The Throne of God — God Is Not Reacting to History

The Throne of God — Unveiling How Eternity Governs Time, How the Cross Governs History, and How Christ Administers a Finished Victory

By Carl Timothy Wray

AUTHOR

Carl Timothy Wray is a teacher and writer of the Finished Work of Christ, dedicated to unveiling the unified mind of God from Genesis to Revelation. Through hundreds of books, teachings, and prophetic studies, he has focused on revealing the eternal purpose of God, the present reign of Christ, the administration of the Throne of God, and the unfolding of the Plan of the Ages.

His writings challenge fear-based prophecy, religious delay, and fragmented theology by presenting the full counsel of God through the lens of Christ’s finished work. With a strong emphasis on the Throne of God, the Book of Revelation, the Kingdom of God, and the ultimate reconciliation of all things, Wray’s work calls believers to move beyond anticipation into understanding, beyond uncertainty into divine order, and beyond reactionary theology into the revelation of God’s eternal purpose.

In The Throne of God — God Is Not Reacting to History, Carl Timothy Wray unveils one of the most foundational truths in Scripture: God is not responding to events as they unfold—He is administering what He established before the foundation of the world. Through the Throne, the Cross, and the present reign of Christ, this book reveals how eternity governs time and how history unfolds according to a finished decree.

The Throne of God is the eternal center of divine government, revealing how God directs history through the Finished Work of Christ. This book explores the Throne of God from Genesis to Revelation, demonstrating how eternity governs time, how the Cross fulfilled God’s eternal purpose, and how Christ presently administers a finished victory. Readers searching for the meaning of the Throne of God, God’s sovereignty, the Plan of the Ages, the Finished Work of Christ, present Kingdom reign, Revelation explained, and God’s purpose in history will discover how Scripture consistently reveals one throne, one administration, and one eternal purpose unfolding throughout the ages.

INTRODUCTION

Before there was history, there was a throne.

Before there were nations, there was a throne.

Before there was sin, death, judgment, redemption, prophecy, or Revelation, there was a throne.

The greatest misunderstanding in modern Christianity is not merely the misunderstanding of prophecy, judgment, the antichrist, or the Book of Revelation. The greatest misunderstanding is the belief that God is reacting to history as it unfolds.

Many believers view history as a series of unexpected crises requiring divine intervention. Wars erupt, kingdoms rise and fall, darkness spreads, and humanity struggles. Then, according to this view, God responds. He reacts. He adjusts. He intervenes.

Scripture reveals something altogether different.

The God of the Bible is not a spectator observing events from a distance. He is not learning as history progresses. He is not discovering outcomes as time unfolds. He is not adjusting His plans according to the decisions of men.

The Throne of God reveals a far greater reality.

God is not reacting to history.

God is directing history.

From Genesis to Revelation, the throne stands as the eternal center of divine administration. Before the foundation of the world, God’s purpose was established. Before Adam fell, the Lamb was known. Before history began, the end was declared. The Cross was not God’s emergency response to human failure. It was the manifestation within time of what had already been settled in eternity.

History is not writing God’s story.

God is writing history’s story.

This truth changes everything.

It changes how we understand prophecy.

It changes how we understand judgment.

It changes how we understand the Book of Revelation.

It changes how we understand the Kingdom of God.

Most importantly, it changes how we understand Christ.

The Lamb is not an afterthought in history. The Lamb is the center of history. The Throne of God does not wait for victory. The Throne administers victory. Revelation does not determine the outcome. Revelation unveils the outcome. Judgment does not decide who wins. Judgment executes what has already been won.

Throughout this book we will follow the Throne of God from eternity past through creation, through the Cross, through the ages, through Revelation, and ultimately into the consummation of God’s purpose where all things are brought into divine order and God becomes all in all.

The question before us is simple:

Is God reacting to history?

Or is history unfolding according to the administration of an eternal throne?

The answer to that question changes the way we read every page of Scripture.

The throne is occupied.

The work is finished.

The government is in motion.

And history is moving exactly where God determined it would go.

CHAPTER 1

BEFORE THERE WAS HISTORY, THERE WAS A THRONE

Before there was creation, there was authority.

Before there was time, there was government.

Before there was a universe to govern, there was a Throne.

Most believers begin the story of God in Genesis 1:1:

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

But Scripture reveals that something existed before the beginning. Before creation appeared, before angels sang, before stars burned, before worlds were formed, God already reigned.

The throne did not emerge because history required leadership.

History emerged because the throne already existed.

This truth changes everything.

The Throne of God is not a reaction to events. It is the source from which all events proceed.

If we misunderstand the timing of the throne, we will misunderstand creation, redemption, prophecy, judgment, and the Book of Revelation itself.

The throne came first.

Everything else followed.

AUTHORITY PRECEDES CREATION

The universe did not give God authority.

Authority made the universe possible.

When God spoke, creation obeyed.

Light appeared.

Darkness retreated.

Waters divided.

Land emerged.

Life multiplied.

Nothing negotiated.

Nothing resisted.

Nothing voted.

Everything responded to authority.

The opening chapter of Genesis is not primarily a story of creation.

It is a revelation of government.

Every “Let there be” reveals a throne.

Every divine command reveals authority.

Every act of creation reveals administration.

The universe itself is evidence that government existed before creation began.

Speech is the language of authority.

Command is the evidence of rule.

Order is the evidence of administration.

Creation exists because authority already existed.

THE THRONE WAS NEVER ESTABLISHED

One of the greatest misconceptions in theology is the idea that God somehow gained authority.

Scripture never teaches such a thing.

God does not ascend to the throne.

God does not earn the throne.

God does not compete for the throne.

God does not defend the throne.

God simply is.

The throne is eternal because God is eternal.

Psalm 103:19 declares:

“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.”

The throne is not presented as something under construction.

It is presented as already established.

The throne does not become stronger through time.

The throne governs time.

The throne does not mature through history.

History unfolds beneath the throne.

THE LAMB BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD

Perhaps no scripture destroys reactionary theology more completely than Revelation 13:8.

The Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.

This statement reaches backward beyond creation itself.

Before Adam sinned.

Before death entered.

Before the serpent appeared.

Before history began.

The Lamb was already known.

This means redemption was not invented after the Fall.

The Cross was not Plan B.

Salvation was not an emergency response.

The throne had already spoken.

The decree had already been established.

The Lamb was already present within the eternal purpose of God.

History would eventually reveal what eternity had already settled.

GOD DECLARES THE END FROM THE BEGINNING

Isaiah records one of the most powerful declarations in all Scripture:

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.”

Notice carefully what God does not say.

He does not say He predicts the end.

He does not say He anticipates the end.

He does not say He hopes for the end.

He declares the end.

The end exists within His counsel before it appears within history.

The throne is not trying to discover where history is heading.

The throne determines where history is heading.

This is why prophecy is possible.

God speaks of future events because future events already exist within His purpose.

History is not creating God’s plan.

History is revealing God’s plan.

TIME DOES NOT GOVERN THE THRONE

Man lives inside time.

God governs time.

We experience yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The throne experiences eternity.

What appears progressive to us is complete to Him.

What appears unfinished to us is settled within His counsel.

What appears uncertain to us is already known to Him.

The throne never waits for tomorrow to arrive.

The throne governs tomorrow before tomorrow exists.

This is why Scripture can speak of future realities as though they have already occurred.

