THE TWO SEEDS: Learning to Discern the Corruptible from the Incorruptible
For more than four decades, Carl Timothy Wray has devoted himself to the study of the Scriptures with one desire: to reveal Jesus Christ through the full counsel of God. His teaching follows the progressive revelation of God’s eternal purpose from Genesis to Revelation, allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture while keeping Christ at the center of every truth.
In THE TWO SEEDS: The Corruptible and the Incorruptible, Wray examines one of the Bible’s most important themes—the contrast between the corruptible and the incorruptible. By tracing these two realities throughout the Scriptures, he demonstrates how Jesus Christ reveals, exposes, separates, and ultimately overcomes everything that belongs to corruption, while bringing forth the incorruptible life of God’s eternal kingdom. This book equips believers to discern the difference between the old creation and the new creation, the earthly and the heavenly, and the first Adam and the last Adam through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
THE TWO SEEDS: The Corruptible and the Incorruptible is a comprehensive biblical study that follows the two seeds from Genesis to Revelation, revealing the contrast between the corruptible and the incorruptible through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Discover how Scripture distinguishes the first Adam from the last Adam, the earthly from the heavenly, the flesh from the Spirit, and Babylon from New Jerusalem. By allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture, this book helps readers develop biblical discernment and understand God’s eternal purpose through the full counsel of His Word.

Introduction
From the opening chapters of Genesis to the closing chapters of Revelation, the Scriptures consistently reveal two distinct orders. One belongs to the corruptible; the other belongs to the incorruptible. One is earthly, temporary, and subject to death. The other is heavenly, eternal, and filled with the life of God. These two realities form one of the great themes that runs throughout the entire Bible.
The purpose of this book is to teach believers how to discern these two orders through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Rather than viewing the Scriptures as a collection of disconnected stories, we will follow a single thread that begins in Genesis and reaches its glorious fulfillment in Christ and His eternal kingdom.
Throughout this study, we will discover that every major contrast in Scripture points to this great distinction. The first Adam is contrasted with the last Adam. The earthly man is contrasted with the heavenly Man. Flesh is contrasted with Spirit. Death is contrasted with life. Babylon is contrasted with New Jerusalem. Everywhere the Scriptures unfold, God is revealing the difference between that which is corruptible and that which is incorruptible.
This revelation is not given merely to increase knowledge. It is given so that God’s people may develop spiritual discernment. As believers grow in Christ, they learn to distinguish between what belongs to the old creation and what belongs to the new creation. They learn to recognize the temporary and the eternal, the natural and the spiritual, the shadow and the substance.
Above all, this book is about Jesus Christ. He is the perfect revelation of the incorruptible life of God. In Him the old gives way to the new, corruption gives way to incorruption, mortality gives way to immortality, and death is swallowed up in victory. Every chapter of this book points to Him, for He alone is the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.
May the Holy Spirit grant every reader wisdom, understanding, and discernment as together we follow the testimony of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation and behold the glory of Jesus Christ.

CHAPTER ONE
THE CORRUPTIBLE AND THE INCORRUPTIBLE
The Foundation of the Two Seeds
THE TWO SEEDS ARE INTRODUCED IN THE GARDEN
Genesis 2:16–17
“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
The revelation of the two seeds begins in the Garden of Eden. Before there were nations, covenants, prophets, or kings, God established a pattern that would unfold throughout the entire Scriptures. In the midst of the garden stood two trees. One pointed to life, while the other introduced the knowledge that would result in death.
This was not merely the history of Adam. It was the beginning of God’s progressive revelation. From this moment forward, the Scriptures continually reveal two distinct orders: one that belongs to corruption and death, and another that belongs to life and incorruption.
The Garden of Eden becomes the foundation upon which the whole counsel of God is built.
THE ENMITY BETWEEN THE TWO SEEDS
Genesis 3:15
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
After the fall, God introduces one of the greatest prophetic declarations in all of Scripture. For the first time, the Bible speaks plainly of two seeds.
These two seeds become a thread that runs from Genesis to Revelation. Throughout history they are manifested through two kingdoms, two cities, two covenants, two men, and ultimately two creations.
One seed belongs to corruption.
The other belongs to incorruption.
One produces death.
The other brings life.
From this point forward, the Bible is teaching us to discern the difference.
THE INCORRUPTIBLE SEED IS REVEALED IN CHRIST
1 Peter 1:23
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
Peter brings the revelation of Genesis into the light of Jesus Christ.
The new birth is not the improvement of the corruptible seed. It is the impartation of the incorruptible life of God through His living Word.
Everything born of Adam belongs to the old creation.
Everything born of Christ belongs to the new creation.
This is why Jesus declared,
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
The incorruptible seed introduces an entirely new order of life. It is heavenly rather than earthly, eternal rather than temporary, and spiritual rather than natural.
THE PURPOSE OF DISCERNMENT
Hebrews 5:14
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
God never reveals truth merely to satisfy curiosity.
He reveals truth so His people may grow in discernment.
Spiritual maturity is measured by the ability to distinguish one thing from another according to the mind of Christ.
Throughout the Scriptures, God continually teaches His people to discern.
Light from darkness.
Truth from error.
Spirit from flesh.
The earthly from the heavenly.
The corruptible from the incorruptible.
Every contrast in the Bible strengthens this spiritual discernment until believers are able to recognize the ways of God through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
THE CORRUPTIBLE MUST PUT ON INCORRUPTION
1 Corinthians 15:53–54
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”
Paul brings the entire revelation to its glorious conclusion.
The Bible does not begin with corruption and end with corruption.
It begins with corruption and ends with incorruption.
It begins with death and ends with life.
It begins with the first Adam and ends with the Last Adam reigning over a new creation.
Everything that God has been revealing throughout the Scriptures moves toward this one glorious purpose: the triumph of the incorruptible life of Jesus Christ.
The victory of Christ is not merely the forgiveness of sins. It is the complete triumph of His incorruptible life over everything that belongs to corruption and death.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE REVELATION OF THE INCORRUPTIBLE
John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Every chapter of this book will lead us to one person.
Jesus Christ.
He is the perfect revelation of the incorruptible Seed.
In Him we behold the life that cannot perish.
In Him we see the fulfillment of every promise.
In Him the old creation gives way to the new creation.
In Him death is overcome by life.
In Him corruption is swallowed up by incorruption.
As we journey from Genesis to Revelation, every contrast will ultimately point us to Him. He is the center of the Scriptures, the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose, and the perfect manifestation of the incorruptible life of God.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Bible introduces two distinct orders that unfold throughout the whole counsel of God: the corruptible and the incorruptible. Beginning in the Garden of Eden and culminating in the revelation of Jesus Christ, the Scriptures progressively teach believers to discern these two realities. Every major biblical contrast serves this purpose, revealing that God’s eternal plan is to bring the incorruptible life of His Son into full manifestation. This foundation prepares us to follow the two seeds through every major theme of Scripture until all things are summed up in Christ.
CHAPTER TWO
THE FIRST ADAM AND THE LAST ADAM
The Beginning of Two Orders
THE FIRST MAN WAS FORMED OF THE DUST
Genesis 2:7
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
The first Adam marks the beginning of the first creation. He was formed from the dust of the earth and placed within a world that was subject to change. Though created upright, Adam belonged to an order that could be tempted, tested, and ultimately experience corruption through disobedience.
The first Adam became the federal head of the natural creation. What flowed from him was after his own kind. His descendants inherited a mortal condition, and through him the effects of sin and death spread throughout humanity.
The Scriptures never leave us with Adam alone. From the very beginning, God was revealing a greater Man who would fulfill His eternal purpose.
THE LAST ADAM IS JESUS CHRIST
1 Corinthians 15:45
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”
Paul reveals that Jesus Christ is not merely another man in Adam’s line. He is the Last Adam—the beginning of an entirely new order.
The first Adam received life.
The Last Adam gives life.
The first Adam introduced a race marked by mortality.
The Last Adam introduces a new creation marked by His resurrection life.
Everything that begins in Adam is temporary.
