture.
No false covering.
No Babylonian garment.
Righteousness.
The judgments have served their purpose.
What was hidden has been exposed.
What was corruptible has been removed.
What belongs to Christ has been revealed.
THE CITY HAS NO NEED OF THE OLD SUN
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it…”
— Revelation 21:23
The old lights have fulfilled their purpose.
The city lives by another Light.
The Fourth Bowl judged a sun realm.
Now John sees a realm where no lesser sun is needed.
There is no contradiction.
There is fulfillment.
The old picture gives way to spiritual reality.
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT
“And the Lamb is the light thereof.”
— Revelation 21:23
Here is the final answer to the Fourth Bowl.
THE LAMB IS THE LIGHT.
Jesus Christ is the final governing Light.
He is the True Sun.
He is the righteous government.
He is the Life.
He is the Truth.
He is the healing.
He is the Light of the city.
Every false sun must eventually disappear before Him.
Every old government must yield to Him.
Every false authority must bow.
Every lie must lose its refuge.
Every darkness must lose its hiding place.
THE NATIONS WALK IN THE LIGHT
“And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it…”
— Revelation 21:24
The final Light is not reserved for a tiny group.
The nations walk in it.
The city becomes ministry.
The bride becomes ministry.
The priesthood becomes ministry.
The throne becomes ministry.
The government of the Lamb becomes blessing to creation.
This is the redemptive destination of the seven last plagues.
THE RIVER OF LIFE FLOWS FROM THE THRONE
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life… proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
— Revelation 22:1
The throne is government.
And what proceeds from the throne?
LIFE.
Not death.
Life.
The final government of God produces Life.
The old sun realm scorched under corrupt government.
The new throne sends forth a River of Life.
The government of Jesus Christ is revealed by what flows from it.
THE NATIONS ARE HEALED
“And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
— Revelation 22:2
Malachi saw healing in the wings of the Sun of Righteousness.
John sees healing for the nations.
The revelation is complete.
The Sun arose with healing.
The judgments exposed what opposed that healing.
The old heavens passed.
The new government appeared.
And healing reached the nations.
THERE SHALL BE NO MORE CURSE
“And there shall be no more curse…”
— Revelation 22:3
The curse is not eternal.
Corruption is not eternal.
Darkness is not eternal.
Death is not eternal.
The old government is not eternal.
The seven last plagues are not eternal.
The Lamb is eternal.
The throne is eternal.
Life is eternal.
THEY SHALL REIGN
“And they shall reign for ever and ever.”
— Revelation 22:5
The Bible began with the greater light appointed to rule.
The Bible ends with a people reigning in the Light of God.
Government was always the issue.
But now the government has been purified.
The rulers have been formed in the nature of the Lamb.
The throne sends forth Life.
The nations receive healing.
The Light fills the realm.
This is righteous government.
HE MUST REIGN
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
This is the divine necessity behind the seven last plagues.
HE MUST REIGN.
The lie cannot reign forever.
Death cannot reign forever.
Adam cannot reign forever.
Babylon cannot reign forever.
The beast cannot reign forever.
False suns cannot reign forever.
Jesus Christ must reign.
THE LAST ENEMY SHALL BE DESTROYED
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
The judgments are moving toward the destruction of death itself.
That means Life has the final word.
The final government is not the government of scorching.
It is the government of Life.
GOD SHALL BE ALL IN ALL
“That God may be all in all.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:28
There is the final horizon.
One Sun.
One Light.
One King.
One government.
One eternal purpose.
The two worlds do not remain eternal rivals.
The old passes.
The new remains.
Adam yields.
Christ reigns.
Death is destroyed.
The Lamb becomes the Light.
And God becomes all in all.
THE FINAL WORD OF THE FOURTH ANGEL
“And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun…”
— Revelation 16:8
The Fourth Angel reveals that the sun realm cannot remain untouched.
Government must be judged.
Authority must be purified.
Rulership must be reconciled.
The old heavens must pass.
The false lights must fade.
The woman must be prepared.
The priesthood must minister.
The bride must emerge.
The Lamb must become the Light.
This is the revelation of the Fourth Bowl within the seven last plagues.
The great heat was never the final destination.
The final destination is righteous government.
The final destination is healing.
The final destination is Life.
The final destination is Light.
The final destination is Jesus Christ.
The lie has had its day.
The old world has had its season.
The false suns have had their hour.
But Truth has walked into the room.
The Sun of Righteousness has arisen.
The old heavens are passing away.
The woman is being prepared.
The throne is ministering.
The Lamb is taking His rightful place as the everlasting Light.
And the government of Jesus Christ shall continue to increase until every realm, every authority, every power, every world, and every enemy has been brought beneath His feet.
Then the revelation that began with the greater light appointed to rule will find its complete fulfillment in the One who was always the true Light:
JESUS CHRIST — THE LAMB, THE SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, THE KING OF KINGS, AND THE EVERLASTING LIGHT OF THE NEW CREATION.