The throne does not predict outcomes.

The throne administers outcomes.

THE FUTURE IS NOT UNDECIDED

Much of religion is built upon suspense.

People wonder whether God will succeed.

People wonder whether evil will prevail.

People wonder whether darkness will gain the upper hand.

People wonder whether the Kingdom will triumph.

The throne wonders none of these things.

The throne has never questioned the outcome.

The throne has never reconsidered its purpose.

The throne has never adjusted its decree.

The future is not undecided.

The future is administered.

Everything unfolds according to divine order.

Not because men are powerful.

Not because governments are powerful.

Not because darkness is powerful.

But because the throne is established.

THE FIRST GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE

Before there was history, there was a throne.

Before there was creation, there was a throne.

Before there was sin, there was a throne.

Before there was redemption, there was a throne.

Before there was prophecy, there was a throne.

Before there was Revelation, there was a throne.

This is the first great revelation of Scripture.

God is not reacting to history.

God is directing history.

History unfolds because the throne has spoken.

The throne existed before the beginning.

The throne governs the ages.

The throne administers creation.

And the throne has never been vacant.

CHAPTER 2

THE THRONE IS NOT REACTIVE

The God of Scripture is not reacting to events.

He is not adjusting His plans.

He is not improvising solutions.

He is not learning as history unfolds.

He is not responding to unexpected developments within creation.

The throne is not reactive.

The throne is sovereign.

This truth stands at the very heart of understanding the Throne of God.

Most religious systems unknowingly present a reactive God. They imagine God observing the actions of men, waiting to see what will happen next, and then deciding how He will respond. In this view, history becomes the primary actor and God becomes the responder.

Scripture reveals exactly the opposite.

The throne acts.

History responds.

GOD NEVER LEARNS

One of the most overlooked truths in Scripture is that God never learns.

Learning requires ignorance.

Discovery requires limitation.

Adjustment requires incomplete knowledge.

None of these can be applied to God.

The prophet Isaiah records the words of the Lord:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”

The difference is not merely that God knows more.

The difference is that God knows completely.

Nothing has ever occurred to God.

Nothing has ever surprised Him.

Nothing has ever forced Him to revise His purpose.

The throne has never received new information.

The throne already possesses complete understanding.

This is why God can declare the end from the beginning.

He is not predicting the future.

He knows it perfectly.

THE THRONE DOES NOT IMPROVISE

Men improvise.

God administers.

Human governments constantly adapt.

Policies change.

Leaders change.

Laws change.

Strategies change.

But the throne of God remains unchanged.

James writes that with God there is:

“No variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

God is not attempting to determine the best course of action.

The best course of action was already established within His eternal counsel.

The throne never holds emergency meetings.

The throne never enters crisis mode.

The throne never asks what should be done next.

The throne simply unfolds what has already been determined.

THE PLAN WAS SETTLED BEFORE TIME

Ephesians reveals a breathtaking truth.

Before the foundation of the world, God’s purpose was already established in Christ.

Before Adam existed.

Before Abraham walked the earth.

Before Moses received the Law.

Before David ruled Israel.

Before Rome ruled the nations.

Before John stood on Patmos.

The plan was already complete.

History is not the process by which God creates His purpose.

History is the process through which God reveals His purpose.

The throne established the decree.

The ages unveil the decree.

The throne settles.

Time manifests.

DANIEL’S REVELATION OF THE THRONE

Few books reveal divine sovereignty more clearly than Daniel.

Kings rise.

Kings fall.

Empires emerge.

Empires disappear.

Babylon dominates.

Persia conquers Babylon.

Greece conquers Persia.

Rome conquers Greece.

Yet behind every rise and every fall stands one unchanging reality:

“The Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men.”

Daniel does not present history as random.

Daniel presents history as governed.

Nebuchadnezzar learned this lesson through humiliation.

The greatest king on earth was forced to discover that there was a greater King above him.

Earthly authority is temporary.

The throne is eternal.

Earthly kingdoms are permitted.

The throne is established.

WHY PROPHECY EXISTS

Prophecy itself proves that God is not reactive.

If God were reacting to events, prophecy would be impossible.

The future would remain unknown.

Outcomes would remain uncertain.

Events could not be declared beforehand.

But Scripture is filled with prophetic declarations.

Why?

Because the throne already knows the destination.

Prophecy is not fortune telling.

Prophecy is the unveiling of divine intention.

God speaks because God knows.

God knows because God reigns.

The throne reveals tomorrow because the throne governs tomorrow.

THE CROSS REVEALS A NON-REACTIVE GOD

Nothing demonstrates this truth more powerfully than the Cross.

The Cross was not God’s response to a failed creation.

The Cross was not a last-minute rescue mission.

The Cross was not heaven’s emergency solution.

Scripture declares Christ was foreordained before the foundation of the world.

The Lamb existed within God’s purpose before sin entered the world.

Redemption was not created because history went wrong.

Redemption was part of God’s eternal purpose before history began.

The Cross did not force God to react.

The Cross revealed what God had already determined.

This truth transforms the way we understand salvation.

The throne was never surprised by Adam.

The throne had already spoken.

RELIGION CREATES A REACTIVE GOD

Many believers unknowingly worship a God who is constantly reacting.

They imagine God reacting to sin.

Reacting to governments.

Reacting to nations.

Reacting to prophecy.

Reacting to darkness.

Reacting to Satan.

Reacting to history.

But Scripture reveals a God who sits.

The image repeated throughout the Bible is not of a frantic God running through heaven trying to maintain control.

It is a seated King.

A seated King signifies completed authority.

A seated King signifies settled government.

A seated King signifies unquestioned dominion.

The throne is occupied because the throne is secure.

THE THRONE IS NEVER NERVOUS

Because the throne is not reactive, the throne is never nervous.

Wars do not disturb heaven.

Economic collapse does not disturb heaven.

Political upheaval does not disturb heaven.

Religious confusion does not disturb heaven.

The nations rage.

The peoples imagine vain things.

Kings take counsel together.

Yet Psalm 2 reveals heaven’s response:

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh.”

Why?

Because the throne already knows the outcome.

Darkness appears powerful only to those who cannot see the throne.

Once the throne is seen, fear begins to disappear.

Confidence begins to grow.

Rest begins to emerge.

THE SECOND GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE

The first revelation was this:

Before there was history, there was a throne.

The second revelation is this:

The throne is not reacting to history.

The throne is directing history.

God is not improvising.

God is not adjusting.

God is not learning.

God is not responding to uncertainty.

The throne governs.

The throne administers.

The throne unfolds.

The throne reveals.

The throne executes what was settled before the foundation of the world.

History moves because the throne has decreed its destination.

And every age, every kingdom, every prophecy, and every event ultimately serves the purpose of the One who sits upon the throne.

CHAPTER 3

HISTORY UNFOLDS WHAT ETERNITY SETTLED

History is not creating God’s purpose.

History is revealing God’s purpose.

This distinction changes everything.

Most people view history as the place where outcomes are determined. They imagine that events are unfolding toward an uncertain future and that God, angels, nations, and men are all moving toward a conclusion that has yet to be decided.

Scripture presents a very different picture.

The throne does not move toward uncertainty.

The throne moves toward fulfillment.

What appears to be unfolding within time has already been settled within eternity.

History is not the birthplace of God’s purpose.