Everything that begins in Christ is eternal.
The contrast is not between two individuals alone; it is between two creations, two administrations, and two orders of life.
THROUGH ONE MAN CAME DEATH
Romans 5:12
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
Paul traces the entrance of death to one man.
Adam’s transgression affected the entire human family.
Death became the universal testimony of the first creation.
The corruption introduced through Adam spread throughout the earth, demonstrating that the first order could never bring God’s eternal purpose to completion.
The law exposed this condition.
The prophets testified of its remedy.
The promises looked beyond it.
All of Scripture points beyond the first Adam to the One who would overcome what Adam introduced.
THROUGH ONE MAN CAME LIFE
Romans 5:17
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
Where Adam’s act resulted in death reigning, Christ’s finished work results in life reigning.
Notice the language of Paul.
Death reigned.
Now life reigns.
Grace is not merely the cancellation of guilt.
Grace introduces believers into the reign of the life of Christ.
The kingdom established by Jesus Christ is founded upon His incorruptible life, not upon the weakness of the first creation.
THE IMAGE OF THE EARTHLY AND THE IMAGE OF THE HEAVENLY
1 Corinthians 15:47–49
“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven… And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.”
The first Adam bore the image of the earth.
The Last Adam reveals the image of heaven.
This is one of the great themes of redemption.
God’s purpose is not simply to forgive those who bear Adam’s image.
His purpose is to conform His people to the image of His Son.
Throughout the Scriptures, this transition is progressively revealed. The shadows anticipate it. The prophets proclaim it. The Gospels reveal it. The Epistles explain it. The Book of Revelation celebrates its completion.
The movement of Scripture is always from the earthly toward the heavenly through Jesus Christ.
THE LAST ADAM BEGINS THE NEW CREATION
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
The new creation does not begin with human effort.
It begins in Christ.
The Last Adam inaugurates a creation that is no longer defined by the limitations of the first.
In Him there is new life.
In Him there is a new identity.
In Him there is a new humanity.
Everything that belongs to the old creation finds its fulfillment and completion in Him.
The Last Adam is not repairing the first creation—He is bringing forth the new.
JESUS CHRIST IS GOD’S ETERNAL MAN
Ephesians 1:9–10
“Having made known unto us the mystery of his will… That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ…”
From Genesis to Revelation, God is moving history toward one glorious Person.
Jesus Christ is the center of God’s eternal purpose.
The first Adam points to Him.
The sacrifices point to Him.
The priesthood points to Him.
The kingdom points to Him.
Every promise finds its fulfillment in Him.
The Last Adam is not simply the answer to Adam’s failure. He is the revelation of God’s eternal purpose before the foundation of the world. In Him, the corruptible gives way to the incorruptible, the earthly gives way to the heavenly, and the first creation gives way to the new creation that will endure forever.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Scriptures reveal two representative men who stand at the head of two distinct orders. The first Adam introduces the natural creation, mortality, and the reign of death. The Last Adam, Jesus Christ, introduces the new creation, incorruptible life, and the reign of grace. From Genesis to Revelation, God progressively reveals that His eternal purpose is fulfilled not through the first man, but through the Last Adam, in whom all things are made new.
CHAPTER THREE
THE EARTHLY MAN AND THE HEAVENLY MAN
Bearing the Image of Two Creations
THE FIRST MAN IS OF THE EARTH
1 Corinthians 15:47
“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
The Apostle Paul reveals another great contrast that runs throughout the whole counsel of God. He does not merely compare two individuals; he reveals two entirely different orders of humanity.
The first man is earthly.
The second Man is heavenly.
The earthly man belongs to the first creation. His origin is the dust of the ground, his life is natural, and his body is subject to corruption. Everything associated with the earthly man bears the characteristics of the creation from which he came.
The heavenly Man is Jesus Christ.
His life is not derived from the earth but from the Father. He reveals the life of heaven upon the earth and becomes the Head of a new creation that can never perish.
Throughout the Scriptures, God continually contrasts these two orders until every believer learns to discern the difference.
THE EARTHLY MAN BEARS THE IMAGE OF ADAM
Genesis 5:3
“And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth.”
After the fall, Adam’s descendants were born in his likeness.
They inherited his mortality.
They inherited his weakness.
They inherited a creation subject to corruption.
Generation after generation, the image of the earthly man spread throughout the earth.
This explains why the Scriptures continually testify that all flesh is temporary.
Everything born of the first creation bears the marks of the first man.
THE HEAVENLY MAN REVEALS THE IMAGE OF GOD
Colossians 1:15
“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.”
Jesus Christ is the perfect revelation of the Father.
He does not merely teach the image of God.
He is the image of God.
Everything the Father desires to reveal concerning Himself is manifested perfectly in His Son.
When we behold Jesus Christ, we behold the heavenly Man exactly as God intended humanity to be.
He is holy.
He is righteous.
He is incorruptible.
He is filled with the life of the Father.
The heavenly Man becomes God’s pattern for the new creation.
WE HAVE BORNE THE IMAGE OF THE EARTHLY
1 Corinthians 15:49
“And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.”
Paul speaks of both our past and our future.
Every person has borne the image of the earthly.
That image is marked by mortality.
Weakness.
Limitation.
Corruption.
But the promise of God reaches far beyond Adam.
Those who are in Christ are being conformed to the image of the heavenly.
This is not merely a change in conduct.
It is God’s eternal purpose unfolding through Jesus Christ.
The work of redemption moves believers from the image of the earthly into the image of the heavenly.
THE HEAVENLY MAN IS THE PATTERN OF THE NEW CREATION
Romans 8:29
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.”
God’s purpose has never been merely to rescue mankind from judgment.
His eternal purpose is conformity to His Son.
The heavenly Man is the pattern.
He is the standard.
He is the measure.
Every work of the Holy Spirit moves believers toward greater conformity to Jesus Christ.
From Genesis to Revelation, this is the direction of redemption.
The earthly gives way to the heavenly.
The old gives way to the new.
The corruptible gives way to the incorruptible.
THE NEW MAN IS CREATED AFTER GOD
Ephesians 4:22–24
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man… And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Paul describes two men living in complete contrast.
The old man belongs to Adam.
The new man belongs to Christ.
The old man is characterized by corruption.
The new man is characterized by righteousness.
The old man follows deceitful lusts.
The new man reflects the holiness of God.
This is the great transition that every believer discovers throughout the New Testament.
The Christian life is not the improvement of the old man.
It is the continual revelation of the new man in Christ.
THE HEAVENLY MAN IS REVEALED IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Revelation 1:13–16
“And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man…”
The Book of Revelation does not conclude with Adam.
It concludes with Christ.
John beholds the glorified Son of Man walking in the midst of the candlesticks.
He is clothed with heavenly glory.
His eyes are like a flame of fire.
His countenance shines as the sun.
Everything about this vision declares that the heavenly Man has overcome every effect of corruption.
The One who was revealed in humility during the Gospels is now revealed in glory as the Lord of heaven and earth.
The Book of Revelation continually directs our attention away from the first man and fixes our eyes upon the heavenly Man who reigns forever.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE PERFECT HEAVENLY MAN
Philippians 3:20–21
“For our conversation is in heaven… Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body.”
The hope of every believer is found in Jesus Christ.
He is the perfect heavenly Man.
He reveals what humanity becomes through the purpose of God.
He is the firstfruits of the new creation.
He is the Head of a redeemed people.
He is the pattern after which the family of God is being conformed.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Scriptures proclaim one glorious truth:
The first man was of the earth.
The second Man is the Lord from heaven.
God’s eternal purpose is that His people should bear the image of His Son and share in the incorruptible life of the heavenly Man.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Bible reveals two representative images that define two distinct orders: the earthly man and the heavenly Man. The earthly man, descended from Adam, bears the marks of corruption, mortality, and the first creation. The heavenly Man, Jesus Christ, perfectly reveals the image of God and stands as the Head of the new creation. From Genesis to Revelation, God’s purpose is to conform His people to the image of His Son, moving them from the earthly to the heavenly, from corruption to incorruption, and from the first creation into the fullness of the new creation in Christ.