History is the unveiling of God’s purpose.

ETERNITY PRECEDES TIME

Before there was time, there was eternity.

Before there were ages, there was purpose.

Before there were events, there was decree.

This is why Scripture repeatedly points us beyond the visible realm and into the counsel of God.

Paul writes that God saved us and called us according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.

Notice the order.

Purpose came first.

History came second.

The decree came first.

Manifestation came second.

The throne settled.

Time revealed.

The mistake of religion is often reversing this order.

Men look at events and then attempt to determine God’s purpose.

The throne begins with purpose and then reveals it through events.

THE AGES ARE REVELATORY

The ages do not exist because God is undecided.

The ages exist because revelation is progressive.

The Plan of the Ages is not God’s attempt to figure things out.

The Plan of the Ages is God’s method of unveiling what has already been settled.

A seed contains the tree before the tree appears.

A blueprint contains the building before the building is constructed.

A decree contains the outcome before the outcome is manifested.

Likewise, eternity contains the finished purpose before history reveals it.

The ages are not experiments.

The ages are revelations.

Every age unveils another dimension of what the throne already established.

GOD’S PURPOSE CANNOT FAIL

One of the greatest sources of fear in religious thinking is the idea that God’s purpose may somehow fail.

But Scripture consistently destroys this idea.

The Lord declares:

“My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”

Not some of His pleasure.

Not most of His pleasure.

All of His pleasure.

The confidence of the throne is rooted in this reality.

The throne never wonders whether the purpose will succeed.

The throne knows the purpose will succeed because the purpose originated within the throne itself.

What God purposes cannot ultimately fail.

What God decrees cannot ultimately collapse.

What God begins He brings to completion.

ROMANS 8 AND THE GOLDEN CHAIN

Romans 8 presents one of the clearest pictures of eternity unfolding through time.

Paul speaks of those whom God foreknew.

Those He foreknew He predestined.

Those He predestined He called.

Those He called He justified.

Those He justified He glorified.

Notice something remarkable.

Paul speaks of glorification as though it has already happened.

Why?

Because he is viewing reality from the perspective of the throne.

From within history, glorification appears future.

From within eternity, glorification is already settled.

The throne does not speak from uncertainty.

The throne speaks from completion.

History reveals what eternity already knows.

JOSEPH AND THE INVISIBLE PURPOSE

The life of Joseph illustrates this principle beautifully.

Joseph was sold into slavery.

Falsely accused.

Imprisoned.

Forgotten.

From the perspective of history, everything appeared to be going wrong.

But from the perspective of the throne, everything was moving exactly where it needed to go.

The pit served the purpose.

The prison served the purpose.

The betrayal served the purpose.

The delay served the purpose.

At the end Joseph declared:

“You meant evil against me; but God meant it unto good.”

Notice he did not say God reacted and turned evil into good.

He said God meant it.

The throne was already working toward a destination.

History was revealing what the throne intended.

THE CROSS AND THE AGES

No event reveals this truth more clearly than the Cross.

The Cross appeared to be defeat.

The disciples saw failure.

The rulers saw victory.

The religious leaders saw triumph.

Yet heaven saw fulfillment.

The greatest act of wickedness in human history became the greatest revelation of divine purpose.

Why?

Because the throne was never reacting.

The throne was administering.

What appeared to be chaos was actually fulfillment.

What appeared to be tragedy was actually victory.

What appeared to be the end was actually the unveiling of what had been determined before the foundation of the world.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EARTH AND HEAVEN

Earth interprets events from below.

Heaven interprets events from above.

Earth sees process.

Heaven sees completion.

Earth sees delay.

Heaven sees administration.

Earth sees uncertainty.

Heaven sees fulfillment.

This is why believers must learn to see through the eyes of the throne.

As long as we interpret history apart from eternity, confusion remains.

When eternity becomes the lens, everything begins to align.

The throne provides context.

The throne provides perspective.

The throne provides understanding.

WHY THIS CHANGES PROPHECY

Many people approach prophecy as though it were a prediction of uncertain events.

Scripture approaches prophecy differently.

Prophecy reveals where history is going because the throne already knows where history is going.

Prophecy is not speculation.

Prophecy is revelation.

The prophets were not guessing.

They were seeing.

The apostles were not theorizing.

They were unveiling.

The Book of Revelation is not a suspense novel.

It is an unveiling of divine administration.

The throne knows the destination.

The prophets reveal the path.

THE THIRD GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE

The first revelation was:

Before there was history, there was a throne.

The second revelation was:

The throne is not reactive.

The third revelation is this:

History unfolds what eternity settled.

The decree came first.

The manifestation came second.

The purpose came first.

The ages came second.

The throne came first.

History came second.

Nothing occurring within time is creating God’s purpose.

Everything occurring within time is revealing God’s purpose.

The ages are unveiling what the throne established.

The Cross revealed what eternity settled.

Revelation unveils what the Cross accomplished.

And history itself is moving steadily toward the complete manifestation of what God determined before the foundation of the world.

The throne has spoken.

The decree is settled.

The ages are unveiling it.

CHAPTER 4

THE CROSS WAS NEVER PLAN B

The Cross did not begin God’s plan.

The Cross revealed God’s plan.

This truth stands as one of the most revolutionary revelations in all of Scripture.

Many believers view the Cross as God’s response to Adam’s failure.

Adam sinned.

Creation fell.

Humanity became separated.

And then God developed a plan of redemption.

This sounds reasonable.

It is also completely contrary to the revelation of the throne.

The throne does not react.

The throne decrees.

The Cross was not God’s emergency response to human failure.

The Cross was the manifestation within time of what had already been settled in eternity.

Before Adam fell, the Lamb was known.

Before sin entered, redemption existed within the heart of God.

Before history began, Calvary was already present within the eternal counsel of the throne.

THE LAMB BEFORE ADAM

One of the most astounding statements in Scripture is found in Revelation.

The Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.

This declaration takes us beyond Genesis.

Beyond Eden.

Beyond creation itself.

It carries us into eternity.

Before Adam breathed his first breath.

Before the serpent appeared.

Before sin entered the world.

The Lamb already existed within God’s purpose.

This means redemption did not originate because of failure.

Redemption existed before failure appeared.

The throne already knew.

The throne had already spoken.

The throne had already established the decree.

History would simply reveal it.

THE CROSS WAS NOT GOD’S BACKUP PLAN

The idea that the Cross became necessary because Adam sinned creates a reactive God.

It portrays redemption as a divine adjustment.

It suggests that history forced God to modify His original intentions.

Scripture teaches something entirely different.

The Cross was not Plan B.

The Cross was part of Plan A.

The Lamb was not inserted into history.

History was built around the Lamb.

Christ is not a supporting character within God’s purpose.

Christ is the center of God’s purpose.

Everything moves toward Him.

Everything flows from Him.

Everything finds fulfillment in Him.

The throne did not discover redemption.

The throne decreed redemption.

THE MYSTERY HIDDEN FROM AGES

Paul repeatedly speaks about a mystery hidden from ages and generations.

Notice carefully what he does not say.

He does not say the mystery was created later.

He says it was hidden.

Something hidden already exists.

Something hidden is not absent.

It is simply unrevealed.

The Cross functioned exactly this way.

The purpose existed.

The decree existed.

The Lamb existed within the counsel of God.