CHAPTER FOUR
FLESH AND SPIRIT
Discerning Two Natures
THE FLESH AND THE SPIRIT ARE CONTRARY ONE TO ANOTHER
Galatians 5:16–17
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other…”
One of the greatest contrasts revealed in the Scriptures is the distinction between the flesh and the Spirit. This contrast is not merely about human behavior; it reveals two completely different orders of life.
The flesh belongs to the corruptible.
The Spirit belongs to the incorruptible.
The flesh looks to the earthly.
The Spirit reveals the heavenly.
From Genesis to Revelation, God continually teaches His people to discern between these two natures. Every believer must learn that the life of Adam and the life of Christ cannot be confused. They are contrary one to another because they proceed from two entirely different sources.
THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE FLESH IS FLESH
John 3:5–6
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
Jesus reveals that every birth produces after its own kind.
The flesh produces flesh.
The Spirit produces spirit.
The corruptible cannot produce the incorruptible.
Neither can the incorruptible be born through the strength of the flesh.
The new birth is entirely the work of God.
It is the introduction of a new life, a new nature, and a new creation through Jesus Christ.
This is why the Gospel is not the improvement of Adam.
It is the revelation of Christ.
TO BE CARNALLY MINDED IS DEATH
Romans 8:5–6
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
Paul shifts our attention from outward actions to inward thinking.
The flesh has a mind.
The Spirit has a mind.
The carnal mind is governed by the old creation.
The mind of the Spirit is governed by the life of Christ.
Throughout the Scriptures, God is transforming His people by renewing their minds.
As the mind is renewed through the revelation of Jesus Christ, believers increasingly discern the difference between the corruptible and the incorruptible.
Life follows the Spirit.
Death follows the flesh.
THE WORKS OF THE FLESH ARE MADE MANIFEST
Galatians 5:19–23
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest…”
Paul lists the works of the flesh before revealing the fruit of the Spirit.
This order is significant.
God first exposes corruption.
Then He reveals His life.
The works of the flesh manifest the character of the first creation.
The fruit of the Spirit manifests the character of Christ.
The flesh produces division.
The Spirit produces unity.
The flesh produces fear.
The Spirit produces peace.
The flesh seeks its own glory.
The Spirit glorifies Christ.
As we grow in discernment, these two manifestations become increasingly clear.
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT REVEALS THE INCORRUPTIBLE LIFE
Galatians 5:22–23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance…”
Notice that Paul speaks of fruit, not fruits.
The Spirit produces one life expressed in many beautiful ways.
This fruit is not manufactured by human effort.
It is the manifestation of the life of Christ within His people.
The incorruptible life always reveals the character of its source.
Where Christ reigns, His nature is revealed.
Love replaces hatred.
Peace replaces fear.
Joy replaces despair.
Gentleness replaces violence.
The Spirit continually manifests the life of the heavenly Man.
THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE
2 Corinthians 3:6
“…for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
Throughout the whole counsel of God, life is always found in the Spirit.
The flesh depends upon outward strength.
The Spirit imparts inward life.
The law exposed man’s inability.
Grace reveals Christ’s sufficiency.
The letter reveals the need.
The Spirit reveals the fulfillment.
This is why Jesus declared,
“The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)
Every revelation that leads us to Christ ministers life because the Spirit always glorifies the Son.
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT REVEALS THE NEW CREATION
Romans 8:14
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
The Spirit does more than comfort believers.
He leads them.
He teaches them.
He conforms them to Christ.
Walking in the Spirit is the progressive revelation of the new creation.
The believer learns to think differently.
To love differently.
To discern differently.
To live differently.
Not because the flesh has improved, but because the life of Christ is being manifested.
The Spirit continually reveals the incorruptible life that has been given through Jesus Christ.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE LIFE OF THE SPIRIT
John 6:63
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
Jesus brings every contrast to its proper conclusion.
The flesh profits nothing.
The Spirit gives life.
Every page of Scripture moves toward this revelation.
The first creation cannot produce what belongs to the new creation.
Only Jesus Christ can impart the incorruptible life of God.
As we follow the testimony of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation, we discover that the Holy Spirit continually turns our eyes away from confidence in the flesh and fixes them upon Christ, who is our life.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Scriptures reveal two opposing natures that run throughout the whole counsel of God: the flesh and the Spirit. The flesh belongs to the corruptible order of the first creation, while the Spirit reveals the incorruptible life of the new creation in Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, God teaches His people to discern these two realities so they may walk in the Spirit, bear the fruit of Christ, and manifest the life of the heavenly Man. The more clearly believers behold Christ, the more fully the incorruptible life of the Spirit is revealed through them.
CHAPTER FIVE
DEATH AND LIFE
The Great Contrast of God’s Eternal Purpose
DEATH ENTERED BY ONE MAN
Romans 5:12
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.”
One of the greatest revelations in the Scriptures is the contrast between death and life. Death was never God’s eternal purpose for His creation. It entered through the disobedience of the first Adam and spread throughout the human family.
Death became the testimony of the corruptible creation.
Every funeral.
Every grave.
Every tear.
Every sorrow.
Every reminder of mortality bears witness that the first creation cannot inherit the fullness of God’s eternal purpose.
Yet from the very beginning, God promised that death would not have the final word. Even in the garden, He was revealing a coming Seed who would destroy the works of the devil and bring everlasting life.
From Genesis forward, the Scriptures point beyond death to the triumph of life in Jesus Christ.
I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU LIFE AND DEATH
Deuteronomy 30:19–20
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life…”
Throughout the Old Testament, God continually places life and death before His people.
These are more than two possible outcomes.
They represent two kingdoms.
Two orders.
Two ways.
The way of death follows the wisdom of the first Adam.
The way of life follows the wisdom of God.
Every command, every promise, and every covenant prepares the way for the One who would become the life of the world.
Even under the law, God was directing His people toward life.
The law revealed man’s inability.
Christ would reveal God’s provision.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE LIFE
John 11:25–26
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
Jesus never merely offered life.
He declared Himself to be Life.
This is the great distinction between the first Adam and the Last Adam.
Adam received life.
Jesus is Life.
Everything that is separated from Christ remains under the sentence of death.
Everything united to Christ partakes of His incorruptible life.
When Jesus stood before the tomb of Lazarus, He demonstrated that life is greater than death because He Himself is the Author of life.
His resurrection was not simply a miracle.
It was the revelation of God’s eternal purpose.
THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Paul presents the Gospel in one magnificent contrast.
Death is earned.
Life is given.
Death is the wage of the old creation.
Life is the gift of the new creation.
Everything belonging to Adam leads toward death.
Everything belonging to Christ leads toward everlasting life.
This eternal life is not merely endless existence.
It is the very life of God revealed through His Son.
The Gospel is the announcement that God’s life has entered the world through Jesus Christ.
THE LAST ENEMY IS DEATH
1 Corinthians 15:25–26
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
Death is called an enemy because it stands contrary to God’s purpose.
God never created mankind to remain under its dominion.
Christ reigns until every enemy is subdued.
The last enemy is death itself.
This reveals the direction of redemption.
The kingdom of God is continually advancing.
Every victory of Christ moves history toward the complete overthrow of death.
The reign of Christ is the reign of life.
Where Christ reigns, death ultimately loses its power.
DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY
1 Corinthians 15:53–54
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality… Death is swallowed up in victory.”
Paul reaches the climax of his resurrection message.
Death is not merely delayed.
Death is swallowed up.
The corruptible gives way to the incorruptible.
Mortality gives way to immortality.
The victory of Christ is complete.
What began in Genesis with death entering through one man reaches its glorious conclusion as death is forever overcome through one Man, Jesus Christ.
This is the hope toward which the entire Bible moves.
THERE SHALL BE NO MORE DEATH
Revelation 21:1–4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
The Book of Revelation reveals the fulfillment of every promise.
The Bible begins with death entering creation.
It ends with death removed from creation.
The former things pass away.
All things become new.