The mystery remained hidden until the appointed time arrived.

Then history unveiled what eternity had concealed.

The Cross was not created in time.

The Cross was revealed in time.

THE CROSS STANDS AT THE CENTER OF HISTORY

When viewed through the eyes of the throne, the Cross becomes the central event of history.

Everything before it points toward it.

Everything after it flows from it.

The Law pointed toward it.

The Prophets anticipated it.

The sacrifices foreshadowed it.

The covenants prepared for it.

The apostles proclaimed it.

The Book of Revelation administers it.

The Cross is not one event among many.

It is the dividing line of history itself.

The throne established it.

Time revealed it.

Eternity interprets it.

THE CROSS REVEALS THE CHARACTER OF GOD

The Cross does more than reveal redemption.

It reveals the nature of divine government.

At Calvary we discover that God’s throne operates differently than the kingdoms of men.

Earthly governments preserve themselves through force.

The throne reveals itself through sacrifice.

Earthly rulers demand service.

Christ became a servant.

Earthly kings seek their own preservation.

Christ laid down His life.

The Cross unveils the heart of the King seated upon the throne.

Authority and love are not enemies.

Power and sacrifice are not opposites.

Government and grace are not contradictions.

They meet perfectly in Christ.

JUDGMENT OCCURRED AT THE CROSS

One of the greatest misconceptions in theology is the belief that judgment remains primarily future.

Scripture certainly reveals future manifestations of judgment.

But the decisive judgment occurred at the Cross.

Sin was judged.

The old man was condemned.

Death received its verdict.

The powers of darkness were exposed.

The ruler of this world was judged.

The throne did not postpone judgment.

The throne executed judgment.

Everything that follows in Revelation is administration of what was accomplished there.

The Cross did not begin the victory.

The Cross revealed the victory.

THE RESURRECTION CONFIRMED THE DECREE

If the Cross revealed the judgment of the throne, the resurrection revealed the triumph of the throne.

The resurrection was not an experiment.

The resurrection was not uncertain.

The resurrection was inevitable.

Death could not hold what the throne had already justified.

The grave could not imprison what eternity had already decreed.

The resurrection was heaven’s declaration that the decree stood.

The throne had spoken.

The verdict was final.

Life prevailed.

THE ASCENSION REVEALS COMPLETED AUTHORITY

After the resurrection came the ascension.

And what did Christ do?

He sat down.

This may be one of the most important revelations in all of Scripture.

He sat down.

Not because He was tired.

Not because He was retreating.

Not because He was waiting.

He sat because the work was complete.

Seated authority reveals finished administration.

A king sits when victory is secure.

A priest sits when sacrifice is complete.

Christ sat because nothing remained to be accomplished.

The throne was occupied.

The victory was settled.

The administration had begun.

THE CROSS EXPLAINS HISTORY

Without the Cross, history becomes confusing.

Events appear random.

Prophecy appears fragmented.

Judgment appears frightening.

But when the Cross is placed at the center, everything begins to align.

Creation points toward Christ.

Redemption flows through Christ.

Revelation unveils Christ.

History revolves around Christ.

The Lamb is not reacting to events.

The Lamb governs events.

The Cross becomes the key that unlocks the meaning of the ages.

THE FOURTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE

The first revelation was:

Before there was history, there was a throne.

The second revelation was:

The throne is not reactive.

The third revelation was:

History unfolds what eternity settled.

The fourth revelation is this:

The Cross was never Plan B.

The Lamb existed before Adam.

Redemption existed before sin.

The decree existed before history.

The Cross did not force God to respond.

The Cross revealed what the throne had already determined.

History did not create redemption.

History unveiled redemption.

The throne spoke before the foundation of the world.

Calvary revealed what the throne had spoken.

And everything that follows in Scripture flows from that finished victory.

The Lamb was known.

The decree was settled.

The Cross was certain.

And the throne never changed its purpose.

CHAPTER 5

THE THRONE OF GOD — THE KINGDOMS OF MEN RISE BY PERMISSION

THE THRONE OF GOD RULES OVER THE KINGDOMS OF MEN

One of the greatest revelations concerning the Throne of God is that earthly kingdoms do not ultimately govern history.

The Throne of God governs history.

Men imagine they control nations.

Kings imagine they control empires.

Governments imagine they determine the future.

Yet Scripture repeatedly reveals that above every throne of earth stands the Throne of God.

Daniel 4:17

“The most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.”

This single verse destroys the illusion that history belongs to men.

Babylon did not rise apart from the Throne of God.

Persia did not rise apart from the Throne of God.

Greece did not rise apart from the Throne of God.

Rome did not rise apart from the Throne of God.

The kingdoms of men rise by permission.

The Throne of God alone possesses ultimate authority.

THE THRONE OF GOD REVEALED TO NEBUCHADNEZZAR

Daniel Chapter 2 contains one of the most important revelations concerning the Throne of God and the administration of history.

King Nebuchadnezzar saw a great image.

Daniel 2:31-35

“Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image…”

The image revealed successive kingdoms:

  • Babylon
  • Medo-Persia
  • Greece
  • Rome

Then Daniel saw something greater.

Daniel 2:44

“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed.”

Notice what Daniel does not say.

He does not say men establish the final kingdom.

He does not say politics establish the final kingdom.

He does not say military power establishes the final kingdom.

The Throne of God establishes the kingdom.

History unfolds beneath divine administration.

The Throne of God directs history toward the Kingdom of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD HUMBLED BABYLON

Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful ruler on earth.

Yet God determined to teach him a lesson concerning the Throne of God.

Daniel 4:30

“Is not this great Babylon, that I have built?”

Nebuchadnezzar believed the kingdom belonged to him.

The Throne of God revealed otherwise.

Daniel 4:31-32

“The kingdom is departed from thee… till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men.”

God removed the king from his throne so that he could learn about a greater throne.

This is one of the central lessons of Scripture.

Every earthly throne is temporary.

The Throne of God is eternal.

Every human kingdom is limited.

The Throne of God governs all things.

THE THRONE OF GOD NEVER LOSES CONTROL

Many believers read current events and wonder if the world is slipping out of control.

Scripture reveals something very different.

The Throne of God never loses control.

Psalm 103:19

“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.”

Notice the phrase:

“ruleth over all.”

Not some things.

Not spiritual things only.

Not merely church things.

The Throne of God rules over all.

The rise of nations.

The fall of nations.

The movement of history.

The unfolding of prophecy.

The administration of redemption.

The execution of judgment.

Everything ultimately falls beneath the government of the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE STONE KINGDOM

Daniel’s vision does not end with Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome.

It ends with a stone.

Daniel 2:34-35

“A stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet.”

That stone becomes a mountain.

Daniel 2:35

“And the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”

The kingdoms of men pass away.

The Throne of God remains.

The kingdoms of men rise and fall.

The Kingdom of God increases.

The image crumbles.

The mountain grows.

History moves toward the administration of the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND PRESENT GOVERNMENT

Many people are waiting for God to someday govern.

Scripture teaches that the Throne of God governs now.

Ephesians 1:20-22

“When he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion.”

Christ is not waiting to receive authority.

Christ possesses authority.

Christ is not waiting to sit.

Christ is seated.

The Throne of God is occupied.

The government of God is active.

The administration of the Kingdom is unfolding.

History is moving beneath the authority of the enthroned Christ.