The New Jerusalem stands as the testimony that the incorruptible has overcome the corruptible forever.
This is the glorious hope of God’s eternal kingdom.
Everything that belonged to the first creation has passed away.
Everything that remains belongs to Christ.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE VICTORY OVER DEATH
John 14:6
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life…”
Every road in Scripture leads to Jesus Christ.
He is the fulfillment of every promise.
He is the resurrection.
He is eternal life.
He is the One who destroys death by His own death and triumphs over the grave by His resurrection.
From Genesis to Revelation, the testimony never changes.
Death belongs to the corruptible.
Life belongs to the incorruptible.
Jesus Christ is the perfect revelation of that incorruptible life.
In Him, death has lost its sting, the grave has lost its victory, and the eternal purpose of God stands complete.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
From the entrance of death through the first Adam to its final destruction under the reign of Jesus Christ, the Scriptures reveal a consistent contrast between death and life. Death belongs to the corruptible order of the first creation, while life belongs to the incorruptible order established through the Last Adam. Throughout the whole counsel of God, every promise points toward the day when death will be swallowed up in victory, all things will be made new, and the eternal life of Jesus Christ will fill the new creation forever.
CHAPTER SIX
THE NATURAL MIND AND THE MIND OF CHRIST
Learning to Think According to the Spirit
THE FALL BEGAN WITH THE MIND
Genesis 3:1–6
“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes… she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat…”
The battle between the corruptible and the incorruptible is not first fought in the hands but in the mind.
Before Adam ever stretched forth his hand, the serpent sought to influence the way man thought about God.
The enemy first questioned God’s Word.
Then he questioned God’s character.
Finally, he offered another way of thinking.
The corruption of mankind began with a corrupted mind.
This pattern continues throughout the Scriptures. Every departure from God begins with a departure from His truth, while every restoration begins with the revelation of His Word.
The battle for the heart begins with the battle for the mind.
THE CARNAL MIND CANNOT PLEASE GOD
Romans 8:5–8
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh… Because the carnal mind is enmity against God…”
Paul reveals that there are two completely different ways of thinking.
The natural mind.
The mind of Christ.
The carnal mind belongs to the corruptible order.
It measures life according to the wisdom of the flesh.
It trusts what it sees.
It depends upon human strength.
It cannot comprehend the things of the Spirit because its foundation is the first creation.
The mind governed by the Spirit belongs to another kingdom altogether.
It sees through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
It rests in the wisdom of God rather than the wisdom of man.
MY THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS
Isaiah 55:8–9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”
Throughout the Scriptures, God continually calls His people to leave behind natural reasoning and learn His ways.
The thoughts of fallen humanity are limited by time.
God’s thoughts proceed from eternity.
Man judges by appearance.
God judges according to truth.
Man sees the temporary.
God sees the eternal.
The revelation of God’s thoughts is one of His greatest gifts to His people.
As His Word renews our minds, we begin to think according to His eternal purpose rather than according to the limitations of the natural man.
THE NATURAL MAN RECEIVETH NOT THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT
1 Corinthians 2:14
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him…”
Paul explains why spiritual truth cannot be understood through natural wisdom alone.
The natural mind can study words.
The Spirit reveals life.
The natural mind analyzes.
The Spirit illuminates.
The natural mind searches for information.
The Spirit reveals Jesus Christ.
This is why two people may read the same passage of Scripture and yet see entirely different things.
One reads with the wisdom of the flesh.
The other beholds Christ through the illumination of the Holy Spirit.
WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST
1 Corinthians 2:16
“But we have the mind of Christ.”
This is one of the most remarkable declarations in the New Testament.
Paul does not merely say that believers should imitate Christ.
He declares that, in Christ, they have access to His mind.
The mind of Christ is governed by the Father’s will.
It delights in truth.
It walks in humility.
It loves righteousness.
It sees beyond the temporary and embraces the eternal purpose of God.
The more our minds are renewed by the Word, the more clearly Christ is revealed in our thinking, our words, and our lives.
BE YE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF YOUR MIND
Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Transformation begins within.
God changes His people by renewing the way they think.
The world continually presses believers into its pattern.
The Holy Spirit continually conforms believers to Christ.
This transformation is progressive.
As the mind is renewed through the Scriptures, believers become increasingly able to discern the will of God.
They begin to value what He values.
They begin to love what He loves.
They begin to reject what belongs to the corruptible and embrace what belongs to the incorruptible.
LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU
Philippians 2:5–8
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus…”
Paul points to Jesus as the perfect example of the renewed mind.
The mind of Christ is not marked by pride but by humility.
Not by self-exaltation but by obedience.
Not by grasping for power but by surrendering to the Father’s will.
Even unto death, Christ remained perfectly aligned with the purpose of God.
The renewed mind is not measured by intellect.
It is measured by conformity to Christ.
Every step toward spiritual maturity is a step toward thinking as Jesus thinks.
THE BOOK OF REVELATION IS THE REVELATION OF THE MIND OF CHRIST
Revelation 1:1
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him…”
The final book of the Bible is not primarily the revelation of beasts, judgments, or symbols.
It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
As Christ is revealed, His mind is revealed.
His judgments reveal His thoughts.
His kingdom reveals His purpose.
His victory reveals His wisdom.
The Book of Revelation calls believers to leave behind the confusion of Babylon and behold the wisdom of the Lamb.
Only the mind of Christ can rightly discern the revelation that God has given.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE WISDOM OF GOD
1 Corinthians 1:30
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”
Every contrast in this chapter leads to one glorious conclusion.
The natural mind cannot produce the wisdom of God.
The wisdom of God is revealed in Jesus Christ.
He is our wisdom.
He is our understanding.
He is our discernment.
From Genesis to Revelation, God is renewing the minds of His people so they may behold His Son, understand His eternal purpose, and walk according to the Spirit rather than according to the flesh.
The corruptible mind is passing away.
The mind of Christ endures forever.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Scriptures reveal two distinct ways of thinking: the natural mind and the mind of Christ. The natural mind belongs to the corruptible order and cannot comprehend the things of the Spirit. The mind of Christ belongs to the incorruptible order and is renewed by the revelation of God’s Word. From Genesis to Revelation, God progressively transforms His people by renewing their minds, enabling them to discern His truth, embrace His eternal purpose, and bear the image of His Son. In Christ, believers are called to leave behind the wisdom of the first creation and walk in the wisdom that comes from above.
CHAPTER SEVEN
BABYLON AND NEW JERUSALEM
Two Cities, Two Kingdoms, Two Orders
THE FIRST CITY WAS BUILT BY CAIN
Genesis 4:16–17
“And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord… and builded a city, and called the name of the city…”
The contrast between Babylon and New Jerusalem does not begin in the Book of Revelation. Its foundation is laid in Genesis.
The first city mentioned in Scripture was built by Cain after he departed from the presence of the Lord.
This is significant.
Before God reveals His holy city, Scripture first introduces a city that represents mankind’s independence from God.
From this point forward, the Bible reveals two cities.
One is built by man.
The other is built by God.
One belongs to the corruptible.
The other belongs to the incorruptible.
Throughout the whole counsel of God, these two cities stand as testimonies of two kingdoms and two orders.
BABEL REVEALS THE SPIRIT OF BABYLON
Genesis 11:4
“And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven…”
Babel reveals the heart of the corruptible order.
Man attempts to reach heaven by his own wisdom.
He builds his own name.
He establishes his own kingdom.
He depends upon his own strength.
Babylon is far more than a geographical location.
It represents the spirit of self-exaltation that has characterized the corruptible order from the beginning.
Whenever man seeks to establish his own righteousness, his own glory, or his own kingdom apart from Christ, the spirit of Babylon is at work.
COME OUT OF BABYLON
Isaiah 48:20
“Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans…”
Throughout the Scriptures, God’s people are continually called out of Babylon.
Israel experienced literal captivity.
Yet that historical event also reveals a spiritual principle.
God never intended His people to remain in bondage.
He continually calls them into liberty.
The Exodus.
The return from Babylon.
The Gospel.
Each reveals the same pattern.
God delivers His people from the corruptible order into the liberty of His kingdom.
MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT
Revelation 17:5
“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT…”
The Book of Revelation reveals Babylon in its fullest expression.
It is called a mystery because its influence extends far beyond one ancient empire.
Babylon represents every system of confusion, mixture, pride, and rebellion that stands opposed to the kingdom of God.
It is the great city of man’s glory.
It intoxicates the nations.
It exalts human wisdom.
It opposes the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The corruptible order reaches its fullest manifestation in Mystery Babylon.
Yet even here, God is revealing its end.
Everything built by man eventually falls.
Only what God builds remains.
COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE
Revelation 18:4
“Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins…”
One of the most gracious invitations in Scripture is God’s call to His people.
Notice the words:
“My people.”
Even while surrounded by mixture, the Lord calls His people to Himself.
The call is not merely geographical.
It is spiritual.
Come out of confusion.
Come out of mixture.
Come out of dependence upon the wisdom of man.
Come into the light of Jesus Christ.
The more clearly believers discern Babylon, the more fully they embrace the kingdom that cannot be shaken.
THE HOLY CITY DESCENDS FROM GOD
Revelation 21:2
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven…”
The Bible ends with another city.
Unlike Babel, this city does not ascend from earth.
It descends from God.
Babylon is built by man.
New Jerusalem is prepared by God.
Babylon exalts itself.
New Jerusalem glorifies Christ.
Babylon is temporary.
New Jerusalem is eternal.
Every contrast reveals the difference between the corruptible and the incorruptible.
One city passes away.
The other abides forever.
THE TABERNACLE OF GOD IS WITH MEN
Revelation 21:3–4
“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men… And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death…”
The New Jerusalem is more than a beautiful city.
It is the full manifestation of God’s dwelling with His people.
Everything lost through the first creation is restored through Christ.
Death is removed.
Tears are wiped away.
The curse is gone.
The presence of God fills all things.
This is the final triumph of the incorruptible over the corruptible.
The city of God stands forever because it is founded upon Jesus Christ.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE HOLY CITY
Ephesians 2:19–22
“…built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.”
Every road through Scripture leads to Christ.
He is the true foundation.
He is the cornerstone rejected by men but chosen by God.
Everything built upon Him endures.
Everything built apart from Him ultimately falls.
This is the great lesson of Babylon and New Jerusalem.
The corruptible trusts in the works of man.
The incorruptible rests upon the finished work of Jesus Christ.
From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals two cities, two kingdoms, and two orders.
One belongs to the first creation.
The other belongs to the new creation.
One is destined to fall.
The other shall endure forever because its Builder and Maker is God.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Scriptures reveal two great cities that represent two distinct kingdoms and two opposing orders. Babylon symbolizes the corruptible order built upon human wisdom, self-exaltation, and independence from God. New Jerusalem reveals the incorruptible order established through Jesus Christ and founded upon the eternal purpose of God. From the first city built by Cain to the holy city descending from heaven, the Bible consistently contrasts what man builds with what God builds. The call of the Gospel is to come out of Babylon and become part of the city whose Builder and Maker is God, where Christ reigns forever and all things are made new.
CHAPTER EIGHT
THE DRAGON AND THE LAMB
The Two Seeds Revealed Through the Great Conflict of Scripture
THE TWO SEEDS ARE REVEALED THROUGH TWO GREAT SIGNS
Revelation 12:3–5
“And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon… And she brought forth a man child…”
The Book of Revelation brings The Two Seeds into clear focus through one of the greatest prophetic visions in the Bible. The dragon represents everything that belongs to the corruptible order, while the Lamb reveals the incorruptible life of Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds are continually revealed through this great conflict between corruption and incorruption.
The dragon does not create life.
The Lamb is life.
The dragon seeks to devour.
The Lamb comes to redeem.
This contrast reveals The Two Seeds through the full counsel of God.
THE DRAGON IS THE ANCIENT SERPENT
Revelation 12:9
“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan…”
The dragon of Revelation is not introduced for the first time in the last book of the Bible.
He first appears in Genesis as the serpent in the garden.
This is one of the clearest demonstrations of The Two Seeds. The serpent introduced deception, corruption, and death. The dragon is simply the full manifestation of that same corruptible order.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible traces this thread without interruption.
The serpent.
The dragon.
The corruptible.
Opposed to him stands Jesus Christ, the incorruptible Seed.
The conflict has always been between The Two Seeds.
THE LAMB WAS SLAIN FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD
Revelation 13:8
“…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
The Lamb is the center of God’s eternal purpose.
Before corruption was fully manifested, God had already purposed redemption in Jesus Christ.
This is why The Two Seeds cannot be understood apart from Christ.
The corruptible seed reveals man’s need.
The incorruptible Seed reveals God’s provision.
Every sacrifice.
Every prophecy.
Every promise.
Every covenant points to the Lamb of God.
Throughout The Two Seeds, Jesus Christ remains the center of God’s eternal purpose.
THE LAMB OVERCOMES THE DRAGON
Revelation 17:14
“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them…”
The outcome of The Two Seeds is never in doubt.
The dragon wages war.
The Lamb overcomes.
The corruptible opposes the incorruptible.
Darkness resists the light.
Death confronts life.
Yet every conflict throughout Scripture ends with the same testimony:
Jesus Christ reigns.
The Lamb overcomes because His kingdom is founded upon incorruptible life.
The dragon belongs to the first creation.
The Lamb is the Head of the new creation.
THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB GIVES THE VICTORY
Revelation 12:11
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
The victory revealed in The Two Seeds is not accomplished through human strength.
It is accomplished through Jesus Christ.
The blood of the Lamb secures redemption.
The testimony of Jesus reveals truth.
The power of God establishes victory.
Everything belonging to the corruptible order is overcome through the finished work of Christ.
This is the glorious message of The Two Seeds.
WORTHY IS THE LAMB
Revelation 5:11–13
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain…”
The heavenly throne room reveals the final answer to The Two Seeds.
The dragon is never worshiped.
The Lamb alone is worthy.
Every creature gives glory to Jesus Christ.
Every crown is cast before Him.
Every voice joins in declaring His greatness.
The Book of Revelation ends exactly where The Two Seeds has been leading from the beginning.
Not to the dragon.
Not to the serpent.
Not to corruption.
But to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.
THE LAMB MAKES ALL THINGS NEW
Revelation 21:5
“Behold, I make all things new.”
The final victory belongs to the Lamb.
Everything introduced by the serpent is removed.
Everything corrupted by sin is restored.
Everything belonging to death gives way to life.
Everything corruptible gives way to the incorruptible.
This is the glorious conclusion of The Two Seeds.
From Genesis to Revelation, God has revealed one continuous testimony.
The serpent is overcome.
The dragon is cast down.
The Lamb reigns forever.
Jesus Christ is the incorruptible Seed.
His kingdom cannot be shaken.
His life cannot be corrupted.
His victory shall never end.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Two Seeds are clearly revealed through the contrast between the dragon and the Lamb. The dragon represents the corruptible order that began with the serpent in Genesis and reaches its fullest manifestation in Revelation. The Lamb reveals the incorruptible life of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose. From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds testify that corruption will never triumph over incorruption. The Lamb overcomes, His kingdom endures forever, and all things are ultimately made new through Jesus Christ.
CHAPTER NINE
THE BEAST AND THE SON OF MAN
The Two Seeds Revealed Through Two Kingdoms
THE TWO SEEDS REVEAL TWO KINGDOMS
Daniel 7:13–14
“I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven… And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him…”
Throughout The Two Seeds, God continually reveals two kingdoms. One kingdom rises from the corruptible order of man. The other is established through the incorruptible kingdom of Jesus Christ.
The Beast represents the kingdom of the first man.
The Son of Man reveals the kingdom of the Last Adam.
One kingdom is earthly.
The other is heavenly.
One passes away.
The other shall never end.
From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal these two kingdoms until every believer can discern the difference between the kingdom of man and the Kingdom of God.