THE FIFTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD

The kingdoms of men rise by permission.

The kingdoms of men fall by permission.

The kingdoms of men do not direct history.

The Throne of God directs history.

Daniel 4:35

“He doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth.”

This is the fifth great revelation of the Throne of God.

The Most High rules.

The throne governs.

The Kingdom advances.

The stone grows.

History unfolds.

And every kingdom of men ultimately serves the greater purpose of the eternal Throne of God.

CHAPTER 6

THE THRONE OF GOD — TIME DOES NOT GOVERN THE THRONE

THE THRONE OF GOD EXISTS OUTSIDE OF TIME

One of the greatest limitations of humanity is time.

We live moment by moment.

We experience yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

We remember the past.

We live in the present.

We anticipate the future.

The Throne of God is not subject to any of these limitations.

The Throne of God does not move through time.

The Throne of God governs time.

Isaiah 57:15

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy…”

Notice carefully what Scripture says.

God does not merely understand eternity.

God inhabits eternity.

The Throne of God is not trapped inside the timeline.

The Throne of God stands above the timeline.

This is why God can speak of future events as though they have already happened.

The future is not hidden from the Throne of God.

The future unfolds beneath the administration of the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD DECLARES THE END FROM THE BEGINNING

One of the clearest revelations of the Throne of God appears in Isaiah.

Isaiah 46:9-10

“I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.”

The Throne of God does not predict the end.

The Throne of God declares the end.

There is a tremendous difference.

Prediction suggests uncertainty.

Declaration suggests authority.

The Throne of God speaks because the outcome is already known.

The Throne of God reveals because the decree is already established.

History is not creating the destination.

History is moving toward the destination declared by the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER

Everything around us changes.

Nations change.

Governments change.

Economies change.

Religious systems change.

Generations change.

The Throne of God does not change.

Hebrews 13:8

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

Malachi 3:6

“For I am the LORD, I change not.”

Because the Throne of God does not change, the purpose of God does not change.

Because the purpose of God does not change, the outcome of history does not change.

The Throne of God is the fixed point around which all ages revolve.

THE THRONE OF GOD SEES WHAT MAN CANNOT SEE

Men see fragments.

The Throne of God sees fullness.

Men see moments.

The Throne of God sees completion.

Men see process.

The Throne of God sees fulfillment.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time.”

The phrase “in his time” reveals divine administration.

The Throne of God governs timing.

The Throne of God governs seasons.

The Throne of God governs unfolding revelation.

What appears delayed to man is often perfectly timed from the perspective of the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND A THOUSAND YEARS

Peter gives us a powerful key to understanding the relationship between eternity and time.

2 Peter 3:8

“One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

Peter is not providing a mathematical formula.

Peter is revealing a throne reality.

The Throne of God is not constrained by human measurements.

The Throne of God is not frustrated by the passing of centuries.

The Throne of God is not rushing to complete its purpose.

The purpose is already complete within the decree of God.

The ages simply reveal it progressively.

This is why the Throne of God remains at rest while humanity often lives in anxiety.

THE THRONE OF GOD GOVERNS PROPHETIC TIME

Prophecy only makes sense when viewed from the perspective of the Throne of God.

Without the throne, prophecy becomes speculation.

With the throne, prophecy becomes administration.

Habakkuk 2:3

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time… though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come.”

Notice the language.

Appointed time.

The vision does not appear randomly.

The vision unfolds according to divine administration.

The Throne of God governs prophetic fulfillment.

The Throne of God governs prophetic timing.

The Throne of God governs prophetic manifestation.

Nothing arrives too early.

Nothing arrives too late.

Everything unfolds according to the wisdom of the throne.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE PLAN OF THE AGES

One of the greatest misunderstandings in Christianity is the confusion between completion and manifestation.

The Throne of God reveals the difference.

Ephesians 1:9-10

“Having made known unto us the mystery of his will… That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ.”

Notice the phrase:

“fulness of times.”

The Throne of God administers times.

The Throne of God administers ages.

The Throne of God administers dispensations.

The purpose is settled.

The manifestation unfolds.

The decree is complete.

The ages reveal it.

This is why the Plan of the Ages exists.

The Throne of God unfolds progressively what eternity already established.

THE THRONE OF GOD REIGNS ABOVE EVERY AGE

The Law came.

The Prophets came.

Christ came.

The Apostles came.

The Revelation came.

The ages changed.

The Throne of God remained unchanged.

Psalm 45:6

“Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever.”

The Throne of God existed before Moses.

The Throne of God existed before David.

The Throne of God existed before Rome.

The Throne of God existed before the Church Age.

The Throne of God exists beyond every age.

The throne governs the ages.

The ages do not govern the throne.

THE SIXTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD

Time does not govern the Throne of God.

The Throne of God governs time.

Revelation 1:8

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord.”

The Alpha is governed by the throne.

The Omega is governed by the throne.

Everything between Alpha and Omega is governed by the throne.

This is the sixth great revelation of the Throne of God.

The throne inhabits eternity.

The throne declares the end from the beginning.

The throne governs the ages.

The throne administers prophetic fulfillment.

The throne reveals its purpose through time.

History unfolds.

The ages progress.

Generations rise and fall.

Yet above them all stands the eternal Throne of God, administering a finished purpose until every decree is fully revealed.

CHAPTER 7

THE THRONE OF GOD — JUDGMENT DOES NOT DECIDE VICTORY

THE THRONE OF GOD DOES NOT JUDGE TO DISCOVER THE OUTCOME

One of the greatest misunderstandings concerning the Throne of God is the purpose of judgment.

Many believers view judgment as the moment when God finally determines who wins.

Scripture reveals something entirely different.

The Throne of God does not judge in order to discover the outcome.

The Throne of God judges because the outcome has already been determined.

Victory is not produced by judgment.

Victory precedes judgment.

Judgment administers what victory has already secured.

Isaiah 46:10

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.”

The Throne of God already knows the end.

The Throne of God already governs the outcome.

Judgment does not create God’s purpose.

Judgment executes God’s purpose.

THE THRONE OF GOD JUDGED SIN AT THE CROSS

The central judgment of Scripture occurred at Calvary.

The Throne of God did not postpone the judgment of sin to some future age.

The Throne of God executed judgment through Christ.

Romans 8:3

“God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.”

Notice what Scripture says.

God condemned sin.

Not merely sins.

Sin itself.

The power.

The nature.

The principle.

The Cross was not God delaying judgment.

The Cross was the Throne of God administering judgment.

The verdict has already been rendered.

THE THRONE OF GOD JUDGED THE RULER OF THIS WORLD

Jesus made a stunning declaration shortly before the Cross.

John 12:31

“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”

Notice the timing.

“Now.”

Not someday.

Not thousands of years later.

The Throne of God was already moving.

The Cross was not merely a sacrifice.

The Cross was a judgment.

The ruler of this world was judged.

The authority of darkness was exposed.

The verdict was announced by the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD EXPOSED THE POWERS OF DARKNESS

The Cross was not a defeat.

The Cross was a triumph.

Colossians 2:14-15

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us… and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

The language is judicial.

The language is governmental.

The language flows from the Throne of God.

The powers of darkness were not strengthened by the Cross.

They were exposed by the Cross.

They were judged by the Cross.

They were stripped by the Cross.

The victory did not await Revelation.