THE BEAST RISES OUT OF THE SEA
Revelation 13:1
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea…”
The Beast does not appear suddenly in the Book of Revelation.
Like every major symbol, it develops progressively throughout the Scriptures.
The Beast represents the corruptible order of fallen humanity organized apart from the rule of Jesus Christ.
It is the spirit of self-government.
The spirit of self-exaltation.
The spirit of human dominion.
The Beast reveals what becomes of mankind when the corruptible order governs without the wisdom of God.
Throughout The Two Seeds, the Beast stands as a picture of the first creation attempting to rule apart from its Creator.
THE SON OF MAN REVEALS THE KINGDOM OF GOD
John 5:26–27
“For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.”
The title Son of Man reveals far more than Christ’s humanity.
It reveals His divine authority as the Head of the new creation.
Where the Beast represents corrupted dominion, the Son of Man reveals righteous dominion.
Where the Beast rules through fear, the Son of Man rules through truth.
Where the Beast exalts itself, the Son of Man glorifies the Father.
This is the great contrast revealed throughout The Two Seeds.
The corruptible seeks power.
The incorruptible reveals servanthood, righteousness, and eternal life.
THE BEAST EXALTS MAN
2 Thessalonians 2:3–4
“…that man of sin be revealed… Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God…”
The spirit of the Beast is always the spirit of self-exaltation.
It began in Babel.
It appeared in Pharaoh.
It manifested in Nebuchadnezzar.
It opposed Christ through earthly powers.
It reaches its fullest symbolic expression in Revelation.
Throughout The Two Seeds, this same corruptible principle continually appears wherever man seeks glory apart from God.
The Beast is not merely identified by outward power.
It is recognized by its refusal to submit to Jesus Christ.
THE SON OF MAN HUMBLED HIMSELF
Philippians 2:5–11
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus…”
Everything about Jesus Christ stands in contrast to the Beast.
The Beast exalts itself.
Christ humbled Himself.
The Beast demands worship.
Christ became a servant.
The Beast seeks its own kingdom.
Christ established the Kingdom of His Father.
This is one of the clearest revelations of The Two Seeds.
One seed seeks its own glory.
The other reveals the glory of God.
One produces pride.
The other produces humility.
One ends in judgment.
The other ends in exaltation by the Father.
THE SON OF MAN RECEIVES AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM
Daniel 2:44
“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed…”
Daniel saw the same revelation long before John wrote the Book of Revelation.
The kingdoms of men rise.
The kingdoms of men fall.
Empires come and go.
Governments change.
The Beast never remains.
But the Kingdom established by Jesus Christ cannot be shaken.
This is the hope revealed throughout The Two Seeds.
Everything built upon the corruptible eventually passes away.
Everything established through Jesus Christ abides forever.
THE SON OF MAN WALKS AMONG THE CANDLESTICKS
Revelation 1:12–16
“And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man…”
The Book of Revelation opens by revealing the Son of Man.
Before the seals are opened…
Before the trumpets sound…
Before the Beast is revealed…
John first beholds Jesus Christ.
This order is intentional.
The revelation of Christ always comes before the revelation of His enemies.
Throughout The Two Seeds, believers are called to fix their eyes upon the Son of Man rather than becoming fascinated with the Beast.
The greater revelation is never the Beast.
The greater revelation is always Jesus Christ.
THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD BECOME THE KINGDOM OF CHRIST
Revelation 11:15
“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”
This is the triumphant conclusion of The Two Seeds.
The Beast does not have the final word.
The Son of Man does.
The kingdoms of men are temporary.
The Kingdom of Christ is eternal.
The corruptible gives way to the incorruptible.
The earthly gives way to the heavenly.
The first creation gives way to the new creation.
Jesus Christ reigns forever.
From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal one unchanging testimony: every kingdom built upon the wisdom of man ultimately falls, while the Kingdom of God established through the Son of Man endures forever.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Two Seeds are clearly revealed through the contrast between the Beast and the Son of Man. The Beast represents the corruptible kingdom of fallen humanity, characterized by self-exaltation, human dominion, and independence from God. The Son of Man, Jesus Christ, reveals the incorruptible Kingdom of God, marked by humility, righteousness, truth, and everlasting life. From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds continually distinguish these two kingdoms until their final fulfillment, when the kingdoms of this world become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He reigns forever.
CHAPTER TEN
THE OLD CREATION AND THE NEW CREATION
The Two Seeds Revealed Through God’s Eternal Purpose
THE TWO SEEDS REVEAL TWO CREATIONS
Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
From the opening verse of Scripture, God begins revealing His eternal purpose through creation itself. Yet as we follow The Two Seeds from Genesis to Revelation, we discover that the Bible speaks of more than the first creation. It progressively reveals a new creation established through Jesus Christ.
The old creation belongs to the corruptible order.
The new creation belongs to the incorruptible order.
One reveals the first Adam.
The other reveals the Last Adam.
Throughout The Two Seeds, God teaches us to discern these two creations until we behold His eternal purpose fulfilled in Christ.
THE FIRST CREATION WAS SUBJECTED TO VANITY
Romans 8:20–21
“For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope… Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”
Paul reveals that the first creation is not the end of God’s purpose.
Creation itself bears witness to the effects of corruption.
Decay.
Bondage.
Mortality.
Death.
Yet God subjected creation in hope.
The old creation points beyond itself.
It anticipates the day when the glorious liberty of the children of God will be fully revealed.
Throughout The Two Seeds, the old creation becomes the stage upon which God unveils His eternal purpose in Jesus Christ.
IF ANY MAN BE IN CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATION
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
The new creation begins with Jesus Christ.
God does not repair the old creation.
He brings forth the new.
This is one of the central revelations of The Two Seeds.
The corruptible cannot become incorruptible through human effort.
Only Christ introduces the life of the new creation.
Old things pass away.
All things become new.
The believer is no longer identified by Adam but by Christ, the Head of the new creation.
THE WHOLE CREATION GROANS
Romans 8:22–23
“For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now… waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
The groaning of creation reveals that God’s work is moving toward completion.
Creation longs for freedom from corruption.
Believers long for the redemption of the body.
The Spirit bears witness that something greater is coming.
Throughout The Two Seeds, this hope points to the complete triumph of the incorruptible over the corruptible.
The new creation is not merely a promise for the future.
It has already begun in Christ and moves toward its glorious fullness according to God’s eternal purpose.
THE NEW MAN IS CREATED AFTER GOD
Ephesians 4:22–24
“And… put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Paul reveals that the new creation is expressed through the new man.
The old man belongs to the first creation.
The new man belongs to Christ.
The old man is marked by corruption.
The new man reflects the righteousness and holiness of God.
This contrast stands at the heart of The Two Seeds.
Everything that belongs to Adam is passing away.
Everything that belongs to Christ is becoming manifest.
BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW
Revelation 21:5
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.”
The Book of Revelation reveals the glorious completion of what began in Genesis.
The Bible begins with creation.
It ends with new creation.
The old heavens pass away.
The old earth passes away.
The New Jerusalem descends from God.
Everything touched by corruption gives way to the incorruptible kingdom of Jesus Christ.
This is the great hope proclaimed throughout The Two Seeds.
God is making all things new.
THE NEW JERUSALEM REVEALS THE NEW CREATION
Revelation 21:1–3
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth… And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven…”
The New Jerusalem is the crowning revelation of the new creation.
It is not built by man.
It descends from God.
Its Builder is God.
Its light is the Lamb.
Its foundation is Jesus Christ.
Throughout The Two Seeds, New Jerusalem stands in perfect contrast to every work of the old creation.
Where Babylon falls…
New Jerusalem remains.
Where corruption ends…
The incorruptible kingdom begins.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW CREATION
Colossians 1:18
“And he is the head of the body, the church… the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
Every chapter of The Two Seeds leads to this glorious conclusion.
Jesus Christ is the beginning of the new creation.
He is the Firstborn from the dead.
He is the Head of a new humanity.
He is the revelation of the incorruptible life of God.
Everything that belongs to the old creation finds its fulfillment in Him.
Everything that belongs to the new creation proceeds from Him.
From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal God’s eternal purpose: the old creation gives way to the new creation, the corruptible gives way to the incorruptible, and Jesus Christ is preeminent in all things.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Two Seeds reveal two distinct creations throughout the whole counsel of God. The old creation, identified with the first Adam, is subject to corruption, bondage, and death. The new creation, established through Jesus Christ, reveals incorruptible life, righteousness, and God’s eternal purpose. From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds testify that God is making all things new through His Son. The old creation passes away, the new creation remains forever, and Jesus Christ stands as the Head and Beginning of the eternal kingdom in which all things are reconciled to God.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
THE CORRUPTIBLE BODY AND THE GLORIFIED BODY
The Two Seeds Revealed Through the Redemption of the Body
THE TWO SEEDS REVEAL TWO BODIES
1 Corinthians 15:42–44
“So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body…”
One of the greatest revelations of The Two Seeds is found in the contrast between the corruptible body and the glorified body.
The Scriptures reveal that God’s purpose has never been merely to save the soul.
His eternal purpose includes the complete redemption of the whole man.
Spirit.
Soul.
Body.
The corruptible body belongs to the first creation.
The glorified body belongs to the new creation.
Throughout The Two Seeds, God progressively reveals that the work of Jesus Christ reaches its glorious completion in the redemption of the body.
THE WHOLE CREATION WAITS FOR THIS DAY
Romans 8:19–23
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God… waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
Paul reveals that the redemption of the body is not a minor doctrine.
It is the hope of creation itself.
The entire creation groans.
The children of God groan.
The Holy Spirit bears witness within us.
Why?
Because The Two Seeds are moving toward the complete victory of the incorruptible over the corruptible.
The redemption of the body is the public manifestation of that victory.
It is the moment when corruption gives way to incorruption before all creation.
OUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN
Philippians 3:20–21
“For our conversation is in heaven… Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body…”
The hope of the believer is centered in Jesus Christ.
He is not only the Savior of the soul.
He is the Redeemer of the body.
Paul declares that our present body shall be changed and fashioned like unto Christ’s glorious body.
This is one of the great promises revealed throughout The Two Seeds.
The first Adam passed his image to his children.
The Last Adam shares His glory with His brethren.
The corruptible body gives way to the glorified body.
MORTALITY IS SWALLOWED UP OF LIFE
2 Corinthians 5:1–5
“…not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.”
Paul’s desire was never escape.
It was transformation.
The goal of redemption is not merely leaving the earth.
The goal is that mortality be swallowed up by life.
This is the language of The Two Seeds.
The corruptible is swallowed up by the incorruptible.
The temporary is swallowed up by the eternal.
The earthly gives way to the heavenly.
Everything points toward the fullness of the life of Jesus Christ.
WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM
1 John 3:2
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God… when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
John lifts our eyes to the glorious hope set before the children of God.
We are sons now.
Yet something greater remains.
The revelation of Jesus Christ brings conformity to His image.
The work that began through the incorruptible Seed reaches its glorious expression as His people are made like Him.
Throughout The Two Seeds, God’s purpose is always conformity to Christ.
Not merely forgiveness.
Not merely justification.
But complete transformation into His likeness.
THIS CORRUPTIBLE MUST PUT ON INCORRUPTION
1 Corinthians 15:53–54
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality… Death is swallowed up in victory.”
Paul now declares the triumphant climax of redemption.
Notice his language.
“This corruptible…”
Not another body.
This body.
The body that bears the effects of corruption is destined to put on incorruption.
The body marked by mortality is destined to put on immortality.
This is one of the greatest revelations of The Two Seeds.
Jesus Christ does not leave His people under the dominion of corruption.
He brings them into the fullness of His incorruptible life.
THE FIRSTFRUITS REVEAL GOD’S ETERNAL PURPOSE
James 1:18
“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”
Throughout the Scriptures, God always reveals the firstfruits before the harvest.
The firstfruits declare what the harvest shall become.
Jesus Christ is the Firstfruits from the dead.
Those who belong to Him become the firstfruits of the new creation.
Throughout The Two Seeds, the firstfruits stand as God’s testimony that the incorruptible life has already entered the earth through Jesus Christ.
What God begins in the firstfruits, He completes according to His eternal purpose.
THE GLORIFIED BODY REVEALS THE VICTORY OF CHRIST
Revelation 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death…”
The Book of Revelation reveals the glorious completion of God’s purpose.
No more death.
No more sorrow.
No more pain.
No more corruption.
Everything introduced through the first Adam has passed away.
Everything established through the Last Adam remains forever.
The glorified body stands as the final testimony that The Two Seeds have reached their appointed conclusion.
The corruptible has given way to the incorruptible.
The old creation has yielded to the new creation.
The victory of Jesus Christ is complete.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE FIRSTBORN OF MANY BRETHREN
Romans 8:29
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son…”
Every chapter of The Two Seeds leads to this glorious truth.
Jesus Christ is the pattern.
He is the Firstborn.
He is the Head of the new creation.
His glorified body reveals God’s eternal purpose for His redeemed people.
From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal that God’s purpose is not merely to forgive sin, but to bring His people into the fullness of the life of His Son.
The corruptible body gives way to the glorified body.
The image of the earthly gives way to the image of the heavenly.
The victory of Christ becomes the testimony of the redeemed forever.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Two Seeds reveal two distinct bodies throughout the whole counsel of God: the corruptible body of the first creation and the glorified body of the new creation in Jesus Christ. The redemption of the body is the culmination of God’s eternal purpose, fulfilling the promise that corruption shall put on incorruption and mortality shall put on immortality. From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds proclaim the complete triumph of Jesus Christ, who transforms His people into His image and brings them into the fullness of His incorruptible life.
CHAPTER TWELVE
MORTALITY AND IMMORTALITY
The Two Seeds Revealed Through the Triumph of Eternal Life
THE TWO SEEDS REVEAL TWO DESTINIES
1 Corinthians 15:53–54
“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality… then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”
From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal two destinies. One belongs to mortality. The other belongs to immortality.
Mortality is the testimony of the first Adam.
Immortality is the testimony of the Last Adam.
The corruptible order is marked by weakness, decay, and death.
The incorruptible order is marked by glory, life, and endless fellowship with God.
Throughout The Two Seeds, God progressively reveals that His eternal purpose is not simply to rescue mankind from death, but to bring His people into the fullness of immortal life through Jesus Christ.
This is the great hope toward which the whole counsel of God moves.
GOD ALONE POSSESSES IMMORTALITY
1 Timothy 6:15–16
“…the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality…”
Immortality does not originate with man.
It originates with God.
Life has always resided in the Father.
The Son came to reveal that life.
The Holy Spirit imparts that life.
Throughout The Two Seeds, immortality is revealed as the very life of God shared with His people through Jesus Christ.
The first creation could never produce immortality.
Only the incorruptible Seed can reveal the life that has neither beginning nor end.
JESUS CHRIST HAS BROUGHT LIFE AND IMMORTALITY TO LIGHT
2 Timothy 1:10
“…our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”
Paul declares one of the greatest truths in all of Scripture.
Jesus Christ did not merely promise immortality.
He brought it to light.
The Gospel is the revelation of immortal life.
Every miracle.
Every sermon.
Every act of redemption.
Every victory over death revealed the life of the age to come breaking into the present age.
Throughout The Two Seeds, Jesus Christ stands as the perfect revelation of immortality.
He is the incorruptible Seed manifested among men.
THIS MORTAL MUST PUT ON IMMORTALITY
1 Corinthians 15:51–53
“Behold, I shew you a mystery… this mortal must put on immortality.”
Paul calls this a mystery because it had been hidden throughout the ages and was now revealed in Christ.
Notice his language.
“This mortal…”
The hope of redemption is not escape from God’s purpose.
It is the fulfillment of God’s purpose.
The mortal gives way to the immortal.
The corruptible gives way to the incorruptible.
Throughout The Two Seeds, this promise stands as the climax of redemption.