The victory was secured before Revelation.

The Throne of God administers what Christ accomplished.

THE THRONE OF GOD JUDGES THROUGH LIGHT

Many imagine judgment as primarily destruction.

Scripture often presents judgment as revelation.

Light itself becomes judgment.

John 3:19

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world.”

Notice the connection.

Light appears.

Darkness is exposed.

Truth arrives.

Deception is revealed.

The Throne of God judges by unveiling reality.

The closer creation moves toward truth, the more darkness loses its ability to hide.

This is why Revelation is called Revelation.

The Throne of God unveils.

The Throne of God exposes.

The Throne of God reveals.

Judgment is often the administration of light.

THE THRONE OF GOD JUDGES DEATH ITSELF

One of the most glorious truths in Scripture is that death itself comes under judgment.

Death is not eternal.

Death is not victorious.

Death is not preserved forever.

The Throne of God judges death.

1 Corinthians 15:26

“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”

Revelation 20:14

“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.”

The judgment flowing from the Throne of God is not designed to preserve death.

It is designed to remove death.

Death is not God’s partner.

Death is God’s enemy.

The administration of the Throne of God moves steadily toward the abolition of death itself.

THE THRONE OF GOD JUDGES TO RESTORE ORDER

Throughout Scripture, judgment restores divine order.

The Throne of God removes what opposes life.

The Throne of God exposes what opposes truth.

The Throne of God confronts what opposes righteousness.

Psalm 89:14

“Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne.”

Notice the connection.

Judgment proceeds from the throne.

Justice proceeds from the throne.

Administration proceeds from the throne.

Judgment is not random.

Judgment is governmental.

Judgment is administrative.

Judgment is purposeful.

The Throne of God judges because the Throne of God governs.

THE THRONE OF GOD DOES NOT JUDGE FROM ANGER

Human judgment often flows from emotion.

The judgment of the Throne of God flows from righteousness.

Psalm 97:2

“Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.”

The Throne of God does not lose control.

The Throne of God does not panic.

The Throne of God does not react emotionally.

The Throne of God administers according to wisdom.

Every judgment flows from divine purpose.

Every judgment serves divine administration.

Every judgment moves creation closer to alignment with life.

THE THRONE OF GOD ADMINISTERS A FINISHED VICTORY

The Book of Revelation does not reveal God trying to achieve victory.

The Book of Revelation reveals the Throne of God administering victory.

The Lamb has already overcome.

Revelation 5:5

“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda… hath prevailed.”

Notice the language.

“Hath prevailed.”

The victory already exists.

The triumph already exists.

The authority already exists.

The Throne of God administers what the Lamb has already secured.

Judgment does not decide who wins.

Judgment reveals who has already won.

THE SEVENTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD

Judgment does not decide victory.

The Throne of God already possesses victory.

Hebrews 2:14

“That through death he might destroy him that had the power of death.”

1 Corinthians 15:57

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

This is the seventh great revelation of the Throne of God.

The Cross secured victory.

The resurrection confirmed victory.

The ascension enthroned victory.

Revelation administers victory.

The Throne of God is not trying to overcome darkness.

The Throne of God is exposing darkness.

The Throne of God is not trying to defeat death.

The Throne of God is removing death.

The Throne of God is not trying to determine the outcome.

The outcome was settled before the foundation of the world.

Judgment simply unfolds the administration of that finished victory.

The throne has spoken.

The Lamb has prevailed.

And the victory is being revealed throughout the ages.

CHAPTER 8

THE THRONE OF GOD — THE THRONE IS NEVER NERVOUS

THE THRONE OF GOD NEVER PANICS

Men panic.

Governments panic.

Markets panic.

Religious systems panic.

The Throne of God never panics.

One of the most powerful revelations concerning the Throne of God is that heaven never enters crisis mode.

Nothing has ever occurred to God.

Nothing has ever surprised the Throne of God.

Nothing has ever forced the Throne of God to reconsider its purpose.

Nothing has ever threatened the authority of the Throne of God.

This is why Scripture continually presents God seated.

The posture of heaven is not anxiety.

The posture of heaven is rest.

Psalm 103:19

“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.”

Notice the phrase:

“ruleth over all.”

The Throne of God is not struggling to gain control.

The Throne of God already possesses control.

THE THRONE OF GOD SITS WHILE THE NATIONS RAGE

Human history is filled with turmoil.

Empires rise.

Empires fall.

Wars begin.

Wars end.

Nations boast.

Kings threaten.

Leaders make plans.

Yet Scripture reveals the response of the Throne of God.

Psalm 2:1-4

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves…

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh.”

Notice the contrast.

The nations rage.

The throne sits.

The kings worry.

The throne rests.

The rulers boast.

The throne remains established.

The Throne of God is not alarmed by the activity of men.

The Throne of God already knows the outcome.

THE THRONE OF GOD RULED BABYLON

Babylon appeared invincible.

Its walls were massive.

Its armies were powerful.

Its king believed himself untouchable.

Yet the Throne of God remained above Babylon.

Daniel 2:21

“He removeth kings, and setteth up kings.”

This is throne language.

Babylon did not determine its own future.

The Throne of God determined Babylon’s future.

Persia did not determine its own future.

The Throne of God determined Persia’s future.

Greece did not determine its own future.

The Throne of God determined Greece’s future.

Rome did not determine its own future.

The Throne of God determined Rome’s future.

The kingdoms worried.

The Throne of God remained at rest.

THE THRONE OF GOD NEVER FACES A CRISIS

A crisis exists when there is uncertainty.

A crisis exists when the outcome is unknown.

A crisis exists when there is no solution.

None of these conditions exist within the Throne of God.

Isaiah 46:9-10

“I am God, and there is none else…

Declaring the end from the beginning.”

The Throne of God already knows the end.

The Throne of God already possesses the solution.

The Throne of God already governs the outcome.

What men call a crisis, the Throne of God calls administration.

What men call confusion, the Throne of God calls unfolding.

What men call uncertainty, the Throne of God calls fulfillment.

THE THRONE OF GOD WAS NEVER THREATENED BY THE CROSS

To human eyes, Calvary appeared to be a disaster.

The disciples fled.

The crowds mocked.

The rulers celebrated.

Darkness covered the land.

Everything appeared lost.

Yet the Throne of God was never threatened.

Acts 2:23

“Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God.”

The Cross did not surprise heaven.

The Cross did not interrupt God’s plan.

The Cross did not threaten the Throne of God.

The Cross revealed the purpose of the Throne of God.

What appeared to be defeat became victory.

What appeared to be death became life.

What appeared to be failure became fulfillment.

The throne never panicked.

The throne was administering redemption.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS OCCUPIED

One of the most important revelations in Scripture is that Christ is seated.

Hebrews 10:12

“But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.”

Ephesians 1:20-21

“And set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion.”

Christ is not standing anxiously.

Christ is not waiting nervously.

Christ is not hoping for victory.

Christ is seated.

The Throne of God is occupied.

The work is complete.

The victory is secure.

The administration is active.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Many people approach the Book of Revelation with fear.

They see beasts.

They see judgments.

They see shaking.

They see upheaval.

But before Revelation reveals any of these things, it reveals the Throne of God.

Revelation 4:2

“And, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.”

Notice what John sees first.

Not the beast.

Not Babylon.

Not Armageddon.

Not judgment.

A throne.

Why?

Because the Throne of God is the context for everything else.

The Book of Revelation is not a story about evil gaining power.

It is a revelation of the Throne of God administering victory.

The throne appears first because the throne governs everything that follows.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND PRESENT FEARS

Every generation faces fears.

Economic fears.

Political fears.

Religious fears.

Personal fears.

Yet the answer remains the same.

See the throne.

Colossians 3:1-2

“Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

Set your affection on things above.”

Why?

Because perspective changes everything.

Fear grows when the throne is forgotten.

Peace grows when the throne is seen.

Confusion grows when men dominate our vision.

Rest grows when the Throne of God dominates our vision.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS THE SOURCE OF REST

The reason the Throne of God is never nervous is because the Throne of God rests in completed authority.

Hebrews 4:3

“For we which have believed do enter into rest.”

The rest of God is not inactivity.

The rest of God is confidence.

The rest of God is certainty.

The rest of God is the assurance that the purpose of the throne cannot fail.

The Throne of God rests because the decree is settled.

The Throne of God rests because the Lamb has prevailed.

The Throne of God rests because the outcome is secure.

THE EIGHTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD

The Throne of God is never nervous.

Revelation 5:13

“Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne.”

The One seated upon the throne is not worried.

The One seated upon the throne is not reacting.

The One seated upon the throne is reigning.

This is the eighth great revelation of the Throne of God.

The nations may rage.

The kingdoms may shake.

The earth may tremble.

The ages may unfold.

Yet above them all stands the eternal Throne of God.

The throne is occupied.

The throne is established.

The throne is administering a finished victory.

And because the Throne of God reigns, history is moving exactly where God has determined it shall go.

The throne is not nervous.

The throne is governing.

CHAPTER 9

THE THRONE OF GOD — CHRIST REIGNS NOW

THE THRONE OF GOD IS NOT WAITING TO REIGN

One of the greatest misunderstandings in Christianity is the belief that Christ’s reign belongs entirely to the future.

Many believers imagine a coming day when Christ will finally receive authority.

They imagine a future day when the Throne of God will finally begin to govern.

They imagine a future day when the Kingdom of God will finally begin to operate.

Scripture reveals something very different.

The Throne of God is reigning now.

Christ is reigning now.

The Kingdom is operating now.

The administration of the Throne of God is already in motion.

Matthew 28:18

“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

Notice the language.

Not some power.

Not future power.

Not promised power.

All power.

The authority of the Throne of God has already been vested in Christ.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS OCCUPIED

The New Testament repeatedly emphasizes one truth:

Christ is seated.

Hebrews 1:3

“When he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

Hebrews 10:12

“But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.”

The Throne of God is not vacant.

The Throne of God is occupied.

Christ is not standing as though the work remains unfinished.

Christ is seated because the work is complete.

Christ is seated because the victory is secure.

Christ is seated because the administration of the Throne of God has begun.

The throne is occupied because the Kingdom is active.

THE THRONE OF GOD REIGNS ABOVE ALL POWERS

Many believers fear powers and authorities operating in the earth.

Scripture reveals that Christ reigns above them all.

Ephesians 1:20-22

“And set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion…

And hath put all things under his feet.”

This is present-tense language.

Christ is not waiting to be exalted.

Christ has been exalted.

Christ is not hoping to receive authority.

Christ possesses authority.

The Throne of God has already placed all things beneath His feet.

The administration of that victory unfolds progressively, but the authority itself is already established.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE PRESENT KINGDOM

The Kingdom of God is not merely future.

The Kingdom of God is present.

Colossians 1:13

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”

Notice the language.

“Hath delivered.”

“Hath translated.”

The Kingdom is not merely coming.

The Kingdom is here.

The Throne of God is presently administering the Kingdom of Christ.

Believers do not wait to enter the Kingdom someday.

Believers have already been translated into the Kingdom through union with Christ.

The Kingdom exists because the Throne of God exists.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE HEADSHIP OF CHRIST

The reign of Christ is not limited to heaven.

The reign of Christ extends into His Body.

Ephesians 1:22-23

“And gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Which is his body.”

The Throne of God governs through Christ.

Christ governs through His Body.

This is one of the great mysteries of the Kingdom.

The enthroned Christ is not disconnected from His people.

The Head and the Body function together.

The administration of the Throne of God flows through union.

The authority of Christ is revealed through His people.

The government of God advances through the life of Christ manifested in His saints.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST

The Book of Revelation is not the revelation of future chaos.

It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:1

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him.”

The entire book centers upon the enthroned Christ.

The Lamb stands in the midst of the throne.

Revelation 5:6

“And, lo, in the midst of the throne… stood a Lamb as it had been slain.”

The Lamb is not approaching the throne.

The Lamb is in the throne.

The Lamb is not seeking authority.

The Lamb possesses authority.

The Book of Revelation unveils the administration of the Throne of God through the victorious Lamb.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND PRESENT ADMINISTRATION

Many believers understand the Finished Work but struggle to understand administration.

The victory is finished.

The administration continues.

Revelation 5:7

“And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.”

The scroll represents administration.

The Lamb opens the seals.

The Lamb directs the process.

The Lamb governs the unfolding.

The Throne of God is not trying to achieve victory.

The Throne of God is administering victory.

This distinction is essential.

The Cross secured the outcome.

The throne administers the outcome.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE INCREASE OF THE KINGDOM

The Kingdom does not diminish.

The Kingdom increases.

Isaiah 9:7

“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end.”

Notice the words:

“government”

“peace”

“increase”

The government of the Throne of God is expanding.

The peace of the Kingdom is expanding.

The revelation of Christ is expanding.

The administration of the Throne of God continues moving creation toward divine purpose.

The Kingdom is not retreating.

The Kingdom is advancing.

The throne is not losing ground.

The throne is increasing its manifestation.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE PRESENT REIGN OF THE SAINTS

The reign of Christ ultimately includes His people.

Revelation 5:10

“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

The purpose of the Throne of God is not merely to reveal a reigning Christ.

It is to reveal a reigning Christ through a transformed people.

The administration of the Kingdom extends through sons who have been united with the enthroned Christ.

The reign of Christ becomes visible through the life of Christ manifested in His saints.

This is why the revelation of sonship is inseparable from the revelation of the throne.

THE NINTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD

Christ reigns now.

Revelation 3:21

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne.”

The throne is present.

The reign is present.

The authority is present.

The Kingdom is present.

This is the ninth great revelation of the Throne of God.

The Cross is finished.

The Lamb is enthroned.

The Kingdom is active.

The administration is unfolding.

The government is increasing.

The saints are being prepared.

And the Throne of God is presently administering a finished victory throughout the ages.

Christ is not waiting to reign.

Christ reigns now.

The throne is occupied.

The Kingdom is advancing.

And history continues to move beneath the administration of the eternal Throne of God.

CHAPTER 10

THE THRONE OF GOD — GOD ALL IN ALL

THE THRONE OF GOD HAS ALWAYS MOVED TOWARD FULNESS

The purpose of the Throne of God has never been merely to begin creation.

The purpose of the Throne of God has always been to bring creation into fullness.

From Genesis to Revelation, the story remains remarkably consistent.

God begins.

God governs.

God reveals.

God restores.

God completes.

The Throne of God does not operate without purpose.