Everything introduced through the first Adam is overcome through the Last Adam.
CHRIST IS THE FIRSTFRUITS OF IMMORTALITY
1 Corinthians 15:20–23
“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”
Jesus Christ is the firstfruits of the immortal creation.
His resurrection was not merely proof that He conquered death.
It was the unveiling of God’s eternal purpose.
The firstfruits always reveal the nature of the coming harvest.
What God accomplished in Christ, He purposes to accomplish throughout His redeemed creation.
Throughout The Two Seeds, the resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as God’s declaration that immortality has entered human history.
The incorruptible life has already appeared.
DEATH SHALL BE DESTROYED
1 Corinthians 15:25–26
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
Death is not eternal.
Christ is.
Death is an enemy.
Christ is the Victor.
The reign of Jesus Christ moves history toward one glorious conclusion.
Every enemy subdued.
Every promise fulfilled.
Every purpose completed.
The last enemy destroyed is death itself.
Throughout The Two Seeds, this is the unwavering testimony of Scripture.
Life triumphs.
Christ reigns.
Immortality prevails.
THERE SHALL BE NO MORE DEATH
Revelation 21:4
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying…”
The Bible closes exactly where God’s eternal purpose intended.
No more death.
No more corruption.
No more curse.
No more separation.
The New Jerusalem becomes the everlasting testimony of immortal life.
Everything belonging to mortality has passed away.
Everything belonging to immortality remains forever.
This is the glorious conclusion of The Two Seeds.
The incorruptible kingdom of Jesus Christ fills all things.
GOD BECOMES ALL IN ALL
1 Corinthians 15:24–28
“Then cometh the end… that God may be all in all.”
Paul reveals the final goal of redemption.
Not merely forgiven people.
Not merely redeemed people.
But a creation completely filled with the life of God.
The Kingdom is delivered to the Father.
Every enemy has been subdued.
Death has been destroyed.
God is all in all.
This is the consummation of The Two Seeds.
Everything that belonged to the corruptible has fulfilled its purpose and passed away.
Everything that remains reveals the incorruptible life of Jesus Christ.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE IMMORTAL KING
Revelation 22:1–5
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life… and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
The final chapter of the Bible reveals the triumph of immortality.
The River of Life flows freely.
The Tree of Life bears its fruit continually.
The curse is gone.
The throne of God and of the Lamb remains forever.
His servants behold His face.
His kingdom has no end.
This is where The Two Seeds have been leading from the beginning.
From the Garden of Eden to the River of Life…
From the first Adam to the Last Adam…
From corruption to incorruption…
From mortality to immortality…
Jesus Christ stands as the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.
He is the incorruptible Seed.
He is the immortal King.
He is the fulfillment of God’s eternal purpose.
CHAPTER SUMMARY
The Two Seeds culminate in the great contrast between mortality and immortality. From Genesis to Revelation, the Scriptures reveal God’s purpose to bring His people from the corruption introduced through the first Adam into the immortal life revealed through the Last Adam, Jesus Christ. The Gospel brings life and immortality to light, the resurrection of Christ guarantees the final victory over death, and the Book of Revelation concludes with an eternal kingdom where death is no more and God is all in all. CONCLUSION
JESUS CHRIST: THE INCORRUPTIBLE SEED REVEALED
The Two Seeds Fulfilled in God’s Eternal Purpose
THE TWO SEEDS REVEAL JESUS CHRIST
Luke 24:27
“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”
From the first pages of Genesis to the final chapter of Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal one glorious Person—Jesus Christ.
This book has never been merely about identifying two opposing seeds. It has been about discovering how the whole counsel of God progressively reveals God’s eternal purpose in His Son.
Every contrast has pointed us to Him.
The corruptible reveals our need.
The incorruptible reveals His sufficiency.
The first Adam points us to the Last Adam.
The earthly man points us to the heavenly Man.
The flesh points us to the Spirit.
Death points us to Life.
Babylon points us to New Jerusalem.
The Beast points us to the Son of Man.
The dragon points us to the Lamb.
The old creation points us to the new creation.
The corruptible body points us to the glorified body.
Mortality points us to immortality.
Every contrast in The Two Seeds ultimately reveals Jesus Christ.
THE INCORRUPTIBLE SEED IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE NEW CREATION
1 Peter 1:23
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
The incorruptible Seed is not simply a theological concept.
The incorruptible Seed is the living Christ.
Everything that belongs to the first creation is temporary.
Everything that belongs to Jesus Christ is eternal.
The kingdoms of men rise and fall.
The Word of God abides forever.
The wisdom of this world passes away.
The wisdom of Christ remains forever.
The glory of the flesh fades like the flower of the field.
The glory of Jesus Christ fills heaven and earth.
Throughout The Two Seeds, we have discovered that the incorruptible Seed is the foundation of God’s eternal kingdom and the source of everlasting life.
THE TWO SEEDS TEACH US TO DISCERN
Hebrews 5:14
“But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
One of the great purposes of The Two Seeds is to produce spiritual discernment.
God has always called His people to distinguish between truth and error, light and darkness, life and death.
As we have journeyed through the Scriptures, we have learned to discern:
The corruptible from the incorruptible.
The earthly from the heavenly.
The natural from the spiritual.
The temporary from the eternal.
The wisdom of man from the wisdom of God.
This discernment is not given to produce pride.
It is given to produce maturity.
The more clearly we see Jesus Christ, the more clearly we discern everything else.
THE TWO SEEDS REVEAL GOD’S ETERNAL PURPOSE
Ephesians 1:9–10
“Having made known unto us the mystery of his will… That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ…”
The Bible is the unfolding revelation of God’s eternal purpose.
Nothing in Scripture exists independently of Jesus Christ.
Every promise.
Every covenant.
Every prophecy.
Every priesthood.
Every kingdom.
Every sacrifice.
Every symbol.
Every contrast.
Everything moves toward one glorious conclusion:
God gathering all things together in Christ.
This is the testimony of The Two Seeds.
The corruptible serves its appointed purpose.
The incorruptible remains forever.
The first creation prepares the way for the new creation.
The shadow gives way to the substance.
The promise gives way to fulfillment.
Jesus Christ stands at the center of it all.
THE TWO SEEDS END WITH THE TRIUMPH OF THE LAMB
Revelation 22:1–5
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life… and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
The Bible begins in a garden.
It ends in a city.
It begins with a tree.
It ends with the Tree of Life.
It begins with a river flowing through Eden.
It ends with the River of Life proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
It begins with corruption entering creation.
It ends with corruption forever removed.
It begins with death.
It ends with immortality.
It begins with sorrow.
It ends with everlasting joy.
The final testimony of The Two Seeds is not the victory of darkness over light.
It is the complete triumph of Jesus Christ.
The Lamb reigns.
The Kingdom stands forever.
The incorruptible Seed fills all things.
God’s eternal purpose is complete.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA
Revelation 22:13
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
Jesus Christ is the beginning of the revelation.
Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the revelation.
He is the Seed promised in Genesis.
He is the Lamb revealed in Revelation.
He is the Last Adam.
He is the heavenly Man.
He is the resurrection and the life.
He is the Head of the new creation.
He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.
He is the incorruptible Seed through whom God is reconciling all things unto Himself.
From Genesis to Revelation, The Two Seeds reveal that God’s eternal purpose has never changed.
The Father purposed it.
The Son accomplished it.
The Holy Spirit reveals it.
The Scriptures proclaim it.
The Church bears witness to it.
The Kingdom shall manifest it.
FINAL EXHORTATION
Colossians 2:6–7
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith…”
May this study of The Two Seeds deepen your love for Jesus Christ and strengthen your confidence in the full counsel of God. May it teach you to discern the corruptible from the incorruptible, the earthly from the heavenly, and the temporary from the eternal.
Above all, may it continually turn your eyes toward Jesus Christ, for He is the center of every promise, the fulfillment of every prophecy, the substance of every shadow, and the revelation of God’s eternal purpose.
For from Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things.
To Him be glory forever.
Amen.