The Throne of God moves every age toward a predetermined destination.

That destination is revealed by Paul in one of the most breathtaking statements in all of Scripture.

1 Corinthians 15:28

“That God may be all in all.”

This is not merely the conclusion of a chapter.

This is the conclusion of the ages.

This is the destination of the administration of the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS GATHERING ALL THINGS INTO CHRIST

Paul reveals the mystery hidden from ages.

Ephesians 1:9-10

“Having made known unto us the mystery of his will…

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ.”

Notice the language.

“All things.”

The administration of the Throne of God is not moving toward fragmentation.

The administration of the Throne of God is moving toward unity.

The Throne of God gathers.

The Throne of God restores.

The Throne of God reconciles.

The Throne of God brings all things into their proper relationship with Christ.

The story begins in Genesis with separation.

The story ends in Revelation with union.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS RESTORING CREATION

The purpose of the Throne of God extends beyond individual salvation.

The administration of the Throne of God reaches creation itself.

Romans 8:19-21

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God…

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption.”

Creation waits.

Creation groans.

Creation anticipates.

Why?

Because the Throne of God has already decreed restoration.

The creation that was subjected to vanity will be delivered from vanity.

The creation touched by corruption will be delivered from corruption.

The administration of the Throne of God is moving creation toward liberty.

THE THRONE OF GOD IS SUBDUING ALL THINGS

The reign of Christ is not passive.

The reign of Christ is active.

1 Corinthians 15:25

“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”

The Throne of God is progressively bringing all things beneath the authority of Christ.

This does not describe uncertainty.

This describes certainty.

The reign of Christ continues until every enemy is subdued.

Every lie.

Every darkness.

Every corruption.

Every opposing authority.

Everything eventually bows before the administration of the Throne of God.

THE THRONE OF GOD WILL DESTROY DEATH

The final enemy is identified clearly.

1 Corinthians 15:26

“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”

Death is not the final victor.

Death is not the final reality.

Death is not the final chapter.

The Throne of God has already issued its verdict against death.

Revelation 20:14

“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.”

The administration of the Throne of God moves relentlessly toward life.

The Kingdom is a Kingdom of life.

The reign of Christ is a reign of life.

The purpose of God is life.

Death is temporary.

Life is eternal.

THE THRONE OF GOD AND THE RECONCILIATION OF ALL THINGS

The Cross reaches farther than most people imagine.

Colossians 1:19-20

“For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself.”

Notice again:

“All things.”

The administration of the Throne of God flows from the reconciling work of Christ.

The Cross was not merely about forgiveness.

The Cross was about reconciliation.

The Cross was about restoration.

The Cross was about bringing creation back into harmony with the purpose of God.

The Throne of God administers the victory of reconciliation throughout the ages.

THE THRONE OF GOD ENDS WITH A RIVER

The Book of Revelation does not end with destruction.

It ends with life.

Revelation 22:1

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life… proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”

Notice the source.

The river proceeds from the Throne of God.

Life flows from the throne.

Healing flows from the throne.

Restoration flows from the throne.

The final picture of Scripture is not devastation.

The final picture is life flowing from the Throne of God into creation.

THE THRONE OF GOD COMPLETES ITS PURPOSE

Everything that begins in God ends in God.

Philippians 1:6

“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

The Throne of God completes what it begins.

The throne does not fail.

The throne does not abandon.

The throne does not retreat.

The throne fulfills.

Every promise.

Every covenant.

Every decree.

Every purpose.

Everything moves toward fulfillment.

THE TENTH GREAT REVELATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD

The final revelation of the Throne of God is this:

The throne is moving all things toward God all in all.

Revelation 11:15

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:28

“That God may be all in all.”

The Throne of God began before history.

The Throne of God governed every age.

The Throne of God revealed the Cross.

The Throne of God enthroned Christ.

The Throne of God administered the Kingdom.

And the Throne of God will bring creation into its appointed fullness.

History is not moving toward uncertainty.

History is moving toward fulfillment.

The Lamb reigns.

The Kingdom increases.

Life triumphs.

The river flows.

And the administration of the Throne of God continues until God becomes all in all.

CONCLUSION

THE THRONE HAS NEVER BEEN VACANT

From Genesis to Revelation, one testimony rises above every age, every kingdom, every prophecy, every judgment, and every event:

The Throne of God has never been vacant.

Before the foundations of the world were laid, the Throne of God was established.

Before the stars filled the heavens, the Throne of God was established.

Before Adam walked in Eden, the Throne of God was established.

Before sin entered creation, the Throne of God was established.

Before the Lamb was revealed in time, the Lamb was known within the counsel of the Throne of God.

This has been the great revelation of this book.

God is not reacting to history.

God is directing history.

Psalm 103:19

“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.”

The Kingdom of God does not rise and fall with earthly governments.

The Kingdom of God does not tremble when nations tremble.

The Kingdom of God does not weaken when darkness appears strong.

The Throne of God remains established.

The Throne of God remains sovereign.

The Throne of God remains victorious.

Throughout these pages we have seen that history unfolds what eternity settled.

The ages reveal what the throne decreed.

The Cross revealed what the throne established before the foundation of the world.

Christ reigns because the throne has given Him all authority.

Judgment unfolds because the throne administers a finished victory.

The Kingdom advances because the throne governs all things.

The future is not uncertain.

The future is administered.

Isaiah 46:10

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.”

The Throne of God never discovers the future.

The Throne of God declares the future.

The Throne of God never reacts to events.

The Throne of God governs events.

The Throne of God never learns.

The Throne of God knows.

The Throne of God never panics.

The Throne of God reigns.

This is why the believer can rest.

Our confidence is not found in governments.

Our confidence is not found in economies.

Our confidence is not found in religious systems.

Our confidence is not found in earthly power.

Our confidence is found in the One who sits upon the throne.

Revelation 4:2

“And, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.”

Notice that John’s revelation begins with a throne.

Before he sees beasts, he sees a throne.

Before he sees Babylon, he sees a throne.

Before he sees judgments, he sees a throne.

Before he sees the New Jerusalem, he sees a throne.

The throne is the context for everything else.

The throne explains everything else.

The throne governs everything else.

The Book of Revelation is not primarily a revelation of evil.

It is a Revelation of Jesus Christ administering the purpose of the Throne of God.

Revelation 5:13

“Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”

The Lamb reigns.

The Kingdom advances.

The government increases.

The purpose unfolds.

The ages reveal.

The victory manifests.

And history continues moving exactly where the Throne of God has determined it shall go.

Finally, we arrive at the destination of the ages.

1 Corinthians 15:28

“That God may be all in all.”

This is the final testimony of the Throne of God.

The throne began the story.

The throne governs the story.

The throne completes the story.

The river proceeds from the throne.

Life proceeds from the throne.

Healing proceeds from the throne.

Restoration proceeds from the throne.

And when every age has fulfilled its purpose, every enemy has been subdued, every promise has been manifested, and every decree has been revealed, the testimony of heaven and earth shall remain forever:

The Throne of God was never threatened.

The Throne of God was never surprised.

The Throne of God was never defeated.

The Throne of God was never vacant.

Revelation 22:3

“The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.”

The throne remains.

The Lamb reigns.

The Kingdom stands.

The purpose succeeds.

History fulfills its assignment.

And God is all in all.

The Throne of God has never been vacant.

And it never will be.
